NEVER apply solder to the pads first. Use a small spade solder tip. DO NOT use a pointy solder tip. Hold the SMT part onto the pads. Apply one tiny drop of LIQUID flux to one lead and pad. Clean solder tip and apply a tiny amount of solder to the tip. Then touch the tip to the joint. The capillary action of the liquid flux will quickly heat up the joint and suck in the solder. The solder joint will be perfect every time. I show how to do this on my channel (Amiga 1200 recap video). This is the correct method for soldering SMT parts, like resistors, diodes, capacitors, etc. And this is how we do it in the electronics industry. 😃
I think you installed those headers upside down, thats why they stick out too much for your liking. It is no problem for the function... One more think, I do like your videos and hope youtube is paying you well, but the video was nearly unwatchable due to too many adverts.
Thanks for the feedback. I thought I'd fixed the adverts and restricted them to one at the beginning and only one in the middle. I must have allowed this google to autoset the adverts on this video. Appreciate you letting me know. I'm still figuring out the workflow to get these set up properly.
@@powerofvintage9442 I watched more videos from different youtubers, and all full of adverts. So looks like youtube is making some shady things in the background, again. Hope they will reward you, at least. And you are welcome.

Thanks for the tip! I'm always up for learning better ways...I'll use the spade tip and the flux next time.
Loving the Amstrad PCWs in your pre-roll! ❤
Awesome work! Let’s keep our old systems alive!
Thanks and I agree!
great vid mate, cheers.
Hi! Where can we buy the kit? Can't find it. Thanks for the video
I found mine on eBay I believe, but I don't see anyone selling kits at the moment there. www.eltradec.eu/index.php/en/project-acsi2sd-en
Ok, but how about some benchmarks, transfer rates, stuff like that?
I can take a look comparing a few different hard drives. The video was long enough already 😁

Holy COW!! I just reviewed the details and Google had placed 6 mid-roll ads. I think I fixed it with just one mid-roll ad. Thanks!
