    Do NOT run a verado at WOT unless you can run it above 6000 rpm!

      @@Marcos_reyna it’s not good for them at all. They’re designed for a certain RPM range at WOT to not melt the pistons down.

      Sounds like a poorly designed motor. If it can't handle that, then why does the outboard allow it to get to that rpm range?

      @@kmcclarney it can run at 5500, just not at full throttle. Like anything, it needs to be at or climbing to the top of the RPM range at WOT. The big I6 Verado needs to run 6200-6800rpm when it’s at WOT. Keeps it from making too much heat in the cylinders. Even drag engines don’t make 100% power until 7500-9500rpm.
