I live in Wellsburg, WV probably 10 minutes up the road from here. Always heard there were giants by the dam I'm going tonight with some bluegill and liver hoping I get a nice fatty. Thanks for the video.

First of all, thanks for watching! It's definitely a timing thing, and also, I've noticed it matters which direction they're swimming. Definitely could be small fish also. Honestly, I try really hard to be patient and let the rod load up to a certain point before I touch the reel. It greatly improves my hook up ratio.

I think it’s cool that you can tell, just by the bite, what catfish it is. A blue usually slams it. A Flathead is usually a subtle rod bend. And a channel is kind of a hybrid of the other two.

Sweet fish. But my pet peeve is why so many rods out? Less is more. Line tangling, weavin around bunch of rods. Sheesh. Have a clear fighting area. 4 rods would catch the same amount of fish.

I wish they put a size cap on catfish… I’d rather eat the ones that aren’t huge it’s important to put big ones like this back to breed the next generation of river monsters lol
@MileytheJeepV2 absolutely! In West Virginia and Ohio, there are size limits. Hopefully, PA is heading in that direction as well.
@@hammer-downcatfishingwithj7223 I’m in Michigan and all we have is a minimum size limit if you catch a monster you are allowed to keep it and i think that just ruins it for the future generations but from what ive seen most people won’t
@MileytheJeepV2 I feel accross the board, all states need to do better. In PA you can keep 50 a day, no size limits. That's crazy

Mooneye is the name of the fish we used for bait
I try to take most baits.
I put in the time to get a couple these rare fish. Holding them in the water & them swimming away is what I remember most of the fish. It is an experience of nature and a mutal friendship in a way he knows you let him live. Im really starting to care for these fish a lot.
I caught a baby flathead the other day about 14".. he was so cute & so strong. Awesome little guy he seemed real cheerful 😂❤

I typically fish mealworms about 18" under a bobber, below dams, current seams, creeks, and discharges
The pocket is the lower jaw

Never caught a musky, but have accidentally caught a bunch of walleye, hybrid, drum, and a small mouth believe it or not

In PA it's 3 rods per person. I live 20 minutes from the wv border where it's unlimited rods

Great idea saving these videos for winter, man. I love watching them even tho flatheads are the last thing on my mind right now.
Do you have enough content to make a video on catching bait in our area? I’m sure you don’t want to give away secret bait spots but as my wife and I only make a couple flathead trips per year (we live in johnstown pa) that’s the hardest part for us. I usually end up taking trout and live/cut ‘gills from around here and I feel we’d do much better if I could figure out how to get shad and/or mooneye quickly before a trip
