That's a real nice looking and sounding R9T. I did look at the R9T very closely but chose the s1000r instead (The BMWs1000r is bloody insane!). I found the R9T was _way underpowered_ out of the blocks and I'd need to spend more $$ on making it better. The exhaust is loud I have to say.

The 1200 is one bike we have in common ive heard there is a brake pad issue with the tiger and some of the other triumph to year models internal combustion engine is supposed to be heard other wise you might as well go electric oh boy oh boy

That is such a sweet bike, don’t sell it! I have a feeling you might not like how “dated” the HP2 will feel compared to the racer.😕

Sounds good...HP2 vs Racer...interesting problem...I’ve had a few “valuable” vehicles and personally I’ve found more joy riding (or driving) something that delivered the goods without any extra status. I guess one thing to ask is “would you love the HP2 as much if it wasn’t rare?”...I’ll be interested to see how you feel riding them back to back as just a pure bike comparison.

Part of my personal limitation of enjoyment with rare vehicles was the extra consciousness about their value and limited feeling of customizing. I felt more like a caretaker than a freehanded owner sometimes. For me it was a little harder to relax with and felt like a bit of a responsibility. My problem of course, not everyone’s. It’s also nice to have a dream bike...
If I found (and could afford) a real GT40 in Gulf livery I’d not be able to resist...maybe the HP2 is IT for you.
Regarding the Racer bars...as you said, on the right road it’s perfect. I’ve been resistant to give that up for more general use comfort bars. It just always seems worth the comfort limits when you finally get to the right spot. At least so far....I will say I’ve had my Racer for 3 years and it hasn’t lost any of its original luster for me. Everything great about it is timeless and doesn’t rely on new developments or innovation so it never gets eclipsed by “the new thing”. It just keeps delivering the basic simple satisfaction every day.
Whichever you choose, HP2 or Racer, I hope it’s a nice long relationship.
