Hi! Back during this age and even now, she's pretty much just on par with expected development 🙂 She's had a similar type of set up with activities that coordinate with her interests and skills since birth, and when compared to peers and Montessori guidance, she's typically on track with everything. Like every kid, some things she has more of an interest in than others, but she's not exceptionally advanced. Still holds true now that she's in preschool when compared to her peers in her Montessori class. Every child is different in their interest there's a lot of potential we can unlock with the proper environment and the chance to try. Students in my class do a lot more than their parents ever give them credit for on our first meeting.

Thank you for these great ideas. I am excited to try some new games with my toddler. But I am wondering sometimes: my toddler doesn't want to try things on his own. He gives me items into my hand and points to where it should go, but doesn't want to do it on his own. I try to encourage him to do it on his own, like puzzle pieces or building a tower - I know he can do it, but he prefers me to do it instead. Why is he doing that? My guess is he gets easily frustrated when things are a bit challenging? Is that normal? 🤔
Great ideas! We just got a larger Russian doll for my son for Easter, he will enjoy taking it apart first before he can figure out how to nest them. Wow, you’re daughter can identify two ducks! Impressive. My sons language is definitely behind where my daughters way at this age, I’m hoping it blossoms soon.
Thank you! Our nesting dolls have been around since Stella was born, so she's had a lot of exposure to them-they're supposed to be decor, but she has continuously come to them ever since she could crawl! She's been very into figuring out nesting for several months now, but it was just in this past period that she's transferred that skill to the dolls as well!
Two, Second, and Three are her favorite words to work with right now! She's very happy that she can now tell us she's looking for her second glove or a second pine cone to play with! My language skills were far behind hers as well, so it's been very fun to see her grow so much in speech with both languages recently.

Hm a few questions - how old is he? If he works with an activity before tossing it aside, does he actually get something complete (puts the puzzle piece into its slot) or tries but can't get it? And what does he do instead? Where does he go and what does he do instead of the activities?

Lots of great ideas here. My son loves certain activities, but he can get very rough. I tell him what the activity is for, and if he does it again I take away the activity. Any other tips? Stella seems so graceful using all of her materials.
Also, at what point should I step in and correct incorrect matching? My son works with the matching activities calmly but it’s wrong at times. How do I correct without inadvertently lowering his self esteem? Thank you as always! :)
Thank you! Stella's grace with the activities sometimes shocks me as well, though it's not always like that. Her barn with latches gets some tough love too. I do a lot of exaggerated modeling in these cases. She doesn't care to see a presentation of the material most days still, so I'll usually just take it and start working with an activity on my own, next to her, but do everything 20x slower and more gently. So instead of just putting the knobbed cylinder in, I move at a snail's pace, and super slowly and carefully slide it into its slot. Sometimes I even go "shhhh" to show that I'm trying to be quiet and gentle. We do this with plates too so she's not slamming them, and I've found her starting to run with one, stop, walk, and then slowly place it on the table with "shhhh". And like always, if that impulse is still there, I'll redirect. If we're throwing, I take the material while saying "this is not a ball, here is your basket of balls to throw. When you're ready to build, we can work with blocks again".
What types of matching is he working on/has mastered/sometimes gets wrong?
I started with matching animals to the exact card and thought maybe it was too advanced. He’s now working on object to object matching. He will do it right one day and thEn not the next. Could it be that I should just put it away for awhile and come back to it?

Hello! Apologies for the late reply. If you're still working on color recognition, I recommend starting with just the 3 primary colors (red, blue, yellow) and just showing her items or color swatches in those colors while naming them. Then, ask her to "point to yellow" or "Give me red". Then start with simple color matching like 2 yellow paint swatches or 2 yellow apples and 2 red apples. We had an activity with 3 colored dowels and colored rings that my daughter loved. Of she put a blue ring on a red dowel, she could see the difference. When she started to self correct, I knew she grasped what colors are! Color matching and other matching activities are a little different. I had been looking for something that could be be informative as well as playful for my 21 month old son. Definitely for Something toddler developmental activities because I see no sense in buying toys (which they play couple times and discard). I got it what I was looking for and I am thankful to you 🙏

These aren't milestones or benchmarks. They're ideas that could work at this age but every child develops at their own pace and would need to build up skills first 😌

Do you allow your Children to watch fun things like VeggieTales or Nursery Dancing to Laugh do you only concentrate on Educational activities? I’m asking because of Close Friends and Family Questions
On TV? We didn't do any TV at that age. Now she is over 3 and watches anything she likes that's age appropriate, together with us, a few times a week. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Pokémon, Moana, etc

Ive never been a slow talker so I make sure each activity can be seen in the video to get as much in as little time as possible. But no worries, I know this speed isn't for everyone 🙂

Hello! That is the tumble down counting pegs by TAG Toys (www.tagtoys.com/product/tumble-down-counting-pegs/) They're not on Amazon and I've hesitated to share it because of the price. It's a phenomenal material that, personally, I do find to be worth the investment, but it's definitely pricy. I have been continuously checking to see if anyone sells something similar, but they seem to be the only ones with that exact item. If you can find it for resale somewhere, I would very much recommend it!

I'm about to start a nannying job and found your video looking for activities for a 20 month old. Would these activities still be appropriate for a child who hasn't been learning Montessori style or would it be too advanced?
Every child is SO different! Even little ones who have been learning with the Montessori method up until now will vary in whether these are too simple or too hard. I'd try some and see where their skills and interests are. Are they interested in matching but not yet capable of matching silhouettes and halves of paintings? Step back to picture to picture matching. Are they interested in pouring water but not into 2 glasses? Step back to just pouring between 2 small glasses or even using dry pouring! You can see what we worked on before in the previous activity videos as a way to build up these skills 🥰 I have the 18 simple activities video tagged in the description box as well, and those would work too.
