    LOVE them! So glad that you made it up there, we spent 4 hours, in the snow, with them back in April '19. It was a highlight of the trip, especially for my wife. Saw them in Kyoto as well, but not the same vibe, at all... need the snow and the onsen!

    • @TwosomeTravellers
      @TwosomeTravellers  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We couldn’t agree more!! They are just incredible. It really was a highlight of the trip without a doubt! We didn’t realise there was also one in Kyoto. But agree, the snow makes is magical!

    glad you guys popped up on my feed again. followed your Dolomite guide an year ago and it was awesome. The whole place is still like a dream to me an year after visiting. Heading to Japan(third time this year alone lol) again before year end and this time for more than a month. I had my itinerary roughly set up already but it's always good to watch proper and thorough video like what you have here.
    also just an idea, visit the Tohoku region in the winter if you feel like it. Places like Ginzan onsen, Zao snow monster, Aizu area(First Tadami River Bridge view!) are still a bit of untapped territory especially for western tourists due to its complexity in planning. Yeah people know of it maybe but they always ended up going somewhere easier. But then it's really not that bad once you look into it. You guys will certainly figure it out and can make extremely helpful and beautiful videos of these places.

    I went there early this year and I rented a car at Nagano station and stayed at a ryokan at yudanaka and enjoyed the onsen. Snow monkey park was a 5 minute drive and it was 90% foreigners. As a Japanese person who grew up abroad living in the US, it was definitely instagrammable but …. it wasn’t that impressive. I lived in Japan for years and I go back yearly and I finally checked it off the list in my 40s 😂I would recommend staying at yudanaka or shibu onsen for the night instead of a day trip.

    Japan's original country name "NIPPON”(Japan) means "the land under the sun" , but another name is "YAMATO(WA)” , meaning “Peacefully Harmony among People and Nature”.
    So Japan's name means “the Land under the Sun” and” the Land of "Great Harmony of People and Nature,”
    The history of Japan is very old, about 2,000 years since the Emperor's reign, but humans began to live in villages and communities in this island nation about 14,000 years ago, during “the JOMON pottery” culture.
    (That's 30,000 years ago, if you count the Neolithic period.)
    Surrounded on all sides by the sea and geographically isolated from the Eurasian continent in the Pacific Ocean, this island nation has a warm and humid climate and is blessed with abundant underground clear water resources, diverse vegetation, and fishery resources.
    For this reason, people have lived here for tens of thousands of years, enjoying nature and living in peace with it.
    However, while the natural environment of this island nation is rich, it is also harsh, with both light and dark sides.
    Since ancient times, the people of this land have lived in peace by respecting human harmony and working together as a group, and have shared and enjoyed the blessings of nature by overcoming many harsh and severe natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and typhoons by sharing wisdom and working together as a group.
    This is because this island nation has a harsh natural environment that cannot be overcome by the power of one individual.
    The ancient Japanese name of the country, "Yamato" or "Wa" (great harmony and peace)、 represents the desire and reality of people trying to survive in the unique natural environment of an island nation, which is different from the dry and stable land of the Eurasian continent.
    And it is in this ancient Japanese country name that the essence of Japanese culture and the source and secret of the emergence of a unique Japanese culture different from the cultures of other Asian countries on the continent are hidden.

    Is it a steep climb up with a lot of steps/stairs?

    • @TwosomeTravellers
      @TwosomeTravellers  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There’s actually not too many steps. The walk is mostly a small incline over a long distance. We recommend good footwear for winter, but we saw all ages walking from the bus stop to the Snow Monkey Onsen 🙏🏼😊

    • @TwosomeTravellers
      @TwosomeTravellers  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s not a horrendous incline, it’s more the ice on the roads / paths that could make it slightly tricky 🙏🏼 We wouldn’t want to advise incorrectly given your circumstance. Also congratulations! ☺️

      There are a couple sets of stairs. Being honest (and from memory) it doesn’t look very wheelchair friendly sadly. During the cold season it can get rather icy too.

    May I know if the 2 days snow monkey pass is worth it even if Snow monkey is the only itinerary you have on that (single) day?
    or would it be cheaper if we booked the bus and entry ticket separately?

    • @TwosomeTravellers
      @TwosomeTravellers  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey there, it's more expensive to pay separate than it is to pay for the 2 day pass. If you pause the video at 02:55 you will see a sign and at the bottom it explains it is 400 YEN more expensive booking everything separate ☺.

      For sure. Any Japanese city is child friendly. We would comfortably say the monkey forest is also. But be mindful of the walk between the car park to the forest itself, especially during the winter season, with ice and snow.

    In Japan, ``nature is our friend'' since the Jomon period, at least. Therefore, we need to deal with excessive pets. I also dress them up.In the future, if some tourist chases away the monkeys or harms them, the monkeys' utopia will disappear in an instant.
