I think the relentless hatred of TC use by many Gran Turismo TH-camrs over the past few years has given many players the false feeling that TC is only for the lesser gods. I can't prove that with numbers, it's my feeling based on the ongoing discussion on this topic. That's why I think it's good that this video at least shows that it's a bit more nuanced than just "TC? Nuh-uh!". I've been using TC since day one, in the entire range from 0 to 5, depending on the type of car, track, weather conditions, stationary or rolling start, tires and whatever else can justify using it. I'm not a top driver by a long shot, I do play the game seriously but mainly for fun. If using TC makes my lap times a few tenths slower (which is questionable whether that's really the case), but I have better control of the car and don't spin or go off the track, I'll have a more enjoyable race. And that, for me as an amateur, is the goal of playing the game.
It has, up until 1.49, felt much worse to use. I don't think people hate that othera are using it, it's just that it really took the fun out (aka, skill) out of driving the car. 1.49 has changed this a fair bit as TC use is far more situational, and has become "just another thing" to adjust, rather than a crutch (that it was previously)
TC DOES make your lap times slower but it has a few buts, let me explain. The fastest way to drive any car in Gran Turismo will always be using no tc, but it is directly proportional to your skill. If you have a smooth feeling with the throttle, no matter what conditions you're going to be faster, if you turn TC even if you tried to be as smooth as possible you'd go slower because TC doesn't activate when the car is about to slide, it activates when you go over certain RPMs while having a turning angle that's over the limit each TC level has, even if you're not suposed to slide TC will activate. This being said. Not everybody can control the throttle as they'd like so turning TC will make their lap times quicker because they don't have to worry that much about their throttle inputs and will go through the corners smoothly.
In real life TC is used pretty heavily to help keep you fast since it makes more traction for the wheels. And apprently banned in f1 for removing the skill of controlling the vehicle. So real life TC is "cheating" helping you put out more force to the road. Gt7 is weird with it honestly
Sooo… basically, PD got miffed that so many were able to smash around with no TC, so spiced it up. I personally use TC2 all the time. I know it’s frowned upon, but as a veteran of real track days and missing the bum ‘g-meter’ in sim-racing, I find it helps me, no end.
I've always used TC and not also. Depends on the variables of the race. Used to win alot with the audi tt and TC1 or 2 at brands hatch back when gtsport started. I feel it shows respect to the wec drivers who have tested these technologies for hours on end, so that we can have the safest cars to drive.
I’ve never used traction control. This latest update makes me seriously consider it, but it’s only because some cars have now turned into the stock Muria. I wish they’d leave their game alone, that’s the hardest thing about this game is constantly having to tweak your racing habits after an update. I had a car that was loose but I could manage it and had a lot of fun with it, one update and now it’s a huge challenge just trying to stop the back end from coming around.
Great stuff, Tidge! I've been running with TC1 as my default for quite a while now. It hardly ever activates in dry conditions -- even less since the 1.49 update -- but when it does, it's usually saving me from a self-inflicted spinout. It's great to see your tests confirming what I've felt was the case all this time -- that TC1 doesn't really slow me down. If I'm slow, it's for completely unrelated reasons.
this makes sense.. gt3 cars are designed to run with tc, i dont play gt but appears theyve gone for a more realistic implementation.. on lfm for ac cars are restricted to what ever ac setting they have irl.. normally yoou can eek out a lil more speed in corners with it low or off but you have to be far more controlled with the throttle
I just have a harder time rotating with it on in some car/track combos. I switch between 0 and 1 depending on the car and always try both when doing qualifying laps
You said the most important thing during this video. Drivers use tc in real life. Most racing uses tc adjustable by the driver, in the car, on the fly.
Another reason why TC1 is good, and I normally use it during the middle part of my stint… is it helps saves your tires… especially with the new physics update keeping your tires safe is huge… if you over cook them those times drop drastically! Test it out yourself!
I always use it on 2 (or 3 in the Redbull thing), I have a heavy right foot and struggle with modulation so on 0 I always spin out. Good little insight, thanks Tidge.
@@TheFalconerNZ I actually do, I have MS (monkey scrotum) and get something called "drop foot" which means my leg isn't easy to move. Weirdly it only effects me on sim pedals and not real cars, might be the seating position, etc but yeah.
T1 is tricky but you can go mid throttle if you take it wide. T2 is the one I can see the TC being a benefit due to the angle and elevation. Are you in a wheel or controller?
MG your content is never padded with fluff. It’s all good stuff. I appreciate all the effort -I know how long all that takes. Since update 1.47 I’ve been switching between TC 0 and TC 1 as much as I’ve been switching the ABS from default to weak. From what I can gather it seems to be more beneficial in F/R cars for both acceleration and braking. TC 1 can save you from those stupid lost concentration mistakes. I leave it off in time trials but often go there in a race as it helps when door banging starts 😂
When gt7 dropped i quickly realized that TC has been changed...i started using tc 1 or 2 (depending on the car) full time..noticing that my lap times were better now that i wasnt fighting the car as much...its amusing when the "top drivers" say tc is markedly slower...and then i look at my lap times and see that i am just as fast as some of them...im glad pd did get something mostly right with regards to TC...it makes cars like the lambo...458...r8 competitive for me to drive...and drive quickly and consistently...and enjoy doing it.
They absolutely fixed the TC in this game with this update. TC1 and TC2 allow for wheel spin still. I can get the car to spin on throttle out of a turn even with tc on 2. like completely spin out and 360. That never used to happen before. TC1 and TC2 are safe and not much slower than tc off, just a hell of a lot safer. The new TC model does not intervene as badly now. This new model is definitely something that will help with the new tire model as well. As tires start to fade, turn TC on. Be faster than pitting
@@skltr21 He’s a troll who thinks you can’t be good unless TCS is on 0. Which, if he watched the bloody video, he’d know was a moronic opinion. Moreover, we don’t care what strangers on the internet think because they do not matter.
I'm not even sure how you are all playing the game at all unless it's only sport mode, every single car I have either has no pp rating or is horrifically buggy and undrivable with this update. The sole exception is the damn Daihatsu VGT...
I always use TC2 for races. It just suits my style perfectly. I've tried TC0 once, but I couldn't control the car, and when I learned how to do so, I didn't really like the new way to drive, plus my times were too similar so I didn't see any advantage in using TC0, at least for now
TC may (should?) benefit tyre wear in longer races where tyre degradation is more of a factor. So, as always, optimisation of the race result requires a balance of many factors. Always enjoy your videos.
@@neilwright6351 Tc will help with tire wear. But at least before 1.49 i remember noticing that whenever u had tyre wear tc would slow u down even further. So if you are on worn tires it would steal even more time. A lot of changed post update so that theory also needs to get tested
In GT7, you do not use TC for "speed" ... you use it for added stability. So maybe the testing needs to me more about testing various "known hazards" like TH-cam Corner in the rain...
Indeed, but there’s an insidious undercurrent of misinformation regarding TCS, in that it must make you slower. The point I took from this video is that it does not. So, use it for stability if needed AND don’t lose time. It’s a win-win.
@@Rapid_GTit does slow down a bit but not a lot like in the past so if you can't control the car as well with TC0 it's not that bad to use it now especially with wet weather race
That was apart of the testing to be fair it's why I did the circuit tests and explained how I was feeling with each of the tests. The biggest thing you always hear is TCS is slower
Good methodical testing Tidge, very helpful and interesting. I've been on TC0 even with the current wet RedBull TT. I shall try 1 and 3 and see how I get on. Currently just off gold time by 0.5 of a second.
Tidge after all these years, the best way to start the car with no TC in any gran turismo game in any car is to hold the revs at 60% (on the little white bar to the side of Speedo) then as you release the brake you fully press the accelerator, you will get a perfect start no wheelspin it's actually better than with TC cos your power is not getting cut. Try it !!
I know this, but this is very car specific. The point of the acceleration test was to show the impact of TC. There are alot of people who play Gran Turismo who would struggle with doing those starts.
In the dry I rarely use TC, in the wet I generally qualify without/minimal TC and run up to TC3 in the wet for stability and consistency as it allows me to concentrate on racing over taming the wheel spin - it looks like I'll continue doing the same.
I prefer having traction control off and learning each cars drivability dynamics. I understand the need for some players but I enjoy the challenge far more in a cars rawest form.
Thank you for your your scientific testing. In my felt experience low TC is definitively a help in races for me as a B-Driver. Certainly even more as for A+ or GOAT-drivers as Tidgney.
Class video Tidge! I'm a low DR B, controller, automatic, TC3 driver (obviously not at your level) but I've found that sometimes when doing time trial it's impossible to achieve gold with TC on. I notice instant improvement when turning TC off (as long as I don't spin it). Find this particularly when doing older FR car time trials where you need to slide through the corners a bit. Just thought id share.
I'm a B S driver and I have found myself able to race tc0 since the update with much more confidence. I've always been tc1 and abs weak but I have noticed that I am now faster with tc at 0 and no longer feel like I'm going to lose it when planting the accelerator on exit.
Congratulations on hitting 60K Tidge. Nice to see people have finally caught on to how much you contribute to the sim racing community. Another informative video! Good job!
Thanks for being so thorough in your analytical logic Tidge. You don't shortcut and therefore your data can be relied upon in the real (sim) world. Cheers, dd
This is great. And not just because it backs up what I've felt always felt, even before the update. I mostly use tc0, but tc1 if I was struggling at all. Tc1 hardly ever came on and it seemed to make me faster by saving occasional oversteer, giving me more confidence and getting me to the end of more races. Great content as always.
I've recently started turning TC off whenever I can, but even so, TC1 does an excellent job of taming the oversteer on corner exits in most situations without slowing me down. However in some situations getting rotation mid-corner can be significantly impacted, so what I would say is if you're being slowed down by understeer, then try turning it off and see if you can manage without it, otherwise try setting it to 1 or 2 and don't be ashamed of using it. As Tidge proved, it's nearly identical in times to TC0 in most situations whilst giving you more confidence when you need it.
For a top tier driver yes. He is good enough to compensate. The rest of us. Not so much. TC1 will definitely slow you down by about 1-200th sec per lap at least. If you can train yourself to be more precise on inputs then TC0 is definitely the fastest & most precise.
@@geoganicus7238 On the flip side, if a driver isn't capable of compensating for TC being on, then they're definitely not going to be good enough to compensate for power oversteer coming out of corners, and compensating for power oversteer is much harder than learning to work around the limitations of TC. Imo for most drivers being slightly slower and only being able to get into the top 5 with occasional podiums is far better than consistently being near the back because they keep spinning out while trying to keep up, which is demoralising and unenjoyable. Games are supposed to be fun, and a driver will have more fun if they feel competitive using TC than languishing in last without it. In time trials I'm consistently in the top 2-2.5% of times and occasionally breaking into the top 1000 times, with approx 86% of my medals being gold and the rest being silver, but without TC1 (and Tidge's guides of course) I'd be lucky to get silver, so if it does slow me down, so be it, but at least for me and presumably most other drivers in GT7, TC helps them be more consistent and quicker than without it.
I only use TCS 1 at the start and 3/4 in the rain. I need to feel the limit to get closer to the max and feel the ride. Even power oversteer out of some corners is helping a lot
What is fastest is what you're comfortable with! :) I can use some G1 cars with TC0 but some are awful to not spin for me with TC1. It really just depends on a lot of factors, but seriously, if you're comfortable with one thing, just stick to it, because you'll just improve in the end.
Great video, I would love to see some tyre wear testing with and without TC. Of course it's gonna depend on the combo, but I've cranked it up a few times in the past to hopefully preserve my tyres, especially in Gr4 FF cars that have a lot of wheelspin.
I use 0 traction control on wheel but on comtroller i usually use 2 or 3 traction control as it gives me a lot more confidence and as im not using my wheel much atm its nice to see that it isnt losing me much if anything
I've been racing without TC since GTS, even though it seems to me that it was harder to do on GT7. I am always amazed when I see A drivers using it and other assists. But I've always been a D driver, and being stubborn about not using it is not going anywhere, so what the heck I'll try some TC. Great vid Tidge.
I've been stuck as a B rated Driver for about 6 months now. I get to the race that mixes A and B and always get something small wrong. I'm gonna try using TC now to see if it can help me finally get to be an A rated driver. I wish you the best of luck being stuck in D rank. Hope to see you on track soon
I have traction on zero to get a good launch off the grid. Having the setting on one while driving the course is a sweet spot for me. But I think driving with traction off is more fun especially in less powerful cars
Great Vid Tidge! I think for the first tests you have to remember that TC isn't Launch Control and isn't as aggressive as maximum traction is allowing the tire to slip slightly where as GT works to stop it completely. TC in real life works with a whole bunch of car sensors like ABS, Engine Management etc. But it's all like black magic in real life and GT 😂
Traction Control is Car, Track & Weather dependent for sure. I’m almost always at TC 1. But more powerful cars can require TC 2. It’s only at TC 3 and above that I’ve noticed the speed reduction while gearing and/or coming out of corners. Some of the super and electric cars almost require a higher setting to prevent a spin out. I can’t recall the model but, even at TC 5, it continues spinning the tires with a wicked sound effect all the way to gear 6 🤯. Lowest as possible is best obviously. Work up from there. TC 0, 1 & 2 work for a majority of scenarios 🏎️
In Race C yhe honda open wheel since the update, my wheel has no weight. Im justvon old Logitech butveven max torque it is too floaty. I can still catch it but it makes me have less confidence getting on throttle early. I stillvthink race C is fun cause itvis something different and definitely takes more driver awareness and reflexes
I've been playing GT since GT2. But I have never onced considered using TC as not as skilled or lesser than not using TC. With GT7, I mainly use no TC. But for some of the higher powered cars like group 1, I set that sucker to TC 1 or TC 2. Never knew it was frowned upon until recently. But race you want.
Thank you a lot for this test! I use always TC 1 which gives me some safety to not spin out. I have A / S rating. Made all the way up with TC 1. And its more realistic. In real life racing with gt3 cars they always use TC.
Tc in GT7 is nothing like in modern GT3. Irl you can also very easily spin the car even if u have tc on, anyone who tried acc or iracing can also say the same. If anything throttle control which you are forced to learn if you are on 0 is a massive benefit in general when it comes to racing skill. Slamming on the throttle and waiting for tc to bail you out is not a good way to drive as soon as you have a bit more power or need throttle control you will be spinning out. Not to mention that tc0 is faster in gt7 which is why all top players dont use tc
Since the new physics I now use TCS at 2 with low ABS (for FR MR or RR cars), at least during my learning of new physics . It does suit me very well. As I think if we get the good apex, tcs doesn’t activate , I think I loose not much time. The only time lost I saw on Suzuka this week is the left long turn after the S portion of 1st sector . You should have tried TCS2, because I feel TCS1 does not prevent all wheel spin, and TCS3 activitates even with a good apex. TCS2 seems to make a better insurance against oversteer , and is not invading with good curbs. Sry for my English if I am not understandable
I would have loved to test all of them but was just a time issue with work and everything. I figured due to how close it was in the previous tests doing 1 3 5 gives a broader spectrum. Appreciate the feedback 👍
Can you do one on brake bias? I've noticed certain cars have changed since the update. I understand that's difficult as it's different for different cars, but I feel like no one has acknowledged this Personally, g3 feels very much like ACC - with my limited experience on ACC of course
After a few hundreds hours on racing sims (more like thousands now but anyway), I will always say that on the GT games, mastering driving without TC will always be faster than driving with TC, the only time I use it is on tricky weather conditions, only as a safety thing (i try using it as little as i can, not at all being the best). But if you're more comfortable and quicker with TC, continue using and abusing it, and find the perfect TC setting for you
What blows my mind, is who people/racer on the game get mad about traction control,.. when they use it in these particular car classes in REAL LIFE!!!!!
I find TC1 is perfect for me --- gives me a little bit of protection but i can still overcook it easily. So it feels much more naturally progressive now on TC1
Doesn't letting the tires break loose slow you down to though, I mean I understand this area still isn't realistic in GT but spinning the tires the car still isn't putting the power down
It's a good point, but what you find is on acceleration if the tyres spin up even briefly it could put the car in the higher part of the power band and GT is a bit weird with its power band and acceleration which can make it a bit quicker.
I never actually used it, and I do tend to spin out lately (first lap cold tires) Maybe I give the lower levels a try tomorrow, feels a bit like cheating though. But I saw a youtuber today in one of my racers and I checked out his channel.... He races with brake zone on, I was kinda surprised i thought people turned that on the first two races when the game is new and then turn it of, guess not. 🤪 But it explains why some people are still tapping the brakes on suzuka with that little bend at the end of the lap, which is ffing irritating, it's like getting brake checked. Close racing is out of the window then cause you have to keep in mind they are going to brake there.
I dunno if I'm imagining it but it feels to me like TC gives alittle more lateral grip when turning, and feathering the throttle. It's almost like trail braking with the accelerator. Also I found in this TT, if you run without TC, if you can keep the car straight, revving the tits off the car with wheelspin is just as fast, if not faster out of turn 2 than running tc
Thanks for preparing these tests, Tidge In the wet, I actually used TCS2 and found, like you, TCS1 didn't really help - it was neither one thing nor the other. Got my fastest time with TCS2, though I didn't feel a bit of a wimp when using it 😉🙃
Hey, there is a possible fault in your tests, because you used non-turbocharged cars. The tiny "lift" of the gas pedal TC does, will affect the boost and you need to wait a tiny bit to get the boost back. This was the reason why i used specific cars that were either NA or supercharged cars when i was driving with controller, since i wasnt able to manage half gas/brake pedaling or the snap countersteer with controller play. I havent re-checked it after the new "physics" patch but i felt like new patch did improve controller play more so maybe now it works fine with turbocharged cars also, previously even running on rumble strips inside corner affected the TC and in turn affected the boost.
Always thought driving games were supposed to suit an individuals style. Not to be forced to drive like the devs want. Also 1.50 hasn't fixed the broken pp car's.
That's what I'm saying!! If they're gonna do certain changes to the physics and what not they should at least put a tuning guide or course in the game that helps players to learn to tune cars better for what ever application or setting. Or at least allows us to share tunes to other players in like some community section.
To be honest, I really feel TCS benefits some greatly and others not so much. I am very aggressive with my turns. Hard on the brakes and immediately slamming the gas. For me, TCS at 2 allows me to be that aggressive because it takes that initial spin out when I make that transition from hard on the brakes to hard on the gas. For others that take a more conservative approach, TCS will only slow you down. Using Sardegna as an example. In the 787B tuned down to 800 PP. on that first left turn I come full speed, gas pedal on the floor, down to just past the 100 board, slam on the brakes as I’m turning in, and immediately slam on the gas in the apex. Without TCS at 1 or 2 the car wants to break loose the moment I slam the gas on. If I have TCS set at 2, it drags out 2nd gear for me just long enough, by bogging it down, to keep the car from breaking loose but stops engaging quick enough for me not to loose much speed. I just needed TCS to engage for a second or 2 to compensate for my aggressive driving. That said, even if you’re conservative going into that turn, the car wants to break loose slightly at the apex but not enough to loose control so if you have TCS turned on over 1 it’s bogging you down when you don’t need it to be. Very car dependent though. I have to roll TCS 5 in my Tomahawk X or my maxed out Dodge Challenger regardless of what track I’m on. Including dropping the anti-lag to off AND dropping the initial torque on the differential. Way too much power and torque going to the wheels in a car that weighs almost nothing. Wall of text, I’m sorry. Just providing my experience with TCS.
Sardinia is a very easy place to spin. It's a very fast track but with a lot of slow corners. This makes braking very difficult. To avoid a spin you have to turn on the assist. Most of the time it's the fastest way to do it without the assist, but sometimes it makes the car very unstable.
@@GeometryEX-hp9zs yeah I typically turn off the other assist but roll TCS 2 for the 3 hard left turns on that track. That said, I have the 787B dialed in to run 1:27:00 laps. Had to tweak the gears individually to drag out 2nd gear a bit and shorten 3rd gear. With TCS set at 2 I can run the 787B into the ground.
@@lukedawg2787 I can do it without assist at the Nürburgring. But Sardinia is a bit difficult. Some cars are difficult to handle, such as American muscle cars. Every time I turn, I worry about the car spinning due to excessive traction. Most of the time, turning off the assist is the fastest, because traction control will slow down the cornering. But when the corner is too sharp and there is no time to brake, you need to brake slowly, or when the car has too much acceleration ability, it is easy to cause operating errors. At this time, the assist is useful. TCS is a traction control system that is suitable for use as a novice to expert. In this process, you can gradually reduce your dependence on the traction control system. I don't turn on ABS most of the time, unless the car is really difficult to slow down, I will turn on ABS. In fact, in reality, if these electronic assists are turned off, these cars are really easy to spin on the track. The traction control is not so smooth, and it is easy to lose control of the vehicle by pressing the accelerator or brake too quickly.
I've noticed since the update that I have not been spinning out as much as I was before. I have also turned down the TCS in the last few days and my times have improved greatly.
Yea I can save the car so much better since this update. Super formula I struggle with no TC now and put it on TC 1 and could push hard, but I felt guilty the whole time lol
I played this game with all assists turned off most of the time. Until I tried to get through menu book 50. The Red Bull X2019 is fast and hard to control, and I could easily spin the car due to a mistake or worn tires, so I had to turn on TCS 3 and ABS. Only then could I control the car. Maybe American muscle cars also need assists turned on, American muscle cars are hard to turn, which can easily cause the car to spin.
I do take issue with the dry acceleration test. IMO it would have probably been a better for you to have used one of the Mission acceleration events for better in game car performance timing data unless there’s a stated reason it’s not accurate. Otherwise I appreciate you putting in soo much effort and time trying to make a entertaining video
Appreciate the comment/feedback. There's no difference between the 2 but in the lobby environment I know equal conditions is on, I don't know whether it's on, on the acceleration missions.
Let's see what tomorrow's bug fix brings. I have a sinking feeling that they're going to go back to the 1.48 physics to avoid moonshots. I haven't experienced or seen a full moonshot, but earlier today, I saw an AI driver in the 1st-gen GT-R GT500 appear to have moon gravity while rejoining Willow Springs in the Neoclassical Challenge.
Man I am not a fan of TCS at all. For me. Each their own for anyone else. No judgement here. Playing on 0 is so much more fun, & makes your personal times so much quicker. The cars feel sluggish, weird & slow to respond with TCS on & I find it makes the in grained understeer of the game even worse. I absolutely hate the feeling of it. You need to take a different line with it on, & can't rotate the car with the throttle, only the gears. I use TCS 1 on Gr1 & 2 cars as I need it for them though just to stop spinning every corner exit.👍
I am just gonna say if TC was as fast or faster all the top players would use it but pretty much none of them do. That should be enough of an indicator as to which setting is the best
Mine is on a roller and some people do, do this but if you are heavily reliant on TC in Gran Turismo then constant adjustment wouldn't be the best in my opinion.
Great video Tidge - it makes it very clear now that TC is something to absolutely consider for all drivers!

Ha... Probably wouldn't have written my comment if I'd read yours first. Exactly the same from me.
I do the same thing. I always run GR3 cars on TC1. As far as GR4 I don’t use any TC.
this makes sense.. gt3 cars are designed to run with tc, i dont play gt but appears theyve gone for a more realistic implementation.. on lfm for ac cars are restricted to what ever ac setting they have irl.. normally yoou can eek out a lil more speed in corners with it low or off but you have to be far more controlled with the throttle
Same here, too heavy a foot 🤣
Yes officer this is proof that heavy foot syndrome is real.
People get mad about TC in gt7 but forget its literally part of any modern racing series irl
Love these in depth testing videos. Thank you for this!
@@deezz6935 not sure why this is funny?
@@skltr21 He’s a troll who thinks you can’t be good unless TCS is on 0. Which, if he watched the bloody video, he’d know was a moronic opinion. Moreover, we don’t care what strangers on the internet think because they do not matter.
@@deezz6935 good one. What are you 7 years old?
I think it also adds to fuel consumption tho, since you usually apply more throttle then with no traction control
Looks like the conclusion reveals something different
Thx… you answer all the technical questions i ask myself in terms of Gt 7.
How the heck do you get tyre temp displayed? Great video Tidge!
Good question! I'm curious as well!
I have a 3rd party app that I edit into the recording. I'll be explaining it in a future video 😊
@@tidgneygod I wish PD would introduce this (and the race gaps list) into the hud on PSVR. The data is in game why not display it.
In the dry I run tc 2, in the wet I use tc 3 unless I’m low on tires then I’m running tc 5
Good job!
Thankyou, appreciate it! 💛
I Found your channel today and subscribed to it today and found it helpful 😀 👍
Appreciate it John and welcome to the channel!
Thank you Tidgney. Awesome video. You have helped me in GT7 for two years now.
For me too much information at the same time. Too much explanations at the same time. Thanks for your videos.
@@PaulTheFox1988 Yes, fair enough mate. What ever helps the individual get better, faster & enjoy the game is all good.
I only use TCS 1 at the start and 3/4 in the rain. I need to feel the limit to get closer to the max and feel the ride. Even power oversteer out of some corners is helping a lot
Thanks for this Tidg!!! An eye opener for sure!!
Map the MFD to easily accessible buttons, then toggle TC on/off whenever needed.
a lot depends on the car too. like porsch, old honda is quite good in wet even with no tc ;) thanks to their lovely gearing ratio..
What is fastest is what you're comfortable with! :)
I can use some G1 cars with TC0 but some are awful to not spin for me with TC1.
Great video man! Appreciate you taking the time to do all that.
O absolutely, but the goal is to show that TC can be useful in that situation
That's helpful I always use TC1 & TC5 in the wet.
Thank you for this video. Well explained and with concrete data to support the analysis.
I only use TC for standing starts then turn it off afterwards unless its AWD.
Gold as always. Thanks Tidge. 👌
Best GT7 channel on YT, bravo.
Appreciate the effort Tidge 👍🏼
I understand that's difficult as it's different for different cars, but I feel like no one has acknowledged this
Personally, g3 feels very much like ACC - with my limited experience on ACC of course
That would be very hard to do as you say different cars and different settings. I'll see what I can do though 👍
But if you're more comfortable and quicker with TC, continue using and abusing it, and find the perfect TC setting for you
Great video! Would be curious in the dry using TC on a car that’s a little more twitchy like the Supra. Very interesting overall though.
What blows my mind, is who people/racer on the game get mad about traction control,.. when they use it in these particular car classes in REAL LIFE!!!!!
Great tests,Tidge! Controller on auto here and my default is usually 3,sometimes Idip into 2 or 1 but never 0 other than in rally.
I always had it on 0, but I can't drive anything anymore now
Same.. But I noticed abs default helps alot more now
Would be a cool video to test brake bias and abs weak/default 👀
Same here. I noticed that abs default helps alot more now
This is very helpful, I will definitely use TC again
Hitting the rev limit while staying in the power band in the TT will give you extra grip because the power cuts.
Haldex putting in the work
I find TC1 is perfect for me --- gives me a little bit of protection but i can still overcook it easily. So it feels much more naturally progressive now on TC1
Thank you Mr Tidgney guy! I appreciate your advice 👏
Very interesting video Tidge! Thanks 👍
I’ve always used tc1 maybe because acc is my go to sim
Doesn't letting the tires break loose slow you down to though, I mean I understand this area still isn't realistic in GT but spinning the tires the car still isn't putting the power down
It's a good point, but what you find is on acceleration if the tyres spin up even briefly it could put the car in the higher part of the power band and GT is a bit weird with its power band and acceleration which can make it a bit quicker.
It doesn't matter. I use it depending on the car and track. If it makes you faster, then use it
TC1 seems to be the perfect mix in both rain and dry
I never actually used it, and I do tend to spin out lately (first lap cold tires)
Maybe I give the lower levels a try tomorrow, feels a bit like cheating though.
But I saw a youtuber today in one of my racers and I checked out his channel.... He races with brake zone on, I was kinda surprised i thought people turned that on the first two races when the game is new and then turn it of, guess not. 🤪
But it explains why some people are still tapping the brakes on suzuka with that little bend at the end of the lap, which is ffing irritating, it's like getting brake checked.
Close racing is out of the window then cause you have to keep in mind they are going to brake there.
A lot of people use those brake markers, for me they're a bit to crazy but can understand it that's for sure.
Such great content. Thank you!
Thank you soo much. Extremely interesting!
Thanks for preparing these tests, Tidge
In the wet, I actually used TCS2 and found, like you, TCS1 didn't really help - it was neither one thing nor the other.
They fixed the turbos immediately going to 0 spool on upshift
Appreciate the feedback, something I can test in the future for sure, thanks for sharing! 👍
Top work Tidge, gg's 👏.
Like deployed 👍
😎🎙🏎✅️
for the launch testing i would like to see your times for TC0 using skilled throttle application vs mash.
@@GeometryEX-hp9zs oh yeah 100% agree. American muscle is hard to keep the car straight
Don't be sorry with your comment, this is the perfect comment for this video as it helps others. Appreciate you posting! 💛
Love to know whether TC usage has a greater impact on tyre wear now
Something I'd love to test in detail
Some people are forgetting than the irl Gr3 and Gr4 cars HAVE TC and ABS.
i would like this same video on stability control and counter assists on or off .. yesss sir 🫡
Since the update I'm using TC1 to 3 depending on car as the feel is very different now for me
I do take issue with the dry acceleration test.
TC for controller players is great, always used 1 now it's even better.
Thank you Tidgney!
I honestly change my tc based on well, how much traction I feel is or isnt in the car/tyres at the time 🤷🏻♂️
Super interesting, thank you
How have you got those tyre temps??
It's a 3rd party app that I edit in OBS.
I am just gonna say if TC was as fast or faster all the top players would use it but pretty much none of them do. That should be enough of an indicator as to which setting is the best
In ACC some of the top players use TC off and others don't. It's the same here now with these test results in my opinion. I see no issue with TC1 now.
something i don't see anyone talking about is assigning tc to a roller and adjusting it per turn and straight
Mine is on a roller and some people do, do this but if you are heavily reliant on TC in Gran Turismo then constant adjustment wouldn't be the best in my opinion.
@@tidgney i was on tc2 before the update. post I dropped it to 1 and turn it up during corners in rain like the RBR TT thats currently ongoing

I use an app called sim dashboard but it's edited in on the video.
