    Someone may have commented this already but the reason the screws are chrome on the floyd is because they're stainless steel, unlike on the typical floyd rose specials. So the screws will last a lot longer without stripping, making it the "hot-rodded" floyd rose special. Just so the info is there! #themoreyouknow

    Haven't finished the video yet so don't know if you've addressed it, but the silver parts on the Floyd and nut aren't just colour changes they're stainless steel to combat corrosion and tool wear.

    I think it's a very amazing combination between retro and modern. It's an 80's superstrat with 24 frets, individual volume pots and a recessed Floyd that actually floats. I checked it out at a guitar store for demoing pedals and it felt really solidly built and sounded really great. The only downside is that it's a lot heavier than other guitars in this style, but my Chapman (which is my favorite out of my arsenal) weighs 15lbs so it felt like a feather when I tried it standing up

    • @Vkiller711
      @Vkiller711 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Vkiller711 well... That was what the store told me back then and I believed them XD.
      It was actually 10lbs when I measured it years after this comment was written, I could handle that with a wider bass strap.
      But yeah ended up selling that guitar, the weight was way too much for me. Now my range is 6.5-7.5 and won't get a guitar over 8 unless it's a Les Paul lol

    The spoke wheel gives you more torque because of the way the tool goes in, you are further away from the center and therefore have more torque, similar to switching between the short and long side of an Allen key.

    • @raygarcia4468
      @raygarcia4468 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s there for convenience not torque . Never torque down on a truss rod . Are you stupid or what ! Fucken kids don’t know shit !

    • @wea69420
      @wea69420 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@raygarcia4468 More torque on the adjustment means a more relaxed action, so less of a chance of breaking anything. If you combine that with a longer arm, which means more linear distance for the same angular movement, it allows for very precise, easy adjustments.
      You say he doesn't know shit yet you sound like you'd struggle with fucking high school physics.

    I own this exact guitar and couldn’t agree with you more, aside from setting up the bridge when I brought it home, it was damn near perfect right out of the box! @TheShinyShow 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I'm not that into the normal strat shaped superstrats, but I do like them. Is the reason to get this over a Charvel one that looks very similar just price then?

    • @mattharrison4238
      @mattharrison4238 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      GuitarWean that is the main advantage that the Schecter has, yes. It’s about $200cheaper. I’ve played both and the main difference is that the Charvel’s have 22 frets and a 12-16” compound radius and the Schecter has 24 frets with a 14” radius fingerboard. So if you prefer 24 frets and don’t need a compound radius, then the Schecter is an obvious choice .

    • @TheShinyShow
      @TheShinyShow 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I can't not have 24 frets on a guitar like that, so Schecter it would be. I constantly go off the end of my 21 and 22 fret guitars and it drives me mental.

  • @JoeyRapps1

    The SS is a great guitar. I have the Lambo Orange and the Gloss White. What makes this trem special (besides the stainless unpainted clamp and intonation screws) is the set screw that secures the bar in position. The bar just pops in and out, no constant fiddling with a screw-down mechanism that sometimes loosens when the arm swings. I don't personally like the EMG's. I've never been a fan of actives and when I took it out to a gig, they seemed muddy and didn't cut thru very well. I actually had someone in the audience complain! (who had seen my band play before). That was it. Gone. lol. I swapped them out for passives (the battery compartment route now makes a nice place for my favorite Matchbox car): a Dimarzio Steve's Special in the bridge and an Air Norton in the neck. The Air Norton worked out but, I don't think the Steve's Special was the right choice. I basically wired it like an Ibanez Petrucci JP model but, that guitar was a direct mount set-up, different animal. This is a Super Strat with a pickguard and it ended up sounding too "quacky". I'm a big forearm contour critic and Schecter (like Ibanez) gets the forearm angle right. ESP, Jackson, Charvel...all their Super Strats, you'd have to have the guitar up by your tits to have your arm in the center of the contour. Pointless. I tried this Seafoam/maple fingerboard model in GC and it played like a dream but, I couldn't deal with that color. Reminds me of Grandma's bathroom tiles. Anyhoo...Schecter is making some great guitars and this one is particularly awesome! Check it out!

    Let me just say, I have never been disappointed with a Schecter I've bought, regardless of how much I've paid for it. I'm using a deluxe c-7 right now, and the feel is great, and the fretwork was top notch. It wasn't without its needs for modifications. The pickups were meh, the bridge needed some adjusting, but it's honestly amazing.
    Again I say: I have NEVER been disappointed with Schecter guitars.

    I'm getting one of these today. Here the cleans sound really thin, but that might be the patch.
    The distorted tone was just massive, and since I have a Chapman that has beautiful crystal clean tones, I'll be using this mostly with distortion anyway.

      I play this guitar clean though my Carr Rambler and it sounds very good.It's a little rounder and less bright than the Pasadena humbucker in the neck of my Schechter USA Sunset ii - but the emg's are a lot more forgiving as well so they get along with budget amps a lot better. These EMG pickups are definitely not thin sounding. Quite the opposite.

    because the Original edge trem in the ibanez is REALLY good and has a great reputation and this looks pretty much the same design as the official floyd rose but also has the sustainiac so i dont know if they cheaped out on the floyd rose trem metals or something.

    I almost grabbed the orange one but ended up pulling the trigger on the ziricote exotic wood version.
    Absolutely killer instrument. Only thing I don’t love is the overly dark neck pickup. Also personally I don’t like the 5 way pickup selector setup and am going to replace the tone knob with a 3 way selector and also I have the Alpha/Omega Duncan pickup set coming to hopefully add some more bite to the overall sound.
    IMO a worthy successor to my Charvel San Dimas which has been an absolute workhorse for the last 7 or so years.

    great guitar...stainless frets are just fantastic, I bought a Carvin st300 back in 09 with ss frets and they are far and away the slickest slipperiest thing I have ever played. Makes bends and vibrato effortless. May have to grab one of these schecters too.

    Hey Arnold, I have been watching your videos for the past year and greatly appreciate the in depth reviews of the quality control side these guitar manufacturers. I’m curious if you would co spider trying out the Seymour Duncan Jeff Loomis blackout pickups? Perhaps you may have already. Dig the channel and the insight you offer!

    I think you'll be impressed.

    To be honest....schecter is really putting out some great guitars. The new KMlll USA id's quite expensive but a great boutique guitar. I have three schecters, the hellraiser hybrid 7 with the carbon fiber binding and the EMG 57-66 combo which in my opinion is by far the best set up of active pickups. The other schecter i bought was the hellraiser sls elite 7 piece neck through with a floyd style them and fishman fluence pick ups.....to be totally honest the EMG's sound so much better. Shelter has come so far from just like 5 years ago. I really love them.....I'll still take a fixed bridge over a tremolo. This is the guitar i should have held out for. I love your demos Arnold. Straight forward, no b.s. guitar talk that we can all relate to. And you have some monster chops. Have you demoed anything from Ola's Solara?

    Seems like a pretty cool super strat. Would you recommend this over a Charvel So Cal?

    • @victordominguez4624
      @victordominguez4624 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Steven think of it as a budget Charvel so cal, Charvel so cal has superior electronics and hardware with the Duncan super distortions (vs. the emg budget actives) and a better Floyd rose (frt 0200 over the fr special). There's also differences in the body wood as well, so cal is alder and shecter is mahogany so shecter will sound a bit darker. Other differences include the neck, I believe the shecter is a C radius and the so cal has the compound radius. Personally I like the so cal better, but buy whatever better suits your needs.

      Compund radius is the radius of the fretboard. The c shape is in reference to the neck profile and not the fretboard radius.

    the wiring would piss me off massively, i do way too many volume swells for this kind of setup. but it wouldn't really take much work to fix that, otherwise this thing is awesome.
