Ive always been a big strong man, 6"5 260. I have my house paid off, and vehicle's paid for. I recently lost my liscense and job, which has made me feel trapped in my own home. I just turned 30 and I feel that im better off than most men my age, but this last 6 months have got me depressed and not upbeat like I was. I have just joined a gym a mile away and been forming a plan to start my own business and made my circle around better people. I feel less anxious and am excited for what I can create for me and my family. Thanks for the motivation!

I'm diagnosed with major depression. Been on nearly a dozen different prescriptions for it and they've never really done much. The things that have worked for me are exercise, staying busy, abstaining from masturbation (definitely stop watching pornography) and creating routines.

    What works me:
Proper sleep, wake up at sunrise and go to sleep at sundown.
Take a simple walk around the block, make sure you get at least 15-30 minutes of sunlight daily.
Love yourself again by living in the moment and letting go of the past.

Excellent video podcast with valuable content with the 8 tips! I would add one more and that would be 9. Pursue faith in God and relationship with Him in a community of faith. This has helped me tremendously in the past when I have felt down. Scripture reading and worship songs have been particularly helpful to me and others I know. I love the video podcast format! Thanks Ryan!

Thank you for addressing this and actually providing some solutions, depression among men is a major issue and we see it with the suicide rates. I would like to add some important things to the list that seem obvious but most of us have fallen for them more than once in our lives (raising my hand right now):
-Your significant other needs to compliment your life, not be the center of it
-Protect yourself from the legal system, it is not your friend, especially family court
-stay out of debt and bump up those savings and retirement numbers

Recently I feel inept not feeling like myself lost my father in April 2020. Being dealing with helping my widow mother with finances and helping her with other matters with the help of my wife. At times I feel sad feel like crying but I do not in front of others but keep my pain internal. My motivation level is low although it has not affected in my job. Hearing your advice I will reflect on myself to do better for myself I need to bring back the joy in my life. Thank You my friend God bless you

I'd also say that, as a teacher, your audience has different modules of learning. You should incorporate some graphics in your posts. That will help immensely. At least, it will help for me. Your teaching style is on point, but you can make it even better bro.

I started a bodyweight workout routine a while back and it literally gives me more energy than i have before i begin the workout. I target every limb and muscle that i know how to activate via exercise and here is some of the excersises for anyone that wants to try them.
*Stretch before you begin and stay hydrated during*
    1. 100 push ups ( incline, decline to increase difficulty or use different hand placements to target different areas)
    2. 100 sit ups
    3. 100 squats
    4. 100 leg lifts
    5. 100 calf raises
    6. 1-2 minute plank
    7. Watch at least one (depending on the length of the video) educational video before, during, or after this workout each day.

Excellent sensible points. Better advice than you would get from most doctors who normally would charge you for prescribing a useless drug. I guess point 7, positive/ negative people, might include to get away from negative depressing wife. For more severe, physiological depression, short swim in icey cold water each morning can be very effective.

Love this channel - just wanted to give ya mine as well! Thank you brother! Step one, tough love. Step 2 no one gives a shit the universe does not care about your plight,Think about the people that have it worse than you.. Step 3 harden up and toughen up. Step 4 do not show your emotions people will kick you while you’re down step 5 do your hobbies. Get out of the house move your energy, get pissed and use that energy to move your ass forward. Step 6 get disciplined about it . stick to a schedule on it. step 7 no one gives a shit step 8 See step one -
with love, include me, your higher self

I'm doing well with most of these but Brotherhood. I have a lot of friends but none I feel a strong connection with or on the same path with. Most of the males around me are either are trying to still be punk rock, metal, or Street and the others prefer a life of lots of TV. I'm not trying to live a life I've long ago out grown and I'm not trying to waste away on the couch in front of the TV. I'm cool with being in my own company most of the time , but,,,,,,,,,

Make your "Bucket List"... and tackle the ones you can do, based on your family and financial situation. Take back "your time".... and focus on something you enjoy. For me... working on my Vette, work on my boat, or work on building my airplane. Learn to say "NO" to things that rob you of your "self".....including people and family. Not to neglect them, or ignore...just prioritize yourself.

Quick question; what if depression stems from being a alienated parent who hasn't seen or known of their children for years and courts have been absolutely no help what so ever? Everyday is a tortuous existence. For those of us fathers who Love and care for our children, they play a huge part in our lives and the quality of it.

    • @Lion-1.
      @Lion-1. 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Parental alienation is very painful. I found meaning in reading about parental alienation and going online and listening to people’s stories and looking in the chat and comments section. As an alienated parent, I remind myself I’m worthy of a healthy life and joy and I’ll use this time to strengthen myself spiritually and emotionally and focus on enriching activities. On Christmas Day , I spent the day responding very upset, distressed alienated parents who posted comments about their situations and tried to encourage and support them while they are navigating the challenges of parental alienation. I learned a lot and it’s key to be kind and gentle with yourself and create meaningful experiences. I wish you the best and hope my reply is helpful.

The Staff Sergeant at the Recruiting office I go to does these monthly competitions, and always says "It pays to be a winner." He would break us into groups and have us compete, and the winning group doesn't have to do the final workout. Btw, there isn't a second or third place or mine of that bull shit. You're 1st place, or your the 1st loser, 2nd loser, or whatever it may be. ive seen some crazy shit (and even done some crazy shit) to win

It’s situational depression. If your depression lasts less than 6 months. Most likely it’s situational. Over 6 months go to your doctor. No excuse. But the bottom line is to recognize the symptoms early and you seek resolution early. The better the outcome will be.
The only thing I might say about your video. All good advice to be sure. But one of the symptoms is lack of energy and motivation. It takes a lot of discipline to overcome this by yourself. That’s why short term antidepressants can help you get back on track. I’m speaking from my experience(s). Please brothers, if you suffer from PTSD, get help. There are more effective treatments coming on-line. Get help, your not alone in this fight.

I don't know what a man is without God. But I understand the churches have failed men. Yet none of those were the Eastern Orthodox church which is virtually unheard of in America - I guarantee it. It preponderates in Russia and Eastern Europe and is fundamentally a different religion than Catholics and Protestants, even if a lot of the same words are used.

Please don't downplay the importance of young men & mental health by saying your depression on separating from wife WAS not a mental health issue. You males and your followers NEED to recognize that a mental health issue is NOT shameful or lack of manliness it is what it IS. By encouraging your followers to seek therapy &/or medications so not to take your own life. Please! Thanks!

2021 was the hardest, darkest time of my life. I was physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually BROKEN. But now I feel genuinely GRATEFUL and BLESSED that I had to go through that phase because GOD has graciously REVEALED Himself to me in miraculous ways. I am fortunate that He allowed me to know Him at a very young age, but this year is SPECIAL because of what WE (yes, GOD and me) have been through last year. He showed me how POWERFUL prayers truly are when I started to focus on WHO HE IS rather than who I am, on WHAT HE CAN DO rather than what I deserve. The experience was MAGICAL. He showed up BIG TIME and assured me that HE is indeed a LISTENING and RESPONDING GOD. Oh how my faith has skyrocketed as a result! Now more than ever, I have very bright HOPE for my future because I personally experienced how RELIABLE God is. And for that I will forever be grateful. GLORY BE TO GOD, MY EVER FAITHFUL FATHER. ♥️♥️♥️
To everyone who's struggling right now, please know that GOD LOVES YOU. He wants to help you and give you peace. Please surrender your burdens to Him and allow Him to move in your life.
"Because he loves Me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges My Name. He will call on Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him." (Psalm 91:14-15)
Please hold on to this bible verse because WHATEVER GOD SAYS, HE FULFILLS. 🛐
