But most missions actually are too scripted, I mean even the first LS one where in additional tasks you should win a race with Lamar but since he moves on his tracks like a tram that's not like win the race and more like find a more convenient shortcut to win and not get thrown off the road. Whereas in IV cops were getting in the chase cause they actually were in area, in V they APPEAR AND DISSAPPEAR on and off the radar AND EXISTENCE (after you lose the heat some cars despawn instead of just stopping the chase, all in the first damn mission)

The most unfortunate thing about GTA V was GTA Online. The second is perhaps the fact that it was released in the same generation as GTA IV. GTA IV was the Skate 2 to GTA V's Skate 3. If you've played those games you'll know what I mean; the latter title expands the scale, but from a technical standpoint, the limit has already been reached, so compromises had to be made to achieve that scale. The compromises didn't stop the games from being successful, or good, but are felt to this day by the most dedicated fans.

Gta V story was not great not terrible I would say.My problem with V plot was that it feels more like A TV series with diffrent seasons not like an full movie like IV.Also gta V plot was to goofy for me.I mean don't get me wrong I Love gta humor but I feel like they just overdose it in V.

V dealt with betrayal, greed, corruption, the utter plastic façade of Hollywood/Vinewood and the people within it, as well as fucked up issues like government-sanctioned torture. The game actually did a lot to stir up talks about some of this shit back when it came out, but I wouldn't expect bandwagon jumpers to even attempt to try & remember that. Same shit different game. When IV came out after SA, everyone shat on it for the direction it took, the driving and downgraded weapon arsenal & overall customization especially. Give it a 5-7 years and VI will start the same cycle.
IV provokes thoughts when deciding, whether it's during the Holland play or the ending, betraying your cousin and making your sympathy hate you for that or a friend for whom you are everything vs getting revenge on a guy because of whom your life is a disaster, saving your only close family and losing your sympathy or killing a guy who would just tell someone to kill you, with the worse options rewarding the player more money V is just kill a psycho vs kill a guy with a loving wife and two children who helped you get better and richer vs save both of them and kill all enemies, and the player just casually chooses one of them in a moment, without markers on the map to go to to have more time to think about it all and decide

IV and V just tells their own story from different perspectives and it doesn't mean that the one is worse/better than another. These games both have good story and interesting characters. I agree that side characters in IV are more interesing than in V but in V they have their role and do it good enough. If we talk about the main characters, I think they are equally good in both games. Progression of the relationship between Trevor and Michael is really brilliant. Watching two ex-best friends trying to deal with each other during the srory is so interesting to see. GTA IV makes you think about harsh consequences of your actions and that you cannot just start your life from the beginning in different place ignoring what you did in a past. Even though I feel GTA San Andreas' story is the best of all GTA games, I don't understand the hate for GTA V. It feels like we're just robbing banks and doing favours for the feds and rich pricks, but each character has their own problems and depth. I think their story is very relatable. Michael has a family to care for and when he saw an opportunity to become a family man, he took it even if it meant the death of his two close friends. Franklin just wants to stop the gangbanging and get out of the hood. His parents probably died when he was young and his aunt practically forced herself into his house and act like she owns the place. Franklin has always had to look out for his friends, always helping them but getting nothing in return. Good ol' Trevor with bad upbringing, missing father-figure and mother who was most probably in and out of prison. Although, Trevor admittedly makes some horrible decisions like being a cannibal and also liking torture. You can't really blame him for the way that he is, especially when he found out that his best friend that he mourned for almost 10 years was actually still alive and that his other friend was actually dead and not in prison.
R* make their best games when they make a game with dark or serious story with dark and gritty undertones. - GTA III & IV - Manhunt 1&2 - The Warriors - LA Noire - Red Dead Redemption 1&2 - Max Payne 1,2 & 3 - Bully (Canis Canem Edit) Honestly if R* made a pure horror or survival game, they would hit a homerun with it
we must have played different games. I found the game much weaker. first half of the story is spent doing errands for people. Map is very underwhelming. I do not think V's characters are particularly likeable but neither are this game's characters. The only one I found I could sympathize with was Niko. Jacob or whatever the black dude's name was is cool too. One thing I adore about Iv though is the physics. Comparing that with V, IV makes it feel real which makes gunfights, car crashes etc very satisfying.
each time i got a new contact, i knew niko would kill him or the contact would die. i realized this halfway through the game when i met ray, i knew he was just bad enough and sympathetic at the same time to have to be killed by niko

V's coulda been a little better for me if they simply didn't make things so fast paced. Michael's dialogue in the paleto score set up says that everything from fame or shame up till that point happened in a span of "few weeks" or just a month at most, like how fucking productive can they get in such a short time!

I prefer gta games where you play as 1 character only because you get to know them better. When there are multiple MC's you have to spread out the story amongst them so everyone has their me time.

I really dont understand the blind hate gta V gets. Yeah, gta 4 is my favorite but I wish people could admit that gta v is valid too. People seem to dislike the whole idea of robbing banks in gta v and doing heists, when they fail to realize that that's a major thing in every gta. The people mocking V saying "jewelry go brrrrr and bank heists go reeee" obviously didnt play much of the older games. Look at san Andreas, 4 different heists with Catalina, the caligula casino heist, that amounts to 5 heists in that one game. No one complains about that. People are blinded by bias and nostalgia, that's all. In reality GTA V isnt all that different from the other games, but people wont realize that. They see what they wanna see. They want to seem cool and old school and want to hate on modern things because they're modern. These people are boomers in the making.

Let's be honest, when you put the plots in a way where it sounds like something more serious happened, it's obviously going to sound better. Let me explain the GTA 5 plot. GTA 5 is mostly about three people who join together and fight against the city of Los Santos, but the beginnings of the stories starts with a 49 year old man who wanted to retire from being a criminal who just robs banks, and wanted to live a life of luxury in a nice place in California, Los Santos. In order to leave that life, he faked his death to his beloved ride-or-die best friend who wouldn't just leave the life. When someone tries to steal the car of his son, he makes sure that guy is forced to leave his old life and learn how it really works. An unfortunate event happened when a tennis coach banged his wife, and they tore down a house that wasn't really his, and the rest is history. They did a jewelry job, the best friend he faked out finds out he's alive due to the line he said, he tracks him down, and they go back in business of course. Now, notice how GTA 5's story mostly happened because someone banged a tennis coach. Do you hear how weird that is? Now for GTA 4's story. GTA 4 is about a Serb who fought in the military, but when someone tips off the enemy forces, his friends in his squad are killed, leaving him and another man. He wanted revenge on the other survivor because he knew he was the traitor of the group. He spends a lot of his life going through people who were involved, shooting people who were friends with that man, and losing his people he loved. Also, the game itself gives you two choices: you get money, but you lose one of your favorite characters in-game, or you don't do the deal, but you end up losing your wife who you just married. Also, you catch the traitor of the group, and ask him why he did it. It turns out he did it for a scrawny 1,000 dollars. This completely sets off the protagonist of GTA 4, making him realize how he lost his best friends and almost everyone he loved just for 1,000 bucks. Throughout GTA 4, you are really shown how far a man would go for revenge, when really it is underwhelming and doesn't put anything on the table for you.

@@equalityforever302 Michael made a deal with Davey an FIB agent, to get Trevor killed and Brad arrested so he and his family can go to Los Santos and don't have to worry about being arrested. Plan went to shit when Brad was killed and Trevor escaped. A good portion of the heists was not a plan for them to get money, but rather funding for the FIB so they don't get turned in.
I think Michael's story was the best, although it was not possible to delve much into it due to the stories of the 2 characters in addition to Michael(Which histories kinda Z U C C), his story has a lot of wood carving to create an amazing piece, if GTA V only had Michael as the protagonist and the story would have gone deeper into him, heck that would be a good GTA in terms of history

The most unfortunate thing about GTA V was GTA Online. The second is perhaps the fact that it was released in the same generation as GTA IV.
GTA IV was the Skate 2 to GTA V's Skate 3. If you've played those games you'll know what I mean; the latter title expands the scale, but from a technical standpoint, the limit has already been reached, so compromises had to be made to achieve that scale. The compromises didn't stop the games from being successful, or good, but are felt to this day by the most dedicated fans.

lmao @ all the people in the comments saying V had no theme. It's okay if you prefer IV's grittier story and world, just don't pretend V had no depth because it wasn't your cup of tea. V dealt with betrayal, greed, corruption, the utter plastic façade of Hollywood/Vinewood and the people within it, as well as fucked up issues like government-sanctioned torture. The game actually did a lot to stir up talks about some of this shit back when it came out, but I wouldn't expect bandwagon jumpers to even attempt to try & remember that.
Same shit different game. When IV came out after SA, everyone shat on it for the direction it took, the driving and downgraded weapon arsenal & overall customization especially. Give it a 5-7 years and VI will start the same cycle.
IV provokes thoughts when deciding, whether it's during the Holland play or the ending, betraying your cousin and making your sympathy hate you for that or a friend for whom you are everything vs getting revenge on a guy because of whom your life is a disaster, saving your only close family and losing your sympathy or killing a guy who would just tell someone to kill you, with the worse options rewarding the player more money
V is just kill a psycho vs kill a guy with a loving wife and two children who helped you get better and richer vs save both of them and kill all enemies, and the player just casually chooses one of them in a moment, without markers on the map to go to to have more time to think about it all and decide

@@starless267 GTA IV is a dark story about criminal world where everyone tries to get his place under the sun while GTAV is a satirical depiction of modern California with all those pop-stars, rich mansions, showbusiness etc. So that's why GTA V has more light type of humour. IV and V just tells their own story from different perspectives and it doesn't mean that the one is worse/better than another. These games both have good story and interesting characters. I agree that side characters in IV are more interesing than in V but in V they have their role and do it good enough. If we talk about the main characters, I think they are equally good in both games. Progression of the relationship between Trevor and Michael is really brilliant. Watching two ex-best friends trying to deal with each other during the srory is so interesting to see. GTA IV makes you think about harsh consequences of your actions and that you cannot just start your life from the beginning in different place ignoring what you did in a past. GTA V tells about controversy in friendship. Of course, these games have a lot more topics to depict but I have named the general themes of both games

Even though I feel GTA San Andreas' story is the best of all GTA games, I don't understand the hate for GTA V. It feels like we're just robbing banks and doing favours for the feds and rich pricks, but each character has their own problems and depth. I think their story is very relatable. Michael has a family to care for and when he saw an opportunity to become a family man, he took it even if it meant the death of his two close friends.
Franklin just wants to stop the gangbanging and get out of the hood. His parents probably died when he was young and his aunt practically forced herself into his house and act like she owns the place. Franklin has always had to look out for his friends, always helping them but getting nothing in return.
Good ol' Trevor with bad upbringing, missing father-figure and mother who was most probably in and out of prison. Although, Trevor admittedly makes some horrible decisions like being a cannibal and also liking torture. You can't really blame him for the way that he is, especially when he found out that his best friend that he mourned for almost 10 years was actually still alive and that his other friend was actually dead and not in prison.
Trevor has no excuse for the shit he does except for being batshit insane, which in turn makes him super unlikable.

we must have played different games. I found the game much weaker. first half of the story is spent doing errands for people. Map is very underwhelming. I do not think V's characters are particularly likeable but neither are this game's characters. The only one I found I could sympathize with was Niko. Jacob or whatever the black dude's name was is cool too. One thing I adore about Iv though is the physics. Comparing that with V, IV makes it feel real which makes gunfights, car crashes etc very satisfying.

V's coulda been a little better for me if they simply didn't make things so fast paced. Michael's dialogue in the paleto score set up says that everything from fame or shame up till that point happened in a span of "few weeks" or just a month at most, like how fucking productive can they get in such a short time!

One of my favorite scenes from GTA IV is when Niko and Roman confront Darco at the end. Niko asks him why he would betray him for only 1k, but the sad truth is that Niko is even worse than him, killing individuals for no less than 5k
I prefer gta games where you play as 1 character only because you get to know them better. When there are multiple MC's you have to spread out the story amongst them so everyone has their me time.

I really dont understand the blind hate gta V gets. Yeah, gta 4 is my favorite but I wish people could admit that gta v is valid too. People seem to dislike the whole idea of robbing banks in gta v and doing heists, when they fail to realize that that's a major thing in every gta. The people mocking V saying "jewelry go brrrrr and bank heists go reeee" obviously didnt play much of the older games. Look at san Andreas, 4 different heists with Catalina, the caligula casino heist, that amounts to 5 heists in that one game. No one complains about that. People are blinded by bias and nostalgia, that's all. In reality GTA V isnt all that different from the other games, but people wont realize that. They see what they wanna see. They want to seem cool and old school and want to hate on modern things because they're modern. These people are boomers in the making.

Let's be honest, when you put the plots in a way where it sounds like something more serious happened, it's obviously going to sound better. Let me explain the GTA 5 plot.
GTA 5 is mostly about three people who join together and fight against the city of Los Santos, but the beginnings of the stories starts with a 49 year old man who wanted to retire from being a criminal who just robs banks, and wanted to live a life of luxury in a nice place in California, Los Santos. In order to leave that life, he faked his death to his beloved ride-or-die best friend who wouldn't just leave the life. When someone tries to steal the car of his son, he makes sure that guy is forced to leave his old life and learn how it really works.
An unfortunate event happened when a tennis coach banged his wife, and they tore down a house that wasn't really his, and the rest is history. They did a jewelry job, the best friend he faked out finds out he's alive due to the line he said, he tracks him down, and they go back in business of course.
Now, notice how GTA 5's story mostly happened because someone banged a tennis coach. Do you hear how weird that is?
Now for GTA 4's story.
GTA 4 is about a Serb who fought in the military, but when someone tips off the enemy forces, his friends in his squad are killed, leaving him and another man. He wanted revenge on the other survivor because he knew he was the traitor of the group.
He spends a lot of his life going through people who were involved, shooting people who were friends with that man, and losing his people he loved. Also, the game itself gives you two choices: you get money, but you lose one of your favorite characters in-game, or you don't do the deal, but you end up losing your wife who you just married.
Also, you catch the traitor of the group, and ask him why he did it. It turns out he did it for a scrawny 1,000 dollars. This completely sets off the protagonist of GTA 4, making him realize how he lost his best friends and almost everyone he loved just for 1,000 bucks.
Throughout GTA 4, you are really shown how far a man would go for revenge, when really it is underwhelming and doesn't put anything on the table for you.

Why is everyone here shitting on GTA 5? It may not be the best GTA game but it is in my opinion. It has a great story, great characters, great physics, great graphics, there's more. Have you guys never played it? Seems like it.

Nope. 4 was far better. 5 has a very shallow story, and Michael, Trevor, and Franklin have no motivation to so the things they do besides 💵
Gta 5s plot has more holes than the player after surrendering to police
@@equalityforever302 Michael made a deal with Davey an FIB agent, to get Trevor killed and Brad arrested so he and his family can go to Los Santos and don't have to worry about being arrested.
Plan went to shit when Brad was killed and Trevor escaped.
A good portion of the heists was not a plan for them to get money, but rather funding for the FIB so they don't get turned in.

I think Michael's story was the best, although it was not possible to delve much into it due to the stories of the 2 characters in addition to Michael(Which histories kinda Z U C C), his story has a lot of wood carving to create an amazing piece, if GTA V only had Michael as the protagonist and the story would have gone deeper into him, heck that would be a good GTA in terms of history
Michael's missions with his family are my favorite in the game honestly.
Michael is by far the weakest of the gta 5 protags
If you think of Gta 4 and its 2 dlcs as one story it puts Gta 5 in to more shame
GTA IV lore: "I did unspeakable things in my past that will hunt me forever. I don't know if I deserve a better life"
