    I’ve been on finasteride 17:43 for over 20 years and have never experienced any side effects at all. I began early and used it preventively and have kept my hair . Had I not been on it, I believe I would have lost my hair. Everyone is different, but it’s worth trying, the earlier you use it the better. It’s easier to keep what you have versus trying to grow back lost hair. I use minoxidil foam as well.

    I tried medication instead of going the hair transplant route. Had aggressive diffuse pattern alopecia at 23 (scalp became see through almost overnight). My first recourse was minoxidil and then I added finasteride on to my regimen. Had some sexual sides with finasteride and not so great results (it helped with stopping further hair loss). Switched to dutasteride and weirdly enough the sexual sides disappeared (it was almost like being on steroids). Had more energy on the latter, reduced brain fog, and managed a 90 percent hair loss recovery. Right now, I take dutasteride thrice a week with topical minoxidil. When I first switched to Dutasteride there was very aggressive hair shedding (had to shave to a 1). It took 6 months to see results but it is worth it. I am still maintaining a decade later.

    Hey Brett, I completely feel you on the finasteride, I hoped on it but was weary of the side effects like all of us are but I got a pill cutter and decided I was gonna give it a shot… I started taking 0.25 mg of finasteride on mondays/Wednesday’s/ and fridays.. for about 2 and a half months … now mind you, at first It started fine but then I slowly saw the side effects come into play.. watery cum… and eventually my libido went down, I still had the sex drive in my mind but the way my body felt down there was like It was sleeping… I said “screw this” and hopped off of it and decided I wasn’t gonna screw around with my hormones. It’s been about a month or so and it has improved but not fully yet at least I think… just be careful man…
    Also, I have been on minoxidil for about 2 years, and I recently decided to start dermarolling my hair and using a derma pin as well.. so I’m just gonna stick to that route

    Dutasteride blocks receptors #2 and #1
    Finasteride aka Propecia ONLY blocks receptor #2.
    But what IF your hair loss is coming from receptor #1??!
    Its better to block BOTH.
    And any DHT that does build up on your scalp your Shampoo and topical will take care of that issue.

    This video countains way more valuable information than the headline/title of this video suggests. I'm curious about the oral minoxidil. With the local one, you can directly impact somehow the area you're putting it on to. But if you take it oral, isn't there any risks of growing more hair at places, you don't want to (e.g. Shoulders and back hair)?

    I will also recommend not taking finestride, i dont have a transplant simce my hairline haven't decreased yet but i use minoxidil 5% topical liquid spray because i belong to the family of bald men (my father, uncles, cusions etc) and i dont want that to happen to me since i am the only one left with full head of hairs. Before starting minoxidil I used finestride for 3 weeks and the sexual side effects were huge on me (i mean huge) at that point so i stopped immediately and then it took me around 2 and half months for me to get back at pre-finestride state which was pretty good i must say.
    Right now i am using minoxidil (11 months and 27 days now) and also started biotin 2500 mcg one and half months ago. It is easy to use minoxidil on shorter hairs but yes it gets harder to apply on longer (more than 2 inches) hairs in my experience. I had around 6 inch of length a week ago and then i shaved my head which i do every march, at the start of summer, because i can't handle the heat on my scalp and face and my hair growth is above average around 0.75 to 0.8 inch a month so I'll have good length of hairs again in 5 to 6 months. I heard topical finestride is best to avoid the side effect and sadly i dont have it available in my country so you should get the topical version of it but I don't know how you apply it with minoxidil. You should check that out as well.
    Anyway sorry for my long comment but yes i will also recommend not taking oral finestride and minoxidil.

      It doesn’t even make sense if you think about it for 2-seconds.
      What’s the difference between blocking DHT with finasteride or natural supplements? If the lower DHT is causing the side-effects, you’ll get the side effects no matter how you lower it.
      You might as well take the finasteride, which has actually been shown to work in large scale studies.

      @@tomcotter4299 Great response. I understand how people fall for this logical fallacy that natural products are inherently safer, but their claims should be corrected.
      Just to add to what you said, even if a natural product works like finasteride, we can't really say it lowers it to a hair safe level.
      At the end of the day, most of these products might as well be placebo and a huge waste of money, scalp massages and smearing broccolli on your scalp are cheaper at this point, lol

I think your transplant looks good but I do agree with the doctor when he said it is a little bit low because as you age it could become an issue. I am talking about when you are in your 50’s and 60’s. Taking oral finasteride is very important because it will help with the loss of the hair further back and in the crown area.

    Take finasteride only when you experience heavy hair loss. I assume you are somewhere 30 years old. Your androgen receptors have already slowed down in binding dht. Eat dht reducing foods and saw palmetto to reduce dht serum by 30%. Also use stimulants daily and you will be fine for a long time. Finasteride should be avoided as much as possible since it is a cancer treatment for a dangerous desease which hairloss is not.

    I've been noticing a trend with some dermatologists recently where they seem to be more comfortable prescripting oral Minoxidil instead of Finasteride.
    My dad has gone bald at age 26/27. Im 30 but taking Fin since like 22/23 without issues.
    The thing is, many dermatologists talk about the Finasteride syndrome, which occurs after you pull out of it after a long time of use, which seems to mess up your hormones and some people seem to get depressed after it.
    My latest two dermatologist visits: The previous one told me to slowly draw out of Fin, going from once a day to only three per week while going 1mg oral Minox, to go two Fins per week after six months. More six months of it and then done.
    The last Dermatologist told me this is nonsense, that there are no large mass/high quality studies relating Fin draw to any syndromes, that i should take whatever feels more comfortable and with no side effects.
    But none of them told me to take both at the same time.
    Im still unsure of what to do but i think ill draw out of Fin and go Minox since Fin messes with Testosterone directly and can have effects on sperm count or quality etc.

    • @mikearaujo377
      @mikearaujo377 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fin is a 5-ar inhibitor, it doesn't mess directly with your testosterone, It actually blocks the action of an enzyme that converts testosterone into DHT.
      Also, the scientific literature is clear: there's no impact on sperm count or its motility.

    • @dannar3657
      @dannar3657 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Umm minoxidil only will not solve the problem I think, because you need to solve the root problem of hair loss which is dht by taking fin am not encouraging you to keep taking it it's up to you but from my research and what I have come upon on the web it does not effect the quality of sperm and it does not effect testosterone directly, fin blocks the conversion of test to its dht form, so yeah ill say watch this channel it might change your point of view on certain things about fin >>>haircafe (the guy is called Kevin).

    It is critical that you take finasteride. I've been on it for almost 2 years. It will slow down the hair loss for almost everyone and stop it for about 80% over a few years.
    If you have a family history of men who are norwood 5 or higher, then it is strongly advised that you save your hair with finasteride and dutasteride.
    Side effects are uncommon, but I went in fearless because I knew that if I went bald, I was going to be an incel. Most women hate bald. So you can have a 3% risk of getting ED on the drug (working out minimizes these odds) or a 100% risk of being a baldcel and have 0 women attracted to you and you won't need the erections anyway.
