I see this and all I can think of is how much I hope Dark Horse gets the rights to produce Groo library editions for Aragones and Evanier. The larger format would make it easier to catch the details from Aragones art!
Dark Horse does have the right to publish Groo. AFAIK, problems with film elements are holding things up. Aragones told me at a convention that the plan was to do thinner hardcovers of all his work (Groo included), claiming he wasn't a big fan of omnibuses. But that was like 5-7 years ago. Still waiting.
Groo Friends and Foes was published as a library edition and the art looks amazing!!! I wish Dark Horse would do the early stories in that format too! 🙂
Not that you need it anymore, but since speculators only go for 1st appearance/death/sudden sexuality change in big 2 comics and not good art and story, you can still get almost all Madman back issues for cover price or less.
I must say that is one beautiful looking book. I don’t mind his artwork for some books. If the Venture Bros. ever continued as a comic book instead of TV, I think he’d be perfect for it.
So beautiful. Dark Horse Library Editions are still the best premium format. Though 100 is a steep price their previous LE were so affordable I guess they're making up for lost profits. And you can see how much better the paper is by seeing that the 600 pages are much thicker than the 1k pages of a Marvel Omni. I hope DHP gives Nexus the same LE treatment soon.

I've been a massive Madman fan since the first issue. This has been my most anticipated release of the year - easily. Pre-ordered when it was first solicited and FedEx says it'll be delivered tomorrow. Can not wait...
@@KingHador I'm a big fan and I think it's a pretty great book. It's all kind of out of left field. You have to go with the absurdity of it but once you get into it it's a fun read. And Allred's art really gets great. He really comes into his own. There are some affordable paperback collections that might be a better start than the library edition. Maybe get your toes wet with one of those or a digital collection and if you dig it jump into the Library Editions.
I ordered the first volume. Have wanted to read Madman for years... I'd say go for it if you enjoy reading volume 1 then stick with it as long as you continue to like it.

I would love to see you review Grandville as well, Talbot is an amazing and prolific creator (Luther Arkwright, Tale of One Bad Rat, Alice in Sunderland)

My copy just arrived literally last night via UPS, and this is one incredible book. I own the _Gargantua!_ and _Atomica!_ Omnibuses, but these look to blow both of those collections right out of the water. _Madman_ is easily one of my top five comic series/characters of all time, and words cannot express my joy that Mike Allred has not only come back to Dark Horse for these gorgeous Library Editions, but also that the early stories are now in full color (thanks to Laura) for the very first time ever. And lots of never-before-collected (in HC) stuff to boot, like _They!_ and the _Superman/Madman Hullaballoo!_ crossover.
Six volumes?! I had no Idea there was so much Madman material produced. I assume this will include the Atomics and other spinoffs. Anyway, guess I'll have to get them all.

His silver surfer was awesome,and dark horse nails it once again with their library editions.I have not seen many comics where the art really doesn't agree with me,only one that comes to mind is the new X men stand in artist who has a really scratchy style

I'm a long-time fan of Madman and have the 2007-2010 Image paperback reprints and oh gosh I'm so into the Library Edition format but... 6... volumes? I'm not sure I can swing that kind of cash if we're talking $100 retail (and living in the UK, don't have access to a certain famous US online store) each. Also if each book is around the 700 page mark I'm genuinely wondering where all the content is coming from.
I'm very much interesten in this, but now we have a new house reconstruction project so sadly I can't buy too much books. Hopefully this will be available a couple of months from now.
