Question, I just watered my roaches and noticed a male with wings has what looks like what the females do with their egg sacks. Tried looking it up but nothing about it. Woukd really like help. Maybe he's a hermaphrodite....idk
@@dshawnieeful So, the sexual dimorphism is in the last plate on their abdomen. Males are segmented, females have 1 large plate. Both males and females have wings that cover their backs. You possibly just have a big male in there :)
Different ages. They typically take 5-6 months to fully mature into winged adults, give or take a bit. You need to feed them regularly, like every few days something fresh. It will help them grow in size. Leave them something like rabbit food or make a roach chow ( I have a video for that ) that is cheap to do and it will give roaches of all sizes something to constantly eat. Typically when you buy from a petstore, they are giving you roaches that are 1-2 months old. They will almost always range in size. I do not ever suggest buying from a pet store, as you are paying a middle man for less overall product. I started my colony off extremely small with only 6 total adults, 3 female, 3 male, and about 15-20 nymphs. It's taken me nearly a year now, with further investing, to have a reasonable colony. If you have the money, I suggest you buy some that are close to adulthood. Luna Roaches sell 1"-1.5" nymphs, which are 1 or 2 molts away from being an adult. They sell 50 for 47 dollars. It may sound like a lot to invest, however, when i bought mine it cost me the same thing and i only got a few adults. I just didn't know any better. If you happen to place an order, place a comment on the order that KC Exotics suggested them. I don't get anything for it, so no sweat ^^. Just trying to spread the name :). I have bought from them multiple times now and my colony is steadily growing. It is probably the best and cheapest method to start a colony up. Cheers!
@@KCExotics I bought them on a whim. They weren't doing very well. They're just pets now. I'll see what I can do. I'll also watch your other videos. Thank you.
They do, however, if stressed or if conditions are not right, they can eject the ootheca, killing all of their offspring. Normally, it is a rare occasion. Unless you see it often, do not worry.
It’s Okay KC! Take your time! We will all wait patiently. Congrats on hitting 600 subs!
Thank you!

Are you certain its a male? Females can extend ootheca ( egg sac ) out of their body. A male abdomen is also thinner than a females.
@@KCExotics is a little bigger than the other male in their but they both have wings that cover their body while the other bigger fat ones don't

I bought 9 at a pet store earlier this year. None are adults yet and they vary greatly in size. Do you know why?
