You provided EXACTLY what others are trying to explain for years.
Sailing is NOT complicated, does NOT need hugely expensive boats, and with the right basic mindset
everyone can do this without all that nonsense, overcomplicated "nautical" nonsense of names, words, and terms.
Your video is one of a few TRUE videos here on TH-cam.
    Well done, mate.
    You just made history.
Safe travels and always fair winds ❤❤❤❤

I admire you for going beyond your comfort zone and making your dreams happen !
Yes it's easy to see what you are doing wrong but what's more important you are recognising those things too ! There's a lot to learn and you need time but you are doing what it takes, it's just one step at a time.
Exhaustion comes from exposure to the elements, from concentration and your mind running wild trying to adapt, understand, remember what you have read and been told and from the total sensory overload, it is also because you are fighting against the movement of the boat and over correcting your balance, and possibly from not eating enough before you started, it all gets easier in time.
So where were you sitting at the beginning and end of the video, looks like a B&B or something ?

Some fluffy fabric will do miracles, or spend a fortune on the professional thing. But please DO something about it, most sailing video's are BEEEEEEP quality.

Sailing is tiring for sure, especially when beating in confused seas like you were there. It still takes us three tries to pick up a morning ball, and that's with two people on deck! And your instincts are good. Putting up the minimum sail to get the job done is the safest and puts the least strain on the rigging. Congrats on a very successful first sail!

    Love this.
Sad you're leaving Sussex. But good going.
Brilliantly adventurous, and concealing (hardly) your delight at actually being out there.
No bullshit, no Henri Lloyd £400 offshore fashion.
You have a boat and you're sailing with a massive smile.
A bit of stress with anchorage, but that's surely to be expected.
"Not graceful" is a wee understatement...
So looking forward to your ongoing journey.
Sunscreen and a brimmed hat essential...
    Video and audio quality great.

Hey my biggest buddy Bumbles --- Your wind vane is called a MARK 1
It was designed by a guy in Newfoundland and was a common self made unit.
    They actually work ok
You'll want to add a little more weight to the Counter Balance and increase the WIND PADDLE surface area by about 20%.
I've seen others make an Add On piece for the paddle so in lighter winds it works better and then can be removed in heavier weather.
Make sure you use a pulley type block for the adjustment line to rudder and keep it " tight "
It works great and for a budget unit where others are spending $4000+ on Monitor or other types it is priceless. The Raymarine ST-2000 is a good electric backup unit to have on your vessel. You SHOULD write in to Raymarine and apply for an Ambassadorship with them. FREE GEAR BRO !!!!
I was on their team for 4 years and they hooked me up Fancy Pants Good !!
Anyways. Keep up the Videos , your looking great Bro !!
Cheers & Beers & BBQ Steers

PS .. when trying to catch a mooring ball.
calculate the wind and drift. Cut off the motor and DRIFT into it.

To think its only since last September when your first video appeared and how much you have done and now your living your dream what you have achieved is incredible😊 , One way I pick up a mooring buoy is to run a rope from the bow cleat back to the cockpit then lean out grab the buoy clip the rope on to ( at least your connected to it ) it then as the boat drifts astern of it hop up to the bow and pull in the rope along with the buoy and moor off to it.

Ur being a bit modest I think, nav ok, seamanship getting there...its looking good. Old school rough and ready sailing, great stuff.

The first time you catch wind, and feel that pull is magic. I've driven Ferrari , Lamborghini, Astons and all kinds of American muscle with my work - and they are all distant second to that feeling of catching the wind. Working to keep it trimmed - so much more than sitting on your duff letting an engine do the work.

The sea always looks flatter on video! I've been in seas big enough that I surfed a 60' schooner - on video the sea looked like a nice day at the beach! Awesome work mate!

Main up pointing into wind with engine on, then set your desired course, then set sail ( adjust)
