When reading the title of this video I thought to myself; "wouldn't it be funny if it was just a 5 minute long video describing how all of the buttons do absolutely nothing and there isn't really a secret bomb ending?" I was not disappointed. Or, I guess I was, kinda.
I thought it was very interesting when you were explaining how you were not Stanley and proceded to go to the top of the map. Really got me thinking, what if they did put a normally unreachable button to exit the room, or really, any room for that matter. It would be mind numbing to find out there would be more possibilites and branches in paths when you go outside the set game boundries.
People have literally scoured the Games files to find any extra voice files or anything pertaining to a secret ending such as that, and nothing was found. The Reddit posts saying theres still a final secret to be found is just the Dev's being trolls XD
I spent several hours making a fully labeled hand-drawn top-down diagram of the room, I listed out all the "clue messages" and the images that accompany them. I labeled the diagram buttons by color and symbol, and then used it to try and form a button "order" to figure out what each colored button's "name" is.... Finally, I said - forget it, I'll cave and look it up. What an amazing game that only after seeing someone break apart the code do I believe it's not possible. Bless you, haha!
Thank you! That was interesting to read. Mind you, if you play the Ultra Deluxe version, I have heard that it is in fact somehow possible to do some things that I said in this video they are not possible. I haven’t played Ultra Deluxe, so I don’t know to what extent it is different now.
It’s interesting how much detail the developers put into this one room. What really surprised me was the catwalk at the top - there’s no way to see the doors without cheats, yet they’re still there.
I love how this is just a really elongated version of "Yeah, you can't escape, everything is useless and a decoy to try and trick you into thinking you might be able to escape, but you can't, have a nice day, fuck off" He even sounds dead inside this entire video xD
quincy29125, the accursed Google+-TH-cam frankenstein monster does not let me reply directly to your comments for some reason, so I hope you see my reply here. No, I do not know how to get the impossible achievement aside from using the _u console command. None of the maps, including the hidden maps, seem to include a trigger for that command. Regarding the charge monitor going up, I don't know what you saw. The charge monitors are called "countdowntopscreen2", and the only two situations where those screens change are when you hit the failsafe button (the screens flash through various things), and when the global timer elapses 233 seconds after pressing the On button, at which point the monitors show the text "Good bye employee 427".
The game prevents typing _u directly from the console, much like it does with tsp_reload. I have not tried it, but I would presume it will allow it if bounced through a command object, such as: ent_fire cmd command _u This would be much simpler than trying to work with the ~ problem.
Did you check the museum ending map for anything else? I'm asking because in the museum map there is a countdown desk for the countdown ending, so you might find something on that
"Stanley cannot jump and Stanley cannot climb, but I am not Stanley, and I am curious." But Stanley can climb. Other than that, I had a good kick out of this comment.
If you have an open doors command active and you open the red double doors at the top of the stairs before choosing to turn the mind control on or off, it closes the doors to the mind control switch, not allowing you to progress.
Thanks, Bisqwit for this video explaining all the possible, even hacked solutions to this room, and now I realize it is not possible to stop the explosion, no matter what.
You, my good sir, must have a lot of experience in self-control (I've been reading the comments... goodness, if we knew how to prevent people from behaving like that, the world would be amazing). I applaud you.
Thank you! I try to answer the sometimes slightly discourteous, blunt and rude questions in deadpan serious and polite manner. While it is disputable whether that kind of communication qualifies as art, I believe it works as comedy at least. A way to turn a nasty situation into a pleasant one.
…pondered Stanley, perplexed by the seemingly impossible conundrum. Determined to find answers, he reset the game and began a new adventure, vowing to never touch the bucket again, just to catch a glimpse of the experience so far denied from him.
@@Bisqwit Well yeah that was his first playtrough but then... THE BUCKET! Have you played with the bucket? There was no bomb, there was birds, BIRDS Stanley can you imagine? If only you'd chosen the bucket...
People here trying to say that there's a escape. No, there is not. You choose to activate the Mind Control Facility, now you'll have to face it. This game is not like Portal, that you can solve puzzles. There's no puzzle. It's about making choices. You can choose to live or die, it's simple. Ok, you died one time, you're going to try again, pressing the button to activate the bomb, to find a away to "survive". Well, if you want to survive, why don't you just deactivate the machine at the beginning? It's simple, you can choose. At the end of the bomb timer, the narrator says: "Will you cling desperately to your frail life, or will you let it go peacefully? Another choice! Make it count." You choose to die, now face it, let it go, peacefully. Or you can just restart the game, or quit. That is the only way.
I love the singsong voice you use when explaining that the umpteenth set of buttons does nothing. It's like you take an almost perverse joy in crushing hopes and dreams. Well done.
SirHimerik Thank you! Now that you say it, I think you might be onto something. But trust me that's just to fit the theme of this game, not a general sign of my personality. :-)
I found an escape. Well "found" might be a bit misleading. I physically edited the map to make the code 1-2-3-4-5 teleport you to the "Freedom" ending. I know, this is not legitimate by means of actually in the game, but I grew tired of not being able to do anything. I did the same thing with "Escape" ending in redstair. I just took the ending from portal 2 (the cutscene) and linked it. There's a rediculous amount of lag though. I think it may be that TSP doesn't operate on the portal 2 engine. Dev console lights up with countless errors, and screen artifacts, but atleast I have an ending now.
thank you! i spent quite a few hours and many pages in my notebook trying to figure this all out. it's a relief to no longer feel like i must be missing something, if i only tried this variation, that one, just as the narrator says haha. great game.
Thanks for putting this together and doing a thorough job of it too. I tried a few times to figure out the puzzle in this room, but like most things in the game, it's all about subverting your expectations.
Glad I only tried three different times before deciding if i should look it up. Thanks for the video, though somehow i figured this was going to be the outcome. There are a lot of buttons in that orom.
Thank you so much. I was mapping out the room and trying to figure out if there way to shut it down or escape through that door. About 2 hours later I gave up and decided to look for help.
Nice, looking into the map entities is a smart move. Piecing it all together can be tricky, but it can be done. It's just like a scripting language. Nice work.
You can escape. Go out the way you came using the console to unlock doors, Teleport down to the monitor room, (very important) click the light bulb button, open a few more doors and run out to the museum ending where the female narrator saves your bacon. You'll have just enough time before the game disables the countdown. Commands used Teleport: bind x "ent_teleport player" Unlock and open: bind tab "ent_fire !picker unlock; ent_fire !picker open" Crosshair: Crosshair 1 Bark (absolutely necessary )
Wow, i was searching if you could escape that bomb room in stanley's parable and found this video. Then i was like "hmm the guy sounds like bisqwit". Than after video was finished i looked at the author, and ... :D
How nice that you can recognize me by voice :-) Even nicer if I knew who you are. But yeah, I do so many different things that you can run into me in many different contexts.
+MrPinbert That's the point. There is no puzzle. There is just the inevitable big BOOM as poor Stanley gets blown into confetti of bone shrapnel, along with everything else in half a kilometer radius.
+Annie Trinity Not sure what the point of your comment is though! Is it a reply to something? Was there a term 'thesis statement' used somewhere? Or was such a thing missing in my video? I don't get it.
The third one. This video is funny, but if I had known it was just confirming there is no way to stop the bomb, something I already knew, I wouldn't have sat through the whole thing. I just kind of wished the guy had said "I've gone through the code and there's no way to stop the bomb" at the beginning.
This made me laugh pretty hard. I had already reached this conclusion since the narrator more or less tells you you can't escape outright. Still to hear in such detail about all the red herrings in such a tone of voice is hilarious. Nice work.
That was very interesting! I had no idea that room was programmed like that. The one secret you found way up high was pretty cool, too. I kind of wish the programming team had done something fun to punish/reward people using console commands though. That would've been great! And as a sidenote, I really like your voice.
Thanks Joseph Collins! They did punish people for using the sv_cheats command, but not the other commands. Not being able to use sv_cheats in the standard game almost prevented me from publishing this video at all (for recording the demo requires the use of the host_framerate command, that is barricaded behind the prohibited sv_cheats setting), but I managed to do that eventually by tampering enough with the demo version.
DaniXks Sorry to disappoint you, but it really does happen that people make videos about same topics. I had no idea about your video until now. I'm sorry if you feel it's unjust that this one has got more views. That's just how Internet works. Viewerships are random. And if you really insist that I copied your video, watching the beginning of my video carefully, as well as reading the annotations, should reveal that there really was an independent process of studying the map file that motivated making this video.
I don't know what to believe right now. I know it can happen and I understand that might be just be a coincidence but I'm just a bit mad because of the views, that's all. Glad you got so many from it. nicely done... :) Anyways, it's been 1 year, so I think it's too late for anything right now. I'm sorry too If I annoyed you.
Thanks for figuring this out. I'm a completionist and try not to use console to get away with things. but I HAD to make sure there was no way. Its a shame really hoped there was but it is what it is. thanks for the video.
Bisqwit I know, I was just making a joke. In all seriousness, though, it's a lot smarter to investigate rather than assume, and your video does just that. I've only seen playthroughs of the game, courtesy of Markiplier, but I do appreciate that you would go to these lengths to directly show people what would happen if they tried anything, even if nothing does happen. It must have taken a lot of patience.
wow i mean really, how can people say he didnt show secrets or didnt do what title says or complain about someones tone or language, jesus people he hacked the damn thing, showed everything nice and slowly, did it in a language 50-70% of the world uses and did it pretty damn well.. wtf peeps throw a guy a bone huh? you know damn well if he just said it has no ending everyone would fraking complain it was to short and you didnt show it. i for one thank you, no more feaking running around having a heart attack trying to not die again, and again, and again, lol
I think through the whole story/endings The Narrator is the antagonist and if you obey him he'll be a friend, but if you disobey him he'll try killing/being rude to you.
That's cool you were able to fix the failsafe button. Shame it was broken, there was another tiny little joke locked in there with "failsafe failure". Thanks for showing it. I love this game.
There is one way to escape, you can use the portal console commands to make a portal back to the entrance area and then flee down the path to the museum ending instead.
hyphz Even if you make a portal into some other section, the explosion timer will still be running, and will kill you. You can escape by making another map load before the explosion, but with console commands you can jump directly into any map you want right away, such as with "map redstair". With console commands you can do pretty much anything. Including load a quicksave. But if you indeed use instruments outside the game logic itself, you might also use them to quit the game, most definitely "escaping" the detonation. But Stanley won't come with you.
Ricardo Martin Because I come from a language background you don't recognize, and thus my accent is alien to you, and you've played Portal a lot. Your brain associates the unfamiliar accent with whatever sound it happens to remind you most, and GLaDOS has a big spot on your memory pool of sounds to choose from. It also helps that this game is based on Portal 2 engine and most of its graphical assets come from Portal 2, further influencing the way your memory works.
Bisqwit Wow. Add some sardonic humor to that drivel and you could be her twin! Are you the voice-over actor for GlaDOS in whatever country your native language is?
With some 5-6 million speakers, Finnish is unfortunately usually not seen as an important language to dub for, and Finns are pretty happy with subtitles. Such is also the case for all of Valve's games, including the Portal series. Thank you for the sentiment. Sardonic humor is unfortunately not my forte.
chaoticgrapefruit It still happens. The game immediately switches into the seriousroom map and the cheats will not be activated. It is disputable whether this counts as escaping the detonation though! For you could also do e.g. "map redstair" to jump to the escape pod ending; similarly "escaping" the detonation.
Thank you! I train nearly every day. If I was a lot younger and lived in e.g. USA or UK, maybe I would learn the natural way to pronounce English faster. Mine is just an imitation, but getting there.

My mind... Has been blown.
People have literally scoured the Games files to find any extra voice files or anything pertaining to a secret ending such as that, and nothing was found. The Reddit posts saying theres still a final secret to be found is just the Dev's being trolls XD
So, this entire video basically tells us that none of the buttons do anything and none of the doors lead anywhere. IN FIVE MINUTES.
Thrano Incorrect. The buttons do not do nothing. Some of them do do things. It's just that none of those things help Stanley escape.
Bisqwit Well played sir. Well played.
Bisqwit For what it's worth, I laughed, the video matches the tone of the game rather well.
Thrano dude.. it pissed me off!!! I GOT SERIOUSLY LIVID! for real!
Thrano 2 and a half if you watch at 2 times speed.
There IS a way to stop the countdown.
Quit the game and start it again.
GG
OHHH MAAA GAT. best solution ever
8/8
Genius.
The only way to win is to not play at all...
4:22 "more doors"
One does not simply
walk into more doors? Turns out Google search finds plenty of jokes made of this sentence.
tl;dr
Every button is useless, every possible exit is either fake or cannot be opened.
HA! I KNEW IT! There is no way to solve the puzzle! Thank you, man, now I can get some sleep. :)
Hahahahahahaha
Here he shows you that these buttons do not do anything at all.
But what about this one? Nope, it is destined to fail.
Oh very good video Mr Bisqwit...
OR PERHAPS ARE YOU ACTUALLY THE NARRATOR USING A VOICE CHANGER TO MAKE US THINK THERE'S NO ESCAPE?!
I'm onto you...
That makes so much sense it shouldn't even be legal.
O MY GOD IT ALL MAKES CENCE NOW so much so I cant even spell XDDD I totally get what he is saying o.o
And your grammar makes no sense XD
SHOW YOURSELF KEVIN!
Woah, your voice! Are you G-Man?
Rise and shine, Mr. Stanley Rii-ise and shine...
I have honestly hard time understanding how anyone would make that association...
it's not your voice but how you talk. It's kinda cool
CorruptedMaterial Indeed, it's sounds cool. I didn't wanted to offend Bisqwit, sorry if I did.
MrModez :3 Not at all. Thanks for the compliment, though odd.
Your voice works so well with this explanation! I love it
It’s interesting how much detail the developers put into this one room. What really surprised me was the catwalk at the top - there’s no way to see the doors without cheats, yet they’re still there.
thank you for pressing all of the buttons for me very kind of you
I love how this is just a really elongated version of "Yeah, you can't escape, everything is useless and a decoy to try and trick you into thinking you might be able to escape, but you can't, have a nice day, fuck off"
He even sounds dead inside this entire video xD
quincy29125, the accursed Google+-TH-cam frankenstein monster does not let me reply directly to your comments for some reason, so I hope you see my reply here. No, I do not know how to get the impossible achievement aside from using the _u console command. None of the maps, including the hidden maps, seem to include a trigger for that command.
Regarding the charge monitor going up, I don't know what you saw. The charge monitors are called "countdowntopscreen2", and the only two situations where those screens change are when you hit the failsafe button (the screens flash through various things), and when the global timer elapses 233 seconds after pressing the On button, at which point the monitors show the text "Good bye employee 427".
so i just have to type _u in the console?
i tried it it doesn't work, how did you noclip?
Hey i found out how to get the unachievable achievement it's here
wwwxthemutegamerxcom/guide/the-stanley-parable/unachievable-achievement/
The game prevents typing _u directly from the console, much like it does with tsp_reload. I have not tried it, but I would presume it will allow it if bounced through a command object, such as: ent_fire cmd command _u
This would be much simpler than trying to work with the ~ problem.
Did you check the museum ending map for anything else?
I'm asking because in the museum map there is a countdown desk for the countdown ending, so you might find something on that
Well, obviously, to get a door open with a red glowing circle above it, you have to scream loud enough to activate it.
There is exactly one way to escape this ending without dying. It involves a button on the keyboard marked "esc".
"Stanley cannot jump and Stanley cannot climb, but I am not Stanley, and I am curious."
But Stanley can climb.
Other than that, I had a good kick out of this comment.
There just aren't ladders in the remake.
Well, yes. But there are ladders in the generator room of the old Source port.
Re-comment! This is a scam video!
No way to end this explosion! :) This vid is a joke. Enjoy watching, but only to laugh.
Sure, the buttons can't stop the explosion. But what a way to go, surrounded by buttons, pushing buttons, ah.. buttons...
+SquareWaveHeaven The only difference to the Buttons ending is that there's a _dead_line to this ending.
When you press the "On" option with the bucket, something different and much less dark happens, I won't spoil. But buckets are the key to this game
This video was made before Stanley Parable Deluxe Edition was even announced. The original didn’t have a bucket.
@@Bisqwit How can one play this game without his bucket!?
3:55 "But I am not Stanley, and I am cuuuurious."
Dude I swear to god your accent is the best thing ever.
Your completely calm voice talking over [the narrator gleefully anticipating your panic] is hilarious.
Someone should mod the game so there is some way to stop the bomb and infuriate the narrator more
You'd need the narrator to record actual dialogue for that, so that's never going to happen
Or you could recycle other lines.
+Lucas Lambregtse or get someone else to do them
+thunderstudent I never knew how much I wanted this until now
+Lucas Lambregtse The narrator is actually really easy to get a hold of
I found an escape.
1:24 "Failsafe Failure" LOL
There is actually one way to excape the room, restart the game, it's that easy
i can't believe i spent 2 hours trying to solve this lol, i could have sworn once i try the charge went up by 1
thank you! i spent quite a few hours and many pages in my notebook trying to figure this all out. it's a relief to no longer feel like i must be missing something, if i only tried this variation, that one, just as the narrator says haha. great game.
"It opens not either." - best line!
Normally id say there has to be a possibility to stop the nuke, but not in this game.
Thanks for putting this together and doing a thorough job of it too. I tried a few times to figure out the puzzle in this room, but like most things in the game, it's all about subverting your expectations.
Man telling you about buttons and that they do nothing: the video
I had a good giggle anyway
It was very smart of them to put those buttons there. I wasted so much time in that room, trying to find a solution. Thanks for posting this.
I still keep beliving the escape pod was designed for the bomb ending....
Glad I only tried three different times before deciding if i should look it up. Thanks for the video, though somehow i figured this was going to be the outcome. There are a lot of buttons in that orom.
this really claers up people saying "OMG THERES A WAY TO STOP THE BOMB" no. no there is not. stanley is screwed. thanks for making it c:
Thank you so much. I was mapping out the room and trying to figure out if there way to shut it down or escape through that door. About 2 hours later I gave up and decided to look for help.
luckily I wasted "only" one hour to figure out the code before looking for help...
Nice work! That's how analysis should be made.
Thank you!
Nice, looking into the map entities is a smart move. Piecing it all together can be tricky, but it can be done. It's just like a scripting language. Nice work.
How to sum this up? You hit the yes button? So you're screwed ^^
You can escape. Go out the way you came using the console to unlock doors, Teleport down to the monitor room, (very important) click the light bulb button, open a few more doors and run out to the museum ending where the female narrator saves your bacon. You'll have just enough time before the game disables the countdown.
Commands used
Teleport: bind x "ent_teleport player"
Unlock and open: bind tab "ent_fire !picker unlock; ent_fire !picker open"
Crosshair: Crosshair 1
Bark (absolutely necessary )
Wow, i was searching if you could escape that bomb room in stanley's parable and found this video. Then i was like "hmm the guy sounds like bisqwit". Than after video was finished i looked at the author, and ... :D
How nice that you can recognize me by voice :-) Even nicer if I knew who you are. But yeah, I do so many different things that you can run into me in many different contexts.
I came for secrets but stayed for bisqwit's voice
I really wish there was a way to solve this puzzle.
+MrPinbert That's the point. There is no puzzle. There is just the inevitable big BOOM as poor Stanley gets blown into confetti of bone shrapnel, along with everything else in half a kilometer radius.
how about makign a mod so it can get solved?
there is a solution. you have the press the white buttons in a certain order
I can't help it, if you don't read annotations or video descriptions.
The only part left unchecked in the video was the trapdoor, but most likely won't do anything either.
Thesis statements: They let your audience know what the point of your video is.
+Annie Trinity What's the fun in following research, if you jump straight to the conclusions?
Bisqwit I dunno, ask your professor.
But what if I am my own professor?
2:12 You forgot that after the 24-second timer and you wait a little, the screens say "GOODBYE EMPLOYEE 427"
Yeah, I did. It was shown in the video anyway!
Your voice is awesome!
Great video!
Mood is astoundingly fitting
Thank you for this video. It has proven that it's the room that is flawed rather than my combinatorial calculus abilities.
No it's a moral you can't get out of every situation you come across even if you have hope there's not always a failsafe.
except I said that in a video I did 1 month before this one...he copied it and I just realised
DaniXks Sorry to disappoint you, but it really does happen that people make videos about same topics. I had no idea about your video until now. I'm sorry if you feel it's unjust that this one has got more views. That's just how Internet works. Viewerships are random.
And if you really insist that I copied your video, watching the beginning of my video carefully, as well as reading the annotations, should reveal that there really was an independent process of studying the map file that motivated making this video.
lord vegeta DaniXks Bisqwit Why are you replying to my comment though?
I don't know what to believe right now. I know it can happen and I understand that might be just be a coincidence but I'm just a bit mad because of the views, that's all. Glad you got so many from it. nicely done... :) Anyways, it's been 1 year, so I think it's too late for anything right now. I'm sorry too If I annoyed you.
Thanks for figuring this out. I'm a completionist and try not to use console to get away with things. but I HAD to make sure there was no way. Its a shame really hoped there was but it is what it is. thanks for the video.
The broom closet is the best ending XD
BISQUIT PLZ DO VIDEO ON BROOM CLOSET ENDING SECRETS.
Thank you for using a developer console and checking all the buttons. We really appreciate it.
It would've been quicker to make a four-second video with "You're Fucked" in big bold letters displayed dead center of the screen.
Maybe, but it would convince nobody. Nobody would even watch it. I know I wouldn't.
Bisqwit
I know, I was just making a joke.
Yeah, I tried that whole secret code thing and it didn't work. Nice to know that it wasn't just me screwing up.
wow i mean really, how can people say he didnt show secrets or didnt do what title says or complain about someones tone or language, jesus people he hacked the damn thing, showed everything nice and slowly, did it in a language 50-70% of the world uses and did it pretty damn well.. wtf peeps throw a guy a bone huh? you know damn well if he just said it has no ending everyone would fraking complain it was to short and you didnt show it. i for one thank you, no more feaking running around having a heart attack trying to not die again, and again, and again, lol
I think through the whole story/endings The Narrator is the antagonist and if you obey him he'll be a friend, but if you disobey him he'll try killing/being rude to you.
so guess what.. matpat you cant do it XD
That's cool you were able to fix the failsafe button. Shame it was broken, there was another tiny little joke locked in there with "failsafe failure". Thanks for showing it. I love this game.
*I liked the part when the buttons were useless*
Why does this guy's voice delivery remind me of GlaDOS?
Ricardo Martin Because I come from a language background you don't recognize, and thus my accent is alien to you, and you've played Portal a lot. Your brain associates the unfamiliar accent with whatever sound it happens to remind you most, and GLaDOS has a big spot on your memory pool of sounds to choose from. It also helps that this game is based on Portal 2 engine and most of its graphical assets come from Portal 2, further influencing the way your memory works.
Bisqwit
Wow.
Sardonic humor is unfortunately not my forte.
brilliant video, your tone and timing match the game perfectly :)
of course, the results of your exploration do too...
Thank you! It was not unintentional to match them.
What if you do the sv_cheats 1?
If the command "sv_cheats 1" is entered, the game server automatically executes the command "map seriousroom" and disregards the sv_cheats.
Bisqwit No, I mean if you are in the bomb room.
chaoticgrapefruit It still happens. The game immediately switches into the seriousroom map and the cheats will not be activated.
It is disputable whether this counts as escaping the detonation though! For you could also do e.g. "map redstair" to jump to the escape pod ending; similarly "escaping" the detonation.
Thank you so much for clarify any possibility that I had and that I would have.
nice 666 likes you got there satan...
Says 671 here.
it said 666 for me :3
Dante Bettencourt for me its 871 :/
i am epicness guess its risen a little since ive posted that comment :P
Satan doesn't exist. Like any god.
You see this button? it does nothing
oh I almost forgot u see these 6 buttons? They does nothing
Yes we are free we are free *cough* there's nothing here
That feeling when you're trying to solve the bomb ending but you get 30 seconds of unskippable ads and die.
You're Finnish? Honestly couldn't tell.. I notice a foreign accent, but otherwise your english is very good.
Thank you! I train nearly every day. If I was a lot younger and lived in e.g. USA or UK, maybe I would learn the natural way to pronounce English faster. Mine is just an imitation, but getting there.
Bisqwit Your voice is perfect for this video, the way you keep saying 'this button is useless, or these buttons do not do anything at all... its tone and speed gives a creepy side which parallels with the scene. Pure poetry man!
To sum up: there is no way to turn off a timer?
this video was art! beautifully done sir
The fact he makes a commentary about a secret ending while talking over the narrator lol
Actually the numbered buttons do do something and that something is a emergency exit you need to enter the right combo and hit the big red button at 0:08:XX
So the secret is… there is no secret. Cool
