      Wage growth is a bit hard to compare it seems because the value sources seem to be different. When I use that page to compare the Wage growth graph for UK and EU the EU seems to be higher since around midway 2017. I am not 100% sure of the comparability between those (different frequency so higher fluctuations for UK (=monthly instead of quarterly)) but _at least_ your assertion "since 2016 whilst the EU's has been stagnant or in decline" seems a bit strange after looking at those numbers. Care to elaborate?

No one even knows who the fuck most of them are yet they have superior power over the English people. A vote to stay in the EU is a vote to demolish democracy and british sovereignty. This is fundamentally what it comes down to, respecting the democratic process whether you like it or not.

      "Oh well he lives in the US he has no right to an opinion"
      "This is a democratic process, he should respect it and keep his opinion to himself because the democratic process is not about expressing your opinion!"

    What I hate most is that we are currently living in the most well of times in the history of man kind. Our health care is astounding, half the girls born on this planet today have a remarkable chance of being 100 years old or older. We're rich in culture; food, art, music, film. We get to retire (thanks to EU) in different countries around this continent. YET, people amazingly find a way to bitch and whine about a "bureaucratic organisation" THAT GOT US HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
    Here's a basic economic lesson: economic growth around the world can all be traced back to one thing; specialization and globalization. Countries, Cities and Companies specialize in different fields, become more efficient in that task and export it. Now, less trade, less globalization would hammer this. Obviously. Does Brexit leavers really think UK will stand on it's own? I hope not. But they'll still have to abide to all the rules. Complete utter stupidity.

The only reason things dragged out as long as it did was because we had a Parliament with a majority of Remainers who were split between telling the people to go f**k themselves, or doing the most bare minimum Brexit possible so that fundamentally, nothing changed. This was only rectified in December 2019 when many of those MP’s either retired or lost their seats. Good riddance.

      We're not united in common goals though. That's one of the issues. We are regularly out voted by other EU countries because many of our goals differ from the rest of the EU.
      And people advocating for Brexit don't want the UK to stop cooperating with Europe. We just want to do it as independent nations the same way every other country on Earth does it. Plus we'd like to see more cooperation with commonwealth countries like India, Canada and Australia which we can't do while part of the EU.

Why do European countries? I genuinely don't understand this argument, wouldn't the USA jump at creating a political union with North America and the EU if this was the case?

    • @ryangrohe5478
      @ryangrohe5478 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Lee Now forgive me, my knowledge of the EU is a little bit lacking, but would the reason possibly be the high density of nations in Europe? There are so many nations in that area (there's a reason the wars that happened there are called world wars) that working together seems good. TBH I think the UK should stay but my opinion matters not. What are these oppressive policies people keep talking about as well. People keep saying that the EU is oppressing them yet I don't see much of that at all. The all other countries thing I thought was in reference to Europe, which is why I said most countries were in the EU

    this way.
    Imagine that Texas decided that it was fed up with America's corrupt
    political system, and decided to succeed from the nation to become its
    own country.
    So, that would cause a few things.
    1: It would open the door for other states to succeed, which in turn
    could cause a massive domino effect and effectively spit or end the USA
    itself.
    2: All people of other states who reside in Texas but either have homes
    or families outside of Texas would now be subject to potential forced
    removal or discrimination etc because they are now basically foreigners
    living in a different country.
    3: Texas might have to create its own governing system that would have
    to be pretty close to perfect within just a few months of leaving,
    because it most likely would want to have nothing to do with the USA's
    corrupt one.
    4: Texas would now have to cross borders just to trade with the USA,
    which causes massive issues with tariffs and such, and since it doesn't
    have a vast luxury of natural resources, it'll kinda have to trade in
    the world market, which also has more costs than benefits if it just
    stayed in the USA.
    Every single one of the above problems applies to Britain and the EU.
    I rest my case.

      Canada has never been part of the United States... They technically used to be the same "country" and governed by the UK, but in fact, the US was the first one to leave this union and form its own government. This didn't describe Canada at all. If Canada was part of this analogy with Britain leaving the EU, Canada would be Asia (just a random neighbour and not in any way related to the EU)

    Peace. That's the REAL point of the EU. Not money, although it has evolved in some regrettable directions since the Lisbon treaty, but leaving is not the answer. As long as two countries trade with each other, they don't send missiles over each other's heads. While the UK leaving the EU will not declare a war, the EU is the reason we've had that peace for over 80 years now, the longest peace in European history. To leave is to deny that fact. To stay is saying "I want more peace, for the centuries to come."

      I'm not especially for BREXIT but your argument is not valid sir.
      Since the industrial revolution and the birth of capitalism, the world kept interconnecting its economies. During this time the wars were the deadliest.
      And before the 2 world wars, the world has known a big increase in trading.

      I am not a Brexit supporter (anyway I can't vote) but peace is achieved with open frontiers no matter what, even in tough times. You don't need to be in a political union with another country in order to prevent war, open frontiers for capital and human mobility is just enough. Of course the Brexit could be a first and dangerous step to a much less open country.

      @DomShaw7 8 ปีที่แล้ว +158

      That's because the leave arguments are usually falsified and embellished statistics (like the figure that he mentioned) and the argument of "these bloody immigrants are taking our jobs" an argument that is mostly given by people who are too lazy to even attempt getting a job and would rather take advantage of the benifits system while the european immigrants are here actually doing work.

    • @JoeyXII
      @JoeyXII 8 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      DomShaw7 The video he showed of Boris Johnson said, "We don't have control of £350 million a week", that is 100% accurate, the money we get back if controlled by the EU, and even after that we have a £10bn net contribution.
      Embellished statistics? This is what I mean by not covering both arguments. The Remain camp has been labelled 'Project Fear' for the inaccurate statistical forecasts non stop. And who from the remain camp is saying, 'these bloody immigrants'. Are people so illiterate to not understand the difference between not wanting an open border with no controls and being anti-immigrant. He labelled UKIP an anti-immigrant party - so a party whose leader (Farage) is from a family of French immigrants, is married to an immigrant, was the first national politician in the UK to say we should accept Syrian refugees before the migrant crisis and wants controlled immigration similar to Australia, is anti-immigrant? Yeah, as I said, do your research.

    • @DomShaw7
      @DomShaw7 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Labeled project fear by whom? Boris Johnson? Nigel Farage? A substantial amount of leave supporters? All of whom would benefit from portraying the remain campaign to be project fear! As for Farage being of immigrant descent etc. etc. I'll give you a good example as to why this Fallacy that him being connected to immigrants meaning he is pro immigrant doesn't confirm anything. Adolf Hitler, being a short, brown haired, brown eyed man had the desire to kill people who were not of the Aryan Race (Blue eyes, Blonde hair, tall) This makes little sense under that fallacy however believe it or not he was a real man with those very real ideals. As for the argument for him being anti immigration you've seen the poster for the leave campaign, you've seen the constant television coverage and interviews in which he says we need to cut immigration, is that not enough evidence? Probably not since you will believe what you want to believe. Garage is the second coming of christ, he wants what's best for the little man, He's the people's politician, I've heard he can balance a pint on his head, what a lad, what a fascist lad.

    • @JoeyXII
      @JoeyXII 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      DomShaw7 I listed several other reasons why. & Yes he wants to cut the immigration numbers, when you have 333k net people coming into the country it tends to stress public services when a country is as small as ours. Are you so deluded to think that wanting to cut immigration to acceptable numbers allowing public services to be planned for automatically means you're anti-immigrant? Of course, typical lefty throwing out the fascist line, wanting controlled immigration is a legitimate concern, and the majority of the British public want immigration controls.

    I live in England, but I'm from Ireland, & we had a similar situation when we had a referendum on the EU Lisbon Treaty. No one was informed about its contents, even our prime minister hadn't read it, but he was backing it. The EU threatened that if we didn't vote yes, it would be bad for the country.
    After printing it out & reading all 400 pages of it, my family & I found really disturbing clauses, such as EU law would trump all countries' constitutions, anybody in certain "attire" associated with "terrorism" could be detained without cause, & other really unsettling things.
    These weren't made known to the public, but because they didn't know what it contained, they voted no. The very next day, our economy which had been miraculously staying afloat in the recession collapsed. The IMF came in & started dictating what laws our government could make, our prime minister even publicly admitted this. We were told it was our fault, & they scared us into voting yes.
    The EU isn't nice.

    • @kirstydepaor547
      @kirstydepaor547 8 ปีที่แล้ว +46

      Having said that, our government is a completely corrupt, incompetent band of buffoons too. You have the same problem in England now. The EU is domineering and sinister, but so are their own politicians. It's basically picking your poison. I have no opinion on England leaving or staying, it's not my country, and I'll still be an EU member regardless, but I don't trust the EU, they are a shady bunch, and are in bed with all the politicians in England. Everyone knows former prime ministers and MPs get cushy jobs on the EU parliament after they retire, it's in their interest to stay. I don't trust the English MPs either, everyone has their own agenda, there's nobody there who isn't looking out for their own interests. At the end of the day, all you can do is go with your conscience, but I don't appreciate John preaching that the EU is brilliant, albeit annoying. They're shady af, just like his own government.

      @ConstantinChirila 8 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Well let me explain those laws to you. Eu law trump all countries law, because if let's say uk wents back to hang thieves, the EU would protect their asses. I am from Romania, and EU is a god send for a corupt goverment which would change and use the constitution that's supposed to protect the citizen, to jail the ones that step on the wrong toes. THings changed a lot in romania since it joined EU, but still those laws is TO PROTECT citizens of EU without giving a fuck about what countries says, and I as a citizen can't but just applaud to that considering EU enforces for the human rights to be respected across countries. And the terrorist law, is so if an irish guy bombs your house and flees in Spain, he will be extradited immediatly to ireland regarding of the extradition laws of spain. If you really enjoy reading 400 pages of laws, try reading all the laws of your own country, and i bet youll find more than two fucked up laws, that totally fuck up the citizen in all kinds of wrongfull ways. Maybe getting some law courses would help you understand how the laws work, and there are other laws that trump the nasty parts of some laws and so on. The EU isn't nice to greedy and corrupt countries and corporations, and it has always been trying to be here to protect people while maintaining some sort of economic balance. EU was born becuase no one wanted for EU to break itself into pieces once again, look at the WW1 and WW2... so many countries that used to hate eachother now work together because of EU, people always forget this.

      +Constantin Chirila buna Constantin! I've been to Romania many times, I really love your country! I can understand why you appreciate what the EU has done for you, but there's still a point being missed here. The EU never had power over a country's constitution until 2008 when they made the Lisbon Treaty. To take away a country's right to make its own laws is essentially saying you own that country. The EU was never advertised as a super government, it was meant to be a trade union, nothing to do with law. To tell a country it cannot stick to its own laws anymore is wrong. If they introduce an EU you don't agree with, and it's against your own, you don't have a choice. That's a dangerous prospect. Ireland's first president refused to let Ireland join the EU, saying what he saw when he went there was that they were trying to set up their own little empire, and Ireland had only just escaped the British Empire, he wasn't going to hand is over to another one.

    • @ConstantinChirila
      @ConstantinChirila 8 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      But that's the thing, you immediatly think that EU it's up to no good just because it has that power. By example if you become impaired and your husband becomes responsible for you and taking all the decisions about your life, does that mean he is automatically going to use that power to ruin you and your life? That's what you more or less saying. On another note, all the laws in eu and i mean ALL of them, are voted inside a parlament comprised of politicians for all the countries, and the number of votes depends on a countries involvement and contribution. I do want to see a law that negatively impacted Ireland for example. Most of EU laws has to do with protection of human rights, also there are regulations for products made (like what materials/chemicals to be used).., enviromental laws, and regulations for corporations... please tell me an EU law that ruined your country, so your country not a small itsybit of population that liked to to htings the old way and the new way is inconvennient (the example is the spain tradition of killing bulls on the street, which was slowly suppressed by EU because of animal cruelty; it wasnt a really negative impact on peoples well being, was jsut an invonvenient cause they liked the old way)...
