@@jacksonpercy8044there's a challenge mode that's designed to be treated as a kind of post game content. There's 4 challenge mode levels, 1 for each tank in the game.
The goal is the same for each level, buying all 3 egg shards as fast as possible. The challenge however is that the game sets the prices to hyperinflation so the price of everything goes up from basic guppies to Ultravores and gun upgrades the longer you take. So you have to balance the gameplay of farming money, buying more fish and the inflating prices.
This is coupled with more monster spawns where you deal with more and more monsters per round, I think it doubles every so often so you start with 1 or 2 then it can go up to like 8 at a time.
Where Walter comes in is his fist not only knocks coins out of guppies or other fish but if you punch a pet, it can trigger their effects, primarily with the electric eel. The meta for completing these challenge runs is to buy a bunch of guppies when you have enough funds, punch tf outta the eel to activate the electricity and then collect all the diamonds so fast before prices climb.
This can also be done for NG+ speedruns where you can use any set of 4 pets.
@jacksonpercy8044 time trial, bonus adventure and challenge mode speedruns all use him since there the shell amount doesnt matter

Actually, you can control where he goes to a certain extent. He follows the food if it's placed close enough to him. This is where the food quantity upgrade comes in really handy: spam food, direct Gus.
6:46 Gus will prefer eating fish food over fish so you can lead him by placing the food near him opposite of where the fish are. Basically, while most aliens are repelled by the mouse, Gus is attracted to it.

This predecessor to plants vs zombies actually appears as a minigame in PVZ. The minigame “Zombiquarium” is actually based off of this game. Also, you can buy Stinky the snail to pick up coins for you, like in Insaniquarium.

That "tutorial half-way throughout the game" is actually quite useful imo: it shows when a fish is hungry (but not yet starving), it shows where a monster will spawn, it shows HP of monsters.

Its pronounced (im pretty sure) In-san-aquarium, almost like insane aquarium but its san and not sane, also this game is literally me and my sisters childhood
I was just about to mention that, actually.
I think that the reason it's "san" and not "sane" is because the "e" would not be silent in "Insaneiquarium", but rather would blend with the next vowel.
