  • Bike computers offer some great opportunities to get more out of your rides and out of your bike, especially when connected to an EMTB! The ability to get directions, find trails, and keep tabs on your ride stats are useful for any bike, but connecting your bike computer or head unit to your eBike opens up many more possibilities. More detailed battery metrics and motor performance stats are just a couple of benefits - Adam's here to go into more detail and show you just what you can get when you connect your computer to your e-bike!

    I'd love to connect my Garmin to the Bosch Smart System, but unfortunately, Bosch is not allowing that. Honestly, I'm not sure why they're reluctant to implement bike computer connectivity, I'm not switching to Bosch Kiox anywhere soon as I'm using my Garmin to track all my sports activities anyways. I see a lot of people complaining about it.

    If you’ve got a bluetooth derailleur (such as SRAM GX AXS) Garmin will pick that up as a sensor to display the gear you’re in… quite useful, despite my Bosch Smart System’s lack of connectivity with Garmin.

    I have a Bosch smart system on my Emtb. Unfortunately in terms of connectivity and diagnostcs information it's worst than the older version I had previously. Furthermore it does not even connect to my heart rate monitor ☹️. I really hope that Bosch will soon release these upgrades (Software) to connect to the Garmin devices and also stops creating new not backward compatible devices. This is only upsetting us nearly ex faithful fans to them

    Every E-bike should already have such a computer with Display build in to the frame, as in TQ and Specialized MasteMind. Led indicatiors are cheap and should disapear already.
    I'm waiting for new Sram motor, and maybe bigger and stronger TQ.

    • @G00glieS
      @G00glieS ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BTW TQ motor will send power data to your Garmin, so you can save on powermeter. Latest Fazua does the same and maybe some others can do it as well. Shimano unfortunately does not support this feature. Does anyone have a list of motors with this feature?

    That was a damn good video...Adam. I have an older Garmin 1030, which I find provides better navigation performance than my Bosch Nyon display. The Nyon will lag significantly when recalculating a route change; the Garmin is far better in this regard. This really is a useful video, both for people who are new to mountain biking (especially bikepacking), as well as veteran riders who have not yet used one of these devices - very useful insights.

    I want the garmin 840/830, the solar feature isn't a dealbreaker, but need the touch screen of the 800 series, so no 500 series with just 2 buttons (was ok on old App version, but not new one that is designed around touch screen inputs), and the 1000 series don't really have features that are that much better, plus the size makes it too big for a handlebar mount.
    Now if Apple would get off their ass and have more open API integration options so we could also use our apple watch. It will never be as good as the garmin gps, but a lot more practical.

      What I meant is that Bosch doesn't want you to be able to buy different products other than those made by them.
      Basically either you upgrade the display with another expensive one from Bosch, if it's possible, or you don't have an alternative (like Garmin and Wahoo) and thus you're stuck.
      This is one reason why eBikes are so freaking expensive - each one of them has a "proprietary" system, not a generic one that can be adapted/transferred from one bike to another.
