Where is your Nerevarine/CoC/Dovahkiin Now? Random Responses: A Continuity Problem - Elder Scrolls 6

แชร์

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 27 พ.ค. 2017
  • This is more or less a random, unstructured response to regular discussions that occur during Live-Streams regarding Continuity in the Elder Scrolls Universe. It doesn't matter if it's from World Size to Characters, nothing is really consistent and it doesn't really matter because they don't care. That's okay, but it's something that heavily affects the answer when someone wants a concrete fact or authoritative statement regarding what is or isn't in Nirn or Tamriel.
Notice the Thumbnail is Master Neloth, he stands as an example of forced continuity that actually has no place in the main story as it was originally envisioned, and was re-inserted into Skyrim via the Dragonborn DLC to create some. Despite that, he's the best character in the game.

Nevarine? He became an immortal Demi-god that is currently chilling in Akavir.
Champion of Cyrodil? He took the place of a mad god that is currently chilling in the mind of a dead king.
Dovakin? He just kinda settled down.
One of these is not like the other.

+Justin B hermous Mora relation with Dovakhin is different then that of miraak. Miraak was in aprochya because he was forced to get there in order to save his life, and time is not the same as in Tamriel. miraak could've only been there for days or months as compare to Tamriel time. Beside during the main quest hermous mora replace us with septimus. dragonborn have different relation with Mora, that's the reason he lets us go at the end of game. so dragonborn could be ruling Tamriel as emperor and being hermous mora servent at same time. Especially, Mora mentions that allowing miraak to rule solstiem will increase his influence but his too ignorant and power hungry, so we as Dragonborn could cry out that task.

There is a chance like 3+4, that 6 may take place around the same time as Skyrim, and they might even decide to say
      "Hail"
      "Good day"
"Have you heard, the Civil war in Skyrim finally ended"
"Yes, a real bloody and sordid affair that was..."
"Quite so, and despite the Empire's victory, a dagger still found its way through the Emperor, and a member of the Elder Council!"
"Such a blow must be unthinkable to the Empire while the Thalmor are running amok throughout Cyrodil"
"It surely was, but listen to this! They say a New Emperor was found, from Skyrim no less, and they'll be making their way to the Imperial City for their coronation soon"
"My! How fast they can recover... But, Skyrim? Just who of Mede's relatives will be taking the throne?"
"No, you see, that's the thing. The people of Skyrim call him Dragonborn, and the Imperials.... *whispers* They're claiming he has the Blood of the Septims, able to relight the Dragonfires!"
"*whispers* Ah... are you saying they found a descendant of Tiber Septim... T-Talos!? Oh... Oh my, the Thalmor won't be pleased to learn that"
"I believe you're right.... I guess only time will tell how things turn out."
      "...Bye..."
      "So long"

So you mentioned Diablo-formula as the alternative to making what happened to the Dragonborn really obscure but there's another RPG's formula that Bethesda could follow. That being Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. At the beginning of the game when you first meet your party member Atton Rand he nonchalantly mentions Revan (the main character of the previous game) as a woman who followed the dark side ending. The player then has the chance to "correct" him setting up how people would refer to Revan throughout the game.
Suppose ES6 takes place a few years after Skyrim and the Dragonborn is currently leading a campaign in another province to eventually become the next Tiber Septim (this would make the character mentionable without making them present). At the beginning of the game someone could ask the player, "Hey weren't you in Skyrim a few years ago? Did you ever meet the Dragonborn?" and from this the player can say "No" and the Dragonborn will just be a male Nord warrior because fuck it or the player can say "Yes" and answer questions about the Dragonborn. "What was he like?" "Well 'he' was a she!" that could establish gender and then the player could describe the Dragonborn's class/fighting style and from that the person to whom the player is talking could make a guess about the race which the player could "correct" or "confirm". Then later at like a Thalmor Embassy someone could make direct reference to the Dragonborn's race/gender and describe their battle strategies based off of their class/combat style.
Man, am I still typing this? Make it stop!

I don't CARE if my ending is non-canon. Just make a canon ending to each game, who cares? If My dragonborn was Khajiit, i don't give a shit if in the next game they're described as Nord. Idc if all my choices in the game are non-canon, as long is the void is filled. Joining The Dark Brotherhood isn't canon? Just make it so it was just some guy who did it all, not the Dragonborn.
Bethesda should be less of a pushover and just make a canon storyline. I'm more interested in a fleshed out world than I am with my personal choices being the ones that are canon.

I suggest you to watch this /watch?v=nyI8p7g2kXc Zaric video. After watching it i care even less than before about the TES lore as a series. The Nerevarine being talked about in Oblivion and Skyrim as a Dunmer is the least of the problems really. And it would diss evaluate player stories, and there is no point in doing that just to please some minority of people who care about lore that doesn't make sense anyway. My conclusion was a) "canon" is what Beth say it is, like it or not b) canon doesn't really exist for the most part c) why care than? I always played as a caracter of it's time, separated from the past, and the future. I knew the lore of the specific installment as i progressed and that's it. Like do you know everything about human history? Mongolian history? Can you tell me something about it? Ofc not. You care about the history of your own country/the country you move to. You can ofc care much about the history of others, but you never know everything. Even if your main interest in life is history of the entire world, you never know EVERYTHING.

Well the easy way around the Nerevarine being called a Dunmer is claiming that those people are hopelessly ignorant of what really happened at Red Mountain. I guess the takeaway is that Bethesda respects head canon more than an established canon. I think that's fine. It shouldn't really matter if the story makes sense when written literally on paper, as long as it makes sense in the player's head.
As far as I see it, the hero of each game canonically is the race of that province. Dunmer, Imperial, Nord, etc. As for the conflicts that arise from the guilds, I think for myself that the roles the player performs in those guilds was just another random person. The Champion of Cyrodill was an Imperial that did only the events of the main quest, but in the events of the thieves guild quest, it was some random cutpurse thief that eventually became the grey fox. It was another person that became the speaker. Same goes for skyrim. The last dragonborn only did the main quest and the dragonborn dlc. The harbinger of the companions and the arch mage of the college were two different people.
It makes sense in my head as a way to rationalize it. There is no way a single person could do all that. From a continuity perspective, it works. Then all the factions suddenly aren't leaderless once the CoC becomes Sheogorath.

    • @nikolasrhine3252
      @nikolasrhine3252 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah, makes sense, and given the thread of "unreliable narrator" throughout TES, it is entirely possible that all those extraordinary people were fused into one person by later storytellers.
Skyrim also had the Familiar Faces mod, which allowed you to bring in your other characters as followers or opponents, which opens up the possibility that the "Dragonborn" was actually multiple people working together.
PS: And yes, my Nerevarine is an Argonian, and he's not actually the destined hero but just a random prisoner that got lucky and grew strong enough to defeat Dagoth Ur on his own, and Azura just decided to run with it ;)
Ahh, RIP Arkane Starfall, whose saves are buried in the depths of my old laptop...

Dakota Davidson that makes a lot of sense. It could also be played off that those people that brought the thieves to its former glory and the assassin that killed the emperor, etc could have been mistaken to be the dragonborn due to rumors. The dragonborn is destined to do great things so naïve people could assume only the dragonborn could influence those same things.
If it's ever brought up in future games it could be said "The dragonborn did all this, but it's speculated that it actually wasn't him, but some other person". Or the other way around like "someone man/women accomplished this, but it's speculated that the dragonborn himself actually did it".

The Elder Scrolls has beautiful lore, one of the things that boggle my head the most is how the protagonists are doing.
I like to think that the Nerevarine is in Akavir doing an expedition and that he will return shortly to aid Morrowind in several things such as protection and maybe even ruling the land.
I also believe that the Hero of Kvatch is chilling with Haskill in the Shivering Isles while they eat cheese and watch baliwogs returning to the water to heal.
While all that happening, the Last Dragonborn is gaining knowledge and power in Apocrypha, with the lovely company of Herma-Mora himself. Periodically visiting Nirn to visit places or people and then returning to his home to study more of Apocrypha's books.

I don't believe Bethesda should make the factions evil or good, but maybe instead make it dependent on the players own views. I would love it if they added multiple endings depending on which faction you help as long as they don't go "Warp in the West" in the next game and make it impactful once the quest is over.

Ynslea, Roscrea or any of the other smaller islands surrounding Tamriel would be nice, since I doubt they have enough variety to offer for the next large elder scrolls game.

I want Bethesda to make a game telling the story during the invasion of akaviri forces through out skyrim, morrowind and black marsh. I want them to focus on the narrative aspect of the game. The game would have 3 races to play with, the nords, dunmer, and argonians. I want this game to portray every POV of the races during the setting. Lastly I want the game to feel like the song from ESO "three hearts as one". They should strive for making the player feel for their character, they should put more emphasis on what hardships they face on the land of tamriel. This game should feel entirely epic but in another kind of way, a way that makes the player feel that all the hardships faced by the races were worth it.(sorry for bad english, I'm not a native english speaker)

I made up a a reason for why my Oblivion CAC isn't mentioned much except by Lucien:
When the Night Mother's crypt in Bravil and the Cheydinhall Sanctuary were destroyed, the Soldiers found evidence of my involvement in the guild as well as being a High Ranking Thieves guild member.
As such all the Statues of me were torn down and most of my good deeds were forgotten, so no one in the time of Skyrim really knows WHO exactly saved Bruma and Kvatch just that someone insanely powerful did.
I think something like that could work for the Dovahkinn as well, or perhaps the specifics were lost to time (Eg if TES6 takes places hundreds of years after Skyrim ) and they're remembered to be little more than a force of Nature, singlehandedly defeating Alduin and ending the Civil War. After his death the Aldmeri could've fought another war with the Empire and completely obliterated it and claiming Skyrim for it's own.

They should implement a "import save" system, where when you install let's say, Oblivion, you can load your Morrowind save file in it, and your choices from the previous game carry on in the new one. Exactly like what Bioware did for the Mass Effect trilogy, you can play it like one single game.

What I'd really be interested in is a Telltale game set in Tamriel.
    "Tales From Tamriel."
    but to answer your question:
    - Blackmarsh is an excellent choice because It would be a rich and unique atmosphere to set a game in, but in many ways, it is ill-suited to an open world RPG. If they set an "Elder Scrolls Adventure" game here, they could explore the fascinating lore of Argonia while avoiding many of the pitfalls that would be present in an open world RPG counterpart.
    - All this could be said for Elswyre as well. Both of these regions sound amazing in theory but could potentially be nightmares in execution. If they do an adventure game, then they can guide you through the parts of the world that make sense, instead of allowing you to unravel the continuity in an open world environment.

I imagine the same people who enjoy Telltale games also enjoy Visual Novels. That's essentially what Telltale games are.
I do love the art style of TWD/Wolf Among Us, though. The idea of using lowpoly meshes + lower res textures but stylizing them is genius to me, and I wish TES would take a hint from that. They could justify lower res textures/meshes and make room for amazing lighting + effects, while still achieving a beautiful effect. Breath of the Wild did this pretty well.

Heh, ESO isn't that much of a success in comparison to what they expected and compared to Skyrim's success. I think TES VI will come out fine, maybe delayed due to the unexpected not-enough-success-and-critical-acclaim of Fallout 4. Everything here is speculation on my part, naturally.
I'd like a TES Adventures game, I think this would be a great idea for them to live out their cinematic game design desires that they botch a lot of the time in the sandbox titles.
I think any part of Tamriel where the population is mostly hostile would be good for an adventures title, maybe parts of Akavir or where those sloth people live. Have a quest hub at most, make it rather linear and fulfill your cinematic desires. That finally would be a chance to explore these parts of lore as well.

What I would like to see is something similar to Dragon Age's Keep. The keep allows you to enter the choices you made in previous Dragon Age games. For example, you can enter in your character information, decisions, relationships, quest outcomes, and so on in the keep. Based on your input for Dragon Age 1 and 2, Dragon Age 3's world, lore, and character dialogue were subtly altered to fit with the outcomes/head canon of the player's previous games. Something like this is wholly tenable (as its been done before) and would create continuity between the player's experiences in past Elder Scrolls games.

I could imagine them making a new ES Adventure set in a realistic non-representative sized city, possibly one of the more 'Imperialised' argonain cities that has began letting those of other races live there or maybe it already had a relatively diverse population (if they're gonna try an make it real I image at most 20% of the population would be non-argonaian), I think Stormhold would be a good pick.
I say this because they've never had a city large enough to have what city's have. By that I mean different areas of the city where the different races and race-groups reside, the more guarded areas for the rich, an actual grand castle where the local leader resides. Maybe a plot about a vigilante fighting crime or an an-xil (however it's spelt) sent by the king to investigate something or someone.

this is why I love BioWare's Dragon Age. in the game series they kept track of every little choice you made and how it had a effect on the world. like they would be little hint and east eggs too, or a person your old character saved, you can talk to. I loved that I had a perfect play though in my vision and they made that have ts effects in Inquisition, their newest Dragon Age game. I can hear stories about my 1st game character for his lover who has a strong role in Inquisition. like she told me he is alive and looking for a Grey Warden cure. also the character you play as in the second game has a strong role two, like he helps you fight the threat in the game.

  • @Plachno85

Something with a random dungeon generator, that would be a cool feature - a throwback to the old days and a useful tool for future projects as well. Just take a note from daggerfall and make the quests and the dungeons randomly generated, but have the team hand craft certain locations and write some decent quests to sprinkle in here and there with a fun main quest that explains the setting and why you're dungeon delving so often.
I know that everyone wants an open world, but that can definitely weigh into the development of other areas of the game. Just nix the open world and go back to a redguard style experience, but utilize the fast travel and dungeon marking of daggerfall and just have characters find maps or receive quests to go to the randomly generated (Or hand crafted main/side quest) location. If we place emphasis on the action/adventure hack n slash with light rpg elements, the team could tell a pretty cool story like redguard or battlespire - a nice taste of elder scrolls while you wait for the big open world experience to come out after. I think KOTOR would be a good example, but with random dungeon generation
This would be a spin off for sure and not replace the main series. It would just allow the team to tell more detailed stories that are supported by fun action/adventure gameplay with light rpg elements - without all the extra open world stuff.
Awesome vid! Keep up the great material 👍

I like to see it this way: The canon character's race is the race from where the game takes place. For instance, the Nerevarine is a dunmer, Champion of Cyrodiil is an imperial, Dovahkiin is a nord and so forth. So if we get a TES game that takes place in Elsweyr or Black March, the canon race would be a khajiit or an argonian respectively.
Wether the character is, or was, a male or female is harder to determine, but it is said in the Fallout 4 Vault Dweller's Survival Guide that it was unsure if the Lone Wanderer was a boy or a girl, so it might be the same case here with the TES games.

I would *_LOVE_* to have an "Adventures" game where you play through the Akaviri invasions launched by Uriel Septim V. That way we could _finally_ have a canon source appearance for Roscrea, Akavir, and maybe settle some of the more vague things about the events that took place, the Akaviri races, etc.

Perhaps while the main team at BGS is working on finishing up _Starfield_ and beginning work on TESVI, they can have a smaller team (or another campus altogether) work on this. Perhaps bring back some of the old guard to lead the design and writing, people who know the material like Ted Peterson and Michael Kirkbride. Or even better, seek out well respected writers from outside to bring in some fresh ideas to flesh out what little we already know (I have in mind Chris Avellone, or someone like him).

  • @jefthereaper
    @jefthereaper 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    My own theorys:
*Eternal Champion:* Dead, most likely in a Aetherical realm due to his heroic deeds having earned him a Afterlife instead of the Dreamsleeve. (dead by age most likely, or disease if elf)
*Uriel Septim's Agent:* Same as above, tough the Dragon Break event might have given a unexpected turn to his fate, if not "fates" considering other beings like Mannimarco also got duplicates of themselves due to the dragon-break to make every outcome a truth.
*Nerevarine:* Due to the corpus disease he/she should have become immortal (not unkillable), Possibly he left for the islands of Akaviir just before the Oblivion Crisis. His trip on the sea most likely having spanned over the entire cause of the Oblivion Crisis. Whatever he has been doing on Akaviir is not known, but my guess is he ether settled down after pretty much conquering it, or ended up getting trapped (not being able to die, being stuck there untill somebody frees him, perfect scripted event for a future game where our new hero discovers a immobilized Nerevarine)
Or perhaps the Nerevarine found out some type of prohpecy via the elder scrolls or some other information regarding great danger involving Akaviir, and he has been standing watch in that province to try and prevent it.
*Champion of Cyrodiil:* Took up the mantle of the Mad God Sheogorath, and over the past 200 years he has been getting more and more attuned to his job, wherever his madness is a act, or his transformation is a unfortunate side effect from his connection to everything that is madness, he is now for all intents and purposes the new Mad God Sheogorath.
Continuity should also not be that much of a problem, easy to fix, if a past hero should appear in the newer installment, simply the default story should be that this character did ALL quests available, but moral choices are "blurred" and lost to time.
if he hero should appear visually, the player should simply choose how he/she looks at the start of the game, much like your playable character's creation.

So I imagine the dragon born has died, and since he has pledged his soul to so many Daedric princes, they had a struggle over his soul, ripping it apart. The Daedra then took parts of it, corrupted it, and sent it back to Nirn to do their bidding, but this person (you) either joins them and goes on a quest to destroy everything the Divines represent and stand for, or reject the Daedric Princes and unites the squabbling leaders in whichever province it's in and also turn different daedric princes against each other, essentially causing an interdimensional war between the mortal and immortal, and the only thing to balance it out would be an elder scroll
That's my idea, hope you enjoyed reading. I personally think this would be cool, but I may be a little biased

That's kinda stupid, no offense. Bethesda wouldn't make it canon that the Dragonborn was champion of all daedric princes as it would make any aspect of roleplaying null and void. Not everyone's Dragonborn worked with the daedra.

In the case of the Nerevarine's identity and choices, MK's drawing found here- www.imperial-library.info/content/foul-murder tried to address that. Sotha Sil took his face, so he could be any race. Vivec thrusts Muatra through his chest so that he could be any gender, and Almalexia took his feet so that he could walk in all paths.

What I would like to see is a elder scrolls game done sort of like fallout 1 and 2 with kind of dungeons and dragons like aspects particularly the ability to create your own backstory, choose your starting location along with the situation your character is in, and I would like to see the group aspect of D&D allowing the player to effect the group around him and shape their skills and such

That's stupid! If your character is not the great dragonborn who kicks ass with his shouts and his axe and shield or battleaxe. If you are not what's on the box art, put up with your character being called "non-cannon." That's stupid!

No, thank you. If TES lore stopped being vague, we would end up with generic and/or shallow lore. These people who want this to happen do not think about the fact that the new well established and clear lore cannot be made good because of many factors. The desire to appeal to as much people as possible will bring us absolutely generic and outright stupid lore. At the moment, there is lore for old fans of TES and there is lore for people who cant read more than several sentences without getting bored.

I think an Adventure Game set in the great war or afterwards ( during the events of Skyrim or afterwards) would be an great game. Many people played skyrim (and none of the other games) and a sequel or an prequel about whats going on with the Thalmor would attract a lot of people because its kind of connected to the game they played. Other interesting settings would be the civil war in Redguard, but set in a newer era (maybe the cooperation of those factions to fight the Thalmor?) or another event during the Oblivion crisis, for example the oblivion crisis in the Summerset Isles (and thus the rise of the Thalmor) (Sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes , im not an native english speaker)

About the varous PCs of the last 3 games.
Most probably the sent the Nerevarine to Akavir for preventing future problems from future games.
If he's a Dunmer, probably is still alive at the time of Skyrim events.
For what i remember, the Thalmor hunted down the Blades just before the events of Skyrim. The Nerevarine is a member of the Blades.
I don't see the Thalmor taking down that guy.

what i want to know is how are they planning to explain some of the decisions the dragonborn makes? no amount of saying "this thing happened to the dragonborn after skyrim happened and that is why they are not here anymore" can explain away things like weather the dragonborn chose to cleanse azura's star or turn it into the black star, or maybe the fact that you are given the option to completely destroy the dark brotherhood (though one could possibly say that the skyrim dark brotherhood wasnt the "last" collection of brotherhood members). it would be really cool to see the etherium item you make in the lost to the ages quest show up as an ancient artifact, but they would have to specify which one was made. that last one is a bit of a nitpick because it is not mandatory for it to be referenced but i think my point is made

My Nerevarine was a Telvanni Argonian battlemage, so it was a pretty weird scenario to say the least. When I got to playing Skyrim, I decided that my character would be the same as my Nerevarine, and I carried her character into it as if I was her again. When I got to Soltheim and saw Neloth, it was weird since I knew him in Morrowind, and he talked to me like we had never met, but it didn't bother me since I know the game didn't expect this to happen. When Neloth said that the Nerevarine was some dude, I thought well, Neloth is a stuffy Dunmer, he wouldn't admit it if the Nerevarine (much less his new Arch-Magister) was an Argonian woman, or at least not a Dunmer. That did seem to be in character for him. For Oblivion, though, I found it impossible to imagine my Nerevarine coming there since she wouldn't have so recklessly abandoned her home, so i made a completely different character for it. The whole story of going to Akavir I theorized that my Nerevarine made up because her fame was getting out of control and she didn't want to be in the spotlight anymore. Sometimes the lack of continuity in these games can sometimes make the stories that my characters have get more interesting!

So, if we met the dragonborn or nerevarine in later games what bethesda could do is have their race, skills, and other such things including accomplishments be randomized just before meeting them so you could have one dragonborn who was the leader of the dark brotherhood and thieves guild with high skills in things relating to that. Heck you could even get that dragonborn who is just good at everything with max in every skill who did everything you could go in the game of skyrim though that would be extremely rare.

I'd love another TES Adventures game! I'd think that having a game set in the Summerset Isles, where you play as maybe a Dominion recruit and you could see how the Thalmor came to power, maybe even see the positive side of the Dominion, or at least get to understand why the Thalmor think the way they do. But maybe Summerset should be saved for a mainstream TES game, and have an Adventures game set in Black Marsh/Elsweyr. In an ideal world, a game set in Elsweyr would have the player be able to select his/her Khajiit furstock, Ohmes, Ohmes-Raht, Suthay, Suthay-Raht, Cathay, or Cathay-Raht, with the four-legged breeds being included as NPC's

  • @jaernihiltheus7817
    @jaernihiltheus7817 7 ปีที่แล้ว

I wouldn't mind an Adventures game set in either Valenwood or Elsweyr.
For Valenwood you could play as a Changeling, disguising yourself as a usual Tamrielic race (your choice), perhaps having to deal with Shagrath and his cult that Selene gathered in the 3rd era (this would take place either right before or right after Skyrim), with you taking them out before they do some magic mumbo jumbo that'd make everyone see Changelings for what they really are (going off of the assumption that the reason why Changelings are so rarely seen is that the ones that are still alive have taken on human/mer appearances and live amongst the citizens of Tamriel).
The reason why this Shagrath cult would be trying to do this would be because they saw Selene as the brave soul that stood up and shown herself to the world, and through the power of Shagrath (who in this game would explain how being Shagrath's preist/priestess is basically being his concubine) fought back against the tyranny of man, mer, and beast!
For Elsweyr, it'd probably surround a new mane rising up and becoming the new mane of Elsweyr. This new mane, weary of the Aldmeri Dominion and its' constant warring and subjugation, has secretly began arming some freedom fighters in County Leyawiin; But has been found out by the Thalmor, and has been thrown in an Aldmeri stronghold/prison near Torval for interrogation. Your job as the head of his royal guard, is to travel to ((PLACEHOLDER NAME)) on the eastern side of the Valenwood/Elsweyr border, and free your Mane -Before the king of Haven arrives for a personal "chat"!
Will you, a Khajiit, be able to sneak your way through the dungeons of ((PLACEHOLDER NAME))? Or will you be captured, and interrogated as well?
It should be noted that the Valenwood idea would give you the option to select any of the staple 10 Tamriellic races, as well as gender, and have a mechanic allowing you to shapeshift back and forth between them to get different responses and unlock new areas/quest details. Whereas the Elsweyr idea would have you only be able to select a Khajiit race, but give you multiple subraces to choose from.
I like them both, and not *just* because they're my ideas. ;)

Bethesda called always allow to import you skyrim save and your choices will slightly effect what people say and cameos from characters, eg. Ulfric or Elisif at a meeting. Nazir can be seen at the dark brotherhood, do the dawngaurd exist or are they just vigilants of stendar.

I made them all related (Targen) my ESO character is every main characters ancestor. The Neravarine (Almer) was born from a forbidden relationship between a dark elf and an imperial. Oblivion is the result of the nerevarines child (Maron) fleeing to cyrodil shortly after the events of Morrowind when azura warns him of morrowinds fate and tells him that he is a key to defend the imperial city when called. The dragonborn (Jagen) is from the imperial city of cyrodill as a low class soldier and goes to skyrim as a deserter after a close friend of his is betrayed by his superiors and killed for being falsely accused of conspiring to kill the emperor.

I think the warp in the west is a fine way to wrap part of that story up, for the remaining storyline they should just implement canon lore in terms of character and actions. Or assume that the canon hero did absolutely every quest available. The other thing they could do is if they were to show a previous hero in es6, they could let u build that hero through dialogue choices. Example, "what do you know about the dragonborn," "well he was a nord that fought for the empire of course", boom, and so on u create ur own skyrim hero in eldwr scrolls 6

  • @bluelover929

Another thing to add, I actually like the way Bethesda does their storytelling. I like that I can start from any game and not feel like I need to backtrack or read up on the other games. I love the series, so I do look into the lore, but the point is that I don't feel overwhelmed or behind (wow is one MMO that I feel overwhelmed in after not playing for a long time). They sheogorath thing in oblivion makes a lot of sense, while still allowing you to use your own character/race. another commenter brought up a brilliant point about knights of the old republic II and dialogue choices. Allow corrections through conversations or text to add your old character and make it canon. I heard the Dragonborn was a dark elf...she was unexpected. etc etc.

About a ES adventure game, yes YES and YEESS ! I want one, though the first idea that comes to mind that could remedy the Skyrim canon problem would be a game that sets the Dragonborne on the path of becoming the new Emperor and all that comes with it.
Or maybe a game that lets you play an officer during the only invasion of Akavir, and lets you go through all the trial and tribulations of that campaighn, showcasing the setting the lands and the people without needing to create a full open world for it, ending in a semy tragic conclusion of leaving you and many other stranded on the continent, maybe giving a good foundations for full open world set in Akavir down the line.

You make a really good point with the likely delay of TES 6 in the wake of ESO. I think an Elder Scrolls Adventure during the Great War would be pretty cool. Or maybe one set in Orsinium. I would think that could have potential. I would like to see that place but I doubt it will ever get the focus of a mainline game.

The Legend of Zelda games let you change your name from the default when you start, but canonically the hero’s name is still Link. Likewise, IMHO, the canonical hero of each TES game is the one the character creator starts with, but you’re allowed to change it to suit your preference.

The thing is that player choice doesn't really matter in TES because the games usually railroad your character into quests or decisions anyway. Especially when it comes to being an "evil" character. You don't want your heroic character to kill innocents or steal, but you miss the mass majority of the games content if you don't join the dark brotherhood, or thieves guild, or especially deal with the Daedra. the Elder Scrolls might as well be linear and have canon endings

An Elder Scrolls Adventures game based on the great war between the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion from the Dominions' point of view would actually be something I'd go for. The Altmer kind of need a bit of love after how much Skyrim tarnished them. :(
+ It would be a good opportunity for them to flesh out the Thalmor and the Dominion a bit more rather than keeping them as the cut and dry 'villains' they were in Skyrim, if we played the Great War through the lens of a Thalmor Agent and also events leading up to the White Gold Concordant.
