@@Hagerty Hello, your videos are excellent. I greet you from VENEZUELA! How could you help me to buy some spare parts for a 1979 Malibu? I'm Armando. Where could I send you a message to show you the photos of my Malibu so I can ask you for help to buy some spare parts to get it working. Regards, Argenis Enrique.
Thank you. It’s been too long, I was worried that maybe Hagerty had cancelled this series. Davin and Tom Cotter are the reasons I come to this channel.
HAH ! The minute I saw the open deck block my brain screamed "ALUMINIUM" ! You got yourself a VERY RARE but TURD of an engine. And the fact that you sourced a cast iron block to replace it confirmed it all.
I just watched this video, and I’m honestly blown away by the sheer effort and creativity that went into it. Huge respect to the creators and photographers for their dedication-every shot feels like a masterpiece. You can really see the time, thought, and passion they put into making this happen. Truly incredible work!
I owned a 225 slant six dart back in High School and drag raced it stock, minus the dryer duct my dad and I thought of to use more power. Never in over 25 years or so would I expect to see this...screw the other Mopar rebuilds, this one was amazing to see people believe in what the leaning of Tower of power can do!!❤
In the mid 1960’s my mother had a four door Coronet with the slant six. (Not a Coronet 500, just the bottom of the line, vinyl upholstery, no floor mats, AM radio version, as used by NYC taxis and police cars of the time.) one day when I was about 12 I tried to set the points, but the distributor, on the right side of the engine, was on the underside of the leaning-over block. The distributor cap was right next to the inner fender well. I could either just barely see the points, or put a screwdriver on the them, but not see around my hand holding the tool. I snapped the cap back on and forgot about the whole thing. That car ran for many years with no regular maintenance, NONE, parked outside the whole time. The paint oxidized to matte tan but surprisingly, it didn’t rust even with all the salt NYC dumped on the roads all winter. It finally left us when a drunk driver slammed against broadside while it was parked, empty, at a curb. The wheels hit the curb, bent the front suspension and twisted the unibody. Good old Mom replaced it with a top of the line AMC Gremin X with Levi’s denim interior. Go Mom!
No one does automotive content like Hagerty. Y’all are amazing!!! Redline rebuilds and vlogs was what got me here, but I stayed for all the assortment of incredibly talented journalists you guys amassed. Larry Chen, Jason Camissa, et al…. I love this channel so much.
I appreciate how Davin uses hand tools for everything, even in disassembly. He can hear and feel the subtle nuances that old engine is telling him. You miss that with impact drivers and the like. Bravo.
Brings back great memories of using a Sears rebuild kit for my 225 slant six out of my 68 Cuda with a 3 speed on the column. I was in high-school and the car cost me $60! I rebuilt the entire car and got a $99 paint job at Maco. Couldn't kill the 225. It ran great for many years. Thanks for the video.
Been waiting for another Redline Rebuild timelapse video and all I can say is, it's well worth the wait! As always, I love the cinematography and process of rebuilding of the Slant Six so much. Keep up the great work!
Been ages since a RedLine Rebuild video!!!!! Only reason I subscribe to this channel. More please!!! Few years ago, these videos were so much more frequent. Davin, where have you gone?!?!? Probably out in the shop, getting his work done. 😄 Happy holidays!
That is a very cool motor right in the middle of the video I said put a four-barrel on it and headers but I did not think you were going to put a supercharger on it can't wait till the next video
@ People thought I was crazy to hop-up the 250 in-line 6 in my Nova back in the late 80’s. Offenhauser aluminum intake, .475”I/.502”E lift Crane cam, Holley 390 4-bbl and a set of dual, 3-into-one Hooker headers. Sounded like a big block at idle.
What would the stock horse power be#1, horse power rebuilt without super charger #2 then with super charger #3. I'd be curious. Awesome video. I can only imagine what my Gold Duster could have done with this setup. 😂😂😂
@@buffdoc46 Stock HP for the aluminum 225 was 145 (gross) HP while the 1974 iron 225 was rated at 105 (net) HP. I’m gonna say without the supercharger it will make 170 HP at the crank and with the supercharger it will make 250 HP at the crank.
I missed this rebuilds SO much guys... And this type of inline 6's builds, like the Jeep's one, It's really a pleasure to see different things some times, I CAN'T wait to hear this slant running and burning some rubber! Keep up the work guys!💪

I watch lots of car videos and so many have low quality camera work shot handheld with a phone so this video with the smooth camera motion and stop motion was a real fine example of quality camera work and editing.
This was a delightful, well planned video shoot - quite apart from the bone hard mechanical job of stripping, cleaning, machining and rebuilding the motor. Davin put some blood sweat and tears into this build. I wish other car channels on You Tube could learn from this. Even after wondering what a detailed commentary by Davin Reckow would have been like, this was such a joy to watch. My hat comes off to the talented editor as well. How many hours of slog went into shaping and smoothing this timeline against the music? It's most impressive. A superb production.
Noticed the machine work to the pistons. I enjoy everything done in the video and I'd like to hear more about the build. Looking forward to the engine running on the stand with the supercharger.
