I’m a recent Schecter convert. Started with the Nick Johnston Strat which is KILLER…then a Reaper 6, and then I bought this exact guitar yesterday and LOVE IT! 🎸🎸🎸😃
I've been debating between this and a reaper, what is your opinion?
@@JkSmitty107 Well, I actually got rid of 2 of my Schecters (but kept the Nick Johnston Schecter Strat) and jumped way up to a Charvel So Cal Pro Mod San Dimas in lime green. Every single aspect of the Charvel makes my other Schecters look, feel, and play like toys. The Charvel is superior in every way possible.

10:39 that's just a very common issue with the toggle switch. Lay the guitar on a table and put some contact spray down on the toggle, so it'll run down to the inside of it. And then toggle back and forth a few times.
My Reaper 6 did the same thing its bloody annoying so not sure I am a fan of Schecter anymore
@@dnast01It is a simple fix or you could always replace it with a different brand. It is like getting rid of a car necause you don't like the tires.
I bought one of these with the same idea (primarily played fixed bridges in the past), and was totally enamoured by this guitar! Especially after replacing the pickups with Seymour duncans (JB & 59), plus installing a 5-way for the coil splits, this thing rocks!
Do you know / remember if there’s space for a middle pickup I’m considering making one of these hss
@@CJLB28 There is 2 inches between the humbuckers, and a swimming pool route underneath the pickguard
Did a similar thing with my Sun Valley Super Shredder Exotic FR. Put new electronics, brass block / brass claw on the Floyd and a Suhr Thornbucker in the bridge and a Duncan 59 in the neck with coil splits and it is a do it all guitar now and still didn't spend over $1500 in total (bought the guitar B-Stock and saved $400) and is easily as good as any Suhr or custom Warmoth builds I have without the over plus $3k price tag. I now have 4 Schecters and they all are excellent value for what you get especially in build quality and ready to play out of the box. The mods I did are strictly for my own tastes and needs but the Super Schredder and my PT Pro are the 2 I play the most.
@@CJLB28 I would coil tap the humbuckers instead and I feel you might be happy with the sounds you're going to get instead of trying to put that middle single coil in but it can be done. If you do that try a little 59 in the neck and coil tap that and I'm pretty sure you will be pleased with the different sounds you will get. Just a thought.
I like that you did a used guitar review -- I buy 99% of my gear used, have to, so seeing how things stand up after use is helpful. Thank you! (BTW, I came across this video b/c I just picked up one of these used, too, for a steal, and like you I hadn't really liked Floyds before, but this one just seems so much more stable than what I had played previously.)
I bought one of these because i was obsessed with getting the sustaniac, but i had an issue with the bridge pickup, so i exchanged it for the schecter banshee extreme since i liked that one alot too and it sounded so good and had such good sustaine that i no longer felt any need for the sustaniac. I can always get notes to ring out as long as i need them to on the banshee, plus i like it better when the note slowly fades out.
glad to see you giving a floyd another chance. I know to many guys who refuse to even learn. They are rather simple but can be super daunting for guys who are not use to them. To be honest with you all of my floyded guitars are blocked in the back so I can only dive down with it. Im no steve via so no reason to have to pull it up haha. Great video man!
I've been considering that myself, would make string changes and setups easier but we will see, I'm not disappointed so far!
@@belligerentamateur honestly the convenience is why I did it. I was playing out every weekend at that point and change strings often. I don’t know if I could go back anymore haha.

@@belligerentamateur my stepdad is an 80s guitarist in his bones haha. I could change strings on a Floyd before I could on a regular guitar. I didn’t own a guitar without one till last year. Honestly the only hype I buy into is the brass block from futone I have noticed on my charvels it gives it more sustain. Other than that the whole real Floyd vs Korean Floyd vs the special I have all three and while they are a little different not enough to have to change mine out on any of my guitars. I mean my prs dustie waring has a special on it and that guitar fucking rips!

Hey there, love the Lambo color on that. I've got a Hellraiser with a 1500 series fr that is so rock solid. Cost is a bit more but worth it. I'm more of a passive guy myself - the Hellraiser has a set of brimstone Schecter pickups that are steamy ! You might dig em.
I like the newer hellraisers without the abalone, always open to try them! Toured sounds great!
Had one of these for a minute and I remember the neck being extremely comfortable. I really liked the EMG retroactives. Now I'm wondering again why I sold it? Hmmm. lol

I have the surf green with maple board model. It is the best guitar I have ever owned. It was between the ache terrifying and a Charvel Pro Mod and the Schecter beat the Charvel silly. I had enough money left over to buy a Boss Mk2 Katana 50. It's my main axe live.

That issue also happened to me with my Schecter C1 Platinum but on the bridge pickup, selecting that pickup was like flipping a coin, sometimes would work but sometimes just seemed to be turned off. Time later i just took my guitar with a tech and problem solved but that might be a common problem with some schecter guitars
Simple switch contact issue. Spray electrical cleaner down into the switch, problem solved. I've had this issue with EVERY brand!

Meant to ask, did you find out what was wrong with neck pickup? Was it just a dirty selector switch or something worse?
You probably have oxidization on the switch in the neck position. It happens. DeOxit and wriggling should remove it. Happens to my CRL 3-way blade switches because I don't use the neck pickup much
Yeah I'm not sure what happened. but it righted itself and now seems to be working fine. I'll probably clean the switch at some point. Thanks for the tip!
It's been a while. Do you still have this thing? If so, do you still play it much? I'm looking for a new floyd super strat with 24 frets to compliment my 22 fret San Dimas that I've loved for the last 7 or 8 years. I don't need anything fancy or expensive (as my mexican charvel has taught me). I feel like there's this and then the $500 price gap to an RG or something like that.
Edit: I'd order from my dude at sweetwater to make sure the setup and frets and everything are on point.

Hey Kyle, loving the stuff. If you wouldn’t mind hearing some (hopefully) constructive criticism on your demo vids that might help you get more views is to try to make the videos shorter. It might be worth editing some of the dialogue in the beginning because I don’t think you started playing until the 10 min mark. Maybe start the video with some playing and then give your thoughts? Loving the stuff man, keep it up.
Not at all man, I thought the same thing once I went back and watched it but the video portions were shot about 10 days apart so my vision for the video had slightly drifted. It was definitely missing a mini demo and a lot of that early portion should have been cut. Lessons for next time, no offense taken to your suggestion at all man.
