    Just finished the mod, and wow, it’s a game changer for so little $$. Your explanation was spot on and so easy to do. Just a bit of elbow grease when grinding out the exhaust to widen the gap. I’ll most likely be buying the baffles in your subsequent video to tamp down the sound a bit, but I’m gonna enjoy the rumble for a bit. Thanks a lot for the tutorial.

    Well we share the same common mod that has worked on countless bikes over the years. NIce WORK
    I simply used a 1 1/4" metal hole saw that fit over the exhaust tip and then cut the weld out in about 2 minutes. You then have the original tip to grab with vice grips and twist/wiggle the pipe out. Easy

    • @thebritonabike
      @thebritonabike  ปีที่แล้ว

      That was my first option .. I tried it and failed dismally ... I went thru x3 1 1/4" metal hole saw bits and burnt them out .. my welds were Titanium infused I think. Hence I gave up and switched to the dremel and cutting disc approach - same result - and my exhaust now sounds amazing. No popping, backfires or hesitation. Just huge sound!

      @@thebritonabike Sorry the saw didn't work. My bike is a 2022. is yours older? And yea it sounds good

      @@PatSmith-f9t you were lucky! yup my Guzzi is a 2018 ….. I wish the metal cutting hole saw had worked… at least the dremmel did the trick. Awesome sound now!

      @@thebritonabike I think in order to use the holesaw, you'd need to put a piece of timber into the hole, so that the actual drill bit is guiding the holesaw and you have a straight cut. Just saying ...

      Thant might have helped except I have seriously NEVER experience such insanely strong 'cut proof' welds ! My expensive hole saw metal cutting bits really struggled to cut through .... @@ub41nz

    Good video, always nice to see a creative, inexpensive mod like this. I have a '23 V7 Special Edition, and from what I've seen on YT, even the Arrow mufflers are too quiet. So I had the dealer install a set of Agostini full-length reverse cone mufflers with the dB killers removed, and they sound fantastic. 'Course they weren't cheap, but now the bike sounds like a Guzzi should. The good thing about the Ago mufflers is they don't have cats in them, like several other aftermarket mufflers do (i.e. Mistral). The way the OEM mufflers have those tiny exhaust tips is ridiculous, but I imagine we have the Euro5 and previous regulations to thank for that.

    I'm not brave enough to do this to mi V7 850
    This month there'ss a Moto Guzzi reunion close to where I live, and Mistral confirmed they'll be there. Hopefully they'll give the attendants a discount and, if so, I'll buy a pair to my bike.

    Sorry but for me the $850 for the Agostini's was worth it for the sound alone. They also eliminate the cats and the back pressure that comes from that.

      Glad that you love your custom exhaust - the videos I made are for those of us that don’t have the $850 that those pipes cost but want to create a similar sound for cheap. No disrespect to those that spend the money and buy those pipes …. if my attempt had failed I would have bought a set myself! I wish you continued safe riding.

    I did it on another bike, with a hole saw, but regretted it and finally reinstalled another set of baffles, not so much for the volume of sound but the hard metallic quality of it. The original pipes have a deep mellow sound, which will be lost. Installing new baffles will be difficult to do here because of the shape of the pipe. 30 dollars spent, but your pipes are ruined. There are cheaper slip-on exhausts than the Mistral, Agostini, etc, to be tried. My humble opinion.

    • @thebritonabike
      @thebritonabike  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tried the hole saw route but failed ....tore up 2 carbide tipped hole saws - so I think those welds were made with a mixture of Adamantium and Vibranium !!! One of my pipes was already buggered from a low side crash so the whole thing was just an experiment in sound ....I agree there are other slip on options .... but I am happy with the way the bike sounds now - especially with the drop in baffles. Continued safe riding to you !

    I appreciate the video, however every modified stock exhaust i have heard in real life sounds bad, like a massively leaking or obnoxiously loud exhaust. The Agostini or Mistral have a entirely different character, more bassy and smooth sounding. However, again this is a great video for those hesitant or unable to push the boat out to a pair of Agostinis.

    • @thebritonabike
      @thebritonabike  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I agree - mine was VERY loud with the baffles cut out - but once I added the drop in aftermarket ones it really reduced the obnoxiousness ! The whole experiment was just that - can it be done cheaply and easily - YES- does it significantly increase the sound with negatively affecting performance - YES - if it hadn't worked I would have swung for the aftermarket ones - but no need now ! Very happy with the sound ! I wish you continued safe riding!

    Damn, in my 2016 pipes, the weld is at 6cm deep in the hole. Can't reach with dremel. The end of the db killer does not come out of the silencer so it cant be shortened first

    • @thebritonabike
      @thebritonabike  ปีที่แล้ว

      6cm is the Same as mine and I had no problem with my dremmel reaching . just use a long cut off tool extension .. it will reach the welds just fine.

    • @Keskusrikospoliisi
      @Keskusrikospoliisi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thebritonabike I got it shorter with my dremel. Now it's 4cm shorter and the welds are still there. But it still sounds the same as in your videos... I think this sound actualy is created by the little "echo chamber" what is left at the end of the silencer after this mod (or what I did).

    Surely a MOT failure in the UK?

    • @thebritonabike
      @thebritonabike  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I live in Los Angeles now so it's been a while since I've had to deal with the UK MOT stations - but Yes if you do this mod and took it to an MOT station you'd fail ... however if you do the mod and then install the dB reducer sound baffles then you'd 'likely' be just fine. Once you've passed the MOT just remove the baffles as and when you want HUGE exhaust sound and a throaty rumble. See this video for how. Ride safely! th-cam.com/video/E1pT8O8XJZQ/w-d-xo.html
