I got a fantastic woollen jumper for Christmas last year and I've hardly worn it because I like it so much and dont want to damage it.... crazy stuff really ha ha. Well done guys, great video. 👍
A great example of how you make a pretty standard couple of days sailing into a very watchable video - great shots of the spinaker and Atlas just doing her thing.
Atlas really is a well designed boat lads that anchor locker set up is a great idea and the way she takes off under spinnaker or flies along on a beam reach really is a credit to her designer . Some great footage in this episode good to see you enjoying yourselves, fair winds and calm seas !!
Great sailing shots there boys; nice camera work. Personally; I enjoy the walkabout footage. The places that you visit don't always have to be super interesting, it's nice to see what 'normal' places look like, it gives us a real feel of the places you visit. Thanks lads.
We try and do a healthy balance of sailing and filming on land. Not everyone likes the on land footage some prefer just sailing. A bit of this a bit of that 😁
Atlas is fast! I sailed on a Najad 360 once. I hardly ever saw her do more than six knots. Very sturdy and nice boat though. I like Atlas better though. She looks nicer and has better proportions and the caracteristics of a faster yacht. Plus the fact that she is very solid and sits well in the seas. Beautiful! I learn a lot by watching you. Thanks! 😄
guy's your getting some good shots with the camera, and l must say that is one very neat locker for the anchor very tidy atlas never ceases to amaze great boat, keep up the good work guys
I love your videos. It's so sad you're in a hurry, because you're sailing past some of the prettiest seaside towns in America without stopping. Oh well, next time around. Fair winds.
Fantastic sailing footage over the hull perspective, guys! That was dreamy....then you turned it up to the spinnaker full under the blue sky! Going in for another viewing!! Happy Sailing!!⛵
Loved this video guys. Luke seems to have two conflicting mind sets, if it’s cloths and he likes them he doesn’t want to put them on coz they will wear out, but if it is cheese he likes he wants to eat it all straight away! Did the bendy buses remind you of Cardiff? Atlas just looks after you guys so well, I still love the way she sails so well, pure class. Thanks again keep having fun.
There was a sign on that expensive supermarket that had 'Strange Ways' written on it. That's the name of the prison in Manchester. It is also where the original Boddington's brewery was located.
Still watching your videos lads despite not commenting for a while. You’ll be more famous than Nessa by the time you get back to Barry! Keep keeping it real boys!
Beautiful sailing weather, and a very enjoyable and relaxing watch! I'm the same when it comes to clothes, can't beat comfy worn cotton around the house and garden. Try a plate, if you don't have a lid - tin plates always come in handy.
With all the cheese you two eat you should re-name yourselves "Wallace & Gromit" they were huge cheese fan's also Loving the the New Threads and as always a good episode
We'll guy's ya'll doing great the episode are getting fun, things are quite expensive in some places in New York but don't let that worry you Walmart is a great choice it's so great the way ya'll explain how you are getting on, things do break, you both are on point getting thing's fixed, done New clothes cool but guy's keep waring your hats, be safe out there, looking forward to seeing more episodes Happy sailing ⛵️ guy's
Hey Winston. You never fail to watch and leave a comment on each video 😁. New York was very expensive but there is always a cheap Walmart around the corner. We bought all our new clothes in Walmart 😁. What a bargain. We don't wear our hats all the time but we really should. Thanks Winston, take care
Another excellent video, really enjoy watching them, as someone mentioned the filming and editing is certainly more slick, not that there was anything wrong with your earlier ones. Stay safe... !
You guys passed right by my childhood home in Woodbury, Long Island. If I was still there I would have shared a few beers with you. I am a beer snob so it would not have been shite beers! LOL
I just started watching you guys and signed up as a Patreon. It kills me that I didn't know you went up LI Sound! I live in NY, the south side of the Sound, and could really have hooked you up! Maybe someday you'll return! Fair winds! I'm watching now!
Hi Mickey. Thank you so much for joining the patron family. I hope you got our messages. Yes we done the Long Island sound and it was bloody fantastic. We will be back next time around the world 🌍 😁
Another great and interesting video. The "Amistad" was at one point a slave ship and is well known in the black history of America. Whitney Houston mentions the chains of Amistad in her music video "Your love is my love".
Nice! I think you should trust the snap shackle - they hold on harder the higher the tension, and it's there for an emergency release. Another great video - thanks for sharing!
The choices in the supermarkets are boggling aren't they?! I found and still find it rather bewildering! And me and my cheese got a mench!!! Scooterless? Another great vlog guys, thank you!
Really enjoying your voyage of discovery! We used to keep our 45-foot ketch down to the west of the channel. I think your viewers/followers would have been interested in the story behind Amisted. It’s a former slave stop that was taken over by the slaves. Enjoy the journey, lads.
Excellent video as usual. One point the snap shackle on the main is their to be used as a quick emergency recovery for a MOB as the block pulleys will enable hoisting up a heavy weight. I've noticed how much cheese you guys are consuming, so maybe think of refitting. Lol
Never thought of it like that. That makes perfect sense. It would be eventually impossible to pull a dead weight out of the water over the rail by yourself.
Working in New York, our house was opposite the yacht club at Glen Cove on Long Island. I kept a 30ft Dufour on a mooring and had some of the best sailing of the past 50 years, almost always enough wind and during the occasional blow the protected Sound prevented any huge seas from building up. Just over 100 miles out to Montauk. The only downside, if you're accustomed to sailing in Europe, was the lack of landing places.. almost no marinas or easy access to shelter with a decent pub/restaurant on the quayside.
Hi James. That sounds absolutely amazing. What a place to have a house and keep your boat right next to it. We never visit marinas as they are too expensive. We are happy to anchor everywhere and take our tender to the beach. We sure do miss our British fish and chips 😁
The fishing boats coming out of New Haven are Oyster boats. I work at the fuel terminal in New Haven harbor and sail my Ericson 35 out of Branford. I’m new to the channel, great video!!
Loved the footage with the music. Well put together. I wondered why that supermarket wasn’t very busy . That was quite expensive. Keep em coming lads x
Great video guys. Your snap shackle on the traveller is so you can unclip it easily and attach to the toe rail to keep the boom out of the way in harbour. It won’t come undone accidentally but understand if you feel happier with a standard shackle. Stay safe both.
Personally I would keep the snap shackle there’s absolutely no way that will release with a load on it great video anyway guys loved the New York footage as well 👊🏼
My wellie boots have to have holes in their holes before I can quite bear to filthy up the new replacement ones - and ditto for clothes - so Luke, you are not alone! But Adam is also right - nothing nicer than new clothes and better worn whilst we are alive to do it. I've lately made a conscious effort to drag new things out and use them before shuffling off the old mortal. I might even look presentable occasionally if I try hard. A very entertaining video, thank you.
It seems Luke is not alone by all the comments on this episode 😁. I think we should wear decent clothes while filming as we don't want to look dirty 🤣🤣. Sounds like your like Luke Fionna
@@TheSailingBrothers I am, Adam - but you are right about being presentable for filming and i'm sure I'm not alone in appreciating the thought you both put into your videos. Sadly, the wellies with holes didn't make it to the bin this morning though - maybe tomorrow.... xxx
Lovly lad's them clips on the sail are a pain i had the same.. I have a look at finding the screw together one's nice.. Lovely sailing again.. Anchorage looks lovely. As. For the experience in the arm and a leg shop.. I went to a litte shop in King sand in Plymouth and the bacon was nearly £10 for 6 rashers 😬.. Bought a loaf and left 😂.. Happy sailing guys peace out🧀🧀⚓⛵🎵🎶✌️💜🇧🇲
Yes the old clips kept breaking all the time. These screw ones are much better. That shop was so expensive it was full of really posh people 🤣🤣. £10 for 6 rashes of bacon 🤬, nuts! Thanks Ricky ✌️👍👌😁😁

Luke, Adam Like the new duds guy's. The photo shoot over the side with the accompanying sound track while sailing into New Haven was excellent gr8 choice. Keep up the gr8 work fellas. Take care Cheers Tony Ps Luke... don't you get bound up with eating so much cheese mate 😂
Fisher Island looks like from a movie ^^ Unfortunately I am a bit like Luke when it comes to new clothes ... I have some shirts untouched for 3 years by now :P At least I have really new stuff if needed ;) Keep it up guys, you really should have way more subscribers, people have no idea what they are missing!
Fisher Island was incredible to look at. Luke has lots of new t-shirts he bought from Walmart. He really should wear some decent clothes being on TV and all 😂😂. I'm just pulling his leg
Hi Ya, The 2 minute sequence with the camera a couple of meters off the Port quarter was really something. Just to watch the sea (in the sound) the capitol stabilising sheets on the whisker pole and the relaxing sense of real travel was so good. I'm pleased to see more examples of environmental savings with Luke's attitude to wearing new clothes. He must of nicked the policy from Greta who hasn't bought new over-wear in 6 years.....I don't know whether I missed the "new" electronics on board Atlas but when did you guys get the Raymarine tiller Auto-pilot, same one as me, and the Radar? All goods stuff though. Little update on my 'Oceanic Tranquillity' trip: I sail on the 15th August on the Low Tide.....Yippeeeee. Just awaiting 30 meters of anchor warp for the 2nd anchor to arrive and I'm off to the Azores (Horta). My Best, David. PS. How heavy is your primary anchor? Cheers
Hey David. Thanks for your positive comments about the sailing. He will wear old clothes until they turn to rags 😂. We've always had the radar and the electric tiller pilot which we call Jim Bob 😁. We don't use it very often so it hasn't been on camera much. Ooh getting excited now! Bring on the 15th of August. Hope you get all your bits and pieces in time. I will probably anchor is 25lb. I will back up anchor is 40 lb. Cheers David ✌️⛵
JPb(Aust) Nice video once again. Love waking up on Monday mornings to see if there is a new video. Can you give us a quick run down of future plans? Keep safe, and good sailing.
They will always be a new sailing video released Sunday evenings 6:00 p.m.. after Canada we are looking for a weather window to head south to the Caribbean for winter then through Panama canal into the Pacific.
Great channel guys, love it!I am not 100% percent sure on this, but removing that snapshackle might be safety concern also, I assume its there so you could release it an emergency, say if you could not reef (in time) and the ropes got tangled, and you needed to release the boom quickly. You could always cut the ropes I guess. It just occurred to me, am I wrong here?A trade off I guess..
I just found your channel, and have watched 10 of your videos. Where are you right now? Going to cross the North Atlantic in hurricane season? You could consider overwintering the boat in Nova Scotia or something Newfoundland and returning in the Spring 2023 to cross the Atlantic to the Azores in June… I can help you out with local knowledge of Newfoundland.
Welcome to the channel Edward. We are currently in Nova Scotia. The episodes are around 3 weeks behind real time. We will be heading back down the Caribbean for winter in late October and then through Panama into the Pacific 😁
Good job, on the videos, Are you going to leave the boat on this side of the Atlantic for this winter, or sail back across later this fall? In Newfoundland your best options are the Royal Newfoundland Yach Club , near St Johns, or the Lewisporte Yacht club on the North Central coast of the island…
Thanks Edward. We are going to be sailing back down to the Caribbean late October. We will be heading through Panama into the Pacific this coming winter ⛵😁
So...sooner or later...the Atlantic Adventure will see you returning to the UK? Did you get a NEW camera or is my cataract surgery actually working? Sail on.
The advantage adventure is being booted. We are heading back to the Caribbean for winter then Panama canal into the Pacific. Still using the same old GoPro hero 7 😁
You two never get any better do ya , yeah it's me , i'm still about . Luke , the new clothes deal . Yeah i can relate to that , because i'm the same . I can't get past that one either mate , so you're not alone . I used to wear a white pair of trousers , and tee shirt when i was sailing . If you've ever sailed the east coast , you're know , that's a bad idea , but they were both old . Observation here guy's , on the video , errr 3.50 , from the angle the film was shot at , it looked to me , as though the g car could benefit a bit , from being moved a tad aft . It would bring the clew further aft , straightening the foot , and tightening the leech , flattening the sail . This should close the slot , making the main a little more efficient . However , the risk is , if the car is moved too far aft it could add too much twist into the jib , and work the opposite way , loosening the leech .
@@TheSailingBrothers Yeah i know how he thinks , like i said i have the same problem . You buy new clothes because you need them , but then you don't wanna wear them , because they are new . It is what it is , i guess , but it's crazy situation . As for the sail , just keep an eye on the leech , and the tell tales , if you have them . They will tell you instantly , if there's being any improvement . I was taught to keep the slot as tight as possible in light winds . Yes the leech will shimmer , just don't allow it too flog . Basically , you throw away some performance for an overall gain . It was once described to me , that a sail is like a vertical wing , and the slot is similar to deploying flaps on an aircraft . Closing the slot , creates a venturi effect , in that the wind will speed up , because of the restriction . It makes the rig more efficient , in much the same way a flap makes a wing more efficient . Could even be the reason , why the gap got called the slot .
New Haven is one of the three worst yacht harbors in Long Island Sound! So many better options. Sorry you missed some beautiful yacht harbors. Every coastal town in Connecticut has at least one yacht club.
That was a cool shot of the plane's shadow going across the water, just after the first time you showed your plot map. Not sure why public docks are so expensive. I guess the city councils look on it as a revenue source to help compensate for their failed budgets. Disgusting what leftist policy does to community. It prevents community rather than encourage it. Cool to see the Amistad. Saw her in Greenport, Long Island and the, now sunk, Bounty II in 2005~2006. Beautiful under way shots heading to New Haven! Hope all's well wherever you are.
It's crazy how much the public docks cost to stay on. I think they are just trying to make money. The Amistad was an incredible looking ship with an amazing history. Just imagine being able to sail her 😲✌️
Please do NOT throw your boat parts (the main clip you tossed)into our local waters. Keep your garbage on your boat! The Long Island Sound is recovering from past and current pollutants.

Next Time I'll have MY people hook you Lads Up!... more TIME for " Some of the BEST Crack known to Man!...( Crack is NOT DRUGS) For those who aren't familiar...us KERRY MEN are... lol.
Luke, Adam
Like the new duds guy's.
The photo shoot over the side with the accompanying sound track while sailing into New Haven was excellent gr8 choice. Keep up the gr8 work fellas.
Take care
Cheers Tony
Ps Luke... don't you get bound up with eating so much cheese mate 😂
Really appreciate that Anthony thanks very much. Luke has always got a belly full of cheese 😂😂
Another great vid lads nice bit of sailing .bit wired buoyage is reversed pass starboard on red!! we'll done, keep going lads
The voyage was a little confusing but we soon got to grips with it. I don't know why it's the other way around 😂😁
Newport!❤
😁
Amazing.
Newhaven is like shopping in the centre of Oxford or Cambridge. Newhaven is a posh town and Yale University is based there.
@ same with Oxford and Cambridge funnily enough… Oxford still has at least one car factory.
We found parts of New Haven quite run down but others were quite posh
I guess if you go in via seas you sometimes see the best but you also see the worst. I went into Naples from the Med… disgusting and quite horrendous.
Nice sailing footage 👍
Thanks 👍. Atlas is King 👑
Enjoy your journey!!!!
Cheers Jack ✌️

Nice video once again.
Great video again. You're not strange Luke - I wear clothes to death (when they don't survive a wash cycle) before I wear the new gear.
Luke will wear clothes until they are rags 😂😁✌️
Guys, good if you explain that the American buoyage system is the opposite to the European one. So you leave red buoys to port on entry!
Yes it is the opposite in America. I think we explain it better in future videos 😁
Nice one guys 😎 ⛵️
Cheers Rob🙏
awesome stuff Lads.
Pleasure ⛵
Great channel guys, love it!I am not 100% percent sure on this, but removing that snapshackle might be safety concern also, I assume its there so you could release it an emergency, say if you could not reef (in time) and the ropes got tangled, and you needed to release the boom quickly. You could always cut the ropes I guess. It just occurred to me, am I wrong here?A trade off I guess..
You are right. We put the snapshackle back on after many concerned people. It is a safety thing 😁
I just found your channel, and have watched 10 of your videos.
Where are you right now? Going to cross the North Atlantic in hurricane season?
You could consider overwintering the boat in Nova Scotia or something Newfoundland and returning in the Spring 2023 to cross the Atlantic to the Azores in June…
I can help you out with local knowledge of Newfoundland.
Welcome to the channel Edward. We are currently in Nova Scotia. The episodes are around 3 weeks behind real time. We will be heading back down the Caribbean for winter in late October and then through Panama into the Pacific 😁
Good job, on the videos,
Are you going to leave the boat on this side of the Atlantic for this winter, or sail back across later this fall?
In Newfoundland your best options are the Royal Newfoundland Yach Club , near St Johns, or the Lewisporte Yacht club on the North Central coast of the island…
Thanks Edward. We are going to be sailing back down to the Caribbean late October. We will be heading through Panama into the Pacific this coming winter ⛵😁
I think just like Luke! How frequently do the slides break?
That's right Philippe
Cheeeeeese!! 🧀
🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀
Great video - the footage at 8.10 onwards is very impressive!
Thanks very much indeed ✌️
❤️
❤️
So...sooner or later...the Atlantic Adventure will see you returning to the UK?
Did you get a NEW camera or is my cataract surgery actually working?
Sail on.
The advantage adventure is being booted. We are heading back to the Caribbean for winter then Panama canal into the Pacific. Still using the same old GoPro hero 7 😁
😊
✌️
Another great video. The winds seem quite light for your recent episodes. Has there been any 20kt + since NY?
That is not much wind in the Island sound, it's known for it. Haven't had any good wind since the passage to New York ⛵
my how her beak does cleave the wind and waves
New Haven is indeed pretty rough. Keep heading east - there are some much nicer towns.
New Haven was a little run down to be honest
Can I ask you what the teak product is that you’re you have used on you boat
I use Barrettine Teak Oil Terry
Hi, just saw the spring loaded slider retainers on your mast. I need some but I can’t find them online. Any suggestions?
Hi John, they are not spring loaded only a stainless steel screw holding them together. We bought ours from a sail maker in Cardiff
No, not the sliders. It’s the dark pieces fitted behind the mast groove , you pressed it in to remove the slides. John
Hi yakida boys Luke I'm with you on the clothes thing but I can dress up when need to be 👍😊😂
Luke is well happy now 😁
U geaux Boieee’s
😁🤘
Are you in Nova Scotia? I think I met you guys
We are indeed
In American waters - Bouyage = Red Right Return !!
Yes it's opposite in the UK
Maybe look at it this way: The more clothes you wear out in your lifetime, the better the life you lived.
That's one way of looking at it 😁
🍊
😁
Thanks for your advice Mickey ✌️. We will certainly take a look at this. Luke is a bugger for not wearing new clothes 😁😁
Oh no no no no no not New Haven
Yes yes yes yes yes yes 😁
New Haven is one of the three worst yacht harbors in Long Island Sound! So many better options. Sorry you missed some beautiful yacht harbors. Every coastal town in Connecticut has at least one yacht club.
We weren't too impressed with New Haven wasn't really anything there. We did miss out on some beauties
Just imagine being able to sail her 😲✌️
@@TheSailingBrothers Not sure what her underwater hull shape is- she might be a good ride.
Get a better anchor! CQRs drag....
They don't set very well in hard sand. Would love an upgrade William
Nice shirts, wear the nicer clothes when filming…
We should wear decent clothes when we are filming ✌️
Please do NOT throw your boat parts (the main clip you tossed)into our local waters. Keep your garbage on your boat! The Long Island Sound is recovering from past and current pollutants.
Hi Keith, the plastic mainsail clip never went into the water, it was only a bad joke. We would never chuck plastic into the sea
