    Its amazing how i can relate with all turns just from driving in Assetto Corsa. The sketchy downhills that unbalance the car under braking, the fast full commitment where camber really allows you to carry lots of speed and the T1 with the double apex and a understeer magnet. Even the oversteer at the exits happens exactly the same way when using a M3 GT2, for example. The way the car hit the curbs, the track limits, all perfect. Really shows the quality of the work that some guys put on AC and Sims on general.

      We saw it! It looks like a fairly stock car with minimal suspension and safety modifications to make it suitable for track use. Think of it as a GR86 Cup car or a MX5 Cup car, just slightly faster!

    Costly and frustrating but thanks for providing another data point on the downside / unimportance of stiffer sway bar on multilink suspension. Should be considered only to fine tune setups as a last option. Now more aero!

    I can't agree more with the rule changes for the Podium Sprint with literally zero communication. This has happened MULTIPLE TIMES this year with rules being bent or formats changing. It's total chaos for the competitors, those running the livestream, and most of all the people watching. I love Gridlife with all my heart but I REALLY hope they tighten that up next season.

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

      Yeaaaaaa, I share that sentiment. I love Gridlife but sometimes it just feels like it's too loosely regulated. It was fine back in 2018, when most of TA was just glorified HPDE, but now in 2024, with so many ppl putting so much effort and finances into it, it's hard for competitors not to feel hurt or screwed at times.

    Since it is still a street-ish spec, I suspect it is still mechanical grip>>>aero grip reliant on setup. (in addition to slimmer side walls on modern size tires) From my understanding, aero cars do have stiffer bars to limit floor height fluctuation for stabilization. Im not sure if there is any but having adjustable sway-bar setup could help with the setup in the future.

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      You're absolutely right, the car is still more mechanical grip than aero in its current state. So making the car excessively stiff with the bars just overall hurts grip.
      We're still working with Eibach on adjustable sway bars for these cars, but now we know not to go crazy stiff compared to OEM!

    I wanted to suggest a few things. I know the car is being developed and many changes are soon to come. Now I know from what BimmerWorld was saying that those H&R’s are very stiff and heavy. And optimizing your setup would definitely need to happen to make car grip and be forgiving (softer spring or something idk).
    Buy if your looking for more compliance but slightly less roll, may I suggest sway bars from the M4 CSL? Evolve Tuning did the M4 CSL sway bars and front hubs (which have build in camber) and gave excellent reviews. Not many people have done this but I believe they are on to something. Combine that with a CSL steering or Chasssis flash for the diff or trans and so on. And you might see nice result that will mix better with the rest of your mods.
    Also CSR is coming out and might have some specific parts you could borrow but not much news on that car as of the time I’m making this.
    Lemme know what you think def would love to brainstorm !

  • @jalisurr
    @jalisurr 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

    To what extent do you think the handling issues you're having do you think are due to the typical high weight car problems? Need a really stiff suspension setup to manage the weight, which makes it unforgiving at the limit?
    I've also generally been under the impression that you should get most of your stiffness from springs and shocks and run the smallest swaybars possible that give you the handling balance you want, especially in the rear where having a very stiff bar would make putting the power down harder - seems like that might be shown in your experience with the sway bars here.
    Changing the shootout rules partway through the season sucks though, feel for ya on that for sure. Great driving in a not ideal scenario!

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't think it's a weight problem, it's just the sway bars being extra stiff caused more harm than good in this scenario. I think what you mentioned is correct!

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Disconnecting the rear sway is a bad idea, as the unconnected sway bar has a chance of catching on the barrel of the wheels under heavy cornering. Also this would cause significant understeer and I think it would just be a temporary bandaid.

    • @jurinout8665

    The M2 is really heavy. I hope you can find some way within the rules to take more weight out the vehicle. To dial in the suspension and tires I believe you need more data. Try dataloging shock travel and tire temps using infrared sensors over the tires. If you cant measure it you cant improve it.
