    I bet this story has legs because one of Florio's "sources" told him that the Vikings were trying to trade for Nabers sarcastically and Florio took it as fact. Trading away the best player on your team is not a good idea. There are examples of it today, like CMC. Trading a rookie for a proven player who also happens to be the best at his position, is not a good idea either. The titans did that with AJ Brown (top ten WR), and we know how thats been going for them.

    • @tmcdwldr
      @tmcdwldr 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Once again, MF doesn't understand. JJ would have preferred 3 years Vikings would have preferred 5. Why 5 for Vikings? Easier to manipulate cap for the longer term contract and with cap going up?, would have been a bargain back half plus team control. Why 3 for JJ? He would be 27 coming up on 28 next contract. Siezing 2nd bag as he hits his actual prime at 28. Paul Allen, KFAN voice of Vikings, used to leak crap Spielman told him. KAM leaks stuff to PA, which he shares with Florio much in the way Russia would leak information to a Useful Idiot. Yes Florio you are the UI, once removed in this scenario. 4 year contract was the compromise, and June was always the month. I do believe Vikings were serious about JJ getting his own month to shine. Watch the presser; JJ didn't get his moment in 2020.

    KOC clearly came out and put the JJ trade rumors to rest. Either he is a liar or you are wrong. He is not a liar. Also, there is zero guarantee that a high draft pick is great in the NFL. JJ is the best WR in the game right now. He isn’t just great. He is a game, team and people changer. He is a class-act. Last year he was out for several games due to injury and he still had good numbers. Why doesn’t every team trade their #1 stars for high draft picks when it’s contract time? There’s a reason. There is no guarantee in the draft.

    Honestly, this isnt a great deal. I get it, JJ is a great player, no debating that, but he’s playing the most replaceable position in the league. Before him they had Diggs who was great and last year they had Addison. You just aren’t getting the marginal value from signing him. It’s just a bad deal and I would have let him walk and trust my scouts could ID a guy or guys (as they have for years) to back full. WRs are all over the place.

    • @vincentkariuki4227
      @vincentkariuki4227 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      In a vacuum of course its not a great deal paying a skill player that much but you have to take the rising salary cap into account here...how can you be paying a good qb 55mil and pay just half of that for the best wr who's making the qbs look good and great in other cases....might a couple years before anyone blows JJs deal out the water
      Also let's wait and see how much micah Parson gets...I can see Dallas giving him something closer to 40 mil which would force teams like Buffalo to give Josh Allen a new contract at at least 60mil...who would argue that's value for money when everyone says JA doesn't have any support that would enable them to win big....in the NBA,in a few years some players add going to be making 80mil,absurd but it's all tied to the salary cap

    • @werb24

      @@vincentkariuki4227 I think it’s more about the replaceability. He’s a great player, but I don’t see him the way you do. I don’t see him as so unique that you can’t get comparable production from another player.
      In terms of parsons I’d much rather pay him. There are far fewer guys who can get to the QB at volume than guys who can catch the ball (again, not saying JJ isn’t great).

      JJ is not comparable to Addison and Diggs. Diggs was good in MN but didn't become the guy until leaving. JJ had b2b 1800 yard seasons under Zim in the same offense as Diggs. Addison is good but Jefferson still had more yards than him and he missed 7 games

    • @JPibbs2198

    • @werb24
      @werb24 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@JPibbs2198 Honestly, I don't agree with you. He is a great player, but he isn't 1/1. His stats are and he's definitely near the top of the league as a WR, my argument is that the position's value doesn't justify this type of contract. There are a lot of good to great WRs in the NFL and in the pipeline to the NFL. I personally believe you are better off replacing guys with younger and cheaper options so you can put money in positions where the marginal difference between premium and good is larger. If they were a team with a young guy like Herbert or Jackson (when they were on their rookie deals), where you could make the argument that they just really need a weapon to help them hit the next stage in their career I could see it. Then you can jump ship when he loses a step like the Bills did. But when you have team with a lot of holes with a rookie QB who was a marginal talent coming out, it's tough for me to agree with tying that much of the cap in a position where the difference between the best player and the 20th player at the position is so small. This is no knock on Jefferson at all.
