    The Quick Release on the strap is an emergency release in case of entanglement so you don't strangle yourself. That's why it is red colored. It should be able to release even with tension on the strap.

    Great video. Thank you. I agree, would have been better if the two ends attached to each other for shorter use as the thing is fairly heavy.

    NEED to add the "bar and chain" oil prior to use and every 20 mins of use (sold separately)

    You will need to sharpen the teeth on that saw from time to time and I'm thinking tighten the chain too because they do tend to stretch a bit after a certain amount of use. Just part of maintenance.

    Mine came new with a loose chain cover screw. It might be of interest to read in the manual how they recommend to cut branches.

    I got one of these for some lower dead branch removal and I love it but how the hey do you disassemble it?

    Good video. I just got one of these, and while the battery was on the charger, I picked up the the whole 9.5' unit just to get a feel for it. Holy smokes, it was so unwieldy! But I think that is because I didn't have the battery plugged into it to help balance it. You seemed to use it with no problems. Looking forward to using it to trim some trees.

    perhaps you could design and 3D print a short adapter. Looks kinda simple. and adding electrical terminal connections shouldn't be very difficult.

    How does that red plastic quick release gizmo work? It just slides up and down the strap.

    Why is it more desirable to have variable speed control? (My gas chainsaw manual says always to leave and enter cuts at full speed...maybe to save on battery charge [but then the sawchain gets duller faster no?])

    Weird to me that is is 40v. Here in Australia this range is sold as 36v though pretty sure it is the same.

    Did anyone have any issues of the extensions not coming apart? It’s so stuck and visually I can’t see a way to release it. Even the help chatline didn’t know how to separate them. 😢

    What do you use Allen for it never showed that part

    • @jasonlarsen4945
      @jasonlarsen4945 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The chain tensioner.

    • @barts5952
      @barts5952 ปีที่แล้ว

      One end of the Allen is a flat screwdriver to adjust the tensioner and the other end is to remove the chain cover screw, or loosen it. Mine came new with a loose chain cover screw. You only need to loosen the screw to adjust the tensioner. Removing the whole screw completely is for changing the chain.

    I'm on saw #3 This saw is the biggest piece of $HIT Ryobi has ever produced!! The only reason I'm on #3 is #1) NO battery or charger in first box even though I bought the combo "WITH" battery. I immediately returned for #2) This one the parts would not fit (poles wouldn't mesh togethet). Immediately returned. #3) Assembled saw everything went together... pulled starting trigger switch NOTHING. Checked all connections still NOTHING. Put my power meet from battery connection all the way to 2nd pole contacts and had full 40v. I assume the motor must be bad from factory as their us no was to disassemble that without damaging case rivets!! DONT buy this piece of CRAP!! I Only purchased because I have several other 40v Ryobi products that share this $100 dollar rechargeable batteries!! 😡
