I have been going back and forth whether to sell my ultimate editions and get these library editions, i decided to stick with the ultimates but now this video has got me back to being indecisive again.
@@edwardacosta9740 No, the Compendium is too unwieldy for one to be good for reading and secondly it is not oversized, has worse colour printing and worse pages (thin pages, nobody collecting books like thin pages that can bleed through art between pages.) It also does NOT have everything contrary to what the OP of this comment states. The Library Editions have far more bonus material and content, you count the total pages for the Library Editions and tally it up against the total for the Compendiums if you don't believe me. The Library Editions are definitive, they are high quality (second printing anyways, first printing did have some reported issues), collect absolutely everything and is in a much more premium format. The compendium's are literally just hardcover versions of the paperback compendium's which were already mid to collect and read through. I wouldn't recommend collecting it this way. Compare the Walking Dead Omnibus's to the Walking Dead Compendium's, one was far better than the other. The same goes for another of Kirkman's series, Invincible, which we have here. These are the best way to read them.
I need to get back to invincible. I only read the first 6 issues and didn't get any further as my heart wasn't in it at the time. Good overview as usual.👍
This series have so many editions 😮. Also i have a question for you guys: do you recommend mister miracle deluxe edition or the standart trade paperback? Cuz the price gap between two versions are huge for me
I went down the rabbit hole with Kirkman's TWD Slipcase Editions. These are on another level. I'm going to stick with my Ultimate Collection copies, but absolutely worth it for new collectors.
The original printings spine lettering is also lower than the new printings. So if you got original prints of 1, 2, and 3 the spine lettering will not line up with 4, 5, and 6.
Glad these are being reprinted. I have the first three from the first time around. I actually asked Kirkman on Twitter if they would finish them and I was assured they would. Clearly that changed but finally it’s back. Just got volume 4 delivered. Can’t wait to finish the run.
Invincible is such a great series, the ending could have been better but that can be said about a lot of series. It is a lot of fun, has some awesome twists and brutal fight scenes. Highly recommended!
I only need 3 more volumes to complete my Invincible collection with the ultimate collection, but these are really nice. My only fear while I was getting the ultimate collection was that volume 9 would have the title on the spine be a different color than the rest of the series, but it looks like they fixed that (but never updated the images online). Also none of my comics have that plain black hardcover under the dust jacket. All of the dust jacket art is also printed on the hardcovers as well. It looks like the quality control of the ultimate collection was improved over the years. I just wish that numbering of the volumes was a consistent size in the ultimate collection.
It's kinda tough going back to these early issues where Walker was doing all the art. His style was so so for me when i first read it, but after seeing how amazing Ottley's artwork was, it really just doesn't feel the same. Even later on i hated when they switched from Ottley to Walker again. Kinda ruins the immersion from issue to issue, and Walker's style just looks so bad compared to Ottley's
probably paperback compendiums. you get a lot of content at once for less money but the tradeoff is that is unwieldy to read and has a lot of gutter loss. i think those work out to around a dollar an issue
bought the hardcovers that came out, but i think im gonna be these as well as more of a collection piece and use the other ones if i just wanna flip through the book
Invincible gets yet another hc collection reprinting and here I am waiting for Kirkman to finally reprint the Astounding Wolf-Man hardcover. C'mon, dude, stop playing with your robots and toy soldiers and throw us werewolf fans a bone.
It would have been nice to have heavier and better quality paper stock for the price tag but compared to other similar Image books it’s a bit of a step down. Still a beautiful book with that oversized artwork!
Yeah, my copy arrived last week and it's a beautiful book but the paper stock should have been thicker. Still, the oversized art and lack of gutterloss make up for it.
Wait till it's finished first. They'll do it then. They usually tend to make the more premium formats of comics after a comic has concluded and cemented itself, not when they're ongoing.
I have to rebuy vol 2 and 3 hoping the reprints match vol 4 5 and reprint of 1 😂. The old printings of vol 2 and 3 don’t match the size and color of the new ones. They are an off white/cream. Vol 3 is significantly smaller than the rest. Hopefully new printings fix it all!
Is the ultimate collection getting reprinted any time soon? I mean volume 6 and the other 2 or 3 that are out of stock... I feel that is the best format and the newer ones are kind of redundant
So will they keep going and reprint all 6 volumes so they correctly match on height and color? If so, I may upgrade to these from the UHC’s. I was planning on custom binding them together to condense them before seeing this breakdown
bruh when they came out with those new hardcover printings. i felt completely betrayed i bought the 12 volumes of those hc deluxe editions. before invincible became mainstream
The 20th anniversary hc compendiums are nice, but I think that getting the 12 complete collections are nicer anyway b/c they’re oversized and the hc compendiums aren’t
@@Chomper32 i dont know i also got the 3 vol compendium tp for reading while the hc deluxe for collecting, if have to be honest i wish i had the hc compendiums instead
How many “complete edition” printings of this series are there?😂
To many 😅
Yes
I have been going back and forth whether to sell my ultimate editions and get these library editions, i decided to stick with the ultimates but now this video has got me back to being indecisive again.
just stick with it.. no point on spending that much money if you already have this series.
Just got compendium 1,2 and 3. Best way to collect this series imo.
Does that include everything for this run? I'm new to comics but I just watched the first season of this and it's badass.
@@randomguy9282 Yes buddy, all 144 issues plus all bonus material that is essential reading.
Better than this version?
It's too thick to my liking

Around issue 27 is when the art and story mesh better. The first six issues were a bore due to the art, in my opinion.
This series have so many editions 😮. Also i have a question for you guys: do you recommend mister miracle deluxe edition or the standart trade paperback? Cuz the price gap between two versions are huge for me
I prefer the deluxe. It had the full script and uncolored art for the first issue in the back
I was going to suggest get the upcoming absolute, but that would be even more pricey

Does this new release of the volume 1 spine lettering align with the original volume 2 and 3? or with the recently printed vol.4?
@@alfiotommasozacco7323 my guess is it will align with the new books

Upgrade all my ultimate collected to theses new library editions? Maybe

I agree his art was rough to get through for me
Damn I was gonna get the ultimate collection but this edition looks so damn good
Which is the most affordable way to collect this series?
probably paperback compendiums. you get a lot of content at once for less money but the tradeoff is that is unwieldy to read and has a lot of gutter loss. i think those work out to around a dollar an issue
The compendium imo. Theres only 3 plus a extra one for mini series which isn't important.
Compendium!!!! 100 percent. Softcover.
Are any of the 12 ultimate hc collections still hard to find?
bought the hardcovers that came out, but i think im gonna be these as well as more of a collection piece and use the other ones if i just wanna flip through the book
Great book.

I wish they printed Monstress in the library edition format. The art deserves it.

Wow😊
To upgrade from Deluxe or not.....😅
Selling my Ultimate editions for these.
I hope they will still continue to reprint the Ultimate hc
What takes up less shelf space. The 12 deluxe editions of these library editions? Also how many of them will there be?
i don't know about shelf space, but there should be 6 library editions total, each collecting two ultimate edition HCs worth of content
When does this come out?

Man ive just bought the hardcover compendiums =((
Mark your not invincible
Mark: let me fix that🙃
How many volumes to complete the series in this format?
6
I just received this one it took 3 months lol
Pass for me
Love the animated series, didn’t like the book. I hated all the characters in that comic. 😂. The art can be off putting sometimes.

I collected them in OHC form and will keep them, no real reason to upgrade. I like the crayola box color of the 12 spines.
