    • @kenmackenzie1375
      @kenmackenzie1375 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To polish the floor implies that you're adding something to it, in most cases a sheen to make it shine. An aluminum oxide prefinished floor is considered a low maintenance type floor until you change it by adding soap cleaners, wax or other polishing products like rejuvenate or orange glo. You would be better off cleaning the floor and having a floor professional do a screen and coat to add a protective layer of polyurethane.

    So I know contractors hate this stuff but ive got a quick question. If you plan to use Rejuvenate as a temporary fix and plan to sand down the floors and properly refinish in a couple years is the emulsifier still necessary? A drum sander wont just sand it down to bare wood like normal?
    Thanks!

    • @Dirty_Bear22
      @Dirty_Bear22 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No floor shine period. Use a water based floor cleaner. If you want higher shine floors, you gotta install floors with a high factory shine…

    • @emc6511
      @emc6511 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Dirty_Bear22 BOOM! This is the smartest comment of all. Accept the fact that the original shine is temporary and when it is gone; it is gone. Use water to clean. Have no expectation of SHINE. Be satisfied it is clean. Next time buy the permanent shine higher cost flooring. YES, sounds like a plan. THANKS (PS if it is a rental; move out mop with REJUVENATE and run; will get your deposit returned because it will look great just long enough for the inspection LOL)

    • @Dirty_Bear22
      @Dirty_Bear22 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@emc6511 Thanks for the kind words! Previously forgot to add that there is nothing wrong with getting existing floors that have faded coatings screened/sanded and a fresh coat of urethane in preferred level of shine applied, gives you a factory fresh finish without total replacement, especially a good option for premium flooring.
      Don’t think there is any permanent shine flooring, the quality of the wood, urethane quality, foot traffic, outdoor soil type, and cleaning routine will determine how long the urethane lifespan is, but nothing is forever.
      Best thing you can do to extend life is vacuum daily (robot vacuum cleaners help tremendously) and use a hard floor auto scrubber with appropriate wood floor detergent every 2-3 weeks. My top pick would be the Lindhaus LW30, but they are very pricey, cheaper alternatives include the crosswave or the hizero. All three are better then mopping, since much less grit is repeatedly rubbed into the urethane.

    I have a serious question for you, I just pulled up some old carpet on a beautiful hardwood floor. The carpet pad didn't want to come up and is stuck in and out of a thick layer of what I'm assuming is glue. So to try and remove the glue and pad I got a bottle of de-solv-it contractors solvent spray which is essential oils. I sprayed the mess out of a rather larger section of the floor and it hasn't worked removing the goo and now I don't know how or what to use to absorb all the oil that's now on the floor and continuing to sit there for far longer than the toughest stain setting time suggested of 25 minutes. I pray I haven't just destroyed my floor and that you reply back with a helpful and greatly appreciated and desperately needed advice or suggestion to me solution. If you don't mind please help

    Wow…Rejuvenate is one of the 4 options I was considering putting on my hardwood floors…I didn’t use it thankfully and will toss that out. I was also thinking of Bona and I didn’t buy it.
    Do you have any thoughts about using mineral oil on hardwood floors? In my high traffic area whatever the sealant or protectant that was used has worn off so that wood is unprotected now (my house is about 80+ years old.)
    My reasoning it that if mineral oil is safe for butcher blocks and cutting boards, it would likely be a safe protectant for wood floors and also nontoxic. Do you have any thoughts about this?? Also what area do you service???

    • @jonellwanger7258
      @jonellwanger7258 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BONA IS FINE!! just PAY ATTENTION to the mixing Ratios and Follow them!! No, don’t use mineral spirits. Because if you do ever refinish the floors, the minerals spirits Will have Zero protection, it doesn’t dry like a normal oil, or finish. And it will interfere with the new finish. If you have raw wood from the finish being worn through, you need to buff and coat if you can’t afford a Refinish. BUT, buff and coat won’t remove all the dirt in The exposed raw floor. TH-cam is the Worst place to get flooring advice!!! Call a professional company near you and get Professional advice!

      Umm.. maybe use the stuff properly,
      Bona is one of the better products to clean with. You could use Loba floor cleaner. You can buy the kit on Amazon.
      But You Have To Follow The Mixing Ratio Instructions. SMALL SPRITZ in the air and let it fall, don’t get the floor wet!! Your not wet mopping your cleaning, if there is something sticky wipe it with a soft rag, don’t try to get it up with floor cleaner and mop, to much cleaner, and smearing it all around with the mop!! Your flooring professional should’ve gone over this with you!!
