Thank you so much for this one - and also for the Heel Flap and Gusset tutorial. Those were the two big sticking points which were preventing me from making my first pair of socks. I have at least half a dozen or so really good knitting books on Kindle and I went through them all but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what any of them were going on about. I should also add that I can't stand knitting patterns... All I want is to know how to do it and then I can make up my own stuff as I go along... I generally avoid video tutorials like the plague, so it was an act of desperation that bought me to TH-cam. Well! All I can say is that your tutorials are brilliant and I can finally knit a pair of socks - (with or without a pattern)! So, thank you, thank you, thank you!! 😁
I've been knitting since I was seven, but was more inclined to doing afghans, sweaters, and Fair Isle knitting. Frankly, dealing with 4 needles to make socks was daunting. Finally decided to submit to the needed discipline of those endless needles and have struggled to make socks for grandchildren. The Kitchener stitch was befuddling me until I watched the video. Thanks so much!. Warm feet for those small grandchildren give me comfort!
I just used this tutorial again this morning. I've used other tutorials for Kitchener and gotten okay results, but this one really makes it 'click' for me. I think the Kitchener toe that I just did is my best one ever. Thank you again, Tina!
How on earth I missed your Kitchener tutorial I have no idea. I did a sample today and had a loveley 'AHA' moment when I got it right. Thank you Tina!!
Hi Tina, thank you so much for this tutorial. I've looked at a lot of grafting videos but none like yours. It was clear and I could see each step as you went along. I haven't been knitting socks long and have had some crazy experiences like knitting with two different size needles (lol). I'm enjoying sock knitting. Thanks again.
Excellent video! I just finished my first sock! Thanks! Your instructions are very clear and easy to follow. One thing that I'd like to mention, is the slow motion sequence and notes that you added after for the SSK were so helpful but because I didn't know they were coming, I kept having to stop the video to follow you. Perhaps for future videos( if you haven't already) show the technique before you do on the knitting, so beginners like me can know what to do. 😀
Great video. I’m just learning how to knit socks using magic loop. Now i know how to do the toe part thanks. Did a sample sock before i do my sock hehe.
Question: where do you do the decreases in reference to the sock orientation? I’m using magic loop and i have 1/2 of the sts on top of sock and other 1/2 is at the bottom. Are the decrease on each end or do i place the markers in the middle? I saw another video and she had the markers in the middle. Thanks
So I was knitting and placed markers where the gasset was, so now I’m on the sides of my socks and have markers in the middle should I switch my needles and loop so the markers are at end of each needle so I can knit like you? And then have the socks front facing me instead of the side?
Great video, Tina. Thank you so much for that. Hey, would you consider doing a segment on how you care for all of your hand-knit socks? Not just how you wash them, but how you manage it, if you know what I mean. How do you track which ones are hand-wash and which are machine-wash? Or do you just hand-wash them all? Do you wait for all of them to be dirty and then wash them all, or do you do it when you have a couple of pairs that need washing, or what? How do you get them all to dry in a reasonable amount of time? I'm really getting into sock knitting, but I'm struggling with getting together a systematic way to care for them. Thanks for considering it.
Love this video! Just started knitting and this was my first real project, other than just squares! But when I got to just knitting around after the gusset all my knit stitches are on the wrong side. Did I miss a step? And now, starting my toe decrease, my working yarn is on the right needle and in this video its on the left. Thanks!
Carson Stratton If you could send me a picture of what you are talking about I can probably help you. Is it possible that some how you turned your sock wrong side out? Your knit stitches should be on the outside. You can still work the sock inside out you would just be working around the opposite direction than what I show in the video. Let me know if I can help more.
Just finished watching your sock tutorial. Thank you for the painstaking details - important to us new knitters. Quick question -- what make are those needles you are using on the video and where can I purchase same? Also do you have a pattern for this sock? (brown and beige stripes). Thanks again!
Thank you for such excellent tutorials! Just a question. .when you do the first decrease row are you working across the top of the sock or the sole. ..or does this not matter? Thanks ☺
Amina Yusuf I depends on which way you want the stitches to lay. If you want them to lean to the right then you would do a knit two together, if you want them to lean to the left then you would do an SSK.
You know that I learned how to knit socks from this lady. She is such a great instructor. Forever grateful.

You make the BEST videos! I can hear you and understand you and clearly see the work being done. Thank you!!

Of course you are on Ravelry. Only the best are on Ravelry in my opinion. Thank you for a brilliant sock tutorial.
I have just watched two of your videos on sock knitting, I loved them, they were both very clear and easy to follow. Tks.
Finally I found the right video for Kitchener stitch. Thank you
It is so easy to understand. Great video.
Amina Yusuf Thanks.

How many stitches should i leave for toe I'm doing a 64 sts sock with 32 on each side
you have a really nice yarn. what s the brand?
Question: where do you do the decreases in reference to the sock orientation? I’m using magic loop and i have 1/2 of the sts on top of sock and other 1/2 is at the bottom. Thank you so much . You are very clear in explaining. Can you do a video tutorial on baby (0-3,3-6,) socks.
Thank you thank you thank you
Thank you soooooo much
Effi Shaabani You are most welcome.
What 9" circular needles are you using? What yarn?
excellent

This is a great question. I will make note of it and talk about it next week on the podcast.
Mooi dat breiwerk
What is the brand name for your magic loop knitting needles?
Love this video! Just started knitting and this was my first real project, other than just squares! But when I got to just knitting around after the gusset all my knit stitches are on the wrong side. Is there a video for the cast on of this sock?
Just finished watching your sock tutorial. Thank you for the painstaking details - important to us new knitters. Quick question -- what make are those needles you are using on the video and where can I purchase same? Also do you have a pattern for this sock? (brown and beige stripes). Thanks again!
I know this is an old video, but what kind of yarn and needles are you using? What size?
Thank you for such excellent tutorials! Just a question. .when you do the first decrease row are you working across the top of the sock or the sole. ..or does this not matter? Thanks ☺
How do I know if I do a SSK or just knit two together?
Amina Yusuf I depends on which way you want the stitches to lay. If you want them to lean to the right then you would do a knit two together, if you want them to lean to the left then you would do an SSK.
Is she still around doing Tutorial ?. Last posting I can see has been over 2 year ago. I just join the group that why I'm asking ?
So, you have reached 10 stitches on each needle . . . do you do the last knit row before you begin the Kitchener stitch?
Grafting the toe off is so hard and confusing to me. I feel like I can't get it.😩😩😩
Amina Yusuf It just takes time, I see that you finally got it. Knitting sometimes requires a light bulb moment.
Good vídeo of kitchener stitch. But you talk sooooooooo much!!!! All the talking makes it confusing!!!!
I think you talk to much cuz I keep forgetting where I was.
Amina Yusuf LOL! That is possible, LOL! you can always mute the sound.
