Hello Everyone. Thank you for coming on the journey of me making this old UFO into a finished quit. Making the VLOG was hard but making the quilt was a joy. Once that binding went on, the quilt showed it's true beauty and is now a favourite thing.
I think the quilt is gorgeous, and I love that line of fabrics. I enjoyed your vlog very much, and I'm highly impressed by you using up so many scraps. I made a scrappy back recently, and although it came out very nice, I couldn't help thinking, "That was way too much trouble. I should have just bought more fabric for the back!" But using up leftovers is still so satisfying! Mixed feelings.
As I write this I am on a timed rest break on a mammoth " getting control of my fabrics, patterns, ufos, notions" and "Finding the top of the spare room bedspread " it is under here someplace. Donation boxes organization marker for desternations, guild groups, Humane Society Donation centers etc. This is day 3....Motivation: Your after quilt Vlog was perfect timing---Great- along with my mantra ****, LeAnn my niece would re-kill me if I left this earth and she had to face this mess. So far so good...No future fabric purchases till ufos completed. FYI using super size Hefty bags for uniform organization. Oops, buzzer just beeped...
You're so critical of your vlogging. My attention is held from beginning to end. I know this is from last year but I watched it several times and each time I get inspired!
Don't worry about the "other moments" you didn't put in the VLOG....those are the wasted moments that make me move on to other videos. Your VLOG got right down to business and I stayed interested. Right on point. Stay with it and stay true to yourself! Love it!
jojo383, I'm the same way. I don't care if someone is drinking coffee, but why waste time watching them pour it, or move from room to room. I want to get right into seeing the action and reason for a video. Karen, your video was great and I enjoyed watching it. I don't use a second quilt to back a top, as I'm a hand quilter. But I do frequently have extra blocks and/or scraps that will end up in another quilt. Keep the videos coming. Interesting ideas and great humor.
I was going to say the same thing! When I have to watch them coming down the stairs or moving from room to room or pouring coffee I just skip onto the next video that actually shows me what I’m looking for without all the other BS. Keep doing it the way you’re doing it 😊
I think you did a very good vlog-job. I dont miss seeing you drive the car, pouring the coffee, telling about everything not to do with the topic, because it bores me to death. You were just a perfect vlogger. Dont be like the others! it is you we love to hear talking about quilts and the things about us as quilters. IT IS YOU WE LOVE - or we did not follow you. Pia from Denmark - who also loves your energy!
Pip fugl Me too! I hate those cinematic cliches! I did love it when you showed us how you made a mistake (can‘t remember which video now...) went into slomo and said fuuudge real slow. That was a keeper and I pretend to do that now when I make a mistake! How‘s Fräulein Bernina machine? Is she all better?
I just came across your channel and I must say I agree with everything I have read in the comments. As a newish quilter, we need to see reality not "fluff". I love how it did not come easy to you; that you struggled just as we do. You are perfect the way you are! Your videos are perfect the way they are! As a very smart person once said, "To thine own self be true." {{hugs}}
I have watched you do so many quilts and scrappy blocks, and must say, I would Never have your energy, therefore, you have convinced me to keep my life simple and just stick to making blocks, and then continue to sell or give them to dedicated quilters. I am now saving them up to donate a bunch to Quilts of Valore and hoping someone sends me a pic of what they come up with. I admire your dedication and energy, just wish my health would cooperate. Thanks for your time and your skill at teaching. Enjoy your videos.
I am so much more interested in your processes then the "cinematic moments." So many beginner quilters bite off more then they can chew and the quilting process loses it's joy. What I love so much about your tutorials is how you offer loving common sense advice that reminds people to let go of the idea that the project has to perfect because nothing in nature is perfect. So I am going to try and mirror the advice I have taken from you and say keep experimenting with your vlogging journey but keep to your own instincts and inspirations instead of trying to follow someone else's path. After all, walking in someone else's shoes will only give you sore feet.
oh my goodness, shalene is SO RIGHT. i really dont need cinematic moments and actually turn off quilting videos that do that; i want to learn. so please dont change your style which is very straight forward and concise.
I also like the faster pace and lack of cinematic moments. I find all those fillers to be boring time wasters. People who chat off subject also lose me fast! Keep up with your own style!
What an encouraging video! Thank you!! Your practicality really helps me. What I like about your channel is you stuck to the subject. Straightforward, sensible, utilitarian, good humored. Even if you can become brilliant at filming/editing pouring coffee and showing your hardwood floors, please DON'T DO IT! When other people do that, I fast forward or stop watching. Now an occasional glimpse of the yard with snow or flowers, a glimpse of a pet is fine. Your little snowy road scene and the glimpse of town was interesting and unique. Most important it was short. But every cup of coffee, every snack, and every hardwood floor is the same in every Vlog.
Absolutely!!!! I watch Karen precisely BECAUSE she is straightforward and practical, and at the same time humourous and encouraging. I want to watch and learn quilting techniques. If anything is going to be slow-motion is should be tips/tricks or technique so that we have more time to see and absorb it. I have stopped watching most quilters because they have way to much other stuff in their videos.
@@trinam2503 I have unsubscribed from people I normally liked because as they got more subs & popularity, they started lighting candles and pouring tea. If this is how Skillshare teaches women to be "better" youtubers then forget it.
"Done is better than perfect." Angela Walters (The Midnight Quilt Show) changed my world when she said, "If you can't see it from a speeding horse, it's okay." These kind of statements truly help me let go of the perfection anxiety! Thanks, again!
I suffer perfection anxiety and never start projects as they are never going to be as good I want them to be . Hence so many UFOs . I liked the done is better than perfect . X
I have watched lots and lots of quilt channels on TH-cam. I never finished any of my projects until I started watching "Just Ger It Done" Quilts!!!! Really, I wouldn't change a single thing!!
I like the genuine vlog, I usually skip those vlogs with all the extra "stuff" with three kids around, I like the get to the point vlog way better. Keeping it simple is better and genuine.
Karen....I watched this when you first made it and again now - Sept 4, 2023.....I listened and watched as I sewed and it was perfect! No fake "perfect coffee pour". I like the after quilt better too! :)
I fast forward through the "cinematic moments". I like the succinctness of your videos. After 55 years of sewing, I made my first quilt after watching Just Get It Done videos. I think it was the methodical, step by step way the process was presented that made a big job feel doable. I have now made 14 quilts in 5 months but wouldn't have taken the first step if it weren't for how the process was broken down in your videos. Thank you, Karen! I like your style.
My goals this year are to organise a project folder, finish the ufo's and turn the scrap boxes into finished quilts... Without buying more fabric than necessary... Love your vids! Thank you for the inspiration! Stay safe!
+1 on what Hope said-- I'm all for the occasional artistic flourish, but I'm coming here for the rich detail and education you bring to your viewers. Also, I've been sewing for most of my life, but I'm just getting back to it, so you're a boost even to someone who has done these things. Keep going in the direction you are, and keep the filler flourishes to a minimum. Remember that just because an editing method appears to be a trend on a lot of popular videos doesn't necessarily mean that those methods appeal to YOUR viewership. Thank you for all your inspiring work.
I enjoyed your vlog and thought you did a great job. I'm a true beginner at quilting and like your straight forward, practical style of instruction. Please stay "real" and don't fret about slow mo and fake stuff when you vlog :)
Please don't do slow motion! You have so much info to share about quilting, color, tips, etc, and slo mo would make me have to fast forward thru the, sorry, crap!
I adore your style, and agree that I enjoy the back of the quilt more than the front. I've only just learned to sew on my grandmother's equipment, inherited a decade ago. (Thank you, Ye Olde Plague, for this new hobby of making all the things.) When going through her fabric, I found a million and one batiks I am not super fond of--I really like being able to tell right side from wrong side--so I've been using them as practice. No rhyme, no reason, just cut and sew until it looks "rightish." Eventually I'll have something whole and not a box of blocks, and I can already hear my mom sobbing. I was named after her mother, and here I am going through her stash while trying to figure some more personal things out. She's so excited there is no way the final result will have an ounce of surprise to it. : )
What I love about your vlogs is the concept of "just get it done". Personally I don't have time for fluff. I need information and ideas quickly which is why I no longer watch Facebook live or many other vlogs. Just Get It Done has been great with precisely quick informative videos.
Just now got a chance to watch this and was glad I read all the comments because that’s just what I was going to tell you. I watch to see you quilt and I get inspired with every video. I hate the videos that have a long flowery intro only to watch someone walk in slo-mo through their perfect kitchen to pour a cup of coffee and drink slow sips while staring out the window. Then they tell me all about their week. Wasting my time! I choose videos for a very specific reason - how to cook a specific recipe, crochet a new pattern, make a fairy doll, put together a quilt (I have a lot of hobbies - don’t judge!!) I love your kind of videos that get right to the point. Please don’t change your style!
I just watched this for a second time, and I have to say, you need to stay true to yourself. Yes, I understand shooting for a goal, learning and improving, etc, but you already have a great style. One shot of pouring coffee is enough cinema for me! 😁 I feel like this vlog has a perfectly balanced, Karen-amount of in-the-moment and voice over. It was great, and the finished quilt is fabulous!!!
Just watched this 2nd time around too and reflect on my own quilting journey progress in the last 6 to 12 months. Inspired largely by finding Just get it done channel
I absolutely agree. The shot of coffee was an amusement and enough to make a visual break in the staring at fabric. I love your videos. I stay engaged. I follow your methods and meld them with my own.
Just get it done is your mantra and passion. Many of us who watch your vlogs feel the same way. Putting fluffy stuff into your videos is an unnecessary time filler. I would much rather stay on track so I too can just get it done. I like to get as much from your videos as possible. 😉
Keren, I thought your vlog was great. Those "cinematic" moments bore me. I really enjoyed your whole process because it was straight forward, practical and comical too. You have a great attitude about getting those scraps used up! Your quilt (both sides) turned out beautifully.
Karen, please don't be so hard on yourself! One of the reasons I love your TH-cam channel so much is your authenticity. I feel like you're just being yourself, and that's so refreshing. The coffee pours are nice, but I would prefer to see more shots of you peeking into the camera that isn't placed for a head shot (like when you lean over the ironing board). Those always make me smile and it shows your character. I follow a couple channels where the TH-camr tries to make every shot "Instagram-worthy" but those are so staged, I don't enjoy them. It's too fake. Please keep being you... You're doing an amazing job!
This was a wonderful video to show process. I would not worry about the "cinematic moments" when you have such gems of wisdom. Like, improvising a quilt takes a different brain set from careful piecing. I have been quilting for 27 years now, and that is an awesome insight! Enjoyed your quilt. Now I will try it with African fabrics in my stash.
I enjoyed this vlog for numerous reasons. I love the original quilt, I love the process you showed us of making the after quilt. I love the fact you let us into your brain a bit with your explanations of what you are thinking. And as much as I loved all the quilt related content, I think I actually enjoyed watching your first vlog attempt more. There is just something so endearing and genuine about you and willingness to take your viewers along your journey of learning.
Hi Karen, and a "Well done to you". It turned out beautifully; there were a couple of times when I thought "that's not going to fly" but it's a lovely quilt. I would gladly display that in my home. As far as vloging, baby steps; it's not worth stressing over. I always enjoy watching you. As a novice quilter, I've stuck with your simple and clear direction. Thank you!
you are amazing! I am having the best time watching all your videos. You have such a great delivery...and you are so honest. I am 62 and I have been sewing 50 years but very few quilts. I may just have to get started with quilting again! Thank you!
Love the way you did your Vlog just fine. Really. And, despite your criticisms of your own technique, what I like the results you show throughout your video. It helps keep the video within watching limits (yes, we all have attention limits, so you did that great!). And, let me comment on your work! You made a lovely "after quilt." I agree. I, too, like it even better than the front of the quilt! You can see what work and thought you put into the back of the quilt that shows YOUR personality more than the front which is formal and beautiful but sort of static looking. The after quilt looks more real and dynamic (like YOU!).
No one cares about your coffee and slo mo being cinematic - we love you cause you are real - the coffee pour in this video looks like I am there with you in your kitchen - personally, I think other vloggers could take a lesson from YOU. Also - not sure who watches all those cinematic ones - but us quilters, we are here to sew, learn, identify with the issues, challenges, engage with another REAL quilter. You are my favorite!
After my sister found you about a year ago, I've watched a few here and there, and just recently became aware that, of the 6 or 7 vloggers I watch regularly, you have the most subscribers. I've been knitting instead of quilting the past couple years, but every time I go into my sewing room, I want to sit down and play. I agree that experienced vloggers DO make it interesting with cinematic details, but I love the way you can be real with your viewers and just share your challenges and the processes. It was fun to see how your mind worked out the details of this quilt. I didn't realize you were doing the back of your original quilt till the very end. What a very clever thing to do. You've certainly tempted me back to the sewing room. I have two Berninas in there (one for visitors), and just walking in makes me happy, though I'm taking your 30 day clean up challenge right now, so the clutter isn't so distracting. (Jan 2022)
Oh my Gosh! Here I was thinking (as the video started) how much I LOVE your style of just getting down to the business of what you are going to do by simply doing it. VS wasting time (as so many other video people do by blabbing about nothing for a long time and then they do the project). I am afraid if you add in coffee time and stair walking time........ Things are perfect with the non -VLOG videos(my vote). I never heard of a VLOG and did not know what that was. This quilt video is SO fantastic. To see the squares go onto the design wall and hear you talk about what you are doing was really exciting. I have yet to use my design wall and do an after-quilt (or anything 'design' at all). Now I see how you do this. It was really inspiring! I was on the edge of my seat with excitement. Both sides are equally BEAUTIFUL! How amazing! Thank you so much!
HA! I thought you were vlogging all along already? Thats how much I know! You do terrific. Concentrate on the quilting, thats what we love you /need you for.
I think you explained just what you were doing very well. You were trying to show your process and your reasoning regarding certain design decisions. Don't be hard on yourself at all. This was easy to watch, and to the point. A lot of information. A successful conclusion to two daunting tasks: the quilt and the Vlog. You have an elegant speaking voice and your delivery is clear. So what's not to like? Congratulations!
Great video! I loved this vlog because it seemed very “you”! I’m here for your specific brand of straight talk, wisdom and get-it-done mentality. I find it hugely inspiring! And this one was perfect. 🤗
Please don't "improve" your vlog. There's nothing wrong with it the way it is. You're fun to watch and very interesting. All that 'pouring the coffee' is unnecessary fluff. You're doing just fine and for what it's worth, I'm happy here.
Karen I have to tell you, I love your show and I wouldn't change a thing!! I don't watch it for things like coffee cup walking etc lol I watch it for the encouragement, education and the beautiful quilts you make!! Just saying!!!! :) And also, wow what a project!!!
I love it when i see some of the sewing and hear the sound of the machine. The video is about quilting after all. But I don’t need the cool coffee slow motion shots. I find I watch TH-cam videos that get to the point. Do them if you feel like it (it’s always fun to experiment) but don’t think your videos are less interesting or ‘cool’ without them.
Sigh, I will never get to that level, but it was still very much fun to watch this. What a giant work you did here. I like the front better, but that's of no importance. It is a beautiful quilt. Thank you for sharing your process. Never mind cinematic effects, this was good as you did it.
I watch for your encouragement, organization, and enthusiasm, I really don’t watch for your coffee pouring skills. Loved the video and look forward to the next, and the idea you found sometime in the future.
I have only been making quilts seriously for about a year now.......I can’t help but get ideas for a quilt while working on a quilt.....my mind just can’t stay focused on one quilt at a time. As soon as I put the last hand stitch in the quilt I’m working on, I can’t wait to get started on that one that popped up in my mind while I was working on the one I just finished. If I live to be a hundred, ( which I know is not going to happen ), I will still have designs of my next quilt in my brain. It’s so nice to see others that have that fast moving brain like myself....Although it can be a blessing and a curse. Thanks Karen for sharing your experiences with us.
my quilt guild proved to be worthless as a new sewer.....so I am so happy with your videos...they have helped me with my beginning sewing/quilting thank you
It looks incredible, I can't believe it's the back. I enjoyed watching the process of you thinking it out, I thought you did a great job with your vlogging. We already know how to pour coffee, we are learning quilting.
Done is better than perfect... I LOVE that! I'm going to put that on the wall in my craft room for inspiration! I know NOTHING about piecing quilts, but after my mom died, I inherited her precious stash of quilt fabrics, about half of which is scraps. My mission is to piece tops for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. I'm learning lots of great tips from your vids, thanks a lot.
Great vlog! I too dislike the wasted time of watching someone walk around or pour coffee or meditate with indecision. (We won't mention any names.). And, speeding up the driving and sewing was great fun. Do not, please, change your style. It is one of the things I like about your videos. After all that work, I think you should have made a second quilt out of it. Really liked it. Thanks, Virginia in Ohio
I absolutely LOVE your channel and tutorials! Your "stash busting" tutorials especially are helping me tackle my own "Mount Scrap-more". Why you would want to change your style of presentation is beyond me! Speaking of style, I also LOVE your new haircut! Those "cinematic moments"to me are for those people who really have nothing useful to say. Truly, keep doing what you've been doing - your authenticity is the best cinematic moment, in my opinion.
I agree with a lot of the comments. I watch you for your knowledge and ideas, not for watching you pour coffee. If it is important to you to accomplish being a better vlogger...go for it. If not, that's fine too. Either way, I will be watching and learning from you. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful. You’re such a great inspiration. Absolutely love your videos. Iv learned so much you. Wish I had seen your videos before I over bought my fabrics! Thank you sooo much for all of your wonderful tips and tricks. I’m 80 years old and hope I’ll have enough time to make many quilts. Love your after quilts and baby quilts. I’ve had the slumps you talk about regarding not being able to sew for periods of time. You have helped me with that and I don’t feel Quilty anymore Thank you very much for sharing everything with us Mary Lou 😊❤️
I never ever let go of big ideas. I just write them down in an extra large art journal. Sooner or later I get to them. I absolutely love all of your scarves and the fact that you actually wear them.
I love love love your videos!! Please don’t slow them down with extra stuff that doesn’t add to the quilting information. I have written an article about your web site and TH-cam videos for our guilds newsletter. One of the great things along with all the wonderful information and inspiration, is you don’t waste our time with superfluous stuff. Keep up the great work. Thanks.
Your vlog was perfect. I don't think anyone, least of all me, wants anymore 'slick, smart alec' videos where people are more concerned with presenting their narcissistic selves - There's enough of those on youtube. LOL!!! You are real and a wonderful tutor. Don't change! (Sorry for the rant)
I have gotten into the habit of using extra blocks or making a few extra blocks from the leftovers on my quilt back, but never this intricate. I love it. I was doing it in order to 'stretch' a piece of backing fabric to be big enough by adding that extra width or length needed. I cut the backing fabric I have into four unequal 'quarters' and add the strips and blocks in between. I like off center like that best so there is no need to perfectly center the back blocks on the quilting machine. I also make sure that no whole blocks go right to the quilt back edges so there is no half block cut off.
I loved the vlog! Remember you always say, it is better done than perfect. Same with your vlog. I felt like I was right there with you! Thank you SEW much for your videos! You find fun & frustration in quilting...just like we all do! But for some reason we love every bit of it! Stay safe & well my friend!
Believe it or not I am behind on watching all my quilt tutorials!! I am so glad I watched this one now, as I have made a small mound of different UFO's to point of completion. Yay! I want to have all of my UFO's finished this year! Don't we all? I am not getting younger and I have several family members that don't have an Auntie Zoe quilt. (Great nieces and nephews) I LOVE the back quilt!! You have NO IDEA how much I needed this as I have a box of this and that blocks! I will post a picture to you when I put them together. I just love you Karen! I smile through all of your ideas, projects, etc. It is like you have been peeking into my sewing room!
Having taken an improv course recently, it's fair to say that most of the energy goes into figuring out how to turn that creative use of scrap fabric into a traditionally created block, within a basic traditional pattern, with basic fabric that can help tie it all together. Whoa! That means going from convergent to divergent thinking and switching back and forth to use the parts of the brain to do so. Of course your head hurts! When I finished my improv quilt top, I had to walk away from it for a few days before creating a plain back. So kudos to you for working straight through on this vlog and quilt. What you gave us viewers is validation for our struggle and validating it as a normal part of process. Thanks!
Im with you on the back. I like it best. lol. I am working on a quilt that I started 8 years ago during a VERY stressful time in my life. I put it away and did not get back to it or any other project till now. Again during a stressful time. It is KING! size. I decided to finish it and give it to my youngest son as a wedding gift. We are Irish so I wanted to make it as a life n death quilt. Lessons learned.. 1... I CANNOT! do random 2...1 1/2 inch squares for nine patch blocks are too small for a king quilt 3... I cant get it finished by wedding in August hand quilting and I SUCK! as a machine quilter 4..I WILL! finish it some how some way by the wedding and probably just buy a gift for him and use this in our camper as a pick nick blanket.
I can imagine the feeling that washed over you when you put the last stitches in the after quilt, quilting process and finally the binding 😊😊😊 What an amazing accomplishment ✅ You should be so proud! Thank you for documenting it all for us to watch. The energy is filtering out and inspiring me to keep going on my WIP’s.
I’m overcome with joy and excitement of the design you came up with and this is indeed a learning video showing us exactly how to create a backing for your quilt using scraps you have and not having to spend more money for more fabric to get it done.😃😍🤩. I think this would make a perfect Vlog (Please) 😊😊😊
First of all, I love your Vlog because it's authentically you. It doesn't need to be slick and sophisticated (most of us quilters aren't anyway!) When you put the blocks on point initially I thought you were making way too much work for yourself but they do make a fabulous focal point. I really enjoy improv or slab style piecing where I grab two scraps, sew them together, trim one straight edge and add another piece to that. My brain keeps firing the whole time as I like doing puzzles and I get to keep making decisions throughout the process. I try to stick to one hue at a time as they are visually interesting anyway without throwing in tons of different hues. I also like string piecing on foundations. Great for outreach quilts. Thanks so much for all you share with us.
Hello Everyone. Thank you for coming on the journey of me making this old UFO into a finished quit. Making the VLOG was hard but making the quilt was a joy. Once that binding went on, the quilt showed it's true beauty and is now a favourite thing.
I bought Gemoloy as you suggested. When are you going to start classes?
I think the quilt is gorgeous, and I love that line of fabrics. I enjoyed your vlog very much, and I'm highly impressed by you using up so many scraps. I made a scrappy back recently, and although it came out very nice, I couldn't help thinking, "That was way too much trouble. I should have just bought more fabric for the back!" But using up leftovers is still so satisfying! Mixed feelings.
I loved the journey. You're AMAZING! I never would have imagined that those scraps would make such a beautiful afterquilt. Thank you for sharing.
Great job on your quilt and after quilt! It’s (they’re?) beautiful!

I'm a film student who loves sewing and your video is enough. It has all we need, not the coffee and slow motion, but the information.
Thank you
You're so critical of your vlogging. My attention is held from beginning to end. I know this is from last year but I watched it several times and each time I get inspired!

I totally agree.
jojo383 I agree too. I don’t need to see someone pour a drink. I am watching to learn the skill.
I agree

You did a great job! Forget the coffee and the sashay down the stairs...just keep up doing what you do best- creating beautiful quilts

Couldn't agree more
Don't need to learn more vlogging cinematography...this was just right...a natural you.

People recording while in cars is bizarre to me!!!! People quilting .....that I love!!!
Vlog your own way - you be you. Love watching your videos so much! Keep up the great work!

There’s nothing wrong with this blog. I feel your energy and love that you’re real! Keep it up. I enjoy your style.
thx
I agree, I'm always watching TH-cam at double speed and I find all the coffee pouring etc, annoying and a waste of my time. x
A agree. Honestly the cinematic cuts in blogs always pull me out of it...I liked how this stayed on topic the whole time.
I agree. The “cinematic shots” are annoying to me.
Hello Ann-Marie....I would like to get to know you more better if you don’t mind?
Great video. Now I realize my pondering the project is normal. Hahaha!
I have watched lots and lots of quilt channels on TH-cam. I never finished any of my projects until I started watching "Just Ger It Done" Quilts!!!! Really, I wouldn't change a single thing!!
Well...my work is done then. Thank you. 😊
I admire how you pushed yourself within reason to finish this quilt! It is a masterpiece! Bravo!!!
I like the genuine vlog, I usually skip those vlogs with all the extra "stuff" with three kids around, I like the get to the point vlog way better. Keeping it simple is better and genuine.
The reason I love your videos is because you keep it to the point WITHOUT all that coffee pouring and chat.
Don't be other vlogers. Just be you. I loved it! ❤
Well done. Like the quilt back and vlog. Focus on the quilting process, I can pour my own coffee.
I don't even drink coffee so no pouring is needed.
Hope Corrigan, hear! Hear!
Well said
My goals this year are to organise a project folder, finish the ufo's and turn the scrap boxes into finished quilts...
WOW! Hardly any scraps left! That is really awesome!
@@kathymandy39 True! I can "slo mo" in the video settings when I need a better view.
I adore your style, and agree that I enjoy the back of the quilt more than the front.
I've only just learned to sew on my grandmother's equipment, inherited a decade ago.
(Thank you, Ye Olde Plague, for this new hobby of making all the things.)
When going through her fabric, I found a million and one batiks I am not super fond of--I really like being able to tell right side from wrong side--so I've been using them as practice. No rhyme, no reason, just cut and sew until it looks "rightish."
Eventually I'll have something whole and not a box of blocks, and I can already hear my mom sobbing.
Thank you
Just now got a chance to watch this and was glad I read all the comments because that’s just what I was going to tell you.
Hello Tammy.....I would like to get to know you more better if you don’t mind?
I absolutely agree. The shot of coffee was an amusement and enough to make a visual break in the staring at fabric. I love your videos. I stay engaged. I follow your methods and meld them with my own.
this exactly ❤
Just get it done is your mantra and passion. Many of us who watch your vlogs feel the same way. Putting fluffy stuff into your videos is an unnecessary time filler. I would much rather stay on track so I too can just get it done. I like to get as much from your videos as possible. 😉
Keren,
I thought your vlog was great. Those "cinematic" moments bore me. I really enjoyed your whole process because it was straight forward, practical and comical too. You have a great attitude about getting those scraps used up! Your quilt (both sides) turned out beautifully.
Just love this idea to use fabrics just waiting to be celebrated!
That was a back of the quilt project? The entire quilt is amazing. Thanks for sharing your process.
I love your personality and spunk. Don't choice from your sense of humor. Love your work.
Remember we do this quilting because we enjoy it! Love the quilt.
Hello Mary....I would like to get to know you more better if you don’t mind?
Don't kick yourself!!!! You did great!!!!!!
I'm not a quilter, I can barely sew but I love your channel. You are so real, compared to other channels. Keep up the channel
I love your honesty and how you think. I love you being you!
Hello Stephanie....I would like to get to know you more better if you don’t mind?
Hi Karen, and a "Well done to you". It turned out beautifully; there were a couple of times when I thought "that's not going to fly" but it's a lovely quilt. I would gladly display that in my home. As far as vloging, baby steps; it's not worth stressing over. I always enjoy watching you. As a novice quilter, I've stuck with your simple and clear direction. Thank you!
Done goes for your vlogging too, doesn’t have to be perfect...I actually like how this rolled along
Rolled along....ha! Jk
Hello Kate....I would like to get to know you more better if you don’t mind?
@@charleneferguson9250 you took the time to post that jab,
you are amazing! I am having the best time watching all your videos. You have such a great delivery...and you are so honest. I am 62 and I have been sewing 50 years but very few quilts. I may just have to get started with quilting again! Thank you!
I don’t think you need to “follow” others vlogging techniques. The reason I love watching you is I love your style/technique! Keep it up! 💖
Hello Rebecca...I would like to get to know you more better if you don’t mind?
Love the way you did your Vlog just fine. Really. And, despite your criticisms of your own technique, what I like the results you show throughout your video. It helps keep the video within watching limits (yes, we all have attention limits, so you did that great!). And, let me comment on your work! You made a lovely "after quilt." I agree. I, too, like it even better than the front of the quilt! You can see what work and thought you put into the back of the quilt that shows YOUR personality more than the front which is formal and beautiful but sort of static looking. The after quilt looks more real and dynamic (like YOU!).
Wow! What an amazing after quilt! I think your new quilt should be worn often around your shoulders as a super hero cape!!
Thank you so much ❤️
My sentiments too!!! This was so "Karen"!
I so agree with this!!
My sentiments exactly, I was captivated for the whole time. 👌 perfect.
I wish my unfinished projects were only one year old! You don't need to get good at vlogging we like you just the way you are!
I have some older ones too...but I'm getting to the end.
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts I'm inspired!
My son is snuggling under it as I write. Thank you
I love it when i see some of the sewing and hear the sound of the machine. The video is about quilting after all. But I don’t need the cool coffee slow motion shots. I find I watch TH-cam videos that get to the point. Do them if you feel like it (it’s always fun to experiment) but don’t think your videos are less interesting or ‘cool’ without them.
Hello Manuela....I would like to get to know you more better if you don’t mind?
Sigh, I will never get to that level, but it was still very much fun to watch this. What a giant work you did here. I like the front better, but that's of no importance. It is a beautiful quilt. Thank you for sharing your process. Never mind cinematic effects, this was good as you did it.
I watch for your encouragement, organization, and enthusiasm, I really don’t watch for your coffee pouring skills. Loved the video and look forward to the next, and the idea you found sometime in the future.
Hello 👋

Me Too!!
What a wonderful project
I LOVED YOUR VLOG!!! Please just be your true self. That's why I love watching you. 😊
Thank you so much!!
Just trying to change it up. I always like a challenge
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts challenging yourself is always a good thing... just don't lose the aspects that are uniquely YOU for the sake of change.
I agree with a lot of the comments. I watch you for your knowledge and ideas, not for watching you pour coffee. If it is important to you to accomplish being a better vlogger...go for it. If not, that's fine too. Either way, I will be watching and learning from you. Thank you for sharing.
Always remember to do you. That’s why we love you.

I agree after three hours of making mistakes. Unless you look real close you really can't see the my error, at least not all the mistakes.
I appreciate your pragmatic approach. I didn't realize it was lacking cinematic moments.
Beautiful AfterQuilt! I love the color scheme. Now relax, you've done well.
Don’t worry about the arty coffee shots! I just love all your fabulous, warm and wonderful ideas and videos. Thank you. I look forward to every one.
I loved the vlog! Remember you always say, it is better done than perfect. Same with your vlog. I felt like I was right there with you! Thank you SEW much for your videos! I just love you Karen! I smile through all of your ideas, projects, etc. It is like you have been peeking into my sewing room!
I’m from Brazil! I love the way you are! So “human”! You show your mistakes and show what you have learned with them!
Hello Mary...I would like to get to know you more better if you don’t mind?
Love the shot of turning everything off!

Thank you for your honesty about the feelings and emotions that go into creativity!

Thank you
First of all, I love your Vlog because it's authentically you.
I agree. The mental exercise is half the fun
I enjoyed seeing your process. I like the focus of your videos. Don't worry about the cinematic moments.
