The tidal current running through the Sound really puts up a chop or standing waves at the east end. While transiting these waters and towing my inflatable dingy, the dingy nearly jumped into the cockpit of my sailboat when pushed by the following seas. After that day, I vowed to NEVER tow my dingy again, but to stow it safely aboard while underway.
Beau, 65F is 19C, and that's a pleasant day here in Ireland. If you complained of the cold in those temperatures, we'd be calling you what some people affectionately call their cats!😂... Great video and beautiful sunset. Good luck in the Big Apple. "It'll be fine" ... Stay Safe & Fair Winds!! ☘
Coming from the desert I totally relate to bundling up an extreme amount. My friends in cold places think I'm insane but my body is just not accustomed to being below 70f. I am always ready to throw on my snow gear and hide from the chill.
Port Washington is my home town. I grew up there. Free mooring balls for up to 3 nights plus a water taxi to get you to shore and the grocery store is just across the street from one of the docks.
Good Friday Morning! Raining but not 27degrees. Cooking white beans and rice. This is why you save the Christmas ham bones! Peace and safe travels. Sean
15:00 That's right! It's going to be 21 years since I first visited Long Island sound(Orchard Beach The Bronx summer 2003) My favorite place on the East Coast My home away from home(Peruvian coast, Playa Venecia 🇵🇪⚓️🌊) Thank you for the great video!
Hi Guys. I met you at the boat show in Newport. Being so close to the war college we have some meetings/conventions that have dignitaries from all over the world. I think it was an event with all the governors of the United States when you there. Sometimes we r sailing just north of the Newport Bridge and will have to move due to training exercises etc. being conducted.
Like a grilled cheese sandwich with a bowl of warm tomato soup… I feel all snuggly and comfy after watching this episode. You both look almost as amazing as those sunsets, they were simple awe inspiring. Nothing better than when you two let your camera skills run free and there were so many little vignettes that stood out today. Loved the editing.
Beau looks like Nanuck of the North. In my younger days I spent many hours on the Sound. The Race is known for great fishing due the strong currents. Summers were spent in Branford Harbor. The Thimble Island are worth visiting, tricky no navigate, but fun to tour. Happy sailing. Thanks guys😊
That was great filming and editing!! It'll be fun and rolly, with all the traffic in the bay. I remember watching Uma anchor out by the statue of liberty and the multiply ferries going by during the day.
As a native Rhody who now lives in Alaska it was fun to see the bays shoreline which I have nearly circumnavigated in a kayak. Definitely one of the best bays in the world. BTW, most people do not know that Rhode Island and New York share a common border that you passed heading into Long Island Sound. When was episode taking place? I also liked beau's Berber look all bundled up.
I think that’s one of our favorite parts about traveling learning more about the places we visit. This was in October. We are behind bc we had so much footage of this trip up north.
65 degrees! That’s what my air conditioner is set at!! You guys should have continued East into Buzzards Bay then thru the Cape Cod Canal. Great part of the world. Sail on… good luck.😊
You got to love it when you pull into some place and you find out that you aren't important enough to go there. Hate it when that happens! You should have told them that you are TH-cam movie stars! 😊
A very nice and relaxing video. That one sunset was just stunning. I enjoyed the blue eyed black hooded skipper. 😅 I would really enjoy a short update video about where you are at. Until next time be safe but have fun. ⛵🇺🇸
I don't know about you Beau. You suppose to be a Bo Buck. You are a young tough dude. All bundled up like Bo Doe. Lol. Love the show and the channel buddy keep up the good work
Helped bring a friend's boat up from Norwalk, CT to RI with the current against us the whole time. We motored the whole way for 2 days. Next episode will take you through Hell Gate, which should be fun without an engine.
I guess I'm allergic to big cities. We sailed our Watkins 27 from just south of Annapolis to Booth Bay Harbor, Maine in the summer of '22 (and back). The trip through NYC on the East River was my least favorite part. We stayed in port Washington for several nights also. It's a common-sense anchorage after transiting the East River, east-bound.
honestly we thought the same, but something took ahold of us when we sailed through the east river. one of our most fun rides... but we still love the BIG BLUE sailing over big cities.
Love Manhasset Bay. Enjoy hells gate! Be sure to not bicker and to point where you want the boat to go. There can be some big boils in there, even at the best of times. I've seen boats going backwards and in circles... Yall are probably already through though :D how far behind are the vids?

Lol I will go with sixty degrees it's chilly. I live in south florida right off of Like okachobee . Sixty five is not freezing I'm sure out in the boat though. With the wind hitting you it probably feels a lot colder that thal
Siwanoy is pronounced Sea-Wa-Noy. I grew up in New Rochelle, NY. which was settled on the shore of Log Island Sound which was part of the pathway used by the Siwanoy Indians.
I love this. I know this video is a while back. Meanwhile - it was 43* in FL last week and, as a FL native, I did NOT sign up for that. Hubs is from Boston so he loves it You want 43* or 72* and sunny in the Winter?? Fight me. 😂 "It'll be fiinnne". lol Love you two.
Never tell Beau any of your secrets. When is the video of the new boat coming out? We all know on TH-cam, that is why you are sailing North. I'm guessing a 40 ft. Pearson.😀
Could you explain how you make up your bed between the P&S settees? We are on our Pearson 367 and as of now we sleep on the settees.Would like to get back being beside each other. Our Vberth is our garage. Thanks and we really enjoyed your channel.
we have a removeable stool that we insert to the port settee which makes a C with the settee and the forward bulkhead seat. we then can lower the table down and the cushion along the forward bulkhead lays on top of that. then the starboard settee pulls out. our whole salon is then one big settee. we then put our foam mattress on top to make it extra comfy.
ugh we just notice this...dang it. we switched between programs and in the conversion it screwed it up. thanks for pointing it out so we can make sure it doesn't happen again.

Enjoy the silence content, but missing anything from your “pitstops“. Two days in Connecticut and nothing about it you can share? Maybe just a few quick shots and your take on the vibe.
I'm new here. My suggestion - take a couple years off, earn some bread and purchase a catamaran. Those cat boats look to be the way to go instead of beating yourselves to death on your current ship. Just a suggestion.

So happy we are in good company! not all of us can handle the frigid temps of 65 LOL
What a wonderfup issue. Thank you for including us in your sunset. Cheers

The music and pacing so relaxing and just what I needed this morning. Can't get enough of hearing the water move past Saoirse.

Funny guys!! 65F is 18Celcius which is basically summer weather up here in Finland. 😂🤗 Stay warm!!
Right before Beau put the "noodles" in the pot, I looked at scott and said "They're crunchy"; then Beau said it, then Brandy. Lol! Safe travels!!
🤣😂
You must have had a submarine nearby. There is a base nearby. That is probably why the area was kept clear.
The city and the moon looked amazing in that last scene! 🤗💞
it was unreal!! what a teaser on sailing into the city!!
