You should totally do an episode where you help Chris clean up his garage : I'd pay to see an entire TV series about that ^^ and I'd buy anything he wants to get rid of !

Anthrax- Sound of White Noise COC- America's Volume Dealer Danzig- Blackacidevil Dio- Strange Highways In Flames- I The Mask Iron Maiden- The X Factor Judas Priest- Demolition Kix- Show Business Megadeth- Cryptic Writings Slayer- Diabolus In Musica SOiL- True Self Trivium- The Crusade
America's Volume Dealer, great pick. A song like Stare Too Long is was defiantly a change of pace for COC compared to anything before that. Anytime Warren Haynes is a guest on a song, it is probably gonna be good.
I always come back to IRON MAIDEN. I have always been perplexed by the amount of people who hate No Prayer fro the Dying, and Fear of the Dark. I loved them when they came out, and I still love them now. To me they just sound like great classic IRON MAIDEN albums. Nothing will ever match the first five, but I enjoy these two every bit as much as Somewhere In Time, or 7th Son.
@@LoLavilla82 If I hear Wind Of Change just one more time - I'll be in the wind, living alone under a bush in the desert! Huge Scorps fan, early stuff too, but just not a metal ballad guy! The only metal ballads I like a lot, are usually done by progressive metal bands.
I liked Hold Your Fire from the jump, although Rush can do no wrong with me! Even the more poppier, synthy material sounds damn good to me. I never gave Crazy Nights much of a chance, but seeing your listing of it (and a few others mentioned it) and checking out samples.....yeah, it's pretty rockin' and songs are memorable. Im gonna find it for dirt cheap, used CD section! Lastly......don't tell anyone.......shhhh......I dug Hysteria in a major way......I never said that......shhhh.....🎸🎸🎸🎸
Nice to see Thunder Seven, I’m a big Triumph fan and it’s my favorite of theirs too, good call. I never understood the negative views of that one. Great songs, it sounds great, great cover.
It's my second favorite album after Allied Forces. What's funny is the one song Jamie didn't quite like, Cool Down, I really enjoy. As a Zeppelin imitation type of song of the 80's it's one of the best and I love Rik Emmett's playing on it.
1. Raised On Radio - Journey 2. Vapor Trails - Rush 3. Long Road Out Of Eden - The Eagles Honorable mention: Grace Under Pressure - Rush Arrival - Journey Dynasty - Kiss Jazz - Queen Big Generator - Yes Diver Down - Van Halen
Great show again! STRANGE HIGHWAYS is a great choice. I bet if that album had came out in 1984, it would be cherished. DONE WITH MIRRORS was hammered somewhat on arrival. I loved that comeback album from Aerosmith. I know I'm in a minority, but I liked X-FACTOR, though it did run a little long. FLICK OF THE SWITCH I always loved, from the day it came out. Props to Count Ralfus for the Hallow's Eve mention and to Ryan for the E-Force era of Voivod mention.
I forgot that there are Misfits fans who don't like Graves Misfits only. They only like Danzig Misfits. I don't get it. Graves may not be a great person, but at least the music he made with the Misfits were awesome. Didn't put them on mine, didn't know at the time. Punk came within the top of the 90s, so the Misfits came back in time for the dominance of punk. Go back and listen to Graves Misfits albums. They have more bangers than you think they did.
Dream Theater - Falling Into Infinity Queensryche - Q2K Kiss - Crazy Nights & Carnival of Souls Rush - Presto & Test For Echo Black Sabbath - Never Say Die Iron Maiden - X-factor Motorhead - Snake Bite Love & We Are Motorhead Whitesnake - Slip of the Tongue Alice Cooper - Dragontown Dokken - Shadowland The Who - It's Hard King's X - Please Come Home Mr. Bulbous Yes - Magnification
Television - Adventure. Yeah Marquee Moon is better but I refuse to believe the stance some people have that Adventure is bad or disappointing when it's got Days and Carried Away on it.
My picks would be: COC - America's Volume Dealer My Dying Bride - 34.788% Complete Paradise Lost - Believe in Nothing Machine Head - The Burning Red Samael - Reign of Light The Haunted - Unseen
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime II. A really good album but people couldn't get past the title and buried it in comparison to the first O:M. I think these songs under a different album name would have been better received.
I'm a gigantic rush fan and for some reason that was the only record that didn't quite click with me. Just a bit too much cheese for me with stuff like the title track. But I really love Driven, Virtually and honestly the riffs in Dog Years are very fun 😂
Broadway the Hard Way - Zappa The Final Cut - Pink Floyd Counterparts - Rush P.J. Harvey - White Chalk Wraithchild America - Climbin the Walls Emma Ruth Rundle- Marked for Death The Breeders - Title TK Sigur Ros -()
@@damiankarras They are all great. "Marked" is the album I play over and over again. Can't say that most don't like, just annoyed by how much I play it. :-)
Scorpions - Humanity Hour 1 - As Klaus said at the time, “a more mature Scorpions”, which I welcomed heartily. I dig the combination of down-tuned guitars, piano and strings and Klaus sounds incredible. I prefer this style any day over the return to 80s cheese of Sting in the Tail. Helloween - Chameleon - An eclectic mix, for sure, but there’s some seriously great tunes on it, such as Giants, Music, I Believe and Longing. If you mixed the best of this record with the best of Pink Bubbles Go Ape, you’d have a pretty kickass album! Thin Lizzy - Nightlife - The future classic line-up finding their feet, but some great stuff here, like She Knows, It’s Only Money, Showdown, Philomena and of course, the original version of Still In Love With You with the late, great Gary Moore. Triumph - Thunder Seven - A guitar and vocal tour de force by Rik Emmett! From the stellar harmonies of Time Goes By and Killing Time, to the heavy rock of Stranger in a Strange Land, the instrumental Little Boy Blues and Midsummer’s Daydream and the jaw-dropping, multi-layered vocal masterpiece, Time Canon (every voice is Rik’s!!), this record has it all and should’ve sold millions. Black Sabbath - The Tony Martin albums. Okay, Forbidden isn’t great overall, but has a few good songs. Eternal Idol, Headless Cross, Try and Cross Purposes are all amazing. I have a theory that most people slagging off these albums have never actually heard ‘em.
Definitely the first three 80's Pantera albums, yeah they're more glam metal and obviously not in the same stratosphere as the 90's albums but all three have their moments and the musicianship, particularly from Dimebag, is stellar. Power Metal is a fantastic album, I'd put it in the same league as the 90's albums tbh, I love it. If Load and particularly Reload didn't have the Metallica name attached to them, people would definitely look at the differently, both of them have some great rock songs and Reload has some top-tier Metallica songs like Devil's Dance and underrated ones like Attitude and Prince Charming.
Tecnical Ecstasy- Black Sabbath Never Say Die- Black Sabbath Face Dances - The Who It's Hard- The Who CODA - Led Zeppelin GTR - self titled Queen- Jazz
Except for Alo, and I imagine he has enough to qualify, every background looks like each individual is sitting in a music store. And that's very, very cool.
Motley Crue ""Motley Crue""-their heaviest album! Celtic Frost ""Cold Lake""-really good stuff! Judas Priest :""Jugulator""-Judas became a thrash metal band Testament ""Demonic""- Testament playing death metal-brilliant!! Dio-"'Angry Machines"",again,a damn heavy album!!
I enjoy that Motley Crue album with Corabi more than a lot of their classic era stuff. People can’t wait to dump on it or say the Vince Neil solo record he did around that time was better. I don’t know what they are hearing but perhaps the issue is that I will take John Corabi as a singer over Vince Neil on any day of the week.
Great show guys. Here my picks. Jamie mentioned one of them . Risk by Megadeth Reload by Metallica Chameleon by Helloween Rocka Rolla by Judas Priest The X Factor by Iron Maiden
OASIS - Be Here Now DEEP PURPLE - The House Of Blue Light RUSH - Hold Your Fire JETHRO TULL - This Was STEELY DAN - Everything Must Go BLACK SABBATH - Never Say Die THE BEATLES - Beatles For Sale AC/DC - Blow Up Your Video
Queen - Hot Space ELP-Black Moon Jethro Tull- Under Wraps The Clash-Cut The Crap Dio-Magica Iron Maiden- The X Factor Yes-Big Generator Def Leppard-Hysteria Gary Numan- Warriors Sparks-Music That You Can Dance To
This is my list of albums i think are underrated: Bon Jovi - These Days Alice Cooper - Hey Stoopid Alice Cooper - Brutal Planet Deep Purple - The House Of Blue Light Dio - Magica Dio - Master Of The Moon Iron Maiden - A Matter Of Life And Death Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier Iron Maiden - The Book Of Souls Saxon - Solid Ball Of Rock Scorpions - Face The Heat Scorpions - Humanity: Hour I U2 - Songs Of Innocence U2 - Songs Of Experience Van Halen - OU812 Van Halen - Balance Whitesnake - Slip Of The Tongue I Know it's a lot but i love a lot of music
Good list. Okay, I hated Slip of the Tongue when I first bought it. It's not as good as Slide It In or the 87 album, but I don't hate it as much as I used to. I'm a U2 fan but stopped listening after No Line on the Horizon. I will say that All You Can't Leave Behind is by far their most boring album. I hate it w/a passion!
'childhood's end' is amazing, thanks for calling out Ulver, I was literally thinking of that album when you guys started the topic. They have done so much amazing stuff, I met them at a cd release in Brooklyn for 'Shadows of the Sun', so there is stuff I might like more than Childhood's End, but that album is really well done. The main criticism was that it was too faithful to the originals, but that to me is no big, they still made it interesting.
@ Ralph, when I first bought the B.O.M.B. cassette and heard the classical piano I got worried, but I agree it is a great album with ripping solos, crunchy metal riffs, and a killer instrumental," Initial Shock". A few punk albums that got panned for being to melodic, or to metal, or changing there sound, or "selling out" ext. that I like. * 7 Seconds- New Wind * T.S.O.L.- Beneath the Shadows and Weathered Statues ep * Circle Jerks- Wonderful * Misfits- American Psycho * Black Flag- In my Head * Bad Brains- Quickness * Bad Religion- the 90s Atlantic Records albums without Mr. Brett
I would switch out Wonderful for the Oddities album by the Circle Jerks & I remember people complaining that My War being to metal for Black Flag. The last Bad Religion album is so commercial, I bought it and only listened to it once because it was so bad.😊
Street Legal - Bob Dylan Landing On Water - Neil Young Them Or Us - Frank Zappa Pin Ups - David Bowie Cut the Crap - The Clash Under Cover - Rolling Stones Soft Parade - The Doors Without Alex - SAHB Who's Last - Who Final Cut - Pink Floyd
Iron Maiden - The X Factor and Virtual XI Judas Priest - Jugulator and Demolition Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse of Reason Genesis - Invisible Touch Yes - 90125 Metallica - St. Anger Black Sabbath - Never Say Die and Forbidden
Some of mine would be: Black Sabbath: The Eternal Idol. Black Sabbath: Never Say Die. Slayer: Diabolus In Musica. Def Leppard: Hysteria. AC/DC: Fly on the Wall. Motorhead: Iron Fist. ZZ Top: Recycler. Queen: The Miracle. And so many others.
@@sljulio to me Tattoo You was the last great Stones album until most recent with Blue & Lonesome, but Undercover is a great album. Don't know why that gets hate. Dirty Rocks is trash, but Steel Wheels, Voodoo Lounge and Bridge to Babylon are corporate rock and they're just ok. Need that blues sound in the band. A Bigger Bang was awesome. And so was Blue & Lonesome. Hell I bought that on vinyl this past July when I was down in Memphis on Beale Street!
@@renlessard You should check out "Voodoo Lounge". Phil from Now Spinning had three songs from it in his top 20 Stones songs from all time, so I gave it a listen. It's a really good album. It could've easily have followed "Black and Blue" or come before "Tattoo You".
ACE FREHLEY played on "everything" save for the solo in Sweet Pain, and the studio tracks other than Rocket Ride on Side 4 of Alive II. And...it's easy to hear Ace Frehley! His style is unique and his solos for almost every song from 1973-1979 are ICONIC, perfectly phrased and tasty as ribs and ice cream! 🍖 🍨
Absolutely agreed about Thunder Seven. No idea why there are people who dislike it intensely. Really a great album. Jamie is absolutely correct! Hold Your Fire is a great album! Balanced the guitars and keys much better than Power Windows, and was the polished rock that fit really well in the time period. I will die on that hill! Agreed with Peter about Falling Into Infinity - yeah...some of it clearly had studio exec fingerprints all over it...and then that midsection in Lines In the Sand...Beautiful!!
Hey Pete, thank you for mentioning Falling Into Infinity. I LOVE that album. I rank it in the top half of their discography. I understand why people don't care for it but I have always thought it was a solid record.
Easy - VAN HALEN 3 (glad to see a couple other people mention it). If you forget all the context and just think of it as a weird rock album, it's a lot more enjoyable. Eddie was just going wild and enjoying being at his peak - and I think the perceived lack of immediacy has more to do with him trying to take musical risks rather than him suddenly forgetting how to write a song as some people say. (Full disclosure I may be biased because my first concert ever was the VH3 tour, and I'm also a big Extreme fan.)
The Who - By Numbers, I simply love it. I think people who didn't like it should listen to this album again with care. By the way, I love Hold Your Fire by Rush.
From the Metal realm: Voivod-Angel Rat, Slayer-South of Heaven (when it came out, people were very disappointed, might not be the case anymore), Venom-Calm before the Storm (agree with Chris), Judas Priest-Point of Entry, Celtic Frost-Cold Lake (yeeaahh I know...I kind of like it anyway...). From the Classic Rock realm: Uriah Heep-Conquest, Queen-Hot Space, Van Halen-Diver Down, Bowie-Tonight, Alice Cooper-Special Cooper (my fav AC (the singer) album). Cheers.
Awesome show, guys! Chris and Jamie arguing with each other was hilarious! Here are my five picks: 1) The Black Crowes' 'Lions' (2001) 2) Def Leppard's 'X' (2002) 3) Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'The Last Rebel' (1993) 4) Overkill's 'I Hear Black' (1993) 5) Cinderella's 'Still Climbing' (1994)
Still Climbing was excellent, I wonder how many fans missed out on it simply due to not hearing it, not even knowing it came out! Cinderella fans and really, any fan of good hard rock, would like the songs.
@@lateramae For sure, bummed me out when Cinderella disbanded! Really thought there would have been a reunion, years ago, as the guys always seemed to get along with each other......but not to be! Liking Tom's solo stuff a lot, but Cinderella had some definite magic with Eric, Jeff and Fred, led by immensely talented Tom Kiefer! Lions was excellent Crowe's album, I Hear Black continues Overkills awesome consistency (even though peeps ragged on it!?!?) and although The Lep's X album was pretty poppy, I've always had a thing for strong melodies! Good list!
@@treff9226 Thanks so much! It really is a shame with Cinderella. Though they only had four albums, they were a pretty consistent band. Even though they reunited for a few tours, they never made a new album, which I never understood why. But, with Jeff LaBar's death in 2021, there's no use in making a new album now. Overkill are one of the most consistent bands out there today and with 'I Hear Black,' they incorporated new elements, but still kept the Overkill sound. The 'X' album takes me back to happy times during my youth because I grew up with pop music.
Black Sabbath - Never Say Die Picked by lots already, I still hope Pete will one day grow to like/love it....! Gary Moore - Dark Days In Paradise & A Different Beat I believe these two albums are generally not loved by GM fans - but I like both (and love some bits of each). UFO - UFO I Has a "dirty" sound - quite different to what the band became - but another that just fits a certain mood.
Finally some justice for Hold Your Fire! Thank you Jamie. My obvious pick for this is Nostradamus. Such a great unique album that you don’t see much of these days from legacy bands. Rob’s performance is phenomenal. God forbid a band take a chance!
Another great show by the Squares. Not necessarily in the usual vein of HSV metal and rock but would mention Yellow Submarine by The Beatles - probably because they're in mind constantly while doing SoT's daily 60s show this month. Yes, it is a soundtrack with a lot of Side 2 written by George Martin. But there some tracks still on Side 1 that make this a Beatles album I still really like [though likely my least favorite from the four]. Besides, having All You Need Is Love is reason enough to have this album. Thanks again to everyone on the show or who sent in her/his list.
I am with Jamie on Hold Your Fire, and "Time Stand Still" is one of my all-time faves. I love Turbo, and I do like Risk. KISS' name came up a few times: I'm with Craig on both Dynasty and Unmasked (though SB and Monster leave me cold), the MIA Karen on 'The Elder', and I'll throw in Crazy Nights (echoing many in the comments), as well as Psycho Circus. Chris continually cracks me up with his hatred for certain albums - Nostradamus being the most hilarious of all. And he summed up my feelings about Motley Crue in the seven words he uttered around 59:34: I have never cared about their music, and that same sentiment applies to the fuckery in which its members have frequently engaged. A few decent songs? Fine. This episode was a blast!
Cheap Trick - Next Position Please Cheap Trick - Woke Up With a Monster Kansas - Vinyl Confessions Aerosmith - Done with Mirrors Deep Purple - House of Blue Light
How about a show on one album wonders? There are lots of shows on one hit wonders, but these are bands who absolutely nailed it for an entire 40 minutes, and never did it again. As examples, I would proffer: Edgar Broughton Band III Arthur Brown and Kingdom Come: Galactic Zoo Dossier Alanis Morisette: Jagged little pill Procol Harum: Grand Hotel Lloyd Cole and the Commotions: Rattlesnakes Streetwalkers: Streetwalkers Sex Pistols: Never Mind the Bullocks Amy MacDonald: This is the life Actually, there are loads of them ...
For some reason, I always find myself really enjoyed so-called "shitty" albums. A three run of Aerosmith albums I always defend are Night in the Ruts, Rock and a Hard Place" and Done With Mirrors. I love all three albums, with Ruts being my favourite Aerosmith album. I also have a soft spot for Turbo and Nostradamus by Judas Priest. Virtual XI by Iron Maiden, Load by Metallica and Fistful of Metal by Anthrax are all albums I genuinely love. The list goes on and on.
Often regarded as their weakest albums, but I love all of these: Riot : restless breed Starz: coliseum rock Montrose: paper money Kansas: monolith Deep Purple: come taste the band (absolute perfection) Black Sabbath: Technical Ecstasy ( gypsy, you won’t change and dirty women are master pieces!)
Nice pick - one of those albums that upon playing it, I am continually surprised at how much I like it, from start to finish! Said to be a victim of Aerosmith's increasing use of "party favors" and labeled as sloppy and uninspired, I just don't hear that at all. Draw The Line belongs with upper tier Aerosmith albums!
I've always LOVED "Draw The Line," and I can't understand the people who don't. I really dig the unique and infectious riffs! The title track is without question, one of Aerosmith's best! But then we've got Critical Mass, Get It Up, I Wanna Know Why, Kings and Queens, Sight For Sore Eyes.... C'mon!
Glad you mentioned those black out Alice Cooper albums, Craig. I like them all too, although Dada is far and away my favorite. It’s so sonically interesting and almost morbidly fascinating. I would go so far as to say it’s an unrecognized masterpiece of his catalog.
I could never understand what some fans have against those four albums, lyrical brilliance everywhere these are very inspired and 'visual' songs like little movies, would've made fun music videos. Well perfomed too, hard to imagine Alice being 'not all there'... Apparently, Dick Wagner's favorite Cooper album was Zipper Catches Skin.
I agree, very picturesque. Pete has a point of course, these are rather cold albums in production and sound despite the humor but then again, cold is an atmosphere too and that's the bottom line always in music; you feel something. Musically also, I find them interesting and challenging more than more straight forward metal output, the 'comeback' stuff is like he reversed back to being a teenager could've been written by a 15 year old whereas the 'blackout' albums and era for better or worse, are a grown - if troubled - man's work. So overall, they feel more genuine to me, less calculated and market targeted.
Anthrax - Stomp 442. One of the first Anthrax albums I started listening to more thoroughly believe it or not. It was before I was all that into Anthrax and loads of other bands that I later got into. I discovered Armored Saint at some point afterwards because of John Bush. I don't love it but I do like it and have a soft spot for it. It has a handful of memorable tracks that I can frequently go back to.
Completely agree with Jamie. Thunder Seven is easily my favourite Triumph album. Martin Popoff gave it a 1/10 in his review book. I just can’t understand that. Produced by Eddie Kramer - Can’t miss. Little Boy Blues instrumental seals the deal. All killer no filler.
Martin and I don't agree on a lot of things. I think he just tries to stir things up a lot of the time to get a reaction. Thunder Seven was a great record, state of the art for 1984, 4 out of 5 stars.
Ryan, Voivod being my favorite band of all times, I do not think the E.Forrest albums were ever hated or put down, usually it's the Jason's era, which's sadly understandable because of Piggy's condition. I will put those 3 releases below Negatron any day !
Rush - Roll the Bones Yeah, it's not one of their best but it's a very satisfying listen. One of my favorite Rush songs is on it too. "Ghost Of A Chance."
I'm also a big fan of the Christian Olde-Woblers/Byron Stroud version of Fear Factory. In fact, I think it's a better version that the band with Dino back in it these last few years. I got to see Eric Forest-era Voivod open for Neurosis in the late 90's. Pretty cool combo there.
No one ever talks about Robert Plant's "Shaken 'n Stirred" . I bought it when it came out. Love it. So different and experimental. I understand the hate, but I still enjoy this oddity almost 40 years later
Hear From the Now Frontier - Queensryche. It's melancholic, expansive, and ambitious. Host - Paradise Lost. The band channel Depeche Mode to create vast audio landscapes. Slang - Def Leppard. Their most layered album, this rewards with every listen. To simply label it as a grunge attempt is too simplistic, and it stark contrast to the album's weight. Slip of the Tongue - Whitesnake. Bombastic, overblown and pompous! But when has Coverdale been the master of subtle? Native Tongue - Poison. Kotzen's playing elevates the band in making them sound unPoison. HMs Sound of White Noise - Anthrax. Tighter, stronger and fresher. Dysfunctional - Dokken. Apt title that still has some gems.
Sound of White Noise is awesome, with "Black Lodge" being my favorite song. Dysfunctional is quite good too, lots of good stuff off of that album. I frequently jam to "Too High to Fly", "Shadows of Life" and "Long Way Home"
Accept - Eat the heat Judas Priest - Turbo Jefferson Airplane - ST 1989 Whiplash - Ticket To mayhem Kiss - Carnival of Souls Rose Tattoo - Beats from a single drum Uriah Heep - Conquest
I always loved Ticket to Mayhem but I guess after the masterpiece of Power & Pain anything else would be a step down, the third album by them Insult to Injury was the big letdown for me.
First "shitty" albums I personally really like that came to my mind: Van Halen - III Black Sabbath - Never Say Die Deep Purple (aka Rainbow) - Slaves and Masters Saxon - Rock The Nation Ted Nugent - Craveman
Rush - Test for Echo. Got me back into Rush after hating the previous four albums. It's far from great but it sounds closer to how I want Rush to sound than the previous albums. I like it.
Kind of the same for me. Loved Power Windows. Wasn't too thrilled with Hold Your Fire, was bored to tears with Presto, severely disliked Roll The Bones and hated Counterparts. When the song "Test For Echo" was getting played to death in advance of the albums release, I thought "Here we go again". But then a local rock station played the entire Test or Echo album on release day and I really liked several songs, most notably, "Driven" "Resist" & my personal favorite, "Time And Motion".
1. Islands 2. Caress of Steele 3. World Record 4. Rock and Roll Machine 5. Fire Garden 6. Friends-20/20 7. The Chase 8. Up on Cobb Mountain 9. Desire 10. Waka/Jawaka 11. Bone against Steel 12. Serving 190 Proof 13. Bust a Nut 14. Freedom 15. Songs from the West Coast 16. Desperado 17. Sleepwalker 18. Amused to Death 19. Magical Mystery Tour 20. Spirits having flown
Black Sabbath- Technical Ecstacy, Never Say Die, Born Again Deep Purple- Come Taste the Band Kiss- Psycho Circus Metallica- Load, St. Anger Judas Priest- Turbo, Ram it Down Aerosmith- Night in the Ruts, Done With Mirrors U2- Pop Pink Floyd- The Final Cut
Helloween - Pink bubbles go ape Dio - Angry machines Machine Head - the burning red Judas Priest - Jugulator Savatge - The wake of magellan Pearl Jam - Binaural Candlebox - Lucy Testament - Low Anthrax - The greater of two evils Bad religion - the gray race Megadeth - Cryptic writings Muse - The 2nd law Paul McCartney - Give my regards to broad street Queens of the stone age - Era vulgaris Spock's Beard - Octane
And Celtic Frost is the best, for me they are my fave of the 80s bands. Even if Cold Lake is a travesty. To Mega Therion and Into the Pandemonium are amazing, and they redeemed themselves with Monotheist. Tom G is the man.
My choices aren't albums that aren't flat out terrible, but are albums that are considered the more weaker ones in their respective discographies: Rush - Hold Your Fire Dream Theater - Falling Into Infinity KISS - Crazy Nights Judas Priest - Turbo Journey - Raised On Radio Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse of Reason
Crass - Yes Sir I Will Devo - Oh No Its Devo Sham 69 - The Game PIL - This Is What You Want Rod Stewart - Foolish Behaviour Lou Reed - The Bells Bad Religion - Into The Unknown
#21 There's One in Every Crowd by Eric Clapton 1975. A strong album from Eric that doesn't appear to have many mentions. There's a lot of good songs on this album including Dont Blame Me, the sequel to I Shot the Sheriff another good reggae inspired number. Other favourites are the jaunty Little Rachel, High an uptempo very melodic tune, two great bluesy songs, Pretty Blue Eyes and the lovely The Sky is Crying. So yes a strong follow up album to 461 Ocean Boulevard.
Here's some that I like, despite them being highly maligned.... Metallica - St. Anger Van Halen - 3 Suicide Silence (s/t) Queen - Hot Space Black Sabbath - Never Say Die
Black Sabbath: Never Say Die , AC/DC: Fly on the wall, Led Zeppelin: Coda, Rush: Rush, Metallica: Death Magnetic, Mötley Crue: Theater of pain, ZZ Top: First Album, Def Leppard: Hysteria
Satyricon - The Age of Nero. Darkthrone - Goatlord. Destruction - Day of Reckoning. Honorable mentions... Motörhead - Another Perfect Day. Deep Purple - Come Taste the Band. Boston - Third Stage.
You should totally do an episode where you help Chris clean up his garage : I'd pay to see an entire TV series about that ^^ and I'd buy anything he wants to get rid of !

Is Sound of White Noise rated low? I think it’s one of Anthrax’s best albums.
Yes! Devouring Radiant Light I consider their best. The vibey production and songwriting is great
Ralph always brings his "Show and Tell" A game. He's always got the right props close by. And he says, "I seen" better than anyone on the panel.

Anthrax- Sound of White Noise

Iron Maiden- The X Factor
Judas Priest- Demolition

Awesome song

Love Thunder 7!
Thunder Seven is my favorite Triumph album, too! It should’ve been huge!
1. Raised
On Radio - Journey
2. Vapor Trails - Rush
3. Long Road
Out Of Eden - The Eagles
Honorable mention:
Grace Under Pressure - Rush
Arrival - Journey
Dynasty - Kiss
Jazz - Queen
Big Generator - Yes
Diver Down - Van Halen
Jazz one of my favorites from Queen
Really like all three of those albums!
Cool that you mentioned Arrival. A strong Journey album
Love Big Generator.
Voivod - Negatron
Black Sabbath - Never say Die !
Anthrax - Sound of white noise
Candlemass - from the 13th sun
King Diamond - the Graveyard
Shout out to Ralph for mentioning the Graves Misfits albums. So much great stuff (Speak of the Devil, Helena, Dig Up Her Bones).
Last time Misfits had a good following and could have produced some great records if they would have kept Graves
Dream Theater - Falling Into Infinity
Queensryche - Q2K
Kiss - Crazy Nights & Carnival of Souls
Rush - Presto & Test For Echo
Black Sabbath - Never Say Die
Iron Maiden - X-factor
Motorhead - Snake Bite Love & We Are Motorhead
Whitesnake - Slip of the Tongue
Alice Cooper - Dragontown
Dokken - Shadowland
The Who - It's Hard
King's X - Please Come Home Mr. Bulbous
Yes - Magnification
Television - Adventure. Yeah Marquee Moon is better but I refuse to believe the stance some people have that Adventure is bad or disappointing when it's got Days and Carried Away on it.
You are correct. I always enjoyed that album.
My picks would be:
COC - America's Volume Dealer
My Dying Bride - 34.788% Complete
Paradise Lost - Believe in Nothing
Machine Head - The Burning Red
Samael - Reign of Light
The Haunted - Unseen
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime II. A really good album but people couldn't get past the title and buried it in comparison to the first O:M. I think these songs under a different album name would have been better received.
OM 2 is not that great. But the second half is much better than the first half of the album.
As far as Rush goes, I've always had a soft spot for Test For Echo. A lot of Rush fans hate that record but it's honestly one of my favourites
I'm a gigantic rush fan and for some reason that was the only record that didn't quite click with me. Just a bit too much cheese for me with stuff like the title track. But I really love Driven, Virtually and honestly the riffs in Dog Years are very fun 😂
I love TEST.... also!!! One of my absolute favorites too, along with CARESS OF STEEL!!!
As far as this channel goes, i’d say Invisible Touch - Genesis and A Momentary Lapse Of Reason - Pink Floyd.
Broadway the Hard Way - Zappa
The Final Cut - Pink Floyd
Counterparts - Rush
P.J. Harvey - White Chalk
Wraithchild America - Climbin the Walls
Emma Ruth Rundle- Marked for Death
The Breeders - Title TK
Sigur Ros -()
Good list, and that Breeders album is fantastic.
pink floyd was a good one ..people prolly wanted tge whole band together..saw them in concert..its a good one.
All Emma albums are amazing, including the stuff with Thou.
@@damiankarras They are all great. "Marked" is the album I play over and over again. Can't say that most don't like, just annoyed by how much I play it. :-)
AC/DC - FLY ON THE WALL
KISS - CRAZY NIGHTS
MOTORHEAD- ANOTHER PERFECT DAY
BUDGIE- IMPECKABLE
OZZY OSBOURNE- NO REST FOR THE WICKED
cheers everyone 👍
Gotta give Crazy Nights another listen - it's one of the few Kiss albums I don't have.
Nightwish - Imaginaerum. It's not Tarja etc, but I think it's their last really good one. Love the overall feeling of the album!
Tecnical Ecstasy- Black Sabbath
Never Say Die- Black Sabbath
Face Dances - The Who
It's Hard- The Who
CODA - Led Zeppelin
GTR - self titled
Queen- Jazz
1. Kiss - “Crazy Nights”
2. Def Leppard - “Slang”
3. Kingdom Come - “In Your Face”
That Kingdom Come album is incredibly slept on, all killer no filler and better than the debut.
More and more people are coming around to Slang. I'd like to think of it as Def Leppard without the polish.
Except for Alo, and I imagine he has enough to qualify, every background looks like each individual is sitting in a music store. And that's very, very cool.
Motley Crue ""Motley Crue""-their heaviest album!
Celtic Frost ""Cold Lake""-really good stuff!
Judas Priest :""Jugulator""-Judas became a thrash metal band
Testament ""Demonic""- Testament playing death metal-brilliant!!
Risk by Megadeth
Reload by Metallica
Chameleon by Helloween
Rocka Rolla by Judas Priest
The X Factor by Iron Maiden
I dig the first four on your list. 👍
OASIS - Be Here Now
DEEP PURPLE - The House Of Blue Light
RUSH - Hold Your Fire
JETHRO TULL - This Was
STEELY DAN - Everything Must Go
BLACK SABBATH - Never Say Die
THE BEATLES - Beatles For Sale
AC/DC - Blow Up Your Video
Beatles for sale is great! I prefer it over A Hard Day‘s Night or Please Please me.
YES- Big Generator
ABW&H- ABW&H
Black Sabbath- Technical Ecstasy
Rush- Caress of Steel
Queen - Hot Space
ELP-Black Moon
Jethro Tull- Under Wraps
The Clash-Cut The Crap
Dio-Magica
Iron Maiden- The X Factor
Yes-Big Generator
Def Leppard-Hysteria
Gary Numan- Warriors
Sparks-Music That You Can Dance To
I like Hot Space too.
This is my list of albums i think are underrated:
Bon Jovi - These Days
Alice Cooper - Hey Stoopid
Alice Cooper - Brutal Planet
Deep Purple - The House Of Blue Light
Dio - Magica
Dio - Master Of The Moon
Iron Maiden - A Matter Of Life And Death
Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier
Iron Maiden - The Book Of Souls
Saxon - Solid Ball Of Rock
Scorpions - Face The Heat
Scorpions - Humanity: Hour I
U2 - Songs Of Innocence
U2 - Songs Of Experience
Van Halen - OU812
Van Halen - Balance
Whitesnake - Slip Of The Tongue
I Know it's a lot but i love a lot of music
Carcass - Swansong
The Cult - 94 st
Paradise Lost - One Second
Life of Agony - Soul Searching Sun
Tiamat - Judas Christ
Love that Cult debut. Good call.
I love Afterburner by ZZ Top
* 7 Seconds- New Wind
* T.S.O.L.- Beneath the Shadows and Weathered Statues ep
* Circle Jerks- Wonderful
* Misfits- American Psycho
* Black Flag- In my Head
* Bad Brains- Quickness
* Bad Religion- the 90s Atlantic Records albums without Mr. Brett
I would switch out Wonderful for the Oddities album by the Circle Jerks & I remember people complaining that My War being to metal for Black Flag. The last Bad Religion album is so commercial, I bought it and only listened to it once because it was so bad.😊
Yes! So glad you brought up "Cold Lake", Alo! Very underrated album!
Street Legal - Bob Dylan
Landing On Water - Neil Young
Them Or Us - Frank Zappa
Pin Ups - David Bowie
Cut the Crap - The Clash
Under Cover - Rolling Stones
Soft Parade - The Doors
Without Alex - SAHB
Who's Last - Who
Final Cut - Pink Floyd
Iron Maiden - The X Factor and Virtual XI
Judas Priest - Jugulator and Demolition
Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse of Reason
Genesis - Invisible Touch
Yes - 90125
Metallica - St. Anger
Black Sabbath - Never Say Die and Forbidden
Some of mine would be:
Black Sabbath: The Eternal Idol.
Black Sabbath: Never Say Die.
Slayer: Diabolus In Musica.
Def Leppard: Hysteria.
AC/DC: Fly on the Wall.
Motorhead: Iron Fist.
ZZ Top: Recycler.
Queen: The Miracle.
And so many others.
Undercover by the Stones. It was never held up as a great Stones album but I always loved it
Undercover of the Night IS a great song though. Last great song by them in my opinion
Love alot of songs on that one , I think the last great Stones Album !👍
@@sljulio to me Tattoo You was the last great Stones album until most recent with Blue & Lonesome, but Undercover is a great album. Don't know why that gets hate. Dirty Rocks is trash, but Steel Wheels, Voodoo Lounge and Bridge to Babylon are corporate rock and they're just ok. Need that blues sound in the band. A Bigger Bang was awesome. And so was Blue & Lonesome. Hell I bought that on vinyl this past July when I was down in Memphis on Beale Street!
@@takodabostwick8507 😁👍

AC/DC "Flick of the Switch" I loved it! My friends and family members, not so much.
Cheers.
Do you mean Special Forces?
I like Tonight,too;The title track,Blue Jean,Loving The Alien,Don't Look Down.
Yes! Special Forces.@@adamsmashups4839
Awesome show, guys! Chris and Jamie arguing with each other was hilarious! Here are my five picks:
1) The Black Crowes' 'Lions' (2001)
2) Def Leppard's 'X' (2002)
3) Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'The Last Rebel' (1993)
4) Overkill's 'I Hear Black' (1993)
5) Cinderella's 'Still Climbing' (1994)
Still Climbing was excellent, I wonder how many fans missed out on it simply due to not hearing it, not even knowing it came out! Cinderella fans and really, any fan of good hard rock, would like the songs.
@@treff9226 It was their last album too, which is even more sad.
Black Sabbath - Never Say Die
Picked by lots already, I still hope Pete will one day grow to like/love it....!
Gary Moore - Dark Days In Paradise & A Different Beat
I believe these two albums are generally not loved by GM fans - but I like both (and love some bits of each).
UFO - UFO I
Has a "dirty" sound - quite different to what the band became - but another that just fits a certain mood.
Boston - Third Stage
Kansas - Audio Visions
Genesis - Abacab, From Genesis Yo Revelation
Styx - Cornerstone, Kilroy Was Here
Pink Floyd - Final Cut
Finally some justice for Hold Your Fire! Thank you Jamie. My obvious pick for this is Nostradamus. Such a great unique album that you don’t see much of these days from legacy bands. Rob’s performance is phenomenal. God forbid a band take a chance!
Totally agree with Cool Down on Thunder 7! It rocks. Solid album...top 3 record by them imo
I would take side 1 of Yellow Submarine over many of the pre Help albums. The songs on those early albums are good, but I seldom go back to them.
Cheap Trick - Next Position Please
Cheap Trick - Woke Up With a Monster
Kansas - Vinyl Confessions
Aerosmith - Done with Mirrors
Deep Purple - House of Blue Light
How about a show on one album wonders? There are lots of shows on one hit wonders, but these are bands who absolutely nailed it for an entire 40 minutes, and never did it again.
As examples, I would proffer:
Edgar Broughton Band III
Arthur Brown and Kingdom Come: Galactic Zoo Dossier
Alanis Morisette: Jagged little pill
Procol Harum: Grand Hotel
Lloyd Cole and the Commotions: Rattlesnakes
Streetwalkers: Streetwalkers
Sex Pistols: Never Mind the Bullocks
Amy MacDonald: This is the life
Actually, there are loads of them ...
#1 Metallica - Load
#2 Neil Young - Re•ac•tor
#3 Jackson Browne - Lives In The Balance
My brother and I played the shit out of re.ac.tor!
@@treff9226 I still love that album!
@@christophercoles4401 Any fan of Neil Young (people with ability to hear) should like Re*ac*tor! It rocks from beginning to end!
Often regarded as their weakest albums, but I love all of these:
Riot : restless breed
Starz: coliseum rock
Montrose: paper money
Kansas: monolith
Deep Purple: come taste the band (absolute perfection)
Black Sabbath: Technical Ecstasy ( gypsy, you won’t change and dirty women are master pieces!)
Coliseum Rock! I love that album.👍
Aerosmith Draw The Line
Nice pick - one of those albums that upon playing it, I am continually surprised at how much I like it, from start to finish! Said to be a victim of Aerosmith's increasing use of "party favors" and labeled as sloppy and uninspired, I just don't hear that at all. Draw The Line belongs with upper tier Aerosmith albums!
Martin Popof calls the titel tune the best rock song ever.
More and more people are coming around to that
Critical Mass , Kings and Queens, and Bite the Hand That Feeds are incredibly good. The ending of Draw the Line (the title track)invented Black Metal
Scarlet and Sheba is epic!
I absolutely love Dada too. Excellent songs and Ezrin using Pink Floyd style techniques with his production.
I love the lyrics to No Man's Land.Very funny stuff.
Flush the Fashion ranks high in Alice's catalogue for me, totally agree Craig. Top 10 Alice album
Love is all - butterfly ball
Popular - Nada surf
Snap your fingers, snap your neck - Prong
Anthrax - Stomp 442. One of the first Anthrax albums I started listening to more thoroughly believe it or not. It was before I was all that into Anthrax and loads of other bands that I later got into. I discovered Armored Saint at some point afterwards because of John Bush.
I don't love it but I do like it and have a soft spot for it. It has a handful of memorable tracks that I can frequently go back to.
I love BARE the last song
Fueled is a banger🤘🏽😎
David Bowie’s Pinups is my favorite covers album.
That was actually my first Bowie cd. Got it at a swap meet.
@@pathos66 Yeah a 1/10 is way too harsh imo. He also gave a 0/10 on y&T contagious I mean a 0 really?
Ryan, Voivod being my favorite band of all times, I do not think the E.Forrest albums were ever hated or put down, usually it's the Jason's era, which's sadly understandable because of Piggy's condition. I will put those 3 releases below Negatron any day !
Rush - Roll the Bones
Yeah, it's not one of their best but it's a very satisfying listen.
HMs
Sound of White Noise - Anthrax.
I like Hear In the Now Frontier as well. Its not heavy, its not proggy, but the songs are super catchy and well written. They got stuck in my head.
I have no problem with Hear In the Now Frontier. I love the song "You" off that album
Opeth's Heritage album is the one that finally got me into Opeth. I've always liked it a lot.
Kiss…..(Psycho Circus)..rocks 😎
I love that album!
Accept - Eat the heat
Judas Priest - Turbo
Jefferson Airplane - ST 1989
Whiplash - Ticket To mayhem
Kiss - Carnival of Souls
Rose Tattoo - Beats from a single drum
Uriah Heep - Conquest
I always loved Ticket to Mayhem but I guess after the masterpiece of Power & Pain anything else would be a step down, the third album by them Insult to Injury was the big letdown for me.
@@countralfus6408 the production on ticket to mayhem wasnt the best but the songs were strong but nothing beats power and pain

First "shitty" albums I personally really like that came to my mind:
Van Halen - III
Black Sabbath - Never Say Die
Deep Purple (aka Rainbow) - Slaves and Masters
Saxon - Rock The Nation
Ted Nugent - Craveman
Jamie for the win with -Hold Your Fire-. A favorite of mine too. … and Risk, too.

I AM HE!
And Celtic Frost is the best, for me they are my fave of the 80s bands. Even if Cold Lake is a travesty. To Mega Therion and Into the Pandemonium are amazing, and they redeemed themselves with Monotheist. Tom G is the man.
My choices aren't albums that aren't flat out terrible, but are albums that are considered the more weaker ones in their respective discographies:
Rush - Hold Your Fire
Dream Theater - Falling Into Infinity
KISS - Crazy Nights
Judas Priest - Turbo
Journey - Raised On Radio
Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse of Reason
Raised on Radio is the only Journey album I own. Love it!
BOC Club Ninja
AC/DC Flick of the switch
Metallica Load and Reload
Pink Floyd A momentary lapse of reason
Rush Grace under Pressure
The Final Cut
Alright, I‘m going to say it: I really like „Nostradamus“ by Judas Priest.
Great episode as usual, guys!
Pete, I love the Undercover album by the Rolling Stones. Great choice!
I love Nostradamus, I don’t care if I’m the only one! 😂
Crass - Yes Sir I Will
Devo - Oh No Its Devo
Sham 69 - The Game
PIL - This Is What You Want
Rod Stewart - Foolish Behaviour
Lou Reed - The Bells
Bad Religion - Into The Unknown
Anger
Van Halen - 3
Suicide Silence (s/t)
Queen - Hot Space
Black Sabbath - Never Say Die
Never say die is a great album
@@aceman3577agree
Black Sabbath: Never Say Die , AC/DC: Fly on the wall, Led Zeppelin: Coda, Rush: Rush, Metallica: Death Magnetic, Mötley Crue: Theater of pain, ZZ Top: First Album, Def Leppard: Hysteria
My favorite Ozzy Osbourne album is No rest for the wicked which everybody seems to don't like.
Possible Unpopular Opinion: It's better than The Ultimate Sin.
Satyricon - The Age of Nero.
Darkthrone - Goatlord.
Destruction - Day of Reckoning.
Honorable mentions...
Motörhead - Another Perfect Day.
Deep Purple - Come Taste the Band.
Boston - Third Stage.
