- I rode 500 miles on my LiveWire down to Concord, NC to the LiveWire test ride and demo event at a local Harley-Davidson dealer. I've been eagerly awaiting the launch of the S2 Del Mar after owning the LiveWire for two years. I feel that every motorcycle is a tool to leverage an experience we all crave - and after riding the Del Mar, I feel that this is one of the most fun motorcycles to ride at the moment.

@@AdventuresonZero I have. The closest one to me is about 2 hours away near Philadelphia, but I was planning on heading to Philadelphia the next week. Just one week off lol. My local Harley dealer is Empire Harley Davidson and I haven’t seen any demo days from them just yet.

70 miles range just isn't enough -- especially without fast charging. My typical loop is 80-100 miles of backroad/mountain road hooliganism. My ELW Livewire is perfect for that.
I still want to get some additional time with it, we both know riding behavior affects range - we just don’t know what that is yet 🤷♂️ it’s blast though!
This is the one I've been waiting on. I'm glad you got a chance to ride it and upload for us.

@@AdventuresonZero So I picked it up yesterday and had to get back to my shop for a meeting. Rode on a mix of city/freeway for about 8 miles. Still shows 99 miles of range. Note it has a Del Mar S2 specific app. It kind of feels like a dirt bike or maybe a supermoto with the thin seat width. It is more comfortable riding because you sit a few inches back vs just sitting on it. I'm 6'1" and 240 lbs. Not a small guy. It handles hwy speeds fine, but it feels more at home in the city. I haven't ridden it in sport mode yet, but it is fast enough in street mode. I previously owned a liter bike (MV) that felt good at 100mph. This is a city dweller as designed. I have a business 4 miles from home so it is perfect for what I am looking for. The tech is cool. Over the air software updates etc. I look forward to finishing a job I'm in the middle of so I can go have some fun. So, I'll know more later, but I'm happy so far.

Looks pretty cool. I like that it has the L2 charging, so many more of those around and many of them free of charge in my area.
Same here, although it’s a healthy mix now of AC and DCFC.
Man if this had DCFC I'd be alllll over it. It's the perfect lightweight hooligan bike!

430 lbs is NOT light... unless you've been riding baggers or touring bikes. CRF450 is 289 lbs wet... and doesn't need a 1.5 hour charge every 70 miles. And it's 5k cheaper.

A lot to unpack there. I would say get your license first, rent or borrow a bike first and see if motorcycling is for you. There are trade offs to consider, like weather and gear. You could easily walk or ride a bicycle if you’re concerned about emissions. If you enjoy the rental/borrowed experience and can endure the elements where you’re at, I can say that yes it’s a great bike period, no matter your experience level

I thought that one was better and stronger, but you made it sound like the del mar was more fun? And I was serious about my comment, I loved your video. The other review videos dont give you the FEELING of what its like.
@@joedenny8853 ahh ok, the Malibu experience center. Yes I have two LiveWire Ones. They’re both fun to ride, however each gives a different experience. The LW1 is like a Cadillac - it’s smooth, sexy, and an all around great ride. The Del Mar is like a drop top at Daytona - it doesn’t do much, but what does do - is a s*** ton of fun 😆 I have lots of videos about the LW1 on my channel, here’s my review of it th-cam.com/video/iETp6m3wswQ/w-d-xo.html

Definitely thinking of shifting up to this beauty once it hits Paris, France in September. My current Zero FXE is a real blast and is in the sweet spot in all areas and weighs just 130kg! I'll have to see whether the Del Mar is agile enough though dense traffic, which unfortunately makes up most of my daily commute. Thanks for the content.

I get the bike is lighter therefore more nimble but, has the Charging got faster ? because the range has not , I feel charging time is still the biggest drawback to large scale take-up.
Compared to the LiveWire, no charging is not faster. This bike isn’t meant to be a direct competitor of the flagship LiveWire one or advance in charging tech speed (that I’m aware of). I think it’s a specific bike, for a specific rider, in a specific market. I don’t think they’re trying to get LiveWire one riders to buy this, but people that aren’t looking for bigger ranger and bigger price tag, and they just want to zip around they’re local area and have fun doing it. So, just to be clear… THIS S2 Del Mar over a LiveWire? I’m first time rider/ owner going all electric… and I’m TOTALLY cool saving 7K!

I guess it depends on who you are and what kind of ride you’re wanting to have. Motorcycles are just the tools to get us the experience we’re looking for. Some people never ride beyond the single charge range of the LiveWire, others do (like me). The Del Mar is much lighter than the LiveWire one, giving it such a responsive, agile, and quick feeling. So if you’re just looking for something incredibly fun, but can’t go far. - then the Del Mar is for you!

I've been looking into getting another Sportster (sold mine some years back) or getting the Livewire and your video sold me on the Del Mar. I just need to wait for my local Harley dealer to get one. Thanks for your fun review!
You don’t have to wait on the dealer, can be ordered thru the LiveWire website, depending on your location, could be delivered to your house

I got the reservation call yesterday. Looked at it today. Didn’t ride yet because I hate the sales process, but I may pull the trigger tomorrow after a ride. I have a shop 4 miles from home. City traffic. Charge at the shop as a business expense. I couldn’t build an ev bike for the same price.

I’m really digging this bike! I have a 45 mile one way commute but if I can charge this bike at work with a 120v, dude, I’m sold! The LimeWire website reports the S2 torque is 184 FT-LB and LW One torque 84 FT-LB. Doesn’t seem possible? 🧐

It certainly feels that way, however I think it’s weight and direct drive help make up for the smaller motor. Side by side on the line, I have no idea what would take the lead as both have a similar 0-60 time.
I think it has to do with where the measure that torque number. Just like how Tesla orginally quotes 10000nm of torque for the Plaid, I believe those did not include gear ratios, final drive, wheel size, etc. Might be something similar Livewire is doing to boost numbers. If it really did have that much torque, it should be significantly quicker than the Livewire One. Should be putting down acceleration times to 100mph similar to a H2 and other liter bikes.
