What is your source of water? Are those white balls the water? I’ve been using cricket gel. I feed them sweat potato and freeze dried cat food, both of which they devour immediately. I started a colony by accident with leftover discoids when my beardie died. The colony is very large now.
I use water jellies found on Amazon. The clear ones. Get about 60k of them for 10 or 11 dollars. That cricket gel is far more expensive once you see how few balls actually go into making it. And the ones I use are reusable. Just fill back up with water. Those sound like fine foods to do, However, from what I learned of the community, some people look down on using cat food and dog food. I don't use mine as feeders, but just something to note. I got slammed for my roach chow video in a group because of it. Anyhow, search amazon for water jellies or water orbs and they will be an amazon choice item.
For roaches, you can use either. Pig food has almost all, if not all, the same ingredients as most rabbit food pellets. Pig food has almost all of the same materials used to make it, as premium roach foods, and you can get it in bulk, at a reasonable price, vs buying stuff branded for bugs. If you use those foods, you have to grind them up with a blender, a rolling pin, something to make it more like a powder and easier for the roaches to eat.
They are different, very similar in care. Discoid roaches are about the same size as dubia. They are about 1.5 inches long. I wish I could post a photo here of one in my hand. If you check the community section later, I'll post a photo of one.
I had used cat food and dog treats to make their food. Bad materials, now I use pig chow. It's made from a lot of the same materials as premium roach chow.
@@KCExotics 🤷♀️ Sounds fine to me. I cannot think what in cat food or dog food would be not good. Copper 🤔 or maybe other minerals Thanks for all your info!!
@@ThunderStruck15 it's mostly due to not having much nutrition and high protein, ranging from 30-40%. High protein is bad for your pets, if eating them. I recently started feeding off my nymphs, so I have taken their nutrition a bit more. So when picking food, I suggest pig food. 25lbs for around 25 dollars. Vs 5lbs of roach chow for 25 dollars.

cool!
Hi, I was wondering if I should use pig chow or rabbit food?

Thanks good to know
And where did you get the discoid roaches
I would suggest Luna roaches. I have dealt with them before and they have good roaches.
@@KCExotics I looked into it and it would have to come from Florida I’m in British Columbia Canada
Great, are you planning to get other roach species that would be interesting?
I want to get into Surinam and Banana Roaches since they are legal where I live and when I can afford to pick them up. Money is tight right now.
Are discord and dubia roaches the same

How big are they
What the heck was Facebook angry about the dry food?? 😂

@@KCExotics ah I see. The protein content is the issue !
