This Is China’s Answer To The Porsche Taycan…

  • Jack takes a first look at the latest offering from GWM's Ora brand, the "Lightning Cat". Unlike most Chinese EVs we've seen in Europe so far, this one isn't focusing on the entry level end of the market - this powerful, luxury saloon is aimed squarely at the segment of car that the likes of Porsche, Audi, BMW and Mercedes have specialised in for a century. Does it have what it takes to knock them off their perch?
    00:00 - A definitely real comment

If I were to buy one, I would insist on keeping the name badges! So I guess the Lightning Cat will be sold as the 700 Pro here, then... how utterly generic and boring! @@shonunezekiel a couple reasons really, first I love cars no matter what and I'm always interested to see what's coming out in the future, secondly it gave me an insight to what our future could be like especially with the whole 2030 all should have electric car law and actually how we can do it. Finally I just really like Robert Llewellyn

    What a great vid and an interesting car. Apart from the front, which has the charisma of a Ford Scorpio, the rest looks really nice. Having sat in a Funky Cat at last year’s Fully Charged Show, I imagine that the interior feels really plush and full of quality too. I quite like the look of the sides rear and interior, and if the boot was an ok size it would be a really tempting proposition. Unfortunately the boot, shape and size does seems GT like, but it’s not GT quick and I very much doubt it will be GT handling.

    I think it looks good although i would change the headlight design. When designing any car to be aerodynamic one is somewhat limited when putting design over functionality. This is partly why some people think the Polestar 2 and BMW i4 look better than the Tesla Model 3. The fact the Model 3 is lighter, more aerodynamic, and therefore more efficient demonstrates the company put function before design. I'm convinced as to the value of comparing one car against another in this way. It's human nature i guess..

  • @TassieEV
    @TassieEV ปีที่แล้ว

    Love the beginning, bit of Hot Fuzz in there although probably been around for a very long time that one. Ora needs to keep the names they have originally not change them for the western markets same goes for BYD with Dolphin, Seal, Seagull, Han. Funky/Ligntning Cat I'll keep calling it Ora, sorry not sorry. Love the little editorial bit in the middle with the google and hearing the editors voice just briefly(or I think it was). Interior has bit of Tavascan with that T shape centre console bit and double door centre console bit where you rest your elbow. Being only 1" shorter than you like the backseat test which I do myself in every car I sit in and this is better than the Dolphin for that test then. Speaking of Tavascan thought FC would have sent you and another host over to Berlin to cover it this year.

    Normalize smaller center dash screens in new cars. Not that this one is small(just about pushing the limit of what I'd consider an eyesore) but compared to other EVs at least it's not the size of my PC monitor.
