A HEARTBEAT 😂😂😂😂😂
Well done Chris 😂
I love Mike and Chris, but that was a good one. 🤣❤️
Florio flippin the bird when he scratched his forehead was comedy
You can't blame any player going after the bag after their rookie contract. It's their one shot to cash in because unless you're a QB you're not seeing a big 3rd contract
They have too get the biggest $$ 2nd deal or for others it's get to a team where you can start. Different ends of the spectrum.
@@SeanC_BKK Yes, you're correct... Some players are looking for playing time to showcase themselves for a bigger contract and the top guys are looking for the bag. In the end it falls back to money for most players and if you're a guy who's looking for a chance to start you won't be breaking the bank anyway
Aye if it's after their rookie contract you use to get better deals for players getting new contracts sooner... Like have two years left plus they can franchise you for several years then yes you should take less to get it now
You’re 💯 right
I feel like
QBs
O-line
D-line
Are the only positions that will get a 3rd contract.
QBs can play there best football at 35 WRs are falling apart by 31-32 running backs don’t even get 1 good contract
At 34-35 both QBs in O-line are playing in their primes.
Agreed, you can't blame anybody for prioritizing their bank account over a ring.
But don't pretend a WR HAS to take 28 million a year vs 22 million a year because they aren't getting another contract.
The average American goes thru 3 million dollars in an entire LIFETIME, and that's in America, one of the richest countries to ever exist.
Like I said, totally fine to prioritize the bag over the ring, but they don't HAVE to. They could make 1/4 of what they do now and still be well off if they were financially responsible
Mike, you’re talking the talk that we all need to hear. Owners risk nothing, the players risk it all and for what reason I don’t know, people feel sorry for the owners!
I know the players make ungodly money to play a game, ultraviolent game in football but I'll never understand how fans side with owners. I'll never understand how normal people ever take up for billionaires in general. These owners make enough money from just the TV rights to pay off the salary cap and then some. Then they charge 1,000 dollars for a family of 4 to get nosebleeds and make millions more every game in a stadium the fans most likely footed 75%ish of the bill for in tax $$.
Who feels bad for the owners? Someone has to do it. They provide the financials.
Owners often control media outlets. Dan Snyder for example, owned both DC sports radio networks. Owners have a lot more influence over media narratives than most people know. Look into the DeShaun Watson situation. All his accusers were referrals from the Texans, his accusers lawyer is neighbors with the McNair/Owner, the Texans paid settlement, Watson paid nothing. None of these alleged journalists looked to connect the dots or even question the circumstances.
Also players don't choose where they're drafted. Then they get could held hostage by a franchise tag at a chance to get their next $ (I get the franchise tag is good money, but I'm sure most players would prefer long-term security another team would certainly give them)
I root for the team, because when push comes to shove, the players will just go where they get the most money
Mike Florio you are a gift to the NFL world that they don’t want but need
Indeed and Agreed 👍
NOTICE HOW FLORIO GAVE SIMMS THE FINGER 5:36
Haha. Was a good dig 😅
It’s certainly easier to be a great QB with a great Wide Receiver and a great left tackle than it is without them.
Mike I am sorry to hear you were having health issues. I will keep you in my prayers! I continue to enjoy your content and I’m excited to know that you’re a fellow Vikings fan. Be blessed and keep up the great work!
Florio confirmed if he dies via heart attack it’s 100% on Chris simms and simms be like “good” lmao
Yup that’s why Tom Brady took less and has 7 rings and A Rod wanted every penny and got his best friend Adams basically kicked off the team and ended up with only 1 ring.
Florio going off today 😂😂😂love it
Raider Nation since 1967:
Great show guys!
Everyone wants certain players to take less money to benefit a specific team. But then say others should get the bag because “they are that good”, team success be damned. Don’t listen to the media. They all get paid by the owners.
I don’t blame any player for getting their bag .. again no other job in the world pressures you to take less so the “team/company” can win .. lmao
Exactly
An annual argument between you two this - always enjoyable. I understand Chris's point but am more down the side of Mike. Players get your $$$$
Can someone explain to me why the owners can’t take less of the pie? But the players should?
Have you heard of the salary cap? Most teams bump up against it.
Because the owner make the rules…that’s how it works when you own something, you are in control
@@billjohnson1111 thank you that’s my point and that’s why players should make the rules for themselves and their families not the team
@@markb3786 it’s a 52/48 split why can it be 50/50 split give more to the players ?
52 to 48 is insane that's a hell of a deal for players how are not putting out a nickel on any costs. You're out of your mind. Name me one other business that does this?
You guys are great! I love the back n forth. Hope it all works out for you Florio, the shows great!
No one should ever take Florios advice on football matters. He’s never played. He’s never been a part of a real team. In his mind it’s always players vs owner. Even though really it’s you and all your teammates and your coaches that genuinely care about you and want the best for you. Forget the owner. To consider it like a vendetta against the owners is to distract yourself from what it’s really about
Florio loves lying about this. He constantly encourages the guys he wants to win rings to take less like Brady so they can. Honestly gross how often he speaks out of both sides of his mouth on this issue. Especially considering Justin Jefferson is on his Vikings. I don’t hear him demanding JJ take every cent possible.
You nailed it. Florio was complaining bitterly about Mahomes and Kelce not being upset about their contracts. His poor Vikings have never won the SB.
He claims to be for the players but then demands the QB of his team never take a day off the entire season.
A West Virginian is ALWAYS RIGHT.
He literally said in this video “Justin Jefferson get everything” 😂
The second Florio ever senses that his cohost disagrees with him, he will pounce all over them and interrupt them and never let them finish their thought. such a selfish prick. Even though Simms is the actual knowledgeable one and should be the one doing the talking
Simms is not more knowledgeable than Florio. Both have their strengths and they work well because of that. Stop crying.
FLORIO LET SIMMS TALK JESUS CHRIST
Isnt the average length of an nfl career 4 years. They need the bag before injuries happen.
Why would owners care one bit about whether WR1 earns 30 million a year or 25 million?
It all adds up to the Cap one way or another.
Frankly all WRs should be earning 5-10 million less and Qbs 10-15 and that Cap redistributed to other positions. (in terms of fairness i mean).
If you don't like owners making money on the backs of players, the problem is the size of the Cap, not what one great player can force his team to pay him.
Justin Jefferson making 35 instead of 30 doesn't cost the owner anything, it's costing the guy getting cut to pay for that.
I believe the fans should help advocate for the players to get their fair share of the pie, because we love this game and the players deserve to be taken care of
He spent way longer talking about his heart than I thought he would lmao
I hope Mike is okay
Florio 💪🏼
Florio 💪🏿
FLORIO 🦾
It is up to the player to play their best and prove their contractual value. It is up to the team management to get the best results with the players they field. That said, if your team overpays you, it will impact your team, your game, and your victories.
Good on Chris for calling him out!
The owners are paying the same amount no matter what. A specific player getting paid more does not affect the owner at all. That’s the GM’s problem. That being said, the players as a whole certainly deserve a bigger piece of the pie, but that’s not what Florio is arguing.
If the money is falling from the sky for the NFL, why am I now being forced to pay a subscription fee to watch Monday Night Football?
You are not forced. You have options.
The NFL is full of greed bro why do you think they partnered with gambling companies
I've suffered from PVC for the last 15 years. Stress generally causes it. Feels like somebody punched me in the chest.
Rarely agree with Florio but damn did he nail it here.
mike florio thats a lot of grandstanding for a guy who told lamar jackson to get an agent so he can sit him down and tell him hes worth less
Players try and get as much $$ as you can - maybe it's slightly different for a great QB or elite player who will always get really well paid anyways (so a few bar here and there makes not so much difference to them ). Bulk of players get as much $$$ as you can, when you can. Careers are short.
Fek the owners
Careers are short, yet the average American spends 3 million dollars in a lifetime.
The athletes bickering over a 25 million vs a 28 million are just being plain old, normal human, greedy.
The idea they have to make 30 million or they're going to lose it all and have nothing to support their family with is a lie.
Even the average backup ends up getting paid more in a short timeframe than most Americans make their entire lives. Careers being short is a BONUS for them.
Maybe they should but “must” is incorrect. There’s no cap on ticket or beer prices but there is a cap on pay so I don’t even think they should. Taking less doesn’t give the players any control of how the team spends money except for their own contract. Maybe in the case of qbs it makes sense if they are in the elite group but otherwise it’s ridiculous to expect them to think about the teams budget.
I'm sure florio always gives his workers whatever they want. He is so full of it.
Yeah but Florio isn’t a multi billionaire with hundreds of millions more hidden offshore. People dont really grasp how much money a billion dollars really is. And it’s not like the players salary comes directly out of the owners bank account.
@spartan5285 FYI florio is worth tens of millions. Also I am not pro owner this is about the salary cap. When you pay out big money to some others suffer that is the hard cap world. Too bad football doesn't act like the other sports.
It’s not what about someone wants, year about the leverage they can negotiate. Either you can get what feel you deserve relative to your counterparts or you find someone willing to give it to you. Easy.
My problem with florios mindset when one player gets less means someone else gets more...so better for players as a whole
If the salary cap goes up the percentages of each position are just going to stay the same. If you really want win alot of rings you're still going to have to take less.
I wore one 10 yrs ago, and it is a pain. Currently have a loop recorder. I was passing out , vagalling they called it.
Team success be damn focus on the name on the back of the jersey not the one in front of
Trade Jefferson and build a complete team
Heck no. Pay him since JJ McCarthy is on a rookie deal. A QBs best friend is an elite receiver. Having Jefferson will be huge for McCarthy’s development.
chris getting personal after the tom brady jab. what a sensitive little baby!!
The problem the NFL is having is that they’re passing these player costs onto the fans. Ticket prices are going way up and all the games are being put on different Internet services that require subscriptions. Pretty soon the fans are going to get fed and stop paying for all this bullshit.
Mike deep in his whiny old woman bag today..idk how Chris does this 4 days a week
We need more of Florio in the hospital until it’s all over
That’s wild I’m 30 dealing with what I think is PVCs
Can someone tell me what they are exactly or how to properly diagnose them?
If anyone has any information about PVCs please let me know thanks 🙏
Didn't Burrow say that too then became the highest paid QB 😂
Florio wants you to get paid UNLESS you are not using a well known agent then you don’t deserve to get paid.
Players getting paid is not the issue. Players getting paid then kicking their feet up (i.e. Haynesworth) is the issue.
Mike please not the Dahmer glasses 👀😂
Florio is clearly not a numbers guy. This is a salary cap game. Quarterbacks and receivers getting more money is taking money away from other positions, not the owner. Easy math if you look at percentages of salary cap.
Seems like no one takes into account higher ticket prices and concessions for the fan.
Don’t go, lol. The game is great on an affordable large screen television.
I don’t get why ppl complain when they have a choice.
More money? The lowest contracts are life changing money
The players that want that max may not be all that concerned with winning. If you want to win, you leave some on the table so you can have a team around you. You're going to be rich either way.
defends the jab and no has cardiovascular issues praying for you man
As a Cowboys fan, I agree to get your bag at almost every position but QB. Dak wins a bowl with us, he go down as immortal. That alone is worth giving up 3 million you'd make back up double you win a bowl as a Cowboy.
I have PVCs. About 1 out of 10 people have it, some never knowing. For me, when I get them, it feels like heartburn. You are supposed to NOT stress out your heart unnecessarily. Excise is good. Caffeine is not.
I think I have PVCs what are they?
And how do they get diagnosed
@@dylanmartino7975 You will want to visit a cardiologist. They will at least want you for a couple visits where they listen to your heart, do a stress test via running on a treadmill, give you a heart monitor to wear for 24 hours like Mike Florio had, and report back their findings on whether you have it and if intervention is needed.
Typically intervention is not needed though it is good to know how severe the PVCs are and what options are available. The typical suggestion is to rarely ingest caffeine and to strengthen your heart via cardio.
Can't pay everyone within the constraints of the salary cap. "Go get yours!" means other guys won't get paid. That doesn't work when your team starts to bleed experienced talent... unless you are Patrick Mahomes
Exactly people bring up the hard salary cap the owners did that for themselves if winning was the motivation who the hell needed a salary cap
A lot of teams needed the cap especially when it was put in place, I'm not saying that MLB is in the exact same position as the NFL but I would say that a cap on baseball would allow more parity that's what the cap was about, now the NFL owners make crazy amounts of money so it's not the same, but teams like the chargers the Spanos family would never be able to keep up with the owners in Denver for example in what they can or are willing to spend on the roster. The way in the MLB the athletics can't spend what the dodgers or Yankees can spend.
@@bakedogg98 all valid but why then would I pressure players to take less money the owners have a 52/48
Why is in on J'amar Chase and Higgins to take less when Joe Burrow didn't take discount?
There's only one starting quarterback on a team. There are five lineman and five skill players that start. So the salary of those others should be one fifth on average of the quarterbacks.
Pat gets paid what he deserved. Others are taking too much.
So, for Florio Kirk Cousin is the GOAT! Freakin lawyers! 🤣🤣🤣
mike florio you got that vax heart
Joe is making 50 mil a year.... Tom Brady took less for years to give the Patriots flexibility and they won because of it. If anyone should take less, its the QB because they play the longest, and have the most visibility to maximize on endorsements
I disagree, if the top players take all the money then the guys that are only making a million or two stay there and can't get 3 to 5 million. These teams are still spending to the max of the salary cap . How does having the top two or three guys take a bigger share help out the players? We don't want the owners to keep the money we still want them to spend up to the top top of the salary cap. How is that them making any more money?
Doesn't the salary cap ensure a competitive league???
Or am I missing something 🤔
Mike Vick did something nefarious. And fans are not on the side of owners when they make Christmas cost us extra $$$$ for games that day.
Mike watching too much morning Joe. I love when he jumps on Rodgers as a strawman for conservatives like it ain’t clear what he’s doing.
U nailed it he didn't used to be like this.
It’s ridiculous that Florio is “Mr everything is a conspiracy” when it comes to the NFL, but the real world that would never happen 🤔
Florio's a complete clown
Rodgers deserves criticism. He was deliberately misleading about his vaccination status (yeah I’m basically immunized). And that goes for anyone else, liberal or conservative, who spread conspiracy theories during a pandemic.
@erikdayne5429 Well you can start with the government and that wet market tale they ran with lol
Florio sounds a little bitter speaking about Tom 😂
If you are Dak's age it is better to win than maximize a contract. First your numbers are going to be better with a winning team and he has additional contracts to worry about. Carr at Dak's age and Dak do not have a lot separating them, Carr's current age is about the age Dake will be looking for the next contract, given the winning consistency with Carr who wants him for that next contract. No one thinks of him as the way they looked at Brady more than 5 years older than him. He is a filler for a team like the Giants if they do not draft in the top 12 next year, try to get by and not get fired, and will be discarded with the coach if it does not work out, the winning QB at Carr's age is not a filler but your 5-year starter.
Who cares play for the team on the back of your jersey
NFL will be up to 25 Billion by 2025. No player should take a pay cut in any circumstance. Football careers are the most fragile in professional sports.
Florio is so wrong here. It's a salary cap league. If a player gobbles up tons of salary cap 'going to get his money' then thee is less money to pay other players on the same team! It's not like the owner keeps the extra money. The players already get half of the revenue from the league. The more the top 5% of players get paid, the more difficult it becomes for the other 95% to get paid.
Florio has watched that Kirk Cousins contract take the Vikings from 2017 NFC Championship game to Zimmer getting fired and still advocates to do it all over again????
Pure Cinema
Patrick didn't take less his contract just became outdated
Not the corporate overlord's lmao
So you’re saying Joe Montana and other qbs with multiple rings they are bad?
Florio will never understand that if the Bengals give $45 million to Burrow and $30 million to Chase, then there is $180 million left to spend on the remaining players. Sounds like a lot, but Jamar Chase currently makes $5 million and the remaining cap space is $23 million. So if the Bengals were to rip up the current contract and give Chase a new contract, someone is going to get cut or traded. Maybe multiple players.
Florio doesn't care he wants to virtue signal all day long
Sounds like a them problem. Will you take less at your job if you can go somewhere else and make more?
If your job ask you to take less money or take below market value. You would you do, we all know the answer
Florio is off his rocker, its clear he's never been on any kind of team except team me. Owners make the most money, and? What business under capitalism is this not the case? Players are employees, just like any other business model, they do the bulk of the work, make the product, put in the tough hours, make great money and carry on, just like all other businesses. If Tee Higgins wanted to take slightly less money to stay on a championship team with Chase and Burrow, its not like the owners benefit from this, the cap is already set this just helps the team. Forget the heart monitor we need a brain monitor for this guy.
cut out caffeine !! you're welcome
Mike is good, but he’d be 50% better just by yelling less.
Yep...., in an ego driven business, thanks for exhaustively dissecting the most obvious topic confronting professional sports today... aside from injuries & not discounting those who still believe themselves to be so endowed with talent, they are the team & thus should be Rogers-ed accordingly.
In the future, maybe the most successful GM's will have created an ego meter to incorporate into their drafting process in order to calculate the probability of retaining a player in the event they actually live up to expectations.
As a team & fanbase few things are more frustrating than living through the mistakes of a work-in-progress just for things to finally click in the final year of their contract as the next highest bidder swoops in to reap the full reward of all the time, patience, effort & frustrations expended by the original organization.
In a paradigm where the valuables are limited to money v. time it almost seems antithetical to invest more money in a player an organization will spend little to zero time or resources developing.
People are so jealous of athletes, that they lie to themselves talking about a player should take less money to help a billionaire..
Mike relax let the thing do its monitoring! You are blessed with good health care! You are always on the side of over paying everyone!
Simms is just the awhole lot of casshwipe. Mike has a heart, it really just decended lately. Please leave prescious mama's out of it.
Get as much as you can if you are a player because they fine the crap out of you for nothing
Man, Florio is so much a typical greedy PoS. This guy just never disappoints with his complete, anti team takes. The goal of every player I want on my team is to fucking win. Period. End of story.
Get that money, players!!!! Never help billionaires save money; they hire people for that.
Am I the only one who thinks Florio is by far the most annoying sports analyst?
Comrade Florio
WHAT TMZ has a Point !?
Maybe if you talk about, owners salaries & profits, as much as you talk about players salaries the FANS WOULDN'T be on owner side.
Of course most younglings are PABs who will accept anything shoved down their throat a long as there is some "RGB" Involved
(a.k.a. shiny electronic bobbles and trinkets)
Did he just slip him the bird?
Have fun paying for nfl tickets.
I hope everything works out with Mike and his heart issue. That being said you may need a brain scan. Most teams probably come close to the salary cap. The owners are spending that money. The players are taken away money from other players because you can only afford so much. If you raise the salary cap you're just going to raise the high end for the top players it's going to do very minimal for the lower end players.
Interruptive and twisted the conversation away from it's original intent and dynamic. In that way you were an annoying lawyer.
Where was the conspiracy mike meme after the medical device talk
If you got the qb and hes will to take a small cut if everyone on a team each took a small hit you could have more great players. But if you have a shit qb or no chance of a super bowl then get that bag the bigger the better
Yeah, you said quarterback and wide receiver all that money about the other 51 players on the team you gotta pay everybody not just a wide receiver overpay who is going to block that quarterback so he can get out you’re not thinking right Mike, you’re not right
Mike I usually like you quite a bit. This is not one of those. You are badgering, garrulous, and deaf. It is offensive to your partner in your own show. It borders on disrespectful.
