Flooring guy came for just 2 hrs to do 1000 sf. Of reseal first coat. I’m wondering if he and helper really prepared the floor first in that time? He used oil based varathane. I can’t get them to come back for the second coat after 10 days😢. They keep saying they’re coming back but they haven’t. I see footprints on the hall and miss spots along the wall too. I don’t know what to do! Great video!

  • @ExpertCarpetCareMeaford

Couple problems we had with this sort of job. First, customers would accuse us of "ruining the finish" because after a good scrub and cleaning the oils and dirt are so well removed from the floor it's not as shiny. It takes all kinds of explaining to calm them down after and educate them that I didn't do anything to harm the finish. Then second, to avoid the dullness effect of cleaning, we had a polish coating we would swiffer on. It used to work great, but because the frequency of hardwood jobs is so rare, like 2-3 jobs per year, the polish would get too old on the shelf, and when we used it, it comes up streaky, no matter what you do, again causing all kinds of problems with customers. Third, we would almost NEVER get a nice empty house like this. It's usually filled with rugs and furniture and everything has to be moved, making the job take literally 3x as long to do. We finally had to give it up.

Looks like the 3m abrasive pad removed some of original stain from what I could see.. would have concerns about the amount of protective grams of poly you are getting on with a flat pad as opposed to a roller - roller I would say you would get twice the application
