I love this video! I feel like your "version" of Montessori is more realistic. A lot of the blogs I see have very plain and simple toys. I can't believe she is already 18 months!
It looks plain and simple. But that’s because the focus is on the skills used. Montessori usually don’t use flashy obvious toys. The toys are aimed at extending cognitive understanding
Where i live, parents tend to give their children a lot of toys to the extend that kids stop appreciating them and cannot enjoy playing with them. It is quite refreshing to see videos and parenting like yours. 🙂
Love these! Would love to see more of your Montessori at home videos. Harriet is adorable. I have a 1 1/2 year old and I’m very interested in implementing some of the Montessori philosophies in our home
I've followed your channel for a while and while I'm not married or with children, I love to be educated on it all. So adorable watching her get the water omg 😭
Love what you are doing. I have my daughter's little kitchen in my kitchen and I love it. She cooks while I cook. We have the same broom set. I have put away the duster and mop, because she always seemed to find the mess I just spilled before I could get to it; so just the brush, broom and dust pan hang on ours right now. I also keep it in the kitchen, because I can ask her to sweep while I'm cooking as well. All handy for occupying her time while I'm busy cooking at the stove. She feels so helpful and grown up being able to help momma. For dishes, I found a few Corelle plates and bowls in a fun pattern at the thrift store that I have been using for her this past year (she is 2 1/2 now). They work really well and were super cheap at the thrift store.
Most of these setups are how ALL toddlers should be raised! I remember as a 3 y/o having the fake kitchen and household toys which made me super aware of how things work long before entering pre school and being aware of what my parents do around the house. Plus the toys are definitely good for learning. I still remember my first jigsaw puzzles and baby dolls. Talking to kids like adults is definitely important. I grew up around adults my primary years (I'm the oldest grandchild on both sides) so it made a huge difference in my vocabulary and speech. Plus i always had the desire to be independent. You're doing a great job. I try to send productive items and toys to my out of state nephew every six months (he's 28 months now) so i hope my half sister utilizes them with him. 😊
As an educator I really enjoy the Montessori method. The book is awesome! I used it to help my sister set up her home for Montessori. Thanks for sharing.
Ahhh, I love your setup for her, sooo cute! Especially her little kitchen! Can't wait to see what her bedroom looks like! You are totally rocking this Montessori thing, mama!
Harriet is one lucky little girl, having you for her Mama. I’m 64 and never had children but this has been such an enjoyable video. And seeing Harriet grow up and learn new things is such a pleasure. You and your husband are such good parents. ❤️
This is so awesome, I love how committed you are to making sure your baby develops the skills she needs and you're educating yourself!! this is great love it
I like that your Mntessori style is integrated within the whole family life and your daughter is part of it rather than having everything hers separated (kitchen, toilet, etc) as if you have a home within the home. When did she start sitting on her chair?
And I turned some of my other toys into these kinds of activities. We have shopkins, for example, for the older kids. The little ones love nothing more than stacking the shopkins inside old popsicle maker parts (into the part that would hold the liquid for freezing). I’ve donated the other parts of the popsicle maker but kept a few holders for this purpose, and the keep going back to it. Also they love to put anything into little handbags so we have a box of toy handbags we’ve collected over the 12 yrs I’ve had kids, and we make use of everything in those ways. My husband is always asking me why I’m keeping egg cartons etc and I do so they can out shopkins in the segments also! Never ending joy.
Strawberry Life so true that you don’t need anything fancy for toys! Harriet loves playing in my purse or wallet and playing with just your everyday objects too!
So yep, this was amazing 🙌🏽 Just moved and so excited to set up my boys official official classroom 🤓.... and can we appreciate how she just casually showed us her amazingly decor styled home 😏 You did that Mama ♥️
I just stumbled onto your account and this video. To be honest my 18 month old daughter has been crying and only wanting me for the last 2 hours. I just needed to zone out on you tube videos. I am really happy I found your video. I just finished reading that Montessori book you mentioned. I got some really great ideas from your video. Thank you!
Thank you for filming this. My daughter just turned 18 months, and I find that I have a very similar set up than yours. However, I've dropped the ball a bit, and I'm hoping to introduce her to more activities and practical life stuff. Watching your video is inspiring to me and helping me get going again.
Very interested in this type of videos! I love the montessori philosophy too but everything I find online is very overwhelming. I find your video to be really helpful!
María del Mar de Bonis that book I mentioned does a great job of breaking down what your child can do at different ages which I found very helpful verses trying to find resources online!
I’m glad that it’s not too late for me to start. So many of these videos show moms who somehow have it all figured out but the time their baby is born.
I don’t have tho exact same set up but I do have the toys separated so she can pick one and play instead of having a basket full of toys it just makes more sense for a little kid
Beautiful home. I don’t have my own children yet. But I am always looking for ideas for my nephews (10 months old) and for my sister’s daycare setup. These are great ideas. I don’t think we can make it fully Montessori, but I love the principles and the style of making things accessible and orienting around learning and life skills.
love love love your video! I've been so lost about how to see it practically in my own home and your video takes us through so smoothly, I now can see what practical changes I can make and how to start incorporating Montessori in our home, thank you!!!
Thank you for all these Montessori videos! I really appreciate them. I’m not a mama yet (in 6years LOL) but my husband and I are looking into Montessori / Waldorf and trying to figure out what we’d like to do, so this is very helpful!
I love this video!!! Your setup is so inspiring. I would love to see more Montessori videos and especially a day in the life of lovely Harriet! I can't wait to see her room. I'm sure it's as beautiful as her playroom and the rest of your beautiful home 😍 Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks for such a pleasant informative Montessori video. The learning tower looks very interesting! I appreciate your calm voice and presentation style. ; )
I feel like a fruit bowl at her level would be a good idea maybe some raisins orange slices and bananas in a little cupboard she can help herself too your set up is so cute I've just got my kids to go through there room and get rid of lots of plastic stuff and ordered some wooden toys and games :)
Oooh that coin slotting activity with thr user of real coins and real coin box is amazing. Just need to find some lighter eqipment but this sends such a good idea using real life versions of the activities. Cool video in general. Thank you.
Also the water dispenser at the sink is a smart idea too just thinking how to build the understanding that it isn't for play like washing her cooking things or wet play. Maybe when she needs water for her waterpainting? Im instantly always thinking if the things that could go wrong with EVYRTHING i imagine seting up in my own house as soon as she can walk.
Thanks for sharing! Awesome video. Read the Montessori Toddler book as well, you are doing a beautiful job applying Montessori at home. Looking forward to seeing your other Montessori videos! x
I was listening to that book on the Libby app and I didn't get much from it. Now, I realize that there were a lot of models/pictures that would have been useful so I recommend folks get a book-book, not an audio book FYI in case anyone was considering it!
Great video! I'm due with my first baby in February! I'm so glad I discovered Montessori so I can educate myself on it as much as possible before little babe gets here, even though I won't be using some specific techniques for quite some time haha! Thank you for sharing what you know and love, can't wait to see more! The Hapa family is one of my favourites as well! ☺️
I love this video so much 🤗. I'm expecting first little one and I'm a Montessori teacher so this is so exciting to see. As far as the dishes go, its actually better for them to use breakable dishes so they learn care for the environment and caution, she will break one or two but that's the process 🤗😁
I love this so much!! So helpful to see. Would love to see a day in the life of what Harriet does, what activities she does. Also looking forward to seeing her Montessori room 😍
I literally just ordered the book bc it looks so helpful and although my toddler is 2 she is still learning and I’m always thinking of better, minimalistic ways for her to thrive. I also just subscribed bc I think a lot of your videos are in the realm of what I like to watch and learn from so thanks! And yes more like this video!
We love Montessori at home! I’ll have to admit the coins being a choking hazard for toddlers make me a little anxious. I would love to know more of what you feed her - I always love new ideas. 😊
Ahhh I love all of this, a great vibe, so pretty and inspiring. Can I ask where the wooden trays (for the toys) and the shelf (above the kitchen) are from please?
The BEST part of this video....”how old is she? She’s like a year and a half..” lol I’m right there with you momma!
second best was the little mixed baby doll that she has
😂😂😂
Love this. Thanks for sharing. Kids are more capable than people give them credit for.

So many good ideas! I’m thinking of making a little self care station in my daughter’s room with a mirror, her brush and comb, her water cup, etc.
21earlthepearl love that idea!
