First thing I note is you ditched the old RAM expansion for a new one. Me, I like those not really for having more than 512K, but for the power consumption.
@CoCoNutBob always love when it comes to the CoCo. What I lack is time, lol. Well, and a CoCo3 I'm willing to hack on. I need to pick one off eBay sometime when there's a broken one for less than $250...
Great job Bob! You've inspired me to make some changes to my coco3... i got some mercedes silver paint for refreshing my model 3, and have been on the fence about maybe making my coco3 look closer to my original coco1. Now i'm definitely going to do that. I really like that gotek integration too. What's the part no. on that encoder you used? Other questions: Where's the joystick button? And did you do anything with the channel selector switch in the back? I see it's still even though you removed the modulator.
Thanks, it sounds like we are thinking along similar lines ;-) There are other encoder wheels I've discovered since... search Aliexpress for EVQW encoder. So far I don't have joystick buttons in the lid... which means I can only play Polaris with it :D (works with Color FOG, as there are keyboard controls for everything.) I've contemplated using the encoder wheel press for that, but not sure that would be a good idea. I have something cool in mind, not just bolt-in pushbuttons. Currently no purpose for the channel switch on this machine... open to ideas :) Cheers Bill, hope to see you next CoCoFest!
lol Of course! I was just so done with editing this mostly unscripted video... Don't worry, it'll be seen in upcoming videos with plenty of action shots.

That's a definite Franken-CoCo. Awesome work, as always, Bob.
Thanks Bian! It's a true labor of love!
