Hi Chuck, I bought my HW80 new in 1988. Superb gun. I think it cost about £120-00 U.K. and is still in lovely condition. I recently bought a one year old HW97KT and an eighteen year old HW77 long barrel in fantastic condition for £250-00 U.K. (77 only which equates to roughly $220 approx). The 97 was £395-0 and is as new so both fantastic purchases. Cannot believe the accuracy at 30 yards. Best regards from U.K.
Great video Chuck. The scenery is beautiful. It was good to see you shooting the gun from that angle to show what a light grip you use. Your 80 definitely sounds sweet. Thank you.
Thank you Paul. Yes, the footage turned out pretty good, for having my camera 📸 sitting on the wheel well of my vehicle. That HW80 does very good with a light grip. I think that the weight of the rifle helps settle down the shot cycle, to improve the accuracy 🙂👍.
Superb gun. The best I've had . Can be boosted / tuned easily. Thwaaacck . Very accurate.Very consistent so you can rely on your fall of shot observations for those long drop shots. Even with a four five foot drop you can sight confident that the pellet should find the target. All it needs is a bit of rehearsal. This gun is up for some serious shooting if set up pro style and is exceptionally good in standard form. 88 % Marks.
Hi Chuck! I second Paul Towns comment! Awesome scenery! Shooting off a bench using a pillow or bag sure makes one lazy so it's good to get out and shoot off hand where possible. Best wishes to yourself and family!
@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 yea I was thinking the same thing, you shoot really good off hand with no leaning and your right what you said everybody should practice different shooting positions like kneeling and off hand because anybody basically can shoot good leaning against a tree or something stationary.

The best air rifle out the box is the Air Arms Pro Sport, followed by Air Arms TX200, then the HW 97, they're expensive but they are the best, you can learn to be accurate with any rifle with practice, I had a Diana with a bent barrel when i was 12 years old, no one else could hit a barn door with it, I spend all summer every day shooting it, all my pocket money and what i could earn went on buying pellets, I could get head shots on rats at 20 yards nearly every time, my first 'good' rifle was a HW 35E, the HW 80 was a good rifle it's weight made it more stable and with some fettling can be made smoother, the Pro Sport is like a tuned gun out of the box, but you have to pay for that refinement.
I have tuned this 80 and the shot cycle is a smooth thud 🙂👍 I have no Air Arms, but I do have in addition to the HW80 22, an HW95 Luxus 22, HW77 22, HW30s 177. I have been seriously thinking about getting an HW50 177.

use medium weight. it really doesnt need any thing. just shoot the crap out of it. i live in huntington beach and use to go to beeman many years ago. look for a mtm belt pouch. (for .22 long rifle). holds a bunch of pellets.
I just got a HW97KT in 22 caliber from AOA and they chronograph it with 14.66 grain pellets and the minimum speed was 692 and the maximum was 715 do you think the gun should be shooting higher then 715 at 16.69 foot pounds. I thought it would be high 700s to like 800 FPS. I'm worried it won't be enough power for hunting small game out to 50 yards tops. What do you think buddy.
I think that you are really going to like it. Don't worry so much about the numbers, that is over twice the power needed to kill a cottontail 🐇. I have taken 3 cottontails and 2 squirrels with my HW30s and it is a 7 FPE rifle. 2 of the rabbit for sure had the pellet go straight through the head with my little HW30s rifle. My HW77 is a 16 FPE rifle also and is my most accurate springer. Just practice, practice, practice from multiple distance to know your hold over or hold under.
@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 I'm use to PCPs I own 2 EDGUNS and my R3M is shooting 45 foot pounds so when I got the chrony results back from Airguns of Arizona showing 15 to 16 foot pounds I thought to myself that this guns just not gonna be enough for hunting. But I have seen videos with guys in the U.K taking game with 12 foot pounds. In all honesty I mainly want it for target shooting. Thank you for everything you told me.
Ooh and one more thing I heard you say the price of how there going up well I paid 809 dollars before tax for my HW97KT in wood stock with Stainless barrel in 22 caliber that's frinking expensive.
Just bought a new HW80 spent an hour shooting it. Over 25 yards its all over the place. Feel very disappointed as everything I've read about these rifles said how accurate they are. My cheap Crossman kicked the Weihrauch arse???
Are the stock and scope mount screws tight? Did you clean the barrel? Have you tried a variety of good quality pellets? Are you using a light hold and light trigger pull?
Had another hour with it, using a different technique and its getting better. I made the mistake of gripping it hard and leaning it on a hard surface. I've since found out that this is not the way to shoot a springer. I was trying to stop it moving, but I've read that you need to let it do its thing and have a fairly light hold? Its improved, just need to practice.
Hello, I am watching your videos with pleasure. Is the Hw 80 strong enough in stock? Or is tuning necessary? how many fps do you get in stock on average? Thanks sincerely
