I am enjoying you and your husband's videos and hope your channel continues to grow. We picked up our ID.4 Pro S in September. In prepping the car for pick-up the dealer noticed the AC not working. It turned out to be a defective hose. We were offered to take a different car or wait for the part which took two days. Since it was the color we wanted - we waited. The lack of refrigerant in your car should have been pick-up when the car was delivered to you (unless there was a subsequent leak after delivery). We also received the sun shade recall. Our letter stated a 2 hour job. The dealer said it would be closer to four since the spray had to dry. No smell as you said. They did not offer a loaner, but took me home. The point is - that working with a VW dealer that you can trust is very important. Your dealer get points for sharing the video. Your dealer seemed to have dropped the ball. You may have less choices. We're in an NYC suburb and have more choices. I follow the ID4 forum on Facebook. Perhaps you can look into dropping links there to build membership. Best Wishes
I too have a 23 with the 2 safety recalls. Here is my take: 1. door handles - I have not experienced any issues and I do pressure wash my car 2X per year, despite the objections in the owners manual. Until I experience a problem, I will leave the handles alone. 2. sun shade - if there is a fire inside of my ID4, the sun shade is the least of my problems! My annoyances are the laggy software (and the lack of OTA updates) and the steering wheel fabric that is peeling like a sunburned arm. At least I can get the steering wheel replaced...hoping a 3rd party will be able to provide software updates, since my patience with VW has worn on this issue. Overall, this is my 1st EV and I'm still happy with my decision and the overall performance of the vehicle. It's not perfect, but nothing is; however, it does meet my expectations and it has handled the recent 5" of snow with ease. I enjoy your channel and keep up the nice work!
Love your videos! I just got an ID.4 a month ago and your videos are very helpful! I love mine so much! My VW dealership does the videos as well and I love them for it!
Nice video. That sure is frustrating that the dealer did not find the missing refrigerant the first time. They seem to be looking for any excuse not to see it vs any investigation to see it.
Things I like about my ID4: (1) It is repairable - it is put together with nuts and bolts instead of rivets and glue. (2) It is one of the cheapest to insure (because of its repairability and relatively low price). Tesla Model 3 and Model X are the most expensive to insure, (3) It has a really small turning radius, which has been extremely helpful in crowded parking structures, (4) It has good build quality (unlike Tesla), (5) It feels like a normal car - not like an IPad with a motor on it, (6) It provides a good driving experience - everything feels well-tuned and precise, (7) It has good seats and generally feels really comfortable. (8) It has a dealer network behind it, and there are local people you can talk to if you have a problem. Also, it should be noted that starting with the 2023 model year, there are no major problems with software.
I got my 2023 ID.4 in April 2023 and avoided the door-handle recall. My A/C has worked perfectly. Have had few glitches in the electronics that seem to resolve themselves. I also have the sunshade recall letter, It says that the correction will take 2 hours. I plan to have this work done when I take the car in for its one-year service in early April.
I Suggested you should look into the working of your climate control. You should be using your aircon all year round .It works better if you set the temperature and forget about it In winter it will stop your windows steaming up .
Thanks for watching. We use the AC in the winter when needed as you described. The dealer has finally found the refrigerant leak. We have an appointment to get it repaired. We’ll make another video to document that experience.
Appreciate your videos - thank you. I currently lease a Tesla M3 which I enjoy. One of the best things about it is you can have mobile service where the technician comes to you instead of you going to a dealer. I am strongly considering a 2024 ID4 when my lease is up for several reasons but I do not look forward to going to the dealers for service. As you say, of course, much less service with an EV than with an ICE car.
Hi there. Thanks for watching. We are in the same boat. We also own a Model 3 and have benefited from mobile service. We made a video comparing the ownership experiences if you haven't seen it th-cam.com/video/RdqYyHtHwS8/w-d-xo.html. I would strongly consider the '24 ID.4. There will be fewer issues because it won't be new to them at the Chattanooga plant and they will have lined out the suppliers. Plus, the '24s are supposed to have pre-conditioning for charging and eventually, access to the Supercharger network, and the V4 software is supposed to be substantially better. We love our ID.4. The Model 3 is my daily drive and I wasn't convinced I'd like the ID as it is my wife's car. However, the more I drive it, the more I like it and can't recommend it enough!
Actually the video from the service agent looked amazing like you I’ve never seen that before. We got our ID.4 less than a month ago. Have had two minor issues. The first time we charged it at home couldn’t get our charge port to stay closed. Found out by trial and error the sweet spot for that, strange that it is so finicky. And on one trip the infotainment center and display on the steering wheel went black, still could drive and it rebooted be itself a few seconds later(my welcome to being an ID.4 owner moment)Other than that we love the vehicle it’s the best one we’ve owned.
Perhaps but there have been improvements from when the software was deployed in’21. OTA updates are finally coming out. Not perfect by any means but totally usable. Thanks for watching.
That's definitely one perspective that Tesla is free of problems, but having also owned a Tesla since 2019, I can tell you that's not entirely the case. I love my Model 3 too but both my wife and I loathe the seats. Thanks for watching.
Forgetting to add refrigerant sounds like a serious Quality Control problem. You wonder what else they forgot under the hood.
Thanks for watching.

Thanks, Jerry. We do share our vids on some of the Facebook and Reddit groups. If there's any we're missing, let us know. Thanks for watching!

If you knew how fast that overhead shade can burn you’d be freaked out.. don’t ignore that one!

Thank you so much!
Other than initially dropping the ball on the a/c, it sounds like your dealership does a professional job and should be commended.
Yes, I agree and we really do love the car. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, it definitely wasn't great. All is good now and we do really love the ID.4. Thanks for watching!

I have Hyundai Kona Electric here in the UK, my dealer does exactly the same by sending me a link so I can see what the technician finds.
It’s pretty cool. This is the first time we’ve had that experience. Thanks for watching!

you should of talked about the crappy software that has been plaguing these cars since inception and this is holding back many buyers.
Perhaps but there have been improvements from when the software was deployed in’21. OTA updates are finally coming out. Not perfect by any means but totally usable. Thanks for watching.
does the recall affect the 2024 models?
I wouldn’t think so.
The windows going all the way down instead going up issue.
We haven't had that issue. Thanks for watching.
Hopefully, you leased it.
Nope, but we do have a 50k mile warranty and we haven’t had any more issues except for the recalls.
VW should have fixed it the first time.
VW service is terrible.
Why in the world would you buy a Volkswagen electric car and not a Tesla? You deserve to have these problems.
That's definitely one perspective that Tesla is free of problems, but having also owned a Tesla since 2019, I can tell you that's not entirely the case. I love my Model 3 too but both my wife and I loathe the seats. Thanks for watching.
