  • After owning the 2020 Harley-Davidson Livewire for over a year, all I can say is that I truly love this motorcycle. It's got everything I could want from an electric motorcycle: fast charging, cool tech and features, a bright headlight, great acceleration - and above all, it's blast to ride! After riding the Livewire for 15,000 miles - I give you my review!

    Point of clarification about battery thermal management: the fins do their part, but the real gems are the two RAM scoops by your knees that force air into the core of the pack. The battery was carefully designed so that EVERY single cell touches the battery wall that is getting air cooling. The pack designer took great precautions to ensure that not only was there battery cooling, but that it distributed EVENLY. Anyone can cool a pack, but to do it intelligently means you try and keep all cells within 5 degrees of each other. On a motorcycle, THAT is a challenge. And this pack is evidence of a very clever solution.

      Well some people like the sound and feeling of an ICE bike, can’t fault them there. But lashing out against those that like EVs is another story

      I like Harley since i was a small kid and watched the Renegade tv series. The potato potato sound is Iconic ,it has an aesthetically pleasing engine, mechanical estetic especially on choppers were every part is an work of art, the smell of oil gas an lether, good engine vibration, low teck ...easealy customisable. I don't hate the electric bikes....I like the Lito Sora...but you have to admit it has some antiseptic RC toy fealing to it....the sound it makes. Also being so imediat fast it takes you by surprise( and is a strugle to hold to it)...I don't know...it does not feel like the acceleration is a build up of your own inner feeling resulting in a tunderous sound and rummble....as you fight the sreaming monster that the gas motorcycle is.

    I bought mine in 2020, every time I took it in for maintenance the first couple of years the dealership was always shocked at how many miles I had put on it. Absolutely the best motorcycle I've ever owned.

      @@AdventuresonZero just a hair under 20k, still shocking the hell out of the dealership lol. It had a little glitch in charging unit, they sent a guy out from the motor company to replace it, he said he’s only seen 3 with anywhere near that mileage. I don’t know why no one rides these like they would anything else, they’re more than capable and definitely more fun 😎

      Ambient conditions certainly have an effect. Had there been a headwind, likely wouldn't have gone that far. However, recently 120-130 miles at 55mph is the average.

      @@sinnwalker the highway range was using the highway riding profile. For the 130 mile range I turned acceleration and power down to 0%, and regen to 100%

    Have done about 10,000km (6200 miles) on my Livewire.
    Have had one problem when the 12v battery seemed to get to a low state of charge and the bike showed a "HV Disconnect error" , but the bike didn't leave me stranded .
    The dealer updated the firmware and it's been business as usual .
    The Livewrie isn't just a good Harley , it's not just a good electric bike , it's a good bike (in my opinion) .and I have no regrets buying it.

      That’s awesome! I had an issue as well with my 12v, however it was because I drained the lithium and tried charging at a level 1 that didn’t have enough amps, that eventually drained it. For a few hours, all the bikes batteries were completely depleted - fastest drive to the dealer ever 😆 I now have a back up 12v sitting on a trickle charger in case I have anymore issues. Glad you’re enjoying the LiveWire too!

    Thanks for responding to My Post that's Great helping others out there..if not for videos like this sales would be down and most of All we would end up with something else and possibly a lemon....so thanks again for your video's...if you don't mind me asking what and where did you buy yours from and Price.. maybe you could get people a little savings on this bike??? They would probably give you things or at least test ride a do a review everybody wins win win for All.... that's All I'm thinking about today is this bike.........

    Good video... I owned motorcycle for more than 30 years... And I bought a Livewire in 2021 as well... I with you, this bike is a blast... For the 12V USB, there is a accessories outlet availble, you need to connect it... no issue anymore with the phone.... I can give you all details if you want....

    Love it and I'm looking forward to buying one I don't take out loan's anymore so I've got another month too come up with another $2500 and then I will own my first ebike and it's gonna be this Harley.... I went out last week looking for one only to look at and the salesman didn't want me to leave I told him I was waiting one more month and he was we can get you on your bike today with no money down or put down a couple thousand dollars he's like don't use your cash😮 use the bank's money...he was pushing harder then a drug dealer.. I don't wanna explain everything he and I was talking about but you have a pretty good picture I don't wanna have any more credit if I can't pay Cash I'll wait.... I've been down this road before and it took many years too pay off All My shit and I feel so much better not owing My life to the banks...so I've said to much already but I will be going to a different dealership..... I cannot wait until I get on that bike and ride anyway smiling in more ways than most will realize...........😊😊

      Yep, I paid cash for mine as well. I avoid debt as much as I can, just the house and truck at the moment, no credit cards either. Motorcycle sales across pretty much all companies are down right now, so I imagine all sales people are being somewhat aggressive lol. The LiveWire One is a premium riding experience, you'll love it. Hopefully you can work out a fair price.

    What I really want out of an electric motorcycle that I just haven't seen yet is the bulkier models that are meant for some travel and have storage. There are multiple times a year I travel for trips and to see long distance friends, and I like the aesthetic. All I see thats being executed with any success are the sporty lightweight types. Electric cycles are still very early in their development, so when the right bike comes along, I'll be stoked

      I think you’ll see something like that in the next 3 years, a cruiser style bike. Problem that needs to be solved at the moment is the density of energy in a pack, just too heavy for a cruiser

    Excellent review, thanks!. One quibble: LW fast charging (level 3, DC) is frankly slow and is not the current market gold standard. Energica fast charging is about 60+% faster.

      Yep! Was referring to the thermal management with charging. LW does quite well with back to back charging. As far as I know, once energica went to the larger packs, heat throttling became an issue?

      Pack overheating has been a problem in the past with energia. I think it’s fixed on the new models.
      Energica goes into low power mode at 10% and the don’t recommend always charging to full. My LiveWire goes from 0 to 100% in 62 minutes.

      @@freedomiseverything It's not that Energica says that, no Lithium battery should be charged full to preserve the performance (as in max charge and power delivery).
      They all have a nominal value that's lower then real capacity to preserve that on the long run, but going lower is still better (as avoiding discharging below 20-30% if possible).
      Energica just has a software option to automatically do that for long term storage, if Livewire doesn't have it, it should because in the end it would benefit from it.

How is the gps navigation handled? is it a screen mirror where you run google maps or wayze on your phone and it displays on the bikes interface? or does the Harley phone app have this feature? on that subject are charging locations included in the navigation app too or do you need to know where you can charge at before you take a trip?     Hi. Nicely produced video. Sometimes it sounds like an HD marketing video 🙂 Yeah, I also watched Long Way Up, and also would buy this bike. The idea of a very quiet bike is extremely enticing. Right now it would be impractical for me where I live and how I ride. Perhaps in the future as a second (?) bike.

    I am ready for an electric bike. Just waiting for one with more storage, really need the bags. If they made one configured how they had it for the Long Way Up I would totally buy it. I want the more upright riding position, and rear bags.

      Yep, a lot of owners feel that was a misstep HD made with not including additional options. The only storage solution we got was a tank bag. A few of us have figured out ways to get some panniers out on

    Livewire is definitely living legend among motodome. Love that it is belt drive, with brembo brakes, and other tasteful components. However, i’d want mine to have brake levers under both hands (like bicycles or scooters), a button for Reverse (reversing ought to be a standard function on heavier machines), a neutral/coasting button that momentarily disengages motor from cell pack (this allows rider to play the hyper-mile game on hilly roads and relieves the batteries from constant amperage drain that cell packs don’t like and wheelies for days can be logic controlled), and a parking brake like all scooters and Honda’s with DCT have! To the best of my knowledge, Livewires and Zero’s come sans a parking brake. Can that be right???

      It's definitely got a premium feel to it. Reverse is just a software change, not sure why it was never included. There is a work around for coasting - set two identical rider profiles, one with regen braking, one without. Disable all the other profiles. When riding, just hit the 'mode' button and you're essentially turning regen braking on/off. Lack of parking brake can be fixed with a velcro strap and stored on the handle bar. You can also use your glove as a parking brake, just stick the lever and throttle through the opening of the glove.

    I am a proud owner of both a 2021 Zero SR/S and a 2019 DSR. I love the Livewire though! Definitely a little envious of some Livewire features.

      Yep. There were a lot of features that the DSR just didn’t have that came stock on the LiveWire. Once DC fast charging popped up in my area, and the DSR charging and motor bearings went out, it was time to switch.

      depend of region - in Poland for example ZERO with 12kW charging will be better choice bcoz we have a lot AC charging spots, you have ride with DC only but in 50-100km radis sometimes you have one DC - if DC will not work - you are stranded with 1,4kW Ac charging which you give about 20km in hour :(

    I test rode one at a HD demo ride day...wow, while the other gas bikes were simply amazing, this one to me felt like a magic carpet ride. Granted, not a big bike, but wow was I impressed! If I had the money I'd grab one, sadly the new one isn't as pretty as the original one you have. Honestly I feel the hate towards EVs is simply from people not knowing. Either they are too old to understand tech, or never driven an EV to have a clue. I must admit I was the first guy yelling out loud "you won't catch me dead in a self driving car", or "what's the point of driving a car with no sound, must be so boring", but now I can't wait to get a Tesla. I absolutely cannot stand the engine noise now (especially with a CVT), there's just something about the effortless performance feel with zero sound, I feel my blood pressure and heart rate drop by a lot, finally lol maybe my hair will grow back 😅, and I love the self driving feature, very safe and relaxing.

      It's such a cool experience to ride one. I agree with, people that hate on them typically have never ridden one and aren't forming an opinion based on experience, just perception. Very narrow minded individuals, glad that you at least tried it, and now can understand why people love them.

    Hey nice chanel. I was looking for info about livewire and saw you had a DSR2017 (my actual bike) ! Could you give me some info about the charger you did installed on each side ? I would like to get one to make charge at home or traveling sometime.

      I used two Quiq chargers from Zero, fabricated some mounts for it. I got a splitter from Tucson EV to handle the J1772 to the on board charger, and then split that to the aux port above the motor. If you search my name in the Zero Motorcycle Owners Group on Facebook, you can see all the mods I made to the bike.

    Although I love EV Im stuck between gas or electric motorcycles, I’ve always had a thing for motorcycles especially ev as they r so different, unique, quiet, it’s quite a piece of beginning of the future, and etc… but the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger is that gas motorcycles can fill up in an instant and the roar of it gets me hyped but the thing is I also like quietness so it’s like a Yin Yang type of deal, if I were to get an electric motorcycle I’d be stuck between the Zero srs and Livewire

      The instant fill up is certainly a plus on big road trips. Because all I do is TH-cam/social media - the stops to charge give me an opportunity to do some work, so it’s something that fits my lifestyle. I would say that if the sound/rumble is what excites you, perhaps EVs are not for you yet. Have you test ridden any yet? The SRS is a sexy looking bike, however I feel the LiveWire has a better feel and fit - feels higher quality.

    Ben, I’d like to ask you a few questions in order to better understand this electric moto thing. How far do you have it to the closest dealer/service? How far is it from your place to the countryside (the roads you feature in your videos? ). In my case, I live deep in the belly of the city and it takes over 20 miles of highway riding (so 70 mph) each way just to get out to the nice country roads. It would seem that at that prolonged speed the range would go down dramatically (?). Why do the manufacturers go for a strong electric motor and thus smaller range rather than less HP and more range?       Hey, Michael. I literally live in the countryside, at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. My closest dealer is about 150 miles away and usually takes me 3-3.5 hours to get there with charging considered (2.5hrs of driving). I can't really comment on the motor power to range issues - there are compromises in every design, and nothing can be 'perfect'. When it comes to speed, even reducing to 65mph would give you a bump in overall range. At 65mph for me (6'2, 220lbs), it's about 1 mile per % of battery, so around 100miles of range. Even further at 60mph, 55, etc. Hope that answered it for you

    I'm in VA as well, near Williamsburg. I would like to ask how feasible it would be to ride out to the blue ridge on day trips. I sometimes do that on my current ride. I am fine with about an hour in the saddle at a time, or a bit more, but worry that I'd get out in the sticks and have a hard time finding somewhere to top off for the return. I'd hate to be stranded up on the BRP. Also I agree with the other comments about lowering the music or raising the voice.

      Hey Bruce, so I've ridden the BRP many times, including all of Skyline on a single charge. I guess it just depends on your route. You can use the route planning site www.abetterrouteplanner.com to see what the route would look like. Just select the livewire in the vehicle list and pick where you want to go, it'll tell you where to charge and how long to keep you going. This video is almost a year old, and I've given more attention to audio! I should have some organized rides this year, you're free to come check out how it performs real world. Look up Virginia Electric Motorcycle club on Facebook for details.

      Interesting, I’m looking thru the site you recommended now. BTW a good friend of mine rode the Livewire today on a demo, and also the DelMar. He said the Livewire was crazy fast, he thought faster than my Ducati Diavel. But said the Del Mar was much more comfortable (to a cruiser guy)

    Brown seat looks GREAT on the black bike.
    Man, I know it's not a popular opinion.. but a transmission would have to help with the mileage. Even if it's just a little. Electrics make SO much torque you could really mess with the gearing if you wanted.. Wonder if they make sprocket sets for the L/W...?

      Yeah the brown seat gives it a retro style and feel - I’m really happy I went with it. I believe the color was ‘bomber brown’, a cool adage to Harley’s military background I feel. I have a friend (mech engineer) that is also a electric motorcycle owner (we just finished the MABDR together). His bike is a direct drive belt, whereas the ELW operates off a 90° motor. His bike is distinctly more efficient than mine at low speeds, and we both believe it’s because of that right angle drive, so much energy loss happens at that transfer that it negates any gains at lower speeds. I’m sure one could try with a different tooth set, however that would require a lot of customization on the back end. I considered a chain conversion, however that would be an ungodly amount of work since the rear axle is fixed and the sprocket isn’t on the swing arm.

    Hi, there! As you appear to do some serious touring on the LiveWire, could you please elaborate a bit more on the luggage issue? I think Harley have made a real mess of things here. No pannier mounts, no luggage rack, no grab rails, no bungee hooks, nothing. And how did you manage to get a tank bag onto this thing?

      The tank bag is an official Livewire item, so it fits perfectly on the motorcycle. For all of my touring bags, they are also all Harley premium onyx bags. A little ingenuity helps get them mounted and secured on the back end. Considering that Harley already did the research and created the hardware for Long Way Up, the Livewire community was let down this didn't become available publicly. I guess it's a "where there's a will there's a way" when it comes to Livewire bags and panniers. I'm currently working on my own storage solutions for panniers, others are as well.

    Subribed to channel, finally got my account. Been wathcing youtube on TV (yt app on tv) for years, and this review (and some other LW videos) made me buy this bike. After more than 20 years on all kind of motorcycles it was really a different ride on electric. Your are very good at making videos Ben, good filming and creator. Agree to other comments here that you should have much more subscribers. Maybe you should also make videos of test rides of other bikes? The new BMW 1300 adventure bike is probably going to be the best selling bike 2024, go and test ride it and make a review, I bet you get 100K++ views (just because so many search for this on yt). I dont say you should buy it, because you love your bike, but you are so good at this, AND it could be really interesting to see what a full electric rider thinking of a best selling ICE bike!       Oh wow, thank you for the kind words. I honestly don't have any interest in other bikes, the only other bikes I would even consider test riding would be other electric bikes, but even then I wouldn't be riding them because I was interested in getting them - just to help my audience gauge which one they should get. I'm not doing this for clout or views, I just love riding my LiveWires and making videos. I've never owned a petrol bike, and wouldn't even know the first place to start with a review of one, I have no experience to fall back on as to how to evaluate them. I will admit that as a previous owner of a 328i, I'm a fan of BMW.

    The level 1 only from homes really disappointing even if using 240v.

      Just a bunch of random Harley-Davidson bags. I've since abandoned these and gone for more hard luggage options. SW-Motech makes some side bags for the LW1, however I've not tried them so don't know how well they work. Apart from those, you'd have to come up with your own solution as many owners already have

    The lack of support for accessories is the reason I ultimately went with Energica (and well, I snatched a much lower price, almost 10k € less for the demo vs demo), even with the way inferior controls, and my HD experience (currently having the first Low Rider S).
    I could have made a bag holder, but I prefer something official, less risky and headache free.
    The Energica Eva is a style of bike I'm not used too, so there is that: something new.

    While DC charging can you adjust current/power? in energica i can choose between 5A and 75A (in 5A steps) sometimes usefull when you have to rest 1-2hour and dont want heat up battery

      No you can’t adjust it. Sucks because it won’t work on outlets that are at 12 amps or below, as the OBC needs 15 to kick in, and then 12 to charge. I’ve never run into a situation where the bike was too hot to charge - thermal management is phenomenal

      energica in hot days (26*C and more)
      first charging 20-80% 20-22min OK, but after first charge battery is about 38-42*C and in hot day it wont cool down for hours - so after arriving in second DC spot i started with 12-14kW power only - so this time 20-80 takes 40min
      PS what is your record on mileage on ONE day

      yeah that's something I hope Energica fixed on the Experia - I know a lot of owners complain about the overheating during charging/running.

      @@AdventuresonZero I think they can improve a little but not much - higher battery density will help more - bcoz now 20kW with 80kW power is 4C discharge and so battery heats - when they can do 40kW and still same power we got only 2C discharge so with charging (40-50kW) rate will be the same but while riding battery can cool down

    I've seen the 0-110mph video here on TH-cam and noticed the battery lost 2% in just that small burst. Can you speak about charge loss when riding hard? How many laps would you estimate this could handle on a track day, for example, with maximum Power, Regen and Throttle? Thanks!

      I can’t comment on that, as I’ve never done a track day on the LiveWire. From what I can remember, 50-60 miles of being ridden really hard. This would be a great question to ask in a LiveWire community group on Facebook/Reddit

    I’ve never owned a bike. I was going for a Zero DSR dual sport. But I had this video of yours in mind, and when the sales person was trying to sell me the DSR for more than it was listed (they had dropped $3,000 across the board for all Zero bikes in 2024), I got mad and decided to go for what my heart really wanted. I got the Livewire One. I knew the power, and was determined not to make any mistakes. Still managed to crash it in my garage. It is probably way too much bike for a first time owner, but I’m sticking with it. Three things make it formidable for a new owner: 1) The weight; 2) The power and; 3) The foot pegs which are not perpendicular to the body, but are behind. It is not an intuitive position for a new biker; I want my feet as close to the ground as possible. We’ll see.

      I've only ever owned electric bikes, the DSR was my first. Just gotta take it easy for the first few hundred miles until you get the hang of acceleration, and on the LW1 set up a custom profile with everything set to zero.

      @@Barredbard No. Think of the percentages for acceleration, power, and regen as a small range/section within the overall output. You're not actually getting access to the full 100% output for acceleration, power and regen. It's confusing 😂 set it to 0% and you'll see that the acceleration and power is reduced/softened - great for beginner riding

    I admit i have no want for an electric bike. That said, its nice to hear something positive and that some enjoy them. Me, ill stick to my single cyl relic Suzy DR. That said, it really is refreshing to hear the ebikes (if made well) can actually be a decent machine. One thing id like to ask though, have you ever ridden a gas bike? I am assuming no as you said your first motorbike was the zero.

      I have ridden gas bikes. We had dirt bikes in the Military for a short bit, and had to ride gas for my M class - however I've never owned a combustion motorcycle, although I had a 1974 Puch moped as a kid - don't think that counts though, lol

    I really want to add an electric bike to my collection. I own a fair amount of live wire stock, but I’m just not there yet. Several years ago I test Road a Zero. It wouldn’t get me from home to work. I had my heart set on that bike. The disappointment was substantial. I do look forward to the day that EV motorcycles are practical enough for my needs. It sounds funny to say, but I definitely think Harley will lead the way.

      I believe in the next 2-3 years you will see higher range production bikes. This battery tech is from 2017-2018. However harley certainly build a high quality bike. The growing electric charging network will help curb that slow battery development cycle. Have you checked PlugShare in your area? A 5-10 minute stop at a charging station might be all you need for commuting, then charge at work via 110 outlet

      heat is the biggest factor in battery degradation, and it happens more at the top and bottom ends of the battery charge. As long as you keep the battery between 30-70% when it's not being ridden for more than 30 days, should be minimal

    Nice bike but, since we still have all the charging challenges of EVs (range, charge times, infrastructure, etc), I find it hard to chose the Livewire over the Ducati Diavel (same price range).

    I plan to trade in my S1 for road glide, but not sure if I really want to do that yet. Maybe I should have both bikes in my garage? Dealer only offer $9k for my 2020 S1 with less than 1000 miles on the odometer.

      Yep, pump is located at the ‘nose’ of the motor, just behind the front wheel. Radiator is just below the handlebars. Battery is air cooled. LiveWire still has some of the best thermal management out of pretty much all manufacturers

      Damn! Hate hearing that. Lots of parts are on back order unfortunately. I needed a bar clamp from the pan america back in November and it was back order to March 2023 - a little top bar clamp. Hopefully they get it resolved soon. What part was damaged?

      @@AdventuresonZero left frame side … me and bike went sliding down the street together … I saw the oil streak in the middle of the lane and was careful to avoid it making my left hand turn … must of hit some oil AFTER I made a left turn … so much for stability control … brought it used with like 1500 miles on it. I don’t even remember how many miles I have on it now … but I do know I made a years worth of payments without riding it 😭

    I’m really disappointed that they removed the Harley Davidson from the tank and somehow that made the cost that much less. Anyway I test road one yesterday just to check it out there just happened to be a dirt bike /quad crew illegally taken over the town at the exact time I pulled out the parking lot so needless to say I had no choice but to go 💯 hoonigan and the live wire definitely didn’t disappoint actually it’s stability doing extreme riding was very impressive. I’m on a CVO road glide now but last bike was a CBR1000RR I bought new in 08. Live wire felt really dialed in I’m not a pro by far but also not a complete squid 🦑 so anyway two thumbs up on live wire

      I think there's certainly preferences on riding and touring. Taking a tour that far in that quick amount of time doesn't seem enjoyable for me - and I get that for some it is. To each their own. I like to stop frequently and check out cool things, sometimes charging locations facilitate that curiosity. What are you riding?

      @@AdventuresonZero i ride daylight to dusk, chill in a hotel or go out ans then do the same the next day, sometime ill push it to 3 days but i jusr don think a trip like that is pssible on this livewire with out wasting so much time. 100 miles of riding and an hour of stopping jusr doesnt make sense and it shows which is why they havent sold many. Now if they wer 20k i buy one for around town as a secondary bike but for 30k man there is soo many ICE options but this is just

      Depends on how and where it’s ridden, I average 120-130 miles. Might be a decade or so before we see charge times like that

    Honestly I could work with the range figures, the big problem with electric bikes for me is that I just can't afford one.

      Not sure your situation, but you can find a used LW1 with VERY low mileage for quite a steal compared to the cost new

      It’s only really effective on flat roads, once you start going up or downhill, you have to adjust the throttle to maintain speed.

    I've had three Honda GoldWing motorcycles last over 150,000 with ME owning them. Then I sold the first two to other people that put at least another 100,000 miles on the original engine. So a review asking if this motorcycle is any good after 15,000 miles, literally 1/10th of what a less durable motorcycle __should__ last ... well if you are questioning that Harley, all I can say is, Harley quality isn't that good if it isn't good already.

      Impressive mileage, what year model did you own? That’s not why I reviewed this at that mileage. Almost 99% of LiveWire reviews are done in very little time by the reviewer, most are just a demo ride while others might have been with the bike for a week. According to the manufacturer, the battery should be fine well beyond 150,000 miles. As of now, I have +40k miles on the LiveWire one. Considering I’ve only had the bike 2.5 years, that’s quite a bit of mileage on something that most tend to call a ‘commuter’.

    ive never owned a motorcycle, never was interested in motorcycles, until the livewire came along now im in love. the question is, as someoone whos never owned a bike should i be looking to buy one of these for my first bike? petrol bikes dont interest me at all dont want the upkeep oil collant etc, dont care for the sound of them.

      There is little to no upkeep with a bike. They aren't like cars. Get a gas bike like a real man and feel the freedom. Electric bikes are for a fun 2nd bike.

    It speaks to me , it says you want me but you.cant really afford me lol.
    Here in the UK its £29k which I'm sorry to say is just ridiculous.
    I Really Like it though but at the same time cost of electricity is going up so the appeal is fading.
    My ebikes are great fun and would like to have that same feeling on a bike that's properly road worthy.

      I can assure you I didn’t buy it a full or original price. Sucks that it’s out of reach for you at the moment, hopefully you can find one used for a good deal. Have you been able to ride one? The test ride is what convinced me - compared to most other big electric motorcycle brands, it rides the smoothest. What eBikes do you have?

      I can see a few second hand for just over £20, I imagine I could negotiate.
      Not had a ride of one yet but it is on my list of things to try.
      My ebikes are a mix, I have Frey ex which is awsone off road and going up and down mountains ( or steep hills that we have nearby), I got that second hand for 3k.
      I built couple of conversions with 1000w dd rear hub drive on full suspension mtb which were a good cheap option and great for light off road and commuting.
      I like the bikes because I can ride them away from the roads in peace and quite with too much effort.
      Be nice to have a road legal full speed bike though, I do have the money to buy a livewire but gotta justify the price ( mostly to my wife lol )

      @@FlyingFun. The dealership I bought mine from really wanted to get rid of it, they had it for over a year and it was the last new model in my state before the rebrand for Livewire happened. Just keep an eye out, never know when someone is in a bind and needs to liquidate their Livewire.

    Not a fan of electric I just love the sound of my road glide but I can’t get over the detail Harley puts in and no one seems to notice the headlight projects the bar and shield emblem.

      Love how there are many reasons people like to ride. I prefer the sound of the electric, and get that others like the sound of an engine. There’s so much detail that went into the LiveWire, feels very much like a premium bike

      Nice motorcycle, I like it’s look. It seems useless to have a Level 2 220v charger installed at your place (cost wise) IF it charges at the same rate as a standard 110v outlet, just my $.02 .

      @@jarhead6153 it’s the same level 1 rate, however there are some AC to DC converters that some LiveWire owners have purchased for home/level 2 use - gives about 5-6kW of DC off 240 depending on amps. An expensive option, but available

      They really should add a loud speaker to these that fires a selection of futuristic sounds downward that change based on strain to power, regen, idle, and braking. Something that's loud, but smooth and capable of being turned on and off or customized to the rider's preferences.

    Kinda sucks that level 2 charging does nothing compared to level 1. I will never use level 3 because of the battery degradation. Itd be nice if level 2 topped off in like 2 hours or soemthing like it should be.

      The battery is designed to accept level 3, no reason to completely avoid it. I have over 25k miles, and I fast charge often, battery performs the same as it did when I bought it brand new almost 2 years ago. There are worse things you can do to this battery that will degrade it, and it doesn’t have to deal with level 3 charging

      @Ben Marshall I mean I guess it won't degrade as bad because of how the battery was designed and how cooled it is. But that's when the bike is in motion. It's cool how they designed it so that every part and most cells of the battery have access to cooling.

      @@GaryKetchum808 yep, every prismatic can is touching an outer wall on the pack. Worst thing you could ever do is put it in a situation where the pack can’t be cooled, unless you out it in an oven at 100% SoC, the software won’t ever let you mess it up through charging and riding

      @@GaryKetchum808 yeah, no one publicly knows how much HD thrashed this bike in testing and prototyping to get it right, from what I know it was exhaustively extensive. Testing different thicknesses of the fins in different conditions to see what is the optimal result, helps explain the initial heavy price tag. I’m sure they are/were selling at a loss when the price got reduced $8k. You really have to try to mess it up.

      @@AdventuresonZero 19,000 miles on my 2016 Yamaha FZ-07 bought it in 2017 new. I hit a deer needed new forks windscreen ..plastic parts front fender ect. I have added side cases .. Top case with luggage rack .. tank bag ..ect. Then bought a 2008 Buell . I have put 4,000 miles on it so it now has 19,000 miles too .

    New LiveWire One owner. 1.The bluetooth isn't going to work, is it? 2. The LiveWire One App isn't going to work, is it? 3. My experience with Electrify America has yet to be customer support free. One technician assured me, "the LiveWire One will not work." 4. LiveWire One's internet and social media presence sells "connectivity and all the feature and benefits associated with the App. Starting to wonder, "what is the value of these feature and benefits that LiveWire is selling to the consumer and not providing?" Lastly, not being able to charge 70 miles from home on a Saturday at a "working Electrify America station" is a horrible feeling when LiveWire support is closed for the weekend. Is it any good after 150 miles??? LiveWire Review.

      Uggh, hate to hear about your experience - one of the growing pains of coming onto electric at the moment. It'll get better as you ride, I promise. . I think the bluetooth depends on the phone you're using. I just upgrade to a iPhone 15 Pro Max and it does not connect to my LW1, however my old iPhone 12 Pro Max had no issues connecting. With Electrify America, it depends on the model of the station and the firmware. Most EA stations work here in VA with the LW1, however in Ohio I had lots of trouble with compatibility. What's funny is that when the LiveWire first came out through HD, they had a 2 year free charging program with EA - and yet now EA claims they've never heard of the LiveWire (in my phone calls with them).
      Have you researched other charging networks? Chargepoint has always been dependable for me, as has EV Go.

      @@AdventuresonZero Just got a software update on my new LiveWire One. It will now charge on Electrify America 350kw using their App/membership. Still no Bluetooth and cannot activate App (Apple iPhone 15). On the way home (seventy miles) rode in a nasty headwind and ran out of juice a half mile from home. Parked at my works loading dock and plugged into an 110 outlet and thirty minutes later I was home. That bit I loved, why? As advertised.
