My question is I have old outdated $2 bills, old outdated $1 bills, one outdated $20 bill from 1977, old pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters dating from 1964 and earlier plus I have an old euro Brazilian $10,000 bill. I went to my local back they wouldn't take the money since it was so old. I don't know what to do but wanna get the money for the full amount and get rid of them. What can I do?
Try a local coin & currency dealer. If your bills are in good condition and are actually old (and not, like, 1995 or even 1976), you may have something. Not as sure about the coins. You can try eBay - look up similar bills and see what they go for. Then either sell them there or as I said, find someone local who has a coin & currency shop. They'd take them if they were good items.
It was actually 1966 when they decided to stop making them. The last year on a bill prior to that was 1963. Around 1973, they decided to have a new bill ready for the bicentennial in 1976; they did the research, made the decision, and got going on the printing plates.

Not sure if she contacted the treasury or what, but apparently there is a division that deals with destroyed money to make it “whole”. They actually went through the burnt up crumbles and reassembled as much as possible. From what I recall, as long as they were able to verify at least 51% of the bill was there, it was 100% value.

That does not sound right... if I turn in 25% of a bill for a new one, then couldn't I come back later and give them the other 75% and get another bill? Heck, why not bring in one-third of the bill three times and get THREE bills for it? I would think you have to have at least half of the bill to get it replaced. If not, I just found a new way to get rich.
I see advertisements on the TV about $2 bills with the Space Force on it or Donald Trump's image on them. Are these actual 2 dollar bills that have been changed? And if so, are they legal tender?

@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary well, getting a hold of 2 dollar bills isn't very hard for you, since you already have many. For the testing part, there are various methods for sampling large amounts of banknotes.
I don't do anything different than anyone else can do - I just go to the bank and ask for them. If you want more like I do, just go to more banks (or tell 1 bank how many you want and they'll order them for you). I’ve been struggling with the idea of money for a few years, and I’ve been able to conclude that the monetary systems of this world will not cease until they have destroyed every human being. That’s unless we can reveal money for what it really is: paper. Money was originally a commodity, meaning it had value in itself (gold, silver, shells, etc. ), but as travel and bartering progressed, paper money was commissioned as a representative money. This money gained its value from the commodity it represented. Therefore, this paper money became a symbol for value. If you are not familiar with linguistics or semiotics, it is important to know that a symbol can be attached to several different connotations, which can compromise human beings’ perspectives, motivations, and behavior depending on how they communicate with this symbol or how the symbol is communicated to them. In 1971, Richard Nixon, through several economic measures, revealed that US currency was in fact fiat currency, meaning it was not backed by a commodity. For years, Americans were lead to believe that the dollar was backed by gold, meaning money had real value (although I never really understood why shiny rocks held so much value either. I suppose all paths lead back to the main economic tool of profit, scarcity). No Gold Standard meant no real value, leaving us with bank vaults, wallets, and mattresses full of paper. So if the US dollar, along with most world currencies, didn’t have any value then what’s the point? First, let’s remember that paper money is a symbol, a symbol which originally had the connotation of “commodity” attached to it, but like all symbols, it can have several connotations attached to it. With the paper dollar’s original connotation stripped away, we are left with the predicament of the symbol: the symbol had been compromised, so with no real commodity value, money has become a tool used to manipulate human perspective, motivation, and behavior. Money merely shadows the currents of human energy, but that energy is there regardless of money. Humans need to wake up and realize that every creation, good or bad, has been done with human hands, and we can continue to progress, innovate, and improve the quality of the human existence with our energy, independent from the compromised and corrupted symbol systems of money. “But we need money; how will thing’s get done?” To those asking this question, I pose you this counter question: What really needs to “get done”, and what is money’s role in this? So what does need to get done. My answer: end the wars, stop poverty, save the environment, cure diseases, end racism, end classism, end sexism, educate our children, find clean energy, stop crime, end the prison industrial system, stop (real) drug abuse, etc. When I look at this list of problems, I realize that all paths lead back to money. Money compromises the human existence. Money feels no human emotion. It forces us to fend for ourselves, turning us against one another. It feels no love. It feels no pain, fear, or hate, but it creates it. “Tough” business decisions may lead to a loss of jobs, foreclosed homes, or even a war, but business, markets, and money have no conscience towards the domino effect of anguish that they push into motion. So, here’s my call to action: WRITE ON MONEY. Use pens, Sharpees, paint, whatever. Send it into circulation. Once that idea is made clear, we can begin taking exponentially faster steps towards a more relishable human existence. Please Submit your bills to the blog for posting, and make sure to write the website on the back of your bills to direct others on how this project works. Or start your own write on money campaign. Either way, write on money!
Legally, yes. They are regular currency which just so happens to have been "decorated". But will a store accept it? My guess is no. $2 bills are already looked at apprehension - try presenting one with Darth Vader or Snoopy on it and it's highly unlikely they'll take it unless the cashier intends to buy it out of the register with her own money.
Back in 1862 when they made the first Federally-issued currency, it was the natural order of things. Stuff didn't cost much, so a $1 made sense, then a $2, and they were going to make a $3, but never did. The simple answer is that was a logical bill to make considering the relative cost of items.
I know a person who is proud of (he burned the currency twice) burning US currency. I have a video of this person. Where I can send this video? I know to report to US Treasury but you know someone from inside the Treasury ?.... so I can send the video clip thru emial. thanks..
I don't know who to send that to. I know some people from the Treasury from the time I shot $2 bills being printed there, but none of those people deal with currency-burners. My honest opinion is to just forget it. It's not worth the hassle to try and get this person in trouble. He'll get a warning - mostly to appease you - and be let go. Move on to more important things in your life.
It's not illegal. Your best bet is to go ahead and spend the bill somewhere. You can also deposit it into your bank. No one is going to do anything because of what's written on the bill.
If you want to write on your own money that no one will see, I'm sure it's fine. Similarly, if you defaced a $5 bill in front of a policeman, you would not be hauled off to jail. But generally, the "law" is that you can't deface U.S. currency. It probably applies to large bills in mass quantities and the ramification of taking a large amount of currency out of circulation.
I have an 1896 "Rainbow Note" $2 bill, which is really cool. But I'm generally not a collector - I like making videos. The $2 billis a topic I love, so obviously that's the content I produce, but it doesn't mean I actively seek a collection. If I can get a good one though, I usually jump on the chance. Do you collect them?

Did you say donuts?? Anyway, if you want to see some, go to the bank and get them. Have the bank order them if they don't have them handy. Then use them. The reason you never see them is because people think they're rare or valuable, and so they hoard them. $2 bills are regular currency which should be treated as such. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they didn't make more last November. They did.
That's kinda crazy... later on you spend those bills, right? So are you hiding the religion from yourself or keeping the recipients of the bill from seeing it? If the latter, you do know there are other bills out there besides the ones you come in contact with, right?
Decoration? Sad to think that this character made a business out of rubber stamps to exercise their "rights" of free speech by "decorating" any currency,. I wonder how other countries (EU for example) handle this kind of decorating. Maybe this hints that keeping a stash of virgin bills might make them of interest downstream when the world is polluted with cartoonish currency. Hell, keep a stash anyway, in addition to spending them at the local McDonalds (which always throws the young counter-clerks into a tizzy). They thought my Kennedy 50 cent piece was a dollar coin last week.
Great question, but I've answered this to varying degrees in several other videos on this channel. Actually I predict if anyone is EVER stupid enough to put Donald Trump's putrid image on a bill then within a short time I am guessing it will become illegal to use these bills UNLESS they are defaced in the prescribed manner ...By A. By simply drawing a circle around the bastard's image and then simply placing a prominent diagnonal slash either left to right or right to left passing through his disgusting face hold ING personal significance of your are right or left leaning ...one could expect any of these bills to end up with a X over the face in a very short time once it was the found the man was actually NO ONE's president But my quests initially will be more people choosing option B. WHich will simply be writing any one of a no doubt growing list of approved words accross Trump's image ... like "MORON" "LOSER" "IDIOT" "IMEBICLE" "LIAR" "CHEATER" "TRAITOR" "PHONEY" .....Well you get the idea but NO you may NOT write "FUCKER" ....well unless the bill is only ever after seen by adult. But you WILL be permitted to put "F*cker"...or even something like "Dick Head" "Numb Nuts" ....Now I can't guess if they will these bills to be enhanced as aftermarket collectibles ...like totally painting over his head with colorized anatomically accurate image of limp penis ....or and anus or infect vagina....personally however I don't see anyone but perhaps a few religious groups having a problem with this....
Is it illegal to burn money is it illegal to eat money is it illegal to rip money on purpose is it illegal to do all the things I ask you on purposely only 7 so I don't know it's just my mom's profile picture so is it illegal
You won't get arrested for doing any of those because it's not like a murder or something the police are watching for. But if you did it to a large quantity of money in front of a law enforcement official, they would make you stop doing it. The government doesn't want currency ruined.

What happen the two dollar bill you’re breaking or you broke broke it
Those secrets will never be revealed.
Can you legally spend colored 2 dollar bills i have some merrick mint custom 2 dollar bills am i still able to spend it?
Legally, yes. They are regular currency which just so happens to have been "decorated". But will a store accept it? My guess is no. $2 bills are already looked at apprehension - try presenting one with Darth Vader or Snoopy on it and it's highly unlikely they'll take it unless the cashier intends to buy it out of the register with her own money.
@The Two Dollar Bill Documentary Alright thanks for the Answer appreciate it
Why was the two dollar bill made?
Back in 1862 when they made the first Federally-issued currency, it was the natural order of things. Stuff didn't cost much, so a $1 made sense, then a $2, and they were going to make a $3, but never did. The simple answer is that was a logical bill to make considering the relative cost of items.
Why make a 2 bill for
good vid
I know a person who is proud of (he burned the currency twice) burning US currency.
I have a video of this person. Where I can send this video?
I know to report to US Treasury but you know someone from inside the Treasury ?.... so I can send the video clip thru emial.
thanks..
I don't know who to send that to. I know some people from the Treasury from the time I shot $2 bills being printed there, but none of those people deal with currency-burners. My honest opinion is to just forget it. It's not worth the hassle to try and get this person in trouble. He'll get a warning - mostly to appease you - and be let go. Move on to more important things in your life.
what if you rip a 2$ bill on accident in front of a cop?
Good question. I doubt he/she'd want to bother arresting or citing you. Probably just tell you to go home and tape it up.
A $2 bill versus a $5 bill
I’ve got a 2 that has the number 32 wrote on it with pen is that illegal and I’m not the one who wrote it
It's not illegal. Your best bet is to go ahead and spend the bill somewhere. You can also deposit it into your bank. No one is going to do anything because of what's written on the bill.
So getting arrested for using a $2 bill in Wallmark and getting taken to jail wouldn’t happen
is a two doller bill more than 2 dollers?
Nope.
0:55.
Looool.
Bill is taking about Bill-s
What is the most valuable two dollar bill?
The ones you do not spend.
The one in your pocket.
Why is it illegal to tear or write on your own money?
If you want to write on your own money that no one will see, I'm sure it's fine. Similarly, if you defaced a $5 bill in front of a policeman, you would not be hauled off to jail. But generally, the "law" is that you can't deface U.S. currency. It probably applies to large bills in mass quantities and the ramification of taking a large amount of currency out of circulation.
People that do this should go to jail. I hate the ones that turn silver or gold coins into rings for jewelry.
It’s just metal who cares what happens to it.
Awesome!!!
Thanks!!
This man's going to jail for every dollar bill destroyed.
Did you even watch the video? No bills destroyed, and it's explained that's no one going to jail for these infractions (especially on a $2 bill)
Yes
what if your intent was to vandalize the dollar bill?
Straight to prison.
YOU BROKE THE LAW
just kidding
There is now video evidence that we wrote on one bill and tore another. But we will claim that it was all special effects.
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary ok
Is it illegal to make a photo copy of a 2 dollar bill
Not really... unless you try to spend it as if it's real money; that's counterfeiting.
Hahaha I will take Care of your money very nice line
Thanks. I hope people take me up on it!
Oh boy! 50s left
can I get a $2 bill at face value?
Yes, at the bank.
Defacing 20 dollar bill is already a thing
Right, they were putting Harriet Tubman's face on some of them.
Thanks for these videos.
Decorating 😂
Glad you like them!
i write on them to track them and see if i get them back
what if you burn bilions
What if 2 dollar bills are actually rare like people thought they were?
They'd be worth more than $2, that's for sure. But there are 1.3 billion of them out there, and they still get used, believe it or not.
The Two Dollar Bill Documentary Well every single one of them has to be used at some point. Like any other denominations.
Who new ripping a paper would sometimes get you arrested HOW PATHETIC
You can still spend the $2 bills
What's your favorite $2 bill on your collection?
I have an 1896 "Rainbow Note" $2 bill, which is really cool. But I'm generally not a collector - I like making videos. The $2 billis a topic I love, so obviously that's the content I produce, but it doesn't mean I actively seek a collection. If I can get a good one though, I usually jump on the chance. Do you collect them?
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary Yeah, I have a small and growing collection. I want the $2 bill with the battleship.
كذلك ارجو وجود بعض التعليقات بالعربية..... havi a good day

Or draw a different president on your bill
Am I the only one who doesn't know about 2 dollars I think we do have that where I live it anyway go's to 1,5,10,20,25 and more but not 2 never 2 pls tell me am not alone and crazy
I want to know please
You're not alone. Maybe a little crazy. Many people don't know there are $2 bills.
What about taping $2 bills to a lighter
That's probably fine.
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary it shows off the art, you can enjoy the beauty of money. and it is just a wallet. its a lighter wallet
The thumbnail physically hurts
Edit: wait no it all hurts help me
It's all special effects.
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary I know, its ment as a joke. But thanks for replying anyways.
what if you burn it on purpose and video it on facebook just for a challenge
I doubt someone would come arrest you, but who knows. If you're thinking of burning any money, just send it to me.
If it in your wallet you can do whatever you want with it
Nah it’s illegal to burn it
Ben isn’t wrong. Greed has corrupted politics for decades
if they still make 2 dollar bills today how come we donuts see them
Did you say donuts?? Anyway, if you want to see some, go to the bank and get them. Have the bank order them if they don't have them handy. Then use them. The reason you never see them is because people think they're rare or valuable, and so they hoard them. $2 bills are regular currency which should be treated as such. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they didn't make more last November. They did.
I've always marked out the religious jargon on every bill that I come in contact with.
That's kinda crazy... later on you spend those bills, right? So are you hiding the religion from yourself or keeping the recipients of the bill from seeing it? If the latter, you do know there are other bills out there besides the ones you come in contact with, right?
So you mark out "In God We Trust" on every coin and dollar bill you get?
Love money
I have a 5 dollar bill and a 1 dollar bill
That's amazing.
They thought my Kennedy 50 cent piece was a dollar coin last week.
are we sure this is america?
Pretty sure.
I have a question, "Exactly how many different $2 bills are there made?"
Great question, but I've answered this to varying degrees in several other videos on this channel. This one, where we showcase the beautiful backs of some $2 bills, will have some: th-cam.com/video/wTNxH-OePb8/w-d-xo.html There's one called "5 facts..." you can also check out. We haven't done a video dedicated strictly to showing all the different $2 bills. Maybe it's time! Thank you.
what would happen if you put a different face on it?
Well, here's my fun answer: th-cam.com/video/v7CV9Zw-mYg/w-d-xo.html
$20
No we won't prosecute you for vandalizing your cash. But we could😉
That's pretty much it.
Yes it is illegal. You can't intentionally destroy American currency.
Spoiler
Yea I think it’s illegal to destroy legal tender u need to pay a fine of a 30 bucks or?
Spoiler: watch the video and see. You are way off.
?💵🔨
50:50:50
Just don’t spend it lol
how about a kid draw all over a two dollar bill ?
As long as you can still tell it's a $2 bill, it should be accepted. But the bank will send it back to the Fed to be destroyed if they ever get it.
The government doesn't want currency ruined.
i have a 1917 2 dollar bill
Those are cool! Where did you get it?
The Two Dollar Bill Documentary I surprisingly got it from my bank
