Amen! I have always said the only church I go to is when U2 is within 1500 miles. Yes, I've driven it, 3 concerts so far, and totally worth it. It's like a cleansing of the Soul, a laying down of burdens, and a small near death experience - all in one night. I do more praying at a U2 concert, than at any other time in my life. It's the only place I have ever truly felt the brotherhood of man. I've never met Paul Hewson, but I've been in love with Bono since I was 12 years old....
One of Grahams brilliant talents and one reason the show is so successful is that he does not 'cow down to' Bono or any of his guests. He makes fun of them but always in a lighthearted way. Graham is a master at reading and reacting to his guests and giving them alcohol doesn't hurt either.
@@stayfrostypatrick you're not dumb - no worries, lots of people confuse British and Irish. But there is a distinct difference. Having said that if you were to ask many Brits what are the countries or provinces under 'great britain' they would have no clue, nor would they have any clue about the colonization of the Brits - its called selective 'lets not teach about our shitty history'. Sad but true.
I knew when I first heard and saw this band, I said that they would be one of the, if not the biggest band around. I now there are people who don't care for them, but to me, they are the best.
I did a music appreciation class in high school. The teacher played their first album when it wasn’t a huge hit yet. We were all mesmerized. Loved them ever since. Saw them only once in concert. I think it was 87’ will have to check that. CNE bandstand Toronto, Canada.
Everyone I talk to about The Graham Norton Show, everyone has a positive word of this show. And now we're being doubly spoilt with the Irish Band U2 Appearance . ❤
My favorite part of this clip is watching Robert Duvall having no clue what they’re talking about with iTunes and the release of the record for free automatically on people’s phones. He had no idea what the fk they were talking about😂
The biggest bands are those you could put into a high school storage room and they'd turn it into the gate to heaven! 🎸💫 There are all sorts of good musical groups, but only a few bands have had that unique quality... Queen, Guns'n'Roses, Led Zeplin, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, U2
Great song and aren't the first three songs on the Joshua Tree the greatest ever ... and I'm a huge Bruce Springsteen fan: 'Where The Streets Have No Name' (my favourite ever), 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' and 'With Or Without You'. INCREDIBLE!
@@kingy002 ...Yes. It would be hard to conceive of him as their biggest fan. Most likely a generational mis-match. In any case, too many people clustered together on the sofa at the same time. You can´t interview 7 people simultaneously and hope to give equal time to everyone. This is the problem of the multiple-interview approach which we see on his show. Should have allowed the first 3 guests to leave first, before bringing on U2. Would have worked better.
My favourite band, I went with my sister on 6th September 97, I was 18, Princess Diana's funeral day, Manchester airport held 1 min silence, U2 kicked ass, at park de prance, Diana was in there, pop mart tour, great thing they did for her death , they are amazing band, and god bless diana
My first concert was U2, with my brother, his friends & my bestie. My favorite photo ever with my brother was at this show- amazing night: circa 1996-1998 ish. Had a lot of 💨 that night, lol. Memory of date is fuzzy 😂
i‘ve never felt that sounding always the same is some sign of quality. but it‘s just my opinion and that of some others. they‘ve got some tunes that i like very much though.
I didn't understand what was going on when I saw and heard him sing in Rattle and Hum. I love how his voice matches with Bono's. You almost can't tell them apart.
This is one of my favorite interviews because I grew up listening to U2. Although Has Graham Norton did an interview with Def Leppard. U2 is one of my most top favorite bands and so is def leopard. Which Interview would be greater?
That would epic if he did do an interview with them or even had them on the show performing too. Either way I'd be happy to see Def Leppard on his show. ❤️

I'm also from Dublin, but was never a huge U2 fan, i always preferred the Pogues or the Ramones in terms of just interesting bands, mischief...I like, I will follow, Seconds, New years day, Gloria, Pride, amazing songs. He really sings from his heart Bono, make fun of him all you like, he takes it on the chin, but he can sing, and he writes some great songs.
It is due to ageism and jealously. You saw the ageist comment just above that I reported. I don't tolerate ageism anymore than I tolerate racism or homophobia
The single greatest marketing disaster of of all time. They gave the album away for free but the people didn't want it. And after seeing that insipid pile driver of mediocrity; who can blame them?
Glaucoma really let’s be honest with ourselves Bono. I have terrible eye sight the worst in my family. Without my glasses for a week I go almost completely blind nothing but a big white Blair. After a week without my glasses I feel like sh*t despite having extremely blurry vision. My eyes are worse than yours. But I’m proud of my eye sight no matter how bad it is.
Total ageist nonsense. The lyrics are much better than anything on their 80s albums plus this album was better than their first 3 albums. The album is in my top 4 favourite album of theirs. As people age their songwriting gets better. Everyone accepts ageism but not racism or misogyny when it's just as bad.
as a huge long time u2 fan, i must say their music today is so lame it hurts. it's funny when you realize 3/4 of the existence of your favorite band is musically irrelevant. "at least", albums wise, the ratio is better cause they only release two albums a decade or so. i've stopped paying attention to the actual dates.
I really love all albums up to Songs of Experience. For some reason I just can't listen to that album, I do hope their new album would sound better than SOE did.
@@stayfrostypatrickI personally really like Songs of Experience. I understand it’s not maybe as unique as some of their other stuff, but the music changes with the band. Something like Love is Bigger Than Anything In Its Way might not have that typical U2 vibe that we love so dearly, but if you look at the lyrics, you can see how much really goes into a song like that.
