Great video - nice explanation of colours and why you use what you do, and the simplicity of the demo makes it easy to learn from it. You're a natural teacher.
Don't you just love the internet. I had never heard of Bevendean so thanks to Google I now do. What a lovely place. For an Aussie those green fields are amazing.
Hi from the US. This is a stunning painting. Thank you for sharing. I was mesmerized by you process... and your voice. very comforting. I'm subscribed and looking forward to new demos!
I have seen a green sky. Sailing from Antigua to Barbuda, the clouds above Barbuda reflect the colour of the sea, real aquamarine. The white birds also pick up the colour under their wings when the fly overhead. It's the way a lot of sailors used to find the island as it's so flat and difficult to see from miles away.
Saw this video today and I'm impressed by the beauty of this painting as well as by your skill. I subscribed and will see everything that you make from now on. THanks for uploading it and for all the explaining you did.
Super Tony, well done you've convinced me to visit oil where i started and teacher often told me off for doing a Ala-primal, think that spelling is or isn't right, went straight to watercolor, as i was very inpatient she said good job i like it a lot. William
As a beginner I enjoyed you going over the brands and colors at the beginning. I'm waiting on some Georgian paints to arrive and have been looking for people that use them. thanks!
Love your style Tony to me your paintings are instantly recognisable by the darks you use . I actually had someone argue the toss with me on a forum about green skies , ! I might have a go at this one and see if it looks anything like I doubt it lol
Glyn Whiting Yeah im self taught but i met Warwick and John Wilson and done a workshop awhile back. I've started my own youtube channel painting and if it wasn't for Warwick n John i wouldn't be painting i dont think. They have inspired me so much. Happy Painting Mate🎨👍
Brilliant video Tony, one of the best of the many I've seen over the last couple of years - thank you! Can I just ask what you were using as a thinner please? I've only recently started dabbling with oils but am still a tad confused about some of the thinners and mediums etc. Many thanks.
You suggested we watch the value videos of an artist. I can't make out the name. Can you please reply here. I would like to find those. I like your work and will be watching your other videis. Thanks
Rich Capo I would always advocate having the fewest colours you can get away with on your palate. If you’ve got a yellow that is already working for you then just play around with a palette knife and mix what you need. If you aren’t getting the colour you need consistently then that is the time to go and buy a new tube to experiment with.
Hi Tony. I have Bryan Ryder's videos too; but I am wondering about the polyfilla mix. Like plaster of Paris, it sets hard, and I am unsure about this for a painting ground. Is it likely to crack over time. I use 'whiting'. which is more like French Chalk. It's inert, but too much of that and it soaks the solvent out of the oils very quickly. Makes it good for alla prima work. I have even used cheap talcum powder from places like the Pound shops. Smells lovely, of course, but it soon fades when the turps gets at it. This is a painting I would find challenging. I am no trained artist, so I avoid too much perspective, as I get lost. But I like it, and wish I could do it! One day I might concentrate on downhill aspects. Incidentally, have you never seen the 'green flash' over the sea, at sunset? And there's plenty of green in the sky when you see the aurora-borealis! . Cheers. John in Brum
Brent Birney Colley Whisson. Google is your friend. Amazing painter. One of the best in dealing with light I’ve ever seen. He has a TH-cam channel too. www.colleywhisson.com/paintings/
I like it when you talked to yourself from time to time softly. I do the same thing when I work or paint. Thank you for sharing.
OMG! There's talent and there's TALENT! Fantastic!!!!
I like watching you work it out! And I was heartened to hear you mention Colley Wisson as I admire his sutle use of colour.
Great video - nice explanation of colours and why you use what you do, and the simplicity of the demo makes it easy to learn from it. You're a natural teacher.
Awesome work. I learn something new with every video. We do see green skies in the Midwest of the US. When the skies turn green, tornados are brewing.

Would really have liked to see the photo you were working from.

26:03 "values do all the work, colors get all the credits" HAHA!

Green skies are also reasonably common during a storm often accompanied by a tornado. It has to do with the angle of the Sun and moisture in the air.

Brilliant demo, I like your style.

impressive work👍👍❤❤
From muddy scribbles to a scene of beauty...magic.
exceptionally good demonstration Tony - minimum colours making excellent values creating your art work full of colour and light. Thanks
Good explanations...I'm in the middle of watching and would like to view the drone reference photo
Beautiful landscape, well done 😎👍🏿
Beautiful work, excellent demo looking forward to your next video.
Pretty sassy picture and wonderful!
Fascinating stuff. You have very different brains, you artist types.
I so badly wanted to see your reference photo....
Really nice work.

Tornado weather can become greenish. It's wild to see. It also isn't common.
good job!
Wonderful, thank you.
If you would put your reference near your work it would make a lot more sense as to where exactly you are going.
A video that is meant to be instructive must show the reference !
It's telling that you got no response to your comment.
Very, very nice!
I wish you could include your reference photo, so we can see what you are looking at.
Beautiful
Wow 🥂🍾👏👏👏
Great use of tonal values. Colley Whisson is dead right. I'm working on using more flat brushes and getting looser. Nice job Tony.
Glyn Whiting Im self taught but i got a dvd off Colley when i was learning to paint over 13 year's ago. A Brilliant Artist. Check out Warwick Fuller👌🎨
I've been a fan of Warwicks for quite a while. Love his work. And Leon Holmes.

Beautiful Work, Just subbed Mate, Happy Painting 🎨👌😊
bella obra maestro
Tony, you mentioned an artist "Col Euising' ?? Can you spell his last name please. This was an amazing video, truly great. Thanks.
Colley whisson
You're wrong about green skies. Skies turn green near the horizon.
Just wish we could see the reference photo.

Hugh I’m using Zest-it as a thinner and brush cleaner. Keeps it simple.
БРАВО !
😍 Thanks for this! 😍 😻

Jeff Boring I’m guessing it was Colley Whisson. How far into the video was it?
Tony Parsons
That was it. It was around the 25 min mark. I have now found him. Thanks
Good artists always make it seems too easy
I don’t want this to seem like a smart ass comment but is your Naples yellow really yellow ochre?
Looks like it doesn’t it! Michael Harding Naples Yellow is incredibly dark
Tony Parsons So would you recommend that I use yellow ochre since my Naples yellow is Gamblin

Jazzwayze yes I’ve found too much polyfiller and it sucks the paint too much. Just enough to give the brush strokes tooth.
And a pink tinted Gesso for me! Stole the idea from Miles Fairhurst's video on Seago. Cheers. John
Jazzwayz
Colly Weston ??? How about showing a link to your reference material, please and thank you.

kommi1974 can you please tell in which video dose Mr. Whisson talk about values? Thank you very much.
nice
A nice black is burnt umber and Ultramarine Blue.
Please would, you speak up as I could hardly hear you.
Where is your reference.
Really annoying how you keep leaning towards the camera and your voice gets louder all of a sudden.
$1 art work.

Is that an offer?
