Audi Q7 Crash Test

  • / @youcartv The passenger compartment of the 2016-2017 Audi Q7 remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings showed good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger. Audi demonstrated that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. Measurements of chest compression in the driver dummy indicated a marginal level of protection for this part of the body. In the full width rigid barrier test, all critical body areas except the chest were well protected. Chest protection for the rear passenger dummy was adequate and that of the driver dummy was again marginal. In both the side barrier impact and the more severe side pole test, protection of all critical body regions was good and maximum points were scored. The front seats and head restraints provided good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision, and a geometric assessment of the rear seats indicated good whiplash protection here too. An autonomous emergency braking system is fitted as standard on the Q7 and operates from the low speeds, typical of city driving, at which many whiplash injuries are caused. Its performance in Euro NCAP's tests was good.
    In the full scale impact tests, both the 11⁄2 year dummy and the 3 year dummy were sat in rearward-facing restraints. The Q7 scored maximum points for its protection of the 3 year dummy in the tests. Protection of the 11⁄2 year dummy was good except for the chest, which experienced marginally elevated decelerations. The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. Clear information is provided to the driver and the system was rewarded. All of the restraints for which the Q7 is designed could be properly installed and accommodated in the vehicle. The Q7 can be bought as a seven seater or a five seater. The optional third row seats have, as standard, integrated child restraints with ISOFIX anchorages. The seven seat vehicle would have scored additional points for child occupant protection and the five star overall rating applies also to that version.
    The Q7 has an 'active' bonnet. Sensors in the bumper detect when a pedestrian has been struck and actuators lift the bonnet, providing greater clearance between the surface and the hard structures in the engine bay. Audi showed that the system triggered robustly over a range of speeds and for different pedestrian statures, so the car was tested with the bonnet in the raised position. Good results were recorded in almost all areas tested. The bumper had some areas offering good protection to pedestrians' legs but also some adequate and marginal results were recorded. Protection of the pelvic region of a struck pedestrian was predominantly poor.
    The Q7 is equipped, as standard, with electronic stability control, a seatbelt reminder system for the front and rear seats, autonomous emergency braking and a speed assistance system. As well as operating at low, city speeds, the autonomous braking system also works at higher speeds and performed well in Euro NCAP's tests. The standard speed assistance system is a driver-set speed limiter, and this is the system assessed here. An optional system is available which also uses a camera and digital mapping to inform the driver of local speed limits. A lane departure warning system is available as an option but was not expected to meet the fitment requirements for inclusion in the assessment.

A pickup truck has a completely different build and will twist and most likely break in half when impacted because of the thin platform connecting to its bed. And thanks to that it also can't have such a secure and solid structure. Learn basic information before spewing bullshit

    This car's side curtain airbags are overly sensitive. In the full-front crash test, they're not needed at all as the occupant motion is straight forward and rearward. In the frontal offset, only the driver's curtain airbag could help as the rebound motion is to that side. The passenger's curtain is unnecessary. In the two side impacts, obviously the driver side curtain airbags are necessary but not the passenger side ones. Again, physics of the motion toward the driver side. I read a story online about someone who hit a DEER in a 2017 Q7 and both curtains and front airbags went off. The damage was relatively minor but the SUV filled with airbag smoke and the occupants had to duck under the curtain airbags to get out.

    I don't like these standard speed test, we drive well over 60 km/h on 60km/h roads. I would like to see that extent of damage to a car travelling at 120 km/h.

    • @rzvn111
      @rzvn111 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Edwin Siyabonga check on youtube a focus hitting a wall at 120 km/h, only the trunk remains. No one escapes at that impact alive. I believe when you brake from 130 km/h (speed limit), you have a high chance of having a collision at 60 - 50 km/h, if not, than ... you know the answer.

    • @Pray-For-Profits
      @Pray-For-Profits 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Alex N the focus crashed at 120mph not 120km

    • @KeiDoesManyThings
      @KeiDoesManyThings 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alex N 120 km/h is roughly 75 mp/h. 50 km/h is about 30, so 60 is about 35-36 mp/h- aka city speeds.

    • @SpanningTreeProtocol
      @SpanningTreeProtocol 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Edwin Siyabonga What Alex said.
      The cars are crash tested at these speeds are because:
      A) A 100Km/h+ impact against a non moving rigid object would most certainly kill the occupants (assuming almost instant deceleration)
      B) In 90%++ of situations, the accidents occur at lower speeds, because the driver brakes before hitting the object.
      For example, if you're driving at 120Km/h on the highway and you notice something wrong (let's say a stopped vehicle), you'll start braking. If you don't manage to avoid the crash, you won't crash at 120Km/h, but at 80 or even less.

    In the real world no one goes at 64 km/h . Could Euroncap increase the speed up to 100 or 120 km/h to do the crash test and if u still fell it is safe then give 5 stars please.

    • @koti0009
      @koti0009 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alexander11080 thanks for reply bro. In such case we have to drive only 60 km/h. Moreover making this crash test was really waste.

    why dont they test these vehicle at 120kph to160 cause thats the speed every one drives not 60kph

    • @gavcom4060
      @gavcom4060 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RAJU Ramjit because you'd be dead if you crash at those speeds. It doesn't matter what car you have, you'll be dead. These tests also take in consideration in driver input so they'd assume that you'd brake to around 60 Kph before you crash
