    Hey everyone: It has come to my attention (yes, very late) that people are concerned that I didn't use the mega death, super powerful, galactic assassin 10MM ammo. I was trying to be fair. So I used the same brand and, to the extent I could, similar bullet weights. If I had used Buffalo Bore 10MM I would have had to use Buffalo bore .45 This comparison reflects the types of ammo that are typically at local stores.

      Thanks for reaffirming my decision to have my 45 ACP with me when I go camping in black bear country in Mi. soon.
      A couple of years ago I had a bear toss my camp and come back during the night looking for more food that my dumbass didn't store properly. I didn't know at the time that they ventured in that area. I only had my 22 pistol with me and had to scare it off twice in the night. I doubt that I'll ever have to use my 45 but it helps me sleep at night.

      Truth be told about legal pricks and liars is and caliber is very bad and deadly to the body of us THIN SKINNED types. In the late 1970s a cop friend said they were more worried about .22 cal because hit bones and hit lungs heart etc. Have a great day and this guy really is very good

      I love it! I almost did the same. I converted my 45 auto to shoot 45 super as well. To basically has the same muzzle energy as it's 10 mm. But the ammo is expensive and only three companies sell it. It's a give-and-take though versus buying a 10 mm as well which I almost did..... The ammo is a lot cheaper and more available.

    • @kizmo2317
      @kizmo2317 3 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      @@timarmesto2685 @Tim Armesto Not a whole lot of pathologists do forensics full time, as court and depositions are a pain in the ass and it doesn't pay well relative to other specialties. Some/many do them on the side and are contracted by local/state law enforcement agencies for the service. It is also not for those with a strong olfactory sense, as bodies found "in the wild" are always in varying states of decomposition (as opposed to hospital autopsies). The worst one I ever did was a teenager who died of self-immolation. He smelled like barbeque.
      Autopsies can take from 17 minutes to 2.5 hours in my experience and are somewhat physically demanding. A board certified forensic pathologist in the US requires 4 years of college pre-med, 4 years of medical school and 3-4 years of pathology residency. A forensic pathology fellowship is an additional year.

By the nature we'll be attracted more as a whole to what Matt does, and he's a good person to show someone that you're converting to be pro 2A after you've taken them to the range and gotten them somewhat acclimated to get them hyped. Paul is the person you show them when they are invested in the 2A and want to continue to make good investments... _"[S]ome of the things he said were contradictory to what other people had said. For example he said this happened at six thirty, while someone who was some distance away but heard the gunsfire said it happened at five thirty."_
    I'll start by admitting my post here is a bit of a tangent, which has nothing necessarily to do with firearms. That being said:
    The quote above is a perfect example of why you should *NEVER* talk to police, if you are even possibly suspected of a crime.
    While everybody knows that _"Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law"_ The part that the average joe doesn't know is that legally, literally nothing you say to police can _HELP_ to you in a court of law; any way, at all, EVER. Seriously. Telling the police you didn't do it doesn't help you. Telling them an alibi doesn't help you. It can ONLY hurt you. What Mr. Fish should have done is call 911, tell them a man has been shot, needs medical attention, and administered CPR; as he did. BUT... when asked by the dispatcher or police what happened, he should have said something along the lines of "I'm sorry, I can't answer questions until I see my lawyer." If he had done that, it's very likely he wouldn't even have been charged.
    Note it doesn't even have anything to do with lying. It's completely possible neither Mr. Fish nor the witness actually lied. One of them easily could have just been mistaken about the time. But if Mr. Fish had kept his mouth shut, there'd have been no conflicting statement at all. But instead the jury got to hear that his statement differed from a witness, a witness who had ZERO motive to lie as he assumedly didn't know Mr. Fish or the man who was shot. But Mr. Fish is accused of a crime, and if he DID commit a crime he has a clear motive to lie. So between the two, who is the jury going to believe? Or at least, who's statement are they going to put to scrutiny?
    Mr. Fish indeed might have been quite innocent, and very possibly told the police the 100% god's honest truth. Yet despite that, he spent 3 years in prison for it. Don't make that mistake. Unless you're the victim of a crime or the witness of a crime and you want to help the police find the person that did it, talking to the police could easily be the biggest mistake of your life.

    • @WilliamMcAdams

      Truth.
      Police serve their own interests - not yours.
      It just so happens police interests and civilian interest line up about 80% of the time.
      Never forget, the police answer to some form of governing power - not you. They serve and protect the governing power - not you. The police patrol and arrest in the interest of that governing power - not you.
      Rely on yourself, and your training and knowledge - never the police. Be safe, be wary, and be smart.

      @WilliamMcAdams 5 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      And of course, there ARE genuinely GOOD LEO's out there - but at the end of the day, they answer to a system that sees you as a statistic - not a person.
      If the law makers say 'X', can you really expect that LEO to forgo his salary job to protect you, a nameless person they have no ties to? That LEO's job is how he eats, how he supports his family, how his kids go to college. Don't expect anyone to turn their back on their salary and pension to save your skin - because they most likely won't.
      Be skeptical of any man who has the power to destroy your life in seconds.

However, I was pleasantly surprised to find an eloquent, well paced, and thoughtful analysis of the main points to consider when actually buying any firearm and the potential legal ramifications that go along with carrying. I think every person that has seen this video left with a lot of new information that is broken down and carefully explained in a very interesting way. I've almost done it a few times. 1911s are a key example. When you have one, GREAT! But when you don't because you're wearing gym shorts in 200°F heat, well then BAMM point made. Now if was actually required to use one, OF COURSE I would want the biggest bullet available (I train with 9mm, .40, and .45). I'm starting to think of purchasing a 357SIG barrel for my truck (anti vehicle), and carrying a 9mm drop in barrel in a Glock 27 (limited to 10 rd magazines in California so use 9mm in the .40 mags, shhhh!)

    I find it interesting that one year after the great ammopocalypse, that I was able to purchase a box of .45acp for the same price mentioned in this video from 2017. While 9mm is still stupid, .45 prices have not been effected as much, meaning it was always an expensive round to shoot frequently. Paul is DaMan.

    10mm has about a 20% increase in velocity and the number one thing that affects kinetic energy the speed of said object, in the end that extra 200 fps give the 10mm a dramatic increase in power over the 45 acp a 40% increase which using Paul's line "THAT'S A LOT MORE"

    • @Maverick966
      @Maverick966 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Rusty Shackleford It depends on bullet weight, if you use a light 10mm Hollow Point bullet it will transfer all its energy even faster and in a shorter distance than a .45 and will be better in everything

    • @Maverick966
      @Maverick966 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Rusty Shackleford If the penetration distance is too short the bullet has insufficient penetration, which is bad, according to FBI the ideal penetration is between 12 and 18 inches of ballistic gel, the 10mm with the right bullet can have the desired penetration and transfer much more energy than a 45, a lighter bullet penetrates less and transfer more energy faster, while a heavier bullet penetrates more and has more energy retention, as a result it will transfer less energy to the target, the 10mm auto is simply much more powerful than 45 ACP, the 45 is worst in everything except the recoil compared to the 10mm, it is all about physics

    • @Maverick966
      @Maverick966 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Rusty Shackleford If 10mm uses hollow point ammo it is superior in everything to the 45 ACP, there is nothing to talk about, it does a bigger permanent cavity, if you talk about FMJ you are right but not if it is hollow point ammo

    Great video. My wife has a Glock 30 and I have an XDm 10mm and I've shot both and have come to the same conclusion you have. Both are great and capable rounds. The 'flip' and recoil is more on the XDm 10mm than the Glock 30. This difference has made the XDm not fun to shoot for my wife. Surprisingly she is much more comfortable with the 230gr .45 hollow points than she is with the 180 hollow points in the 10mm. Ammo availability is a concern but I've actually found here in NH that less people own 10mm pistols and therefore 10mm is easier to purchase than the .45. You are absolutely correct on the price difference as I'm paying over a dollar a round on the 10mm ammo where the .45 can be purchased, when found, for around .75 per round. It all comes down to what you are comfortable with in the end. I love the XDm 10mm and she loves the Glock 30 .45 ACP.
    Either way, if anyone breaks into our house, it will be a really bad day for them.

    Strange times we live in to be sure. I shot 100 rounds at the range after buying it, and boy, does that 10mm bark like a pissed off Rottweiler! 45 ACP is the best defensive round. With its size it has the stopping power but not the dangerous penetration that can cause collateral damage like the 9mm, and 10mm. Even if you kill the person that you are defending yourself against, but if the bullet penetrates and injures or kill a bystander you will be responsible. You are responsible for every bullet you fire. 45 ACP is the perfect self defense round.

    • @200130769

      @@johnstockton8138 there no such thing as stopping power with anemic pistol cartridges. The 9mm has more hydrostatic shock because it is faster. Not to mention 9mm, 40, and 45 all penetrate about a foot and expand to about .7 of an inch. 9mm relies more on speed and 45 relies more on bullet weight to do the same thing

    • @johnstockton8138
      @johnstockton8138 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @James
      "there no such thing as stopping power with anemic pistol cartridges. "
      In terms of stopping power pistols are just at the lower spectrum of the scale in comparison to rifles, shotguns, and other more powerful firearms. It is not non-existent. Pistols are in the category of firearms just like rifles, shotguns and other more powerful firearms. I think the firearms community would agree that the term stopping power applies to all firearms.
      I'll give you this though. The stopping power of the 45 acp vs 9mm can be disputed. The difference between the cartridges is not night and day like a 9mm vs a 357 mag, 44 mag or a 500 SW. However, the 45 acp creates bigger wound channels than the 9mm because it is a bigger bullet and is less likely to overpenetrate due to its lower speed. This means it is effective as a self defense cartridge but yet less likely to overpenetrate compared to the smaller lighter faster moving 9mm cartridge. Remember, in any self-defense situation you are responsible for every bullet you fire. If you overpenetrate and injure or kill a bystander you will be responsible regardless.

    • @200130769
      @200130769 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnstockton8138 the whole reloading community laughs at people that refer to stopping power when it comes to pistols. No the 45 doesnt create bigger wound channels. It is bigger in diameter yes. But it doesnt expand nearly enough because it goes a lot slower. The 9mm expands more because it goes faster but it also loses velocity faster because it is a lighter bullet. That's why they both expand to .7 of an inch and penetrate about a foot. They just do it differently

    The video re-affirms my faith in the 45 acp. There scads of more modern cartridges out there but, for reasons Paul stated in the video, we once again realize that sometimes the old stuff just works.

    Great video here. I really appreciate both the pluses and the minus's of both of these calibers. Me, I currently own a 1911 chambered in .45ACP and to be honest I am very happy with it and the way it shoots. I've considered purchasing a 10mm but I just didn't have the extra funds to make it happen. I think after watching this video then I'll just stick to my trusty .45.

    Make no mistake, this is a compliment. I have never, and would never, fast forward one of your videos, Paul. (Just to clarify, I mean the first time around)
