Then they all treat him like shit, especially Marlene. So he resorts to whatever he has to to get her out. The operation hadn’t been performed. Whether he lied to Ellie or not is beside the point, he should have atleast been able to talk to her one last time and see if that was what she wanted.

Personally, in my opinion, killing Ellie to make a cure would be pointless in every aspect. Even if they managed to make a cure (which was probably very close to impossible), people might be immune to turning, but they wouldn't be immune to being torn apart by infected. A lot of people would still die unless they formed a single large group, which is impossible because it's simply not logical to keep people locked up like that, unable to live how they want. You can talk to me about this, but I still think that making a cure would be pointless, besides keeping them alive in the sense that they won't turn. They would still likely die by being ripped apart.

It'd be very disappointing to finally be immune, only to die from being ripped apart anyway. I feel like there's also a large chance that they wouldn't have even been able to create a vaccine in the first place (not saying it's impossible, but it seems very unlikely). I also think they could've just taken some blood samples and used that, because when you get bitten the fungus is going to travel in your bloodstream up to your brain anyway. The only reason they realistically would've needed to use Ellie's brain for anything medical is an autopsy or study imo.

So she is not immune, she is just protected, and she would not be able to save already infected people but the uninfected, if she lost it not only would she die but she would also get an infection straith away.
