    Regardless of of factory ecu relearn it's still going to be running lean and not optimal for the current exhaust. UPMAP T800 would be your best bet with a GCorse Map, It's easy and you can do it your self in minutes. Just select a map for 21 E5 US model guzzi with slip-on and with or without baffle. It will make the bike run cooler/better throttle response/ more power

    Thanks for the info - i have exactly the same 2021 V7 Special with longer Mistral pipes ( with DB killers fitted ) - before i had the first service i had a flat spot or hesitation at about 3800 RPM on level ground with no throttle change - after the first service and ECU factory update that completely disappeared - bike runs really well now

    I experienced both ways: DB-in which is nice but not enough and DB-out which is wonderful but too loud and found that the third way, ordering Racing DB killer's s from Mistral is the best way, engine is running well and the sound is in between.

    My dealer has a dyno and will remap to run baffle-less for $500 no problem.
    Since I don't have any experience with remapping ECU's my best choice is to trust their expertise, since they do all my maintenance on the bike anyway.
    Also had a ECU update done @6200 maint interval and was told it had to do with ABS system.
    Bike sounds awesome with baffles in but I like how it sounds without them even better!
    FYI: Have had zero issues with baffles in and installed them the same day after run in service.

    If you’re noticing more heat, that may be a cause for concern. If I was in your place, I would try to get confirmation directly from Guzzi in Italy, just to be sure. I’d tend to trust Mistral, just cause they’ve had a long association with Guzzi, but better safe than sorry.
    My understanding is that modern air cooled engines run really lean due to emissions standards. I’ve been told that if you put a free flowing exhaust on one, and the ECU doesn’t compensate for it properly, you can be running hotter than you should be, accelerating wear on the engine.
    This has been a concern of mine, as I have a free flowing exhaust on my Enfield. All the commonly accepted knowledge is that they’ve got a learning ECU, and adapt accordingly. However, a few sources I have seen claimed they only “learn” within the differences that might expect to be encountered with the stock set up.
    The joys of technology, eh? Maybe there is still something to be said for “simply” tuning a carburetor!

    • @dreamreaver23
      @dreamreaver23  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree with you on the carb statement lol. As for the extra heat, it is very minor, also hard to be sure as I only felt it coming in the air around my ankles, could have been from the road, it has been triple digits the past few days here, and when we ride in the evening the road is still plenty hot. I will keep an eye on it though and give some updates

    Good info. I love the sound of the Mistral mufflers but I prefer the looks of the stock exhaust. I guess an exhaust change is something I'll have to ponder as I get more familiar with my bike?

    Hello !!
    Merci pour ta video !
    Je viens de m’offrir les Mistral longs pour ma V7 spécial de 2024.
    Je compte les utiliser avec les db Killer.
    Tu penses qu’il faut aussi débrancher la batterie pour ça ?
    Ou c’est juste si on utilise les mistral sans db Killer ?
    Merci beaucoup !

      Always worth a try, not sure what your exhaust volume regulations are in NZ, or how strict they are about it, but this will definitely put your volume up to a noticeable level. something to keep in mind.

    The mistral don't work even with the baffles in my bike after a couple of hundred kms started running badly at 3000 rpm put on the original exhaust and it was fine the mistral are great mufflers but you need a remap disconnecting the battery will only reset it to its original map it will not compensate for a freer flowing mufflers!

    • @dreamreaver23
      @dreamreaver23  ปีที่แล้ว

      hmm, this is something i will keep an eye on. at this point i have put around 2200 miles on the bike with the mistrals on, and haven't noticed any type of feel of the bike running badly. good heads up buddy.

  • @ChristophePeytier

    Guzzi dealers in France are saying fitting Mistral will void the warranty, and only Arrow are officially authorised. Do you have this issue in the US ?

    • @elio8119
      @elio8119 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is bs, my dealer in Romania sold me a pair of Mistral they put it themself on the bike and I still have the warranty available.

    • @ChristophePeytier
      @ChristophePeytier ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@elio8119 Well, it's in between: I checked with another Guzzi dealer, and they said "send us a picture of the bike before the Mistral". If anything happens, we won't tell you have Mistral. So, I think there is the "formal posture" which is that indeed Mistral exhausts will void the warranty, and then there is the pragmatic day-to-day behavior...which is that the local dealer will close their eyes.

    • @ChristophePeytier
      @ChristophePeytier ปีที่แล้ว
