The fellow who lives on and owns North Dumpling Island is the same fellow who invented the Segway. When I was a kid it was run by the Coast Guard and wasn't nearly as nicely set up as he has it. I spent a lot of time boating and water skiing and fishing in Fishers Island sound as a lad. Memories
Alan, I just discovered your channel last week. I have been binge watching all your videos from season 2. First I watched from when you launched to this one. I then went back and watched the entire build. I must say, that was the best build series I have seen on TH-cam. I really enjoyed and couldn’t stop watching it. I have built a micro-skiff so far and plan to build a sailing catamaran for coastal camp cruising. If I decide to cross an ocean one day, the Wave Rover 650 is on the top of my list. It is a really great looking and capable boat. Merry Christmas and happy New Year!!
Good work on the chaffing, that eliminates a big problem in the near future. I still smile at watching how well she motors with a small hp outboard. Thanks for the video.
Hey Alan, have a safe trip ! I am actually sailing with you, watch the current, up to 7 knots through Hells Gate, befor the Brooklin Bridge, and keep a lookout for the ferry that goes to Governors Island. I anchored in the Hudson River, near 79th street and left my dinghi at the Yacht Club there, great memories ! 😉
Love Stonington as well! Having been through that area a few times racing, I am familiar with those tides. We would choose a side and drop anchor and wait for favorable currents. Merry Christmas! Fair winds and following seas!
If I had known you were in Manhasset Bay, I would have gone over to meet you and see Wave Rover in person. Sail looks good. Glad to see you back underway.
A few folks have said that. In the future I will broadcast my sailing attentions as meeting up with Rovers has been a truly enjoyable part of this whole adventure.
Merry Xmas skipper. I was wondering if a rigging like the NONSUCH sailboats (catboat with a wishbone boom) could be relevant on a WRII hull ? It looked like a pretty straightforward architecture IMHO. Fair winds.
Hi Allen ... quick question ... i don't remember you ever mentioning just where exactly you are sailing to. You are obviously sailing down the Eastern Seaboard, but what exactly is the final destination that you have in mind? I'm not too sure that I will have the time to catch up with you as you pass through New Jersey waters -- the Holiday has much of my time committed to family -- but i would love to see Wave Rover in person if possible!! It's really hard to gauge the interior of the boat on video, and I would really like to see it in person if possible, and wish you a good trip in person!!!
I did not realize that there was that much of a delay in the video release schedule. Oh well, maybe some day!! Merry Christmas my friend!@@RoversAdventure
@@RoversAdventure Surprising (to me at least) given your comment about keeping warm and dry (particularly, I'm assuming, while you're sailing in more northerly climes).
While you were in Canada I would quickly convert temperatures from Celsius to Fahrenheit. Now that you in the USA when you give temperatures I’m just thinking Fahrenheit. I Must avoid that going forward.
Harold from Stonington??? Is his last name lauder??? Never go to Vagas with him. If she isnt there shell ne in hemingford home Nebraska. Avoid anyone named flagg
Wishing all Rovers, both on land and sea, a very Merry Christmas.
Thank You, Captain. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well as all the Rovers. Fair winds and following seas.
Merry Christmas to you as well.
Merry Christmas!

Welcome aboard Mark and thanks for a great comment.
Compliments of the season Sir! Good luck and fair winds for 2024!
Thanks, you too!
Thank you
You're welcome
I am fascinated by that junk-rig sail. It seems very simple to operate and there is beauty in simplicity!
Exactly.

The 6Hp was a great choice and opened up so many possibilities.
Good Luck Alan Peace Be With You. Glad to see we Can Build Waverover too. Be safe
Merry Christmas Gregory
Merry Christmas Alan🎄🎄
Same to you!

Hell Gate comes with quite the reputation.
@@RoversAdventure Well, if you are against the current, it' s a no go, but with it, time flies ! 😂

Very popular for racing
What a great name for a restaurant in Charlottetown, " North Dumpling."
What a great idea for a restaurant name. Thanks for watching my friend and have a Merry Christmas.
Have watched much of the early build period. Really great to see the start of the adventure.
Thanks

At the start, that single reef appeared to balance WR and the MK3 very well in those 15kt gusts. Thanks for sharing Alan, good route choice 😉
Great to hear from you Ray.
Excellent video as usual … thanks! The sail anti-chafe update is looking good … bon voyage and hold fast! ⛵️🇨🇦🙂
I hope that you recognized the Melon Seed hull under construction in the CLC video.
All the best for the holidays Alan. Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years. Looking forward to see where you go in ‘24!
Wishing you a very merry Christmas my friend. There will be an ocean crossing in 2024
Love following your adventure! Can I suggest you put date on the sailing episodes. Nice to when you actually made a passage. Carry on!
Spike
Very good idea. I will implement it a few videos down the line
Merry Christmas Alan! Stay safe and fair winds in the new year! You done good on Wave Rover. 💯
Thank you Jeremy and Merry Christmas to you.
Good luck Alan. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!⛵️🍾🇨🇦
Same to you my David.
Whats your sale plan?
Merry Christmas
Hi Alan.
I would have liked to see your finished anti chafe (carpet) repair.
Fair wind and Merry Christmas.
gary in Japan.
You are right. I'll try to capture it in the future

I'm past New Jersey now. I'm located in Chesapeake Bay for the winter. I'll be heading across the Atlantic in 2024.

Merry Christmas Alan! Looks like you might benefit from a tiller extension handle for the outboard? No more reaching down so far.
Absolutely. I just haven't gotten around to it.
I keep forgetting to ask, have you considered adding weather cloths to the aft deck railings? I love mine, they cut the wind significantly
I've never been a big fan of them mainly because I intend to take WR offshore.
Good to see you back in the boat and sailing. How far down are you going before you turn left?
Chesapeake Bay will be the turning point. More on that coming in the new year.
Wondering what sort of foul weather gear you use??
Just my old construction gear.

Check out "North Dumpling Island" on Wikipedia for an interesting read.
how big is your sail?

I really ought to put the F conversion in the video. I tend to think in C.
I wrote an email that went to the wrong Alan 😅 he was nice though.
I wanted to say i think having WR Avaliable as a CNC Design would be awesome.
Great to hear. If you don't mind please send another email to either Andy or me please.
Did you get that Maritime Marine shirt for free? (Hope Binnacle can hang in for a bit of choice)
Good eye. Maritime Marine sponsored me with a lot of supplies. I did ask Binnacle if they were interested but they declined.
Heads must turn when you sail into harbors on that odd little homemade junk rigged boat.
You are absolutely right, especially when they hear where the voyage started

lol, not the same guy.
